As a prot warrior/arms main and someone who loves hpal, it’s such a weird feeling right now in what I want to play. The new affixes just kind of annoy me and almost feel like they aren’t about DPS and instead are trying to prioritize healer DPS rotation each week lol
Idk what y'all are on about -- we're getting exactly what we asked for: a less bursty healing experience. I've been playing wildstalker on the beta & catweaving has literally never felt this good.
Pres is my favorite healer and I think it's really solid design-wise, but this new tier set for me adds to an existing issue I have with the spec. Verdant Embrace does too much imo.: 1) It's a very potent single target (or more with echo) burst heal. 2) It triggers Call of Ysera which, a must have talent. 3) It applies Lifebind to yourself, your target and other potential echo'ed targets. 4) It can also be a movement tool to get you out of trouble. And now on top of all that it also triggers the 4p buffed Reversion(5!). That's, I think, too much for one spell to do, I don't mind having Verdant Embrace be an important and often used spell in preservation toolkit, but I think it would be better for some of these effects to attributed to other spells, especially the new 4p !
It sounds like there is some timidity on Blizzard’s part when it comes to hpal tuning. Hopefully, this is addressed before the expansion goes live. Thanks for the good work!
I think paladin has been king of healing for sooooo long and it's about time that they get knocked back a little. It gives plenty of opportunity for other healers to shine some too.
@@josephblanchard5212shit take. Being knocked back a bit would be fine, that’s not what they are, though. They are overly weak and it takes pressing every single button you have just to bring people up, which feels incredibly bad.
@@josephblanchard5212I desperately need to know for how long you think Hpal has been the "king of healing", cause I can think of 2 instances, 1 of which lasted a whole season the other last 3 weeks before the nerf train took them on a 13 week ride to where it is now. Shadowlands saw Hpal being top healing for 1 season and only because of a covenant ability not the Hpal itself. I'm going to have to hard disagree with the sentiment that Hpal needed nerfs cause it was so good for so long when Rdruid has literally almost always been the strongest M+ healer and Disc being 1 of the strongest Raid healers. Unless you're talking about a raid situation, in which I still disagree. Hpal hasn't been top raid healer for a decent amount of time, and now it sits as 1 of the lowest. I really don't understand why people applauded Blizzard on nerfing Hpal instead of pushing back on them to buff the rest of the healers in a similar redesign.
Great video man, (the disc gameplay from 3 : 30 to 4 : 20 is soooo painfull to watch lmaoooo, tuning + oracle feel so hard to heal hp bars) thanks for the content
If you want to cast verdant embrace on somebody and not move through potential damage, echo your desired Target and VE yourself. Prezz is a lot easier than most people think if are throwing out echoes or temporal anomaly so you can VE the whole party.
Im worried about disc priest. The S4 tier set makes the gameplay very smooth and comfortable. I agree with Jak that they need to choose one or the other Shield or MB, or make it "and" instead of "or" so you dont have to choose between an empowered shield or an empowered MB.
Great video. Something to try for Hpal, Light of the Martyr has been reworked to benefit Holy Shock, along with the talent below it. You can run strictly melee Hpal by taking both of those talents so far. I've only played Hpal all week on Beta and I've yet to press a casted healing spell like FoL or HL. Between LoTM and the tier, your Holy Shock healing is increased by 45%. Give that a try. That being said I would say Hpal still could benefit from a decent buff, but at least this change in the talent tree gives 2 viable build options. It's not season 2 lvls of health bar movement but it's much better than it is on Live right now.
I hope they don’t f up with Totemic shaman. It’s looking great right now. I also want to know who came up with Oracle concept for priest since Holy is (kinda) reactive healing style compared to disc but they gave a concept of future prediction… then I am left with Archon but again why it has to be Halo 😅
Been a disc main since last season BFA in mid-high content with majority pugs as well as my DK friend. This tier is disappointing. I was complaining to him that I have no idea how my spec will function without spamming to get mindbender up as fast as I possibly can. Worried about it because it feels like you can’t heal high damage without the poor squid out on time. Perhaps the new dungeons will function differently.
@AUTOMATICJAK With the CDR in the holy priest set, are you able to reset serenity with a single flash heal inside apotheosis? Unless i remember totally wrong normally its two flash heals to get serenity back
I will say from the beta dungeons I did playing oracle and opting into the left side of the disc tree to create massive shields has been working far better for me personally, I was never a fan of shadow covenent playstyle to begin with and the tier set not forcing you to play that Is a upside for me personally. If they removed the shielding interaction on the tier it would likely force you down the right side of the tree due to how its setup and removing flexability in the talent tree has been my biggest complaint so far in dragonflight. Season 1 felt like I could fine tune my build to how I liked it and then it slowly became blizzard choosing how I was allowed to play which at that point we might as well just go back to the old talent system since there is no choice but to play the way they intent otherwise your actually griefing every single group you join which 90% of people wouldn't do.
Totemic Shaman treatment is what Hpal needs. Herald of the Sun is so nice and looks amazing visually but it’s still Hpal and bloated defensively. Lightsmith I love the concept but idk..even with some improvements it still feels lackluster
well, we always panic before a new patch or expansion thinking its going to be bad and it usually works out, might need tuning but should be ok. I use my rapture basically every 2 mins I do a huge amount of damage prevention so I am kinda excited to see what the enhanced shield has to offer. But as of right now, it looks like it might only benefit the lazy disc priests who dont use rapture very often, if at all.
disc both oracle and voidweaver in beta in both m+ and shuffle feels A BIT undertuned, you can see in both pvp shuffle or pve dungeon scenarios your teamates being crushed witouth a really healing response to that, EVEN if u are doing just dps perfect rotation with atonement up (and in pvp that doesnt never happens) but even if, u cant heal the enemy burst not even close , maybe with all cds up and void blast atonement but , is 99% of times unpraticable, outside maybe that and void shift, topping pple is near impossible. While all other healers can really tops u easily, atonement/damage should be giga buffed to compensate this lack of healing and honestly of damage too.
Played alot of holy pala in season 3 DF and I liked the castadin to some extent! But spenders/WoG felt bad imo the problem was you hade like 4 dif modifier bosting it's healing by 120% or some shit that means the base healing was Soo low snd not satisfied.. stand in con 20% dawn stack, wings, tyr deliv % and so on. To many modifiers and holy shock felt kinda weak because of so much focus on glimmer made the spell itself felt weak. I want my buttons to feel good pressing even if the healing was ok because of glimmer adding on top of the heal 😅
Did they change Salvation's cooldown reduction back to how it was before S3 yet? Since the cooldown will be insanely long without the extra holy words from the tier set
I'm extremely disappointed with the Preservation set. I get that letting a 200% increased Reversion echo might be overkill, but there are so many different ways they could tune it. Feels bad to have your 4pc be essentially "nothing". Sustain will probably be nice in M+ tho, so I guess there's that to look forward to.
At this point they should just remove the “offensive” part of holy shock since it does no damage anymore, its not even healing lmao they’re clueless about what do with holy paladin, shameful
Hey Jak. You know what else i found out very annoying with the Preservation Evokers 4set? I found myself to usually put a reversion on top of another just for the Golden hour heal but now the normal reversion will overwrite the buffed one from the 4set., i know i have to get used to it but its kinda lame..
Shaman sounds a bit like it was in Shadowlands, I loved it so much. Now we only need kyrian totem again :P jk it sounds like I could have fun again playing it

I really don't get why people think Mistweaver is looking great. Conduit of the Celestial is fairly uninsipired and procs from the weirdest spells. The windwalker version makes a lot more sense. We shouldn't have to do a long hard cast (even if made 50% faster) to proc the shield and the yu'lon buff has no business being tied to Shei'lun gift. Both hero specs and the tier set are trying to weridly promote a caster playstyle once again and I just don't get it. Everything flows a lot better as a caster mistweaver but the spec is still not built to play it (0 damage output, and why would you spend all your time casting in melee range, that's just nonsense). The tier set should proc from rising sun kick and/or gust of mist as well (since they can now interact with rising sun kick) and both hero specs need to be looked into to actually flow with the mistweaver playstyle and not require so many planted hard cast in melee range. It feels worse than Paladin at the moment and Paladins have been in the gutter for two seasons now with the casting problem.
It's funny because in PvP, Void Weaver is so overtuned. Target a pet class and get massive healing for everyone as pets and even totems get hit by the void thingy 😉
I have been playing as a resto druid since 2005 as a hardcore player and rolled to dps in shadowlands. I started to enjoy the game again. All that responsibility, blame, math, controlling everything is gone. I lowered my IQ and enjoyed the game again. Will never roll to healer again. At least with this image of healing.
Thank you for referencing not having to cast healing rain every 10 seconds!! HATE IT! It feels so bad everytime!! Blizzard make it increase to 30 seconds by casting Chainheal/healing wave with the Echo like with the Legion tier set!!!
It's so frustrating as a past Holy Paladin main. Listen, I get it if they are scared of HPal becoming OP again by buffing their healing, but the fact that they also do NO damage feels absolutely trash. If they are going to leave their healing, at least up their damage.
