100%. They're covered in quills and are wearing thorns. Quilboar line that has been living next to some Well of Eternity type power source seems almost certain to me.
@@beastmaster0934 Yeah but not, the quills looks more like a common trait. (They are literally half bats as well) Harronir are basically dark night elves cousins who became pig-batmen. If they has to really create evolved quillboars, they would have looked more like dwarves, probably. The best example of reused skelettons are probably Vulpera being technically Goblin allied race. Even if their personality remind a bit Goblins too, their model is so reworked that no one would ever think about a link between the two races. Just like they could resuse their brand new (and especially expensive) Kul Tiran models for a bunch of mobs, like Rexxar.
The problem with most races is that you aren’t really picking a race as much as you are picking a silhouette. Because when your race is literally covered with armor, you pretty much only see short, stocky, skinny, wide, or somewhere in between.
@@TheNewCoalition I mean yeah you could go minimalist but I feel like on most races it just looks mediocre. Unless your wearing a slutmog on a chick. I feel like when they updated the visuals on the races with the different Hi-Rez models They could have done a little bit more. like the orcs in the original cinematics still look way beefier than what we actually got even in the cinematics for WoD the orcs looked really good. I love the model for Rexxar and the armor he wears really shows off his character.
You're right, I can't tell the difference between gnomes and taurens when they have their armour on. Or humans and husky humans (Kul tirans). Should catch up to the other MMOs, like ESO with... humans. and humans. and orcs that look like humans. and, to be fair, lizard and cat people which are the only races that are visually noticeable. Or FF14, with humans... and tall humans. And short humans. And shorter humans. And literal children, the only visually distinct race.
@@SupachargedGaming ... Read again, you're literally saying the same thing as him. WoW is very good at having various silhouettes, but when it comes to having allied races that reuse previous model rigs, some people (who are clearly not RP players) just find it pointless. (If you play a tauren, for the love of An'she please get naked)
Elves are the most volatile element in Azeroth. Move an elf near anything really and they'll evolve, although I'd even say *mutate*, since elves even adapt to their environment during their own lifetime.
@Iknos997 Technically correct, but different troll variants still look like trolls, while elves can become facking sea snakes or demons or even freaky human-sized manequinns, just based on the drugs they consumed that week.
I still believe that a Nerubian humanoid race will really be perfect, something for different that can give more flavor to races, and its a perfect fit for the expansion.
1:45 RIP the fantasy of RPing as two-headed ogre warlock inspired by Cho'Gall Although let's be honest only us rare few remaining long-time fans from as far back as the WC2 days would even remember the original Cho'Gall as his brief appearance in Cata was overshadowed by Deathwing existing. Not to mention that IIRC, even the alternate Draneor version didn't leave much of an impact.
Important thing to remind : Cho'gall is an exception. And yes his name is written like that, even in Heroes of the Storm which also use Cho and Gall for fun gameplay. He's ONE person, but completely crazy and talking to himself. Usual two-headed ogres characters weren't actually divided with their own self, it's a single spirit with twice the brain.
“Never getting Ogres.” That’s literally all I want. An ogre mage. It doesn’t be even have to be two headed. I’m large, hairy, smelly, and can do basic magic tricks (as long as it’s not more complicated than “got your nose!”). What can I say? Representation matters. Ogres now! ✊✊✊
I unironically applaud Blizzard on their decision to give all human and elf variants the half elven customization options, as opposed to making a new actual race they'd have to design. It's the best option for resolving half elves tbh. I love Arator's model in Legion, but he's gonna get at least a minor update for Midnight, guaranteed, but likely a fully new model that has the face of a human, but the pointed ears of an elf. And I firmly believe that that "Airship" tag along with the Earthen and Harronir refers to a (preferably mobile) aerial player housing. Because it doesn't have to exist anywhere specifically in the world. You could theoretically assign it to anywhere in TWW zones, or maybe just an airdock in Hallowfall (more realistically). That way they can experiment with player housing again. Everyone having their own personal airship would be WILDLY COOL!
@@Aztonio We're still in Alpha. Don't worry about what you think it is now. That can easily be changed, or hidden that way for a surprise reveal. Blizzard does that all the time.
@@monkeysk8er33 I think you saw the drill the airship indeed can have, but ignored every other parts of it. It can basically be a gyrocopter, a plane, a mini-zeppelin, etc.
my only nitpick is that the half elve/half trolls mouths kinda "ignore" the tusks so they just look like glued on. they really need to change the lips so that it looks like the tusks are actually coming out of the mouth
Yeah looking at some animations it really looks unfinished (on another hand we're dealing with so much clipping in the game already, we'd rather be able to chose to show our hair for example...) And also, as trolls decending, they should have their tusks coming from their upper mouth ! Just like gnomes getting 5 toes. It's those sort of details they completely missed when making alternate models, like females...
I'm just curious why the Forsaken couldn't use shadow magic for their paladins. I mean, I know it was mainly because Blizzard doesn't like developing different color spells for different races, but they totally SHOULD develop different color spells for different races and give us ALL the class/race combos!
@@Kiobao that would make somethig different from a paladin, a Paladin wields the light. You can keep the concept, create a new class and call it "Void Knights" "Dark Zealots" "Obscure Vindicators".

Ever since I heart about pointy ears for human (and round ears for elves), I've been obsessed by mixed races. Especially with the future Midnight expansion, I wonder how Quel'thalas viewed interbreeding. I can clearly imagine how they might've looked down on elves who married human. Would half-elves and half-human be driven away during a big tragedy like the destruction of the sunwell?
From what I remember lorewise, half elves were super rare because elves tended to be really full of themselves. Just look at Elisande's snark at Veressa over her children. I would think any half elves would be seen as a disappointment over missed possibility that they could've been full elves.
@@MSinistrari @MSinistrari Imagine being the child of a human and elf during Arthas' campaign. Imagine getting driven away as in times of hardship, the "other" can't be taken care of. Imagine having to cross the destroyed northern kingdoms and Khaz Modan just to reach the (then) last human bastion of Stormwind. Imagine growing up an hearing that the elves that drove you away allied with the orcs. A group that ravaged both your old and new home. There's a good chance that you lost friends and family to the orcs. Imagine your father dying at Theramore, by betrayal from "neutral" horde-elves. Imagine now the horde starting a world-war, after an elf became warchief. Of course, there is a lot of bias involved. But I can now fully understand Vereesa's hatred for blood-elves.

The Well of Eternity was full of Arcane magic, because titans had to fix the giant problem, created by Aman’Thul’s love to rip things out the ground. Nozdormu said, that Azeroth’s power (magic, if you want) is different from the one of titans. And their is Arcane.
Back when the narrative Team was still capable of being (more or less) consistent, it was stated that Well of Eternity was created by Aman'thul ripping off Y'shaarj from Azeroth (like surgically removing a cancer), and the Arcane Power was literally Azeroth's slumbering titan soul's blood.
I think the last (and only) time we got the interesting new race as an allied races was in BFA with the Zandalari trolls, Vulpera and Kultiran Humans. Since then we had many very awesome races (gnolls and tuskarr??!?!) but it's safe to say that allied races at this point were a BFA feature. The rest is just customization options.
10:26 I believe the terms to use that don't imply a hierarchy like "evolved into" are "more/less derived." Night elves are a more derived form of trolls. It notes the changes and that they share a common ancestor without the implication that one is better than the other.
No he is correct. Things mutate constantly. Evolving is just mutations over a long period of time. The reason people hear "evolved from" and assume superiority is due to darwinists and other unsavory groups hijacking Darwin's science as rhetoric for genocide and racial superiority. In reality there is nothing to suggest that previous species are inferior. They suited their climate better than their descendants would suit that climate. They adapted to the climate they suited best at the time. If they didn't, they'd die due to natural selection. That's all it means. That means any species that is currently alive has spent billions of years evolving.
Derived implies something is taken or obtained from the source. Evolution is still the correct term because Evolution doesn't necessarily imply improvement. It implies adaptation or change for one reason or another. Dark Trolls evolved into Night Elves, and Trolls are still the far superior race.
Natural evolution has never been about getting strictly better without context given. That's Pokémon. For example : "Oh my... the situation has evolved." Could certainly mean the same as "Oh shit there's just been a mass shoting in this hostage situation!"
"Stone Dwarves for the Horde" makes me feel like Horde was an after thought. There's already two dwarf races and they are played by like 4% of the population.
Players:" could we get playable Tuskarr or Arakkoa? perhaps Naga or Ogres as was planned?" Blizzard:" Yeyeah We'll think about it, but we do have Dwarves again! But its still got some troll in'em (oh yeah, we know what the people want)"
As someone who has been roleplaying as a Half Elf Paladin for years, I really do want them ear tips...but I'd settle for the dracthyr ones if I could stay in visage form and play as a paladin too tbh. I like their hairstyle options better anyway.
So true, Blizzard really built the Dracthyr upside down. They have no lore and will never have more, and they only look like an excuse to play half elf without actually being able to. So I just hope they will open classes, I don't care about their reasons. And if they want to actually start working the Evoker lore, they should allow mortal to transform into Dracthyr, like usual Dragonkin lore, and boom, many many possible backstories. Or at least, just allow the choice to play any race using all those customs with nice lizard eyes. We never asked more.
1st - I am sooooo hyped for the Arathi - I have known about them for well... about 18 minutes now, and I am deeply emphatically in love with their look. Ditto on the Harrodin who look just... wow. Just wow. I know it's not likely but I'd especially love it if we could have like, the small elf ears on regular elf models too... WoW floppy long elf ears are... idk. A bit much. Even the short ones are pretty massive. YMMV of course and that's valid. 2nd - Lightforged Undead and Paladins - Honestly I've always thought an undead paladin makes total sense in a sort of self-flagellation way. Like, self loathing undead who will embrace the pain because it is 'just punishment for their abominable existence' (something they would say not something I'd think as a player). It just feels like a thing that would/should exist tbh? That said I'm totally down for Lightforged Undead, just because they seem like a weird and neat concept, and I'm always happy with things getting Weird.
Undead Paladins are exceptionally rare (Sir Zeliek, Leonid Barthalomew) and although they've been around since Vanilla, they haven't been implemented as a class combo for a reason: it would take the exceptionality out of such character and the world would be soon filled with Undead Paladins. Undead Holy priests are as exceptional as paladins lore-wise (Alonsus Faol is the only known character), but game-play reasons allowed them to exist, as it make sense to have Undead Shadow Priests. Lightforge Undead are Danuser's nonsense, and I'm happy they kicked him out: the whole Primus' (what the hell does the Primus knows about Light) answer to Calia make no sense.
I don't agree if the ears. Big long ears, and eyebrows, are especially what makes Warcraft elves so special and epic, and less basic humans, compared to other fantaisies which all look the same. I find those half elves especially light but let's say they're not 50% elves and the original population obviously had more humans in it. (just like their culture shows) I agree on undead paladins, their uniqueness should be preserved but like any other race, they're just priest-warriors in gameplay (it's just that simple, that's something really important to remind about any Vanilla classes (and DK...). There is no consensus and everything HAS TO shift culturally beyond the dumb gameplay) Lightforge undeads are a very good idea and no one knows who found it, they're probably several people and very intelligent and cunning.
Question. This might be a reach but, would that big ass crystal be the tip of Sargeras's sword? Like he was purposely aiming for that area? I mean they kind of teased it in the trailer with thrall and anduin.
No. Even if it sounds like a cool idea. In fact, my intuition is that it's exactly what happened during their brainstorming "hey! what if..." but then they refined the idea, and decided they had to do something different, more intereting than BfA Sillithus v2. (A naaru, again, yeah, but different... and that night-day cycle every few hours is so epic!)
Still sad for getting robot gnomes instead of cool snake people. Warcraft can always use more fantastical races. The Harronir though hitting those nice notes.
@@mossysnail6857 She explains shes much more used to using her shield arm and its just her choice to keep it that way, character flaw maybe but thats honestly a good thing for a character like her

The first thing I thought when I saw the Harronir was quilboar, I meant they've literally got quills and boar tusks. If anything, the Harronir look more like a pre-evolutionary stage of Trolls rather than a missing link between trolls and elves. Wouldn't if be funny if it turns out that trolls evolved from quilboars and this is their missing link?
Nah, those look just like night elves, but cousins. Pre-trolls would look more like Drogbars (it was, in fact, their original concept) If only Dragonflight would have done something interesting, anything, instead of Djaradins. (and Centaurs (and Bronze quests... of hell) )
Yeah, that just sounds weird to direcly have human ears on elves, just like getting FULL elven ears on human. That's a nonsense... But I didn't get to see the model yet. I find their ears very very small too (even Orcs looks more elven in that regard). But well, they're probably not half 50% elves, and more like a greater population of human merged with a few elves, but we'll take these customs anyway, thanks Blizzard.
Have been a loyal night elf enjoyer for 9 years now. And these trolls? they might convince me to play horde... they are INSANELY cool and i wanna know more about their evolution and maybe their connection to the well of eternity, trolls and night elfs from today

The Harronir look more like evolved Quilboars - mouth tusks, fur, quills.
100%. They're covered in quills and are wearing thorns. Quilboar line that has been living next to some Well of Eternity type power source seems almost certain to me.
@@sdnw1840
It happened with the dark trolls, and it sort of happened with the Tauren.
So it happening to the Quillboar doesn’t seem too farfetched.

Because when your race is literally covered with armor, you pretty much only see short, stocky, skinny, wide, or somewhere in between.
depends on your xmog...
@@SupachargedGaming There's the Hrothgar that are like, hunchbacked humans...

Elves are the most volatile element in Azeroth. Move an elf near anything really and they'll evolve, although I'd even say *mutate*, since elves even adapt to their environment during their own lifetime.
*trolls, since they mutated from trolls and also there are plenty of troll variants
I agree. We don't need more elves or holy zombies.
Heck we had playable Nerubians as far back as WC3.. Same w/ Pandaren. Blizz plz..

If we're introducing all these original precursors to the races it's perfect time to finally introduce vrykul

This makes me SO MUCH MORE INTERESTED in this expansion! Horde night elves! Alliance undead! This will be awesome!
Player housing. xD
The Airship is just coded as a NPC like any custom mounts since Dragonflight. It's the Gyrocopter presented in BlizzCon.
@@Aztonio We're still in Alpha. Don't worry about what you think it is now. That can easily be changed, or hidden that way for a surprise reveal. Blizzard does that all the time.

my only nitpick is that the half elve/half trolls mouths kinda "ignore" the tusks so they just look like glued on. they really need to change the lips so that it looks like the tusks are actually coming out of the mouth
Yeah looking at some animations it really looks unfinished (on another hand we're dealing with so much clipping in the game already, we'd rather be able to chose to show our hair for example...)
And also, as trolls decending, they should have their tusks coming from their upper mouth !
They already have shadow using paladins they are called Death knights.
@@darksensai1184 Strictly speaking they use shadowfrost etc. Shadow seems to be solely a Dark Ranger/Shadow Priest/Disc Priest thing.

Given the devastating of the high Elf race, they might have finally realised that they need mixed-race offspring to survive as a people.
I'm guessing the High Elf Race is off the table when Midnight comes out. Since Half Elves are going to be a thing now.

Half allied races in BfA were already too much like custom options without being properly integrated as is.
I still really like the Sethrak. I think they’d make an interesting non-mammal but also a titanforged descendant species for the Alliance.
That means any species that is currently alive has spent billions of years evolving.
this sounds a bit like relativism.
For example : "Oh my... the situation has evolved." Could certainly mean the same as "Oh shit there's just been a mass shoting in this hostage situation!"
at 3:18 I swear I hear the Armani Trolls and now I cant stop picturing Armani Trolls all fashionable and all
Please no Lightforged Undead nor Half Elf unless the Half Elf looks more than just humans with elf ears.
You mean Dracthyr Visage form without the scales ?
The Harronir finally feel like a new race
"Stone Dwarves for the Horde" makes me feel like Horde was an after thought.
There's already two dwarf races and they are played by like 4% of the population.
Players:" could we get playable Tuskarr or Arakkoa? perhaps Naga or Ogres as was planned?"
Blizzard:" Yeyeah We'll think about it, but we do have Dwarves again! Earthen even, the OG dwarves"
Players:" i mean thats ok, but we already have dwarves, you cant just give us an past version of what we already have"
Blizzard:" Say no more, another elf !
Airship is surely the customizable delve mount, yeah?

It is good to see Evitel looking healthy and strong! All the best to you dear.
(just like their culture shows)
I agree on undead paladins, their uniqueness should be preserved but like any other race, they're just priest-warriors in gameplay (it's just that simple, that's something really important to remind about any Vanilla classes (and DK...). There is no consensus and everything HAS TO shift culturally beyond the dumb gameplay)
Lightforge undeads are a very good idea and no one knows who found it, they're probably several people and very intelligent and cunning.

The first thing I thought when I saw the Harronir was quilboar, I meant they've literally got quills and boar tusks. I find their ears very very small too (even Orcs looks more elven in that regard). But well, they're probably not half 50% elves, and more like a greater population of human merged with a few elves, but we'll take these customs anyway, thanks Blizzard.
