We have taken to putting a dot of enamel nail polish on our locks and then also painting the heads of the corresponding keys in the same color. Every lock and key has a different color.
Justin, I am pretty sure you have an airlock in the furnace / heating system. There should be an air bleed screw and or an air accumulator with a Schrader valve on it in the system. The bleed screws are usually at the highest points in the furnace hot water line going to the water heater & and water to air heater exchanger. Also look for an accumulator near the circulating pump at the furnace, it's a peace of iron that the hot water travels through with a brass cylinder on top with a air valve like a bicycle tire air fill valve. Open the valves slightly to let the air out but be careful "the water will be scolding hot". Good luck, Alex
This is what I love about the homestead community on UA-cam. The people are so nice, they have great advice and are so helpful. Honestly I learn a lot from watching and reading the comments. :)👍😊 would be so nice to meet some of the people. Wish some lived nearby. Lol
When my son was little, I put him in a hiking baby carrier while I cooked. He would stand on the stabilizing bar and look over my shoulder while I cooked. It worked perfectly to free my hands and he loved watching me cook. He just turned 28 and is an amazing cook and I know where he gets it! Give it a try! Good luck
I love that you give your children the liberty to create and invent. They’re so young and already so creative and smart I can’t imagine them in their twenties. Holy cow you guys must be so so proud every night
They remind me of my childhood! Dragging my dads tools around to build stuff! He had piles of salvaged wood and scrap metal. 4 girls and we were the ones to help our dad build stuff (he doubled the size of our house). All kids should grow up ‘free ranging’ out doors with tools and fresh air!
For cleaning a poopy udder could you use a garden sprayer filled with warm water and maybe a splash of ACV to help you speed up the pre milking cleaning? An inexpensive dedicated sprayer going out with the other milking supplies. Blessings Jan
if you would use a single axel that spans between the two wheels on your chicken tracktors the weight would be transferred to the wheels instead of the mounting hardware holding the wheels on. would probally solve your issues of the wheels falling off like that. love you and tthe fam
Part that I want to subscribe your vlog is to see you interaction with your family with your wife, kids, & grandma & grandpa. Miss grandma & grandpa to see in your vlog. Also I see your son want to help you is really sweet. As I know child psychology, children at 0--7 yeats old they copy they parents, my mother was a teacher, then, when I was 3 or 4-6 years old I copy mom were busy writing in desk, & pretend I were teaching in front of class ( I copy mom when she teach in her class) And my father too make a toy for his kids from woods, I am so touch by your making kids toy from woods. You teach children how to survive in life in the future: Know how to gardening, to work in the farm: as how to fed pig, cow, etc. And little bit knowledge to build something in woods , just by to watch you mending or build something in Woods. They observe you to gain knowledge. Their grew up later to be a good men, be a good husband, father --copy you. And Liili too so sweet, she is shine & have bright future, because she raise in a loving family. God Bless you all always.
Justin, you need to put the front cover for the furnace back on the furnace in order for the furnace fan to work properly. Right now you are drawing air from the basement and blowing into house and not through the heating coil.
Bleed the heat exchanger. you probably have an air lock Put base board upright between feeders... add 2x4 feet on base and frame up to roof - no floor needed .
The thing about these systems is you need to test them before the need. We had this for years and learned the hot water system the first year. We need to really prepare it before the actual need with a family.
I LOVED it when Jonah said he still had work to do on his sword, and Gideon said I still got work to do aslo.❤. Looks like Jonah may have gotten inspiration from Gideons sword.❤
Justin, Love your channel. As you work towards organization, please consider learning about the 5S program for workplace organization if you haven't already. Could be a game changer for your farm! Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain.
Regarding your cat(s) sleeping in the lettuce: build a second jerry-rigged structure in a second bed that is MORE enticing to cats. Add the fleece, but also add something else to it that the cats would like better than being in the lettuce (some kind of bed, a water dish, a toy dangling from the top/ ceiling, etc.). Because you know they are at least peeing in there, lol.
I can see Jonah loves building and being creative. He could learn blacksmithing and knife making in the future. His attention to detail and creativity would shine if that might be an interest. Whatever he does it is a joy watching what he comes up with next. All of the kids have such great inrerests
My husband worked in a blacksmith shop and they did classes for kids, the girls did so well many being detailed oriented….they need to do more classes on the Appalachian crafts for kids…..or the arts will be lost to junk from China.
As it gets warmer but before spring.... you could divide the poly tunnel with a removable clear plastic wall with a man door in it across the middle. The other half, could still house chickens. With room to get out chickshaw end...This would allow you an area to plant an early crop of cabbage, kale, sprouting broccoli type plants that are plagued by white cabbage moths and slugs outdoors....after chickens have cleared out bugs and larvae this should be a bug free area now. Start more lettuce too...if you start these plants around edges of tunnel it will still allow the rest for your usual crops later..tomatoes ect like last year...while giving you a couple months jump on your outdoor garden, Love you guys.
Justin take that wood room and build in a rack to hold the boards and such and a shelf that holds a tote for the small scrap pieces. Easy to store and find boards and scrap.
In place of bland grocery store tomatoes I buy canned petite tomatoes and drain them for our tacos saving the juice for soups…..they are canned at their peek and taste so much better then fresh winter tomatoes. If I need to add liquid to the meat then I just use the tomato juice I drained… I dehydrate my fresh cilantro and use that in the meat mixture. Why not put chicken wire around your lettuce bed since you have holes they can crawl thru…..have Jonah make them a wooden shelter with some soft rags or a blanket inside of it, elevate it off the ground since cats like to be up higher….I have a cat shelter on my art studio second floor deck and my cat loves it during cold days she goes in and gets warm with the sun on it and I put foam sheets around it and then plastic to hold in her body heat…..at night we put her inside the barn room that has heat, her food and water…she’s kept in when the temp drops down low. You know that lettuce bed is their litter box, soft and easy to use…🤢
If one line is really hot going into the heater and the other one is just warm. I would suspect the pump being bad or air in the line causing it to not circulate. Your system is to new for the coil to be stopped up. You need to check for volume at the return hose at the stove.
Take the thermometer and do a temp rise. Check the temp of the air where the coil is and on top of the gas furnace. Also close the door to the blower motor it’s pulling in air from the room. If it’s still not working it could be air locked and you’d need to bleed the system. Hope that helps!
Mr. Rhodes, you probably have checked this out already but if your heating system has a filter, maybe it needs changing? My forced air recommends changing it annually. btw make sure to look for the arrow on the filter which shows air flow direction. Take care, love your family.
Hello great video. I know why your having trouble with the mobile chicken coop. Take and get a pipe that the tread rod will fit in and weld a nut on each end that will tread on the rod. Screw the rod in it and 6"-8" drill a hole in the pipe and rod then put a carter pin or 1/4" bolts in it to lock it from moving. Then drill 2 holes in the pipe so you can bolt it to the wood framing so it will stay in place and you shouldn't have anymore problem with it. Let me know what you think about my idea.
If you want to try the only chili we have used for many years try Chugwater Chili, from Chugwater Wyo, home of Jill Winger. Use a small amount at first until you find out what your children can tolerate. Add some cumin, paprika, garlic, cilantro etc. I use it for tacos, Chile beans etc. Not bitter or harsh like Chile powder but it can get spicy depending on the amount you use. Blessings Jan
My boiler system in Europe got air locked and didn’t heat the house. The controller showed a fault but I couldn’t figure it out. Called my landlord and he came and bled the system and that fixed the problem. One thing I could do is turn the system off, let us set a bit, and then start it back up and it would begin to heat until the airlock stopped the flow again. I’d bet you that’s your issue here Justin. Is your system not giving you a fault at all about the low pressure on the return line?
You have to glue the handle and put the pins in. Fit your pins like you have already then take it apart and glue it then put pins back. The finish shaping and design of your handle.
How about bring a garden sprayer full of warm water to spray off and clean that cow udder? Spray and wipe, spray and wipe. I bet it would go a lot faster. Just keep the sprayer with the rest of your milking things.
Henry is with you all the time. Learning to talk from you while you talk with making the videos. With you when doing chors , making things. He loves it, he never cries, I hear him talking when you are talking. He wants to see you cook also. Not sit on the floor with cold metal pots (lol). He is going to be cooking in a few years like the other children.
I enjoy your videos. You guys have great kids! They help out and seem so smart about everything going on. You and your wife have taught them well. Also there seems to always be something needing fixed just part of life I suppose.
You can get a chili powder that is not hot or grow chilis next year to dehydrate your own chili powder. I also like to add coriander to my Mexican blend of flavorings, it smells like Trix cereal but adds a ton of flavor. Your wood storage stall needs attention, putting perpendicular wood or pipe on the wall spaced a few feet apart will allow you to sort and "hang" boards by size and length with the added benefit of freeing up the floor and giving you more room for more boards.

You may have an air block in your line at your furnace. This has happened to us before and your line may need to be purged of air. Otherwise I trust you checked to make sure all your interior pumps are on?

He goes back to India this time of year to visit quite often, to visit his mother. He will be posting on his own channel while he is over there. He usually stays about three months. He stated on his channel that he hopes to find property in the same area as Justin when he returns to finally start his own homestead. His channel name is Arun Kumar.
Justin, could you use a hand pump garden sprayer filled with hot water or very warm water insulated to hold the heat on cold days, so you could easily clean the cows for milking? Just a thought. ♡
Can you share how you guys keep organized to better manage all homestead tasks including homeschooling? For example do you guys keep a homestead binder? Homeschool planner/binder ? And if so what does it include ? Again if so can you share a pdf/ printable version? You guys really seem to have a good grasp on this and being that I also have 5 children I homeschool ages 6-14 , we have a garden , chickens and ducks I could really use these type of tools in my arsenal and who better to ask then you guys❤️? Hope you guys have a great day and look forward to y’all’s response.
May I suggest if anyone puts fuel tanks in make sure you have it placed away from your home or barn…. A neighbors barn caught on fire and their propane tank was next to the barn therefore causing an explosion that rocked his farm and others in the area.

Hey Justin. Do put a continuous axle from wheel to wheel on your chick-shaws. You seem to have to fix them a lot the way they are done currently with a short one. Hey ho!
Would you guys consider putting some of the recipes you guys use when cooking on here? I really want to know how to make your Guac and salsa. Thank you! P.S. my children and I really enjoy watching your channel. And have for a couple years now. Thanks for giving us a small glimpse of your life as a family.
"I mean, how necessary is salsa?" I have never seen a man rethink his life so fast! "Anything for the beautiful one." Correct choice chosen. Way to pick your battles! 🤣

That’s what caused my system like this to not hear in Europe when I lived there. The landlord had to come out and bleed to air and it fixed the issue.
Great advice 👍🏼
It’s so nice of you to give him advice. If more people were like you the world would be a much better place

Get a water filled fire extinguisher to rinse off Fossies udder in the field. Keep it at low pressure and store it somewhere at room temperature.
Now. Nice family vlog!
Mr Brown just keeps me laughing because he’s hiding all the time and Justin is on his game! 😂🤣🤩🤩🤩👏👏👏💯💯💯
Looks like this winter you could organize that scrap wood stall. Build some shelves and barrels for the really small stuff.
As it gets warmer but before spring.... you could divide the poly tunnel with a removable clear plastic wall with a man door in it across the middle. The other half, could still house chickens. LOL My dyslexic ass read "What I should have done 15 years ago, for my Children" and I was expecting a wholesome sit down talk chore video haha
It could the brass fittings connecting to the pex there is a reaction chemically. Also is hard water or manganese building in your coils.

Any word on how Arum and his mother are doing? Truly miss his smiling Face each day.
Is he coming back?
Arun said on his channel,he will try film from India and yes he is coming back.this is a trip he takes just about every yr
Updating on Arun is really the least the Rhodes can do, after all he has meant to this chanel.
Tried to find Arun's You Tube channel. No luck. Anyone know the name of his channel? Thanks in advance.

Something crazy is happening. We have had 70 degrees in Nebraska a couple of days this week already.
I live in Minnesota and I remember a day when it got to 80 degrees in early December. That was several years ago. We had a snow day on May 5th too!
You can speed up the lardo by using a cheese grater to shred it into the pan instead of slicing larger chunks. Smaller is faster in cooking.
I busted up laughing 😂 when you‘found’ your cat, he looked t you like, “hey boss, what are you doing here? You found my private sanctuary 💜😆”

I think I know what's on the list for next year's canning...salsa.
13:52.. had me looking twice!

Air locked coil , check for a air separater
I love the fact that tools can only be found by looking for then my be that's why the all had locked and where wodden, so only the owner had the key!!!!
Why not can salsa in high tomato season to use all winter/spring? @SimpleLivingAlaska has a fantastic salsa canning video!
Burning up cooking show turned out great Justin, of course with the beautiful one's help! I hope you get to fix the heating! God bless! Hugs🤗💜🤗
I love this makes me and my wife feel like we can start this life. We feel the reality of this.
You may have an air block in your line at your furnace. This has happened to us before and your line may need to be purged of air. Otherwise I trust you checked to make sure all your interior pumps are on?
You should get a Bucketeer from Bucket Boss. It organizes your tools in a 5 gallon bucket. Perfect for projects!
there has to be a shut off valve for the house heat that isn't open
Check out the Milwaukee Pack-out System or dewalt’s version for your tools. The pack out has nice big wheels for pulling your tools around off road.
Justin...
Tell that Genius Oldest... Your vision. On the chicken mineral shaw and see what He creates.

Just add the kelp to their feed as well as the mineral balancer when you ferment
I had an idea for the poopy udders, one of those pump sprayers, like you use for weeds or insects. I tune in first thing every morning. Love you guys!
How do you not have tomatoes after gardening all summer 😂❤️
Is lunch your main meal of the day? Do you have a post/list of all your favorite kitchen items?
What 4 minerals your said? Couldn’t understand some of them, kelp, grit and… thank you for your explanation
What are you going to do now for the rabbits living situation?????
