I’m going on Accutane in about 3 weeks and I’m so excited, but nervous at the same time. I have struggled with painful cystic acne on my cheeks and chin, as well as chest acne. I’ve tried everything and this is my last resort. Watching your videos has helped me understand more about Accutane and its pros and cons. Thank you for documenting your Accutane progress! It has really helped!

claire strubberg I so hope it works for you! My sons struggled with acne as did my husband and I hate it for you guys. It’s such a rough thing to deal with. Differn gel has really helped my 20 year old son. I just learned about it so I had him try it. As a parent you hate to see your kids struggle and I’m glad they worked for him. I didn’t want him to have to try accurate if we could avoid it.

I went on Accutane about 4 years ago while I was in high school. After trying every acne product on the market, my dermatologist decided it was time to try it. It was a LIFE CHANGER however that was not many videos on UA-cam on what to use/buy when it comes to side effects. I got extremely dry skin during that time and tried so many products. This video is going to be extremely beneficial to those on it or about to start. Great video, new subscriber here!

That aquaphor healing ointment is in my house 100% of the time. It's INCREDIBLE for burns, even sun burn (no open wounds though, obviously), and it helped heal my tattoos with zero scabbing. Zero. Incredible product.

Starting Accutane in 2 weeks! I’m 25. I had the normal teenage acne here and there, then my skin was beautiful up until the last 2 years. It’s become cystic and painful all on the bottom half of my face. I’ve tried all the treatments, antibiotics, topicals, you name it. Accutane is my last resort but I’m actually excited at this point. Hoping for the best! People truly do not understand how much it negatively impacts your mental health, social life, and confidence. I will post updates if anyone wants to follow... maybe one day I will post a video of all my before and hopefully “after!!” Pictures. Thank you Tay! Been following you for 10 years ❣️☺️

    • @lorenswagerty9875
      @lorenswagerty9875 Рік тому

@@ridamansoor9561omg i forgot i commented on this! It’s completely gone now. Last summer it was completely gone too but my skin was very sensitive to the sun for the first time. But this summer I was fine! I don’t know the last time I had a “big” zit or breakout. I occasionally have a really small one but it’s gone quick and like really small that it’s no problem covering with makeup or even tinted moisturizer. I can actually wear tinted moisturizer and some powder and feel confident about my skin now!! Basically all my dark spots that I had are gone. I just turned 28 October 1st. I remember running to put on my makeup anytime anyone showed up to the door and not wanting to go anywhere even with makeup and now I don’t even think about it or hardly do a full face anymore. My skin is more normal/dry so I’ve switched to more “dewy” light weight foundations and cream products for the first time in my life! It was very worth it and I have no regrets and am so happy I did it!

Hi Taylor!! I’m 18 and I’ve been suffering from acne since around the 3rd grade and it’s really taken a toll on my self confidence over the years. It’s gotten a tiny bit better, but I have a lot of scarring and I struggle a lot with makeup because nothing seems to look good on my skin, at least I really think so. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a makeup artist struggle with acne or any other if any skin issues like I have so it’s really discouraging to not be able to relate to anyone in the makeup community. However, I recently started watching you and you’ve helped me try to get into makeup again and take care of my skin a lot better than I used to. I support you so much. Much love!!! ❤️

Thanks girl I am a medical esthetician, I’m going to send a few of my regular clients to your videos for the advice❤️I hate having my clients on super expensive spa grade products while on accutane because in my opinion it’s a waste unless it’s a very soothing mask for once a week and I’m not versed on drugstore as much as I would like to be❤️😘I recommend not as expensive products and soothing and hydrating facial treatments as often as needed but keeping it simple is very good advise

The cerave moisturizing cream in the big tub is also excellent for body and face. Great for sensitive skin, dry skin, eczema and a little more affordable than the cerave cream with the pump or the renewing face cream. I love the feel on the skin, leaves no residue, instantly helps dryness. Love it.

I wish I had this when I was on accurate. Sadly, I was in the 30%, so I was on it for 3 times it total before I gave up. What has since saved my skin has been monthly facials, and eminence organic skin care. Super effective, results oriented and worth every penny. It has literally saved my skin. They have a great rose hip CE oil and I swear by their red currant spf, and their clear skin line. It had transformed my skin now. So glad! I love watching your videos. Keep up the great work!!

I ordered the shade 207 so awesome a tad too light so I ordered the 209 it arrived yesterday. I mixed the 2 together. You should see my face , I cannot belive it is me staring back at me in the mirror. The 2 shades mixed together is a perfect color for me. I also ordered the SIgna f 80 brush from Norstrom. So love it works so beautifully with the Dermacol. I also ordered the Dermacol gold anti aging . The make up glides on so beautfully, I also ordered the Dermacol powder that sets everything . I feel so good about myself it like I had a face lift my face looks so fresh & new I do not know how I can ever thank you I am 68 & feel young again hugs ( Judy )

Glad these worked for you Taylor! I went on Accutane in 2016 and I used some of the products you mentioned: Aquaphor, CeraVe hydrating cleanser. Instead of the night cream and the daily moisturizer I used the CeraVe PM and AM facial moisturizers. Seriously drink a toooooonnnnnn of water and don’t touch your skin or apply any unnecessary products. I used Kat Von D Lock-it foundation in light 44 (1 pump facial lotion to 1 pump foundation) and that worked for me. Unfortunately my acne seems to be hormone related. Stayed clear after Accutane, maybe due to the fact I was on birth control. However the last 4-5 months I’m breaking out again, not as bad as before but I’m my opinion still not great, because my husband and I are trying for a baby. Good luck everyone going on an Accutane journey. Remember this is only temporary, you can get through it. I plan to go on another round after a baby and breast feeding. Pray for my skin and for a baby!! Lol

I use the Aquaphor for my face, lips, under eyes, and everything to do with my body skin. Several years ago I had surgery on my back and the doctor said NO antibiotics NO nothing except Aquaphor. That was my first big experience with the product and I was shocked at how well I healed, how fast I healed, no infection, and the lack of scaring. I use Aquaphor as body lotion (even though it's like vaseline in texture - it soaks in) in place of the First Aid cream which I found wasn't strong enough and didn't moisturize as well - Aquaphor lasts for hours and so you save money in the long run. Aquaphor is great for everything. Best place to buy Aquaphor is CVS when you have a coupon and/or a sale OR of course Amazon. I'm never without it. There are tubs of it stashed in most rooms of the house and of course in my purse.
They even have Aquaphor Baby now as well.
BTW - I LOVE your naked eye look with the red lipstick. Outstanding.

Just wanted to throw out there that if you have a ragweed allergy you should pay attention if you start taking the milk thistle supplement. They're in the same family and you can essentially be triggering inflammation and allergy response in yourself by taking it. (So is chamomile, and echinacea.) Doesn't happen to everyone so this isn't some scare monger thing, just watch for persistent headaches after taking, swollen joints, or strange itchy splotches.

I have finished accutane this April, my skin was so stubborn I had to take it for a little longer than 6 months I took it for over 8 months, but it was so worth it at the end. I feel like people demonize accutane so much ( like a lot of other things) on the internet , sure it is a serious drug but if it is your last option I would say go for it. My dryness was concentrated in my eyes and sinuses. My eczema didn't flare up. My anxiety was not affected either. Other than those and my dermatologist's bad products recommendations it was a good experience.

PS. Aquafore is the absolute best for dealing with babies struggling with diaper rash. One of my kids had horrible diaper rash (he was so sensitive that I had a list of things I could not eat because things I ate would cause his skin to just breakdown). Anyway, we actually consulted a wound care specialist who recommended it. It’s magic stuff!

I don’t have acne. I never did. I’ll probably never need Accutane and I’m 30. But I am so interested to watch this for some reason. Lol. I’m so happy for you that you had such great results with it! Your skin looks amazing!

I love that you did this and the other videos! I know they've helped people take on this journey a little easier! I wish I would have had someone telling me their story 16 years ago when I did my 9 month treatment. Totally worth all that I went through though. Your skin looks amazing Taylor and I think your confidence is a lot higher too! Feeling good looking great!

I'm so glad someone is finally talking about the CeraVe cleanser! I've been using that stuff for like 8 years, and it's the best and most inexpensive cleanser I've ever found! The moisturizer that goes with it is bomb too.

Thank you for sharing your journey. It is so brave and so compassionate to provide individuals with helpful information that is excellent and based on personal experience. God bless you. Your skin looks amazing, but as you well know nothing the best things come from hard work and diligence. You are an excellent role model, and I truly appreciate your loving, giving character. You deserve all the best in life because you have earned it. You rock!

I am starting accutane in a month. I'm excited for the results, but super nervous about side effects, especially since my skin is combination with oily t-zone but has patches (like around my eyes and on my neck) that get so dry they burn and become leathery. Your videos are so incredibly helpful, this one especially. I will certainly be trying these products together as simple, yet moisturizing sounds like the best plan. There are so many skin products that claim to help with these things, but navigating them and trying to pick which to try first makes my head spin. Thank you SO much for your openness and tips!

im not on accutane, but i bought most of these products after your skincare routine because i started using Retin A and benzoyl peroxide and my skin was sooo dry and sensitive. these products have literally saved my skin!! thank u!!!

I just want to say that I was on accutane last year to early this year and couldn’t agree more about starting using the products earlier than the pills. I started using the things I used on accutane about a week and a half before and apart from my lips had zero dryness elsewhere. And I still use the products after I finished using accutane as well!

So thankful for this video! I have body and facial eczema and am currently on day 3 of accutane. I was looking for gentle but effective skin care, and I really appreciate this video. My eczema has been pretty terrible recently, even before starting the accutane, so I'm hoping to calm it down a bit with some of these products. Thank you!

A friend referred me over here. My doctor and I just decided it was time for accutane, nothing else was really working, and the other stuff we could have tried he felt like wouldn’t have been effective at all. I’m definitely nervous but excited. My mom has had huge craters develop in her skin from cystic acne, and I started showing cystic acne about in middle school, I’m 21 now. Mine is not near as bad as hers, but my goal is to prevent that. Curology was actually the only thing that really helped, but it didn’t kick it completely, and it came back after I stopped. I’m just tried of all the pain, and struggle. Picking up my prescription later today I hope.

I got the rose hip oil because of you. I love it! My skin is combo and no real issues except sometimes breakouts on my chin. I've found the oil helps so much, plus I'm in my mid-30s and I swear it is helping my fine lines.

If you can't afford La Rosh Posay or want a cheaper alternative I highly recommend Vanicream- I get it at Walgreens it isn't super cheap but everything is under $25. I wait for sales and for me to have the $5 off from my points. It is formulated by the Mayo Clinic- basically everything "free". My dermatologist turned me on to it and it has become my holy grail for face cleanser, day moisturizer, and day moisturizer with sunscreen. Under makeup I don't get a whole lot of flashback...without makeup I do if that is important to you.

Currently going through my 4th month of accutane and I don’t feel that my skin is progressing as well as yours did. BUT I have been using the CereVe night cream per your recommendation and I love it! Also had some rosehip oil from before accutane that I am going to start using at night to hopefully help scaring. Thank you for the helpful video! Best accutane videos on UA-cam! So very helpful

I posted this in another comment. Highly recommend the brand *Vanicream* it is for sensitive skin and basically everything *free* (I have no affiliation or anything just love their products). I use the sunscreen, moisturizer and cleanser. It is a cheaper alternative to the La Rosh Posay (which brok me out). BF has eczema and it is one of the few things that doesn't burn for him on it and it doesn't break me out at all.

I just wanna thank you so much for this series! I started accutane in 2015 and it would’ve have been incredibly helpful to have something like this at the time (especially from one of my fav youtubers). Unfortunately, my results didn’t last so I’m starting treatment again in a month or two. I remembered these videos and am now looking back to make sure I’ll be prepped for the awful side effects this time around. Thank u for all the recommendations 💓💓💓

You can drink, you just need to be careful. As with most medicines that are absorbed by your liver, you can't go too hardcore.

One girl in my school drank while on accutane, and we were on the football field (high school) & she just threw-up and passes out. The ambulance were called and she got suspended for a long time. So I don’t recommended drinking while taking any medication...

You can drink. It just puts more pressure on your liver. Talk to your doctor about it if you’re worried. You don’t want to be drinking often but ya know once a week night out or just a casual wine a night isn’t going to kill you.

This couldn’t have come at a better time! I just started Accutane (day 12 today!) and I am sooooo excited to see results! But my skin and scalp are flakey af and my lips are drier than I ever thought they could be. I’m using Vaseline, Laneige lip mask, and the Bite beauty agave lip mask, but none of them help. I’ll give Aquafor a shot!

I used to love the ordinary rosehip but have converted to the ordinary marula. It doesn’t cause breakouts but seems more plumping and smoothing. Plus adding a drop over my face after my moisturiser seems to give a beautiful finish to any foundation I use. Worth a try.
