I had a friend in HS who went on accutane and went on a beach vacation and never wore sunscreen and got a 2nd degree burn from the sun. She was out of commission for weeks bc of it! Y'all, wear your sunscreen!
Kathryn Coursey omg yea I was on accutane for 8 months during the fall & winter of 2017/2018, & then during the summer I traveled to france and was at the beach for maybe 2 hours? And I am really big on sunscreen, yet I still got these really weird swollen red and sensitive areas on my thighs, like basically the entire front of my thighs were two red, super sensitive, hot and swollen hotdogs. Guys, PLEASE stay the FUCK out of the sun for at least a year after your accutane treatment, I’d honestly recommend to be very careful with the sun for around 2-3 years after. Just be careful please
You friend sounds very stupid, your GP/Dr tells you to wear SPF always when using Accutaine/Roaccutiane/Topicals before giving you them. Hopefully she learnt a lesson
@@LeviAlexanderF yeah, it was not a bright move. But I feel like most people who aren't "into skincare" that sunscreen is the least of their priorities.

Hi Susan I have a question for a dermatologist which I would like to know the answers to. Could you get in contact with me so I can get the correct information. Thanks
I was on Accutane a few years back. 100% was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life. Still have ridiculously dry lips as a lasting side effect, but it’s worth it. Followed up with microneedling treatments for scarring ⭐️ My skin was a little worse than Dawson’s, I was swollen and working in the skincare business. I was embarrassed. I kept my head down always. I felt people wouldn’t take my advise on skincare with my own face looking the way it did. Accutane was incredible.
I just finished Accutane 3 months ago and just finished my second round of microneedling!!! My skin is looking so good I just wished I did this medication earlier to avoid scarring.
Madison A yes! I did a few sessions, I bought a bundle with the esthetician I went to, I did a bundle of three, you have to do a few sessions to start seeing results usually. But it faded my scars and brightened my complexion! I definitely recommend it if you’re thinking about it!
Watching derm reacts, especially ones that tackle skin problems like acne, makes me wish I studied dermatology instead. I'm happy as an engineer but the science and medicine of skin is just so fascinating.
I got on Accutane at the age of 24 (1980), hence it was too late to avoid the scarring. Still, from the very first pill, that was IT! I've never had a pustular cyst since. I remember having to go for blood tests for liver function before and during the treatment. I wonder if that is still part of the treatment. I'm happy for Dawson... he is on the right track and so young! Great video.
I went on isotretinoin about five years ago, and yes, regular blood tests are still a must! Testing for pregnancy, leverfunction, kidney function, and cholesterol once a month before getting a new prescription :)
I used accutane as a teenager and it made me severely suicidal and depressed. I HIGHLY recommend Epiduo!! Accutane really cleared my skin up and Epiduo helped keep the cystic acne away. Cetaphil cleanser, moisturizer, aquaphor for healing ointment. My nose would bleed everyday on accutane. It was honestly the best/worst moment of my highschool career.
I'm glad to see someone speaking out on the side effects Accutane has, I've also experienced some major suicidal moments when I was on it and it triggered my anxiety and depression. It did work, it also made my existing scarring a bit better, but my acne came back a few years after I was done with the treatment when I was very stressed out. So yeah it worked for a very short amount of time for me, now my acne is back, not as widespread as it was before, but the scarring is way worse now. I think people should be more careful with it, it's a harsh medication, it's not just fun and games.
I had a few pimples here and there through high school and thought that would be the extent of it, but had a terrible breakout when I became an adult. Because I was dealing with moderate adult acne I tried so many different things and delved deep into reading and listening to whatever I could find about acne, skincare, and products. Five or so years later I'm finally understanding what to do and why and my skin is healing. Now I just want to help anyone I can so they don't have to waste time and money like I did and am always so happy when I see others doing the same. Thank you so much for this video I hope those who need this will find it.
Hemp seed oil and rose hip seed oil (along with moisturizers) and drinking 4-5L of water a day have been the key to keeping my skin soft and hydrated during my course of Accutane!
I have had acne since I was 10 years old. Now I'm 20, and my skin is much ok. I have used many soaps, creams and antibiotics, but did not see any improvements. I do like that you cover someone who was male, teenage, and on medication for acne but I hope you could still have separate ones for just males of different ages. I also do like that the dermatologist really showed the distinction between male and female skincare is not always so different including when using medication.
Sarah Anom Girl!! Yes! I’ve been on tret for a month now, and between the tret , glycolic acid, AHA and BHAs plus my vitamin C I need help!! I’ve stopped it all basically and just getting through my tret and I’ll slowly add my vitamin c in the AM eventually but for now everything is too much. In the morning I’m toning , moisturizing and adding sun screen. At night I’m washing, using tret and moisturizing.. that’s all I can tolerate now 😭 using tret 3 times a week
I'd love to see that! I use dapsone (twice daily) and tretinoin (night only) and I'd love to see what products they recommend with these prescriptions. I'm also at a loss when it comes to the dapsone gel as I'm not sure where in the skincare routine it should go and if I can add in other actives with it (Vitamin C especially).
Ana Castrillon hi! I’m on tret and I completely stopped using glycolic acid. You have to be super careful with any other active while using tret. I also only use it once or twice a week after my moisturizer and still use my actives (salycilic acid cleanser couple times a week, lactic or mandelic acid in the morning sparingly) once or twice a week and focus on hydration and antioxidants. I hope this helps!
I took Accutane in my mid to late 20s and can say without a doubt that it was one of the best medicines I’ve ever taken. I wish more derms would prescribe it more readily. Some are quite hesitant in prescribing this amazing drug - especially to female patients. Happy New Year, all!
I'm on accutane now and I changed my routine from an oily skin one to a dry sensitive one. I even switched my foundation from a matte to a dewy one which can still end up looking matte on me. I use a gentle cleanser, a hydrating toner and serum. Along with a heavy moisturizer and of course spf during the day. I apply everything while my skin is damp and I wait about 20 seconds before applying the next layer. I do the same thing at night except I oil cleanse and then follow with the steps. I skip the spf and add an oil instead. My skin has not peeled and hasn't been too dry because I have my routine down pact. Lubricating eye drops and a heavy lip balm are a must. I don't regret going on accutane at all. My skin is so clear and I don't have any scarring. The side effects for me have been minimal and I do recommend it if you have had acne for years and everything else has failed.
@@jonathan1636 welcome, just warning point that it can make you suicidal without medical supervision, do blood tests every mounth, i had accutane because i went to every thing from antibiotics to pills and my acne was painful, its been 5 months post accutane and my skin still clear.
Because a senator lost his son while he was on this. He was also taking several other medications, but since he was a senator he did his hardest to ban the drug ACCUTANE which is now commonly named isotrention
@@fletcherxdesign yeah i get your point, especially what damage acne can do to your skin and self esteem, it's on a point that you just want that pain to end whataver you touch a pimple by accident, i feel more confident about myself now!
The point about waxing is SO important, when I was on Accutane I ripped my skin right off my upper lip by waxing. It hurts a lot, please just don’t wax.
I love these more medical videos with plenty of more information, really shows how much more goes into skin conditions than just pore size, dryness, and oiliness.
I’m so glad you guys had this one today. I am on topical tretinoin but I’ve heard a lot of bad things about Accutane and about how it is so bad for your body and all the side affects that come with it. But my brother had skin like Dawson and he was in Accutane for a few years up until he graduated college and his skin is clear now so I guess it works great for a lot of ppl. So glad you guys do these videos. ❤️
So happy to see this!! I’m turning 30 in February and I just started Accutane a month ago. My body is like the Sahara desert!!! 🌵 I use a hyaluronic acid serum, then the cerave pm lotion THEN I incorporated Jojoba oil to finish it off because I was soooo dry!! I never though I would ever use a face oil but it has been the one thing that has saved me from flaking all day! Anyways I’m rambling 😂 love you all 💗
These are all great products to use even after accutane, really. I was on accutane from 2015-2016. It changed my life for the best. For me month 2 and 3 were the most challenging: very dry skin rashes on my hands and neck, random nose bleeds, dandruff like crazy, and permanently dried out lips. I never experienced the mental health issues during my 6 months but know I was very lucky to experience what were seemingly easy-going but highly standard physical side effects. My advice to anyone undergoing it would be to do your reasearch, drink hella water, ban all alcohol consumption, lotion tf up day and night, make chapstick medicated and neutrogena suncreen your best friends, have patience, and the best of luck on your skincare journey!
OMG THE BEST VIDEO EVER! Thanks Dawson for uploading the video and Susan for choosing it! I am currently on Accutane, but in my country we call it different, but it's the same 🤷🏻♀️ Im on the stage where i am super dry, the contour of my eyes are sometimes red and sensitive just like my lips of course. I also recently discover CeraVe for Susan and Hyram youtube channels and im really thankful for it. I and use Aquaphore by Eucerin for the lips and the contour of my eyes at night. Thanks for everything you guys do for us who are struggling with the same issues, you guys are awsome💓
THANK YOU 😭😭😭 I am on month 3 rn, my skin is killing me. I love you Susan ♥️⭐️ thank you for doing a video on this! I’ve been begging other skincare influencers to cover this!
My dermatologist had the opposite opinion, I didn’t start until 26 y/o. Only because the chances of an individual staying clear grow after 23/24 years old. I can fix my scars, I would not want to be on this course again.
IMPORTANT!: If you plan on using actuate or antibiotics for your skin you should talk to your doctor about the effects it may have on your gut biome. I used accurate many years ago and it worked to clear my skin but it ravaged my gut biome. I continue to have stomach problems because of it. There have been class action lawsuits against accutane related to gastrointestinal problems. Understand that a dermatologist is a specialist and they focus on their area of expertise and that their success in treating an issue may come with adverse side effects in others areas of your health. If you choose to use accutane you need to investigate probiotics and probiotic foods. I wish I had known about the risks to gut health health this medication can cause it would have saved me a lot of pain and suffering.
Totally agree with you, after reading this it makes sense to me why im having stomach issues. Dermatologists never ever talk about your gut health, or the side effects of taking these harsh medicines. I believe everything starts with the gut health and taking care of it is key.
@@designbyshivani I would disagree on the never part. I successfully completed accutane, but while being monitored constantly for side effects from my dermatologist. There were monthly appointment check ins where we discussed my gastrointestinal and my mental health, with blood tests to check for changes in lipid levels. It was an involved process, but I felt very thoroughly evaluated and was given tons of literature. She said it was all standard procedure, so I hope others do as well.
My daughter has Colitis after being on Accutane. She was in the hospital for almost 2 weeks, and now has infusions every 8 weeks. This definitely needs to be discussed! No history of any kind of IBS in the family. I wish we never put her on it.
Daryen Ambrose if your having stomach problems I think you should get a colonoscopy because accutane can cause IBD and if left untreated you could get colon cancer.
I was on accutane during college and had a very different experience, so I wanted to share some things that worked for me. I feel that accutane was one of the best things I have done for my skin, but to be honest, the process was rough. For me, my skin got A LOT worse before it got better. During the first 2 months of treatment, my acne was worse than it had ever been. But during the 3rd month, I started to notice improvements. By the end (I think 5 months) my skin was completely clear. I just want to reassure people that it will eventually work and don’t get discouraged!! Also, everything was really dry. My eyes got really dry, so I recommend using lubricating eye drops daily. Also, my lips pealed, and the only thing that worked for me was aquaphor. I tried pretty much every lip balm, and that proved itself to be the most effective. It’s also very important to moisturize your entire body. My hands especially got very dry. Lastly, don’t forget the nose!! I would get some nosebleeds because of the dryness. It’s important to put some aquaphor up there too!! Love these videos Susan!!
Loved this video! Susan please do a video reacting to Summer McKeen’s video titled “I went To Kendall Jenners dermatologist to save my skin.” She claims that this dermatologist advised her to not use moisturizer or sunscreen while on Accutane! He also had her using Stridex pads on her face which would be too harsh on the skin while on Accutane! He also did a chemical peel on her while she was on Accutane! I would love to get your opinion on all of this! There’s more worse stuff in the video you’ll just have to watch it but it’s bizarre! No hate to Summer Mckeen I love her but it all just seems weird to me!
I LOVE Accutane it saved my skin and it's cleared up all the scarring I had. Will always recommend it. I didn't have any major side effects besides the SEVERE dry skin and sore joints and muscles and then afterward my hair fell out but only for about a month
Was on accutane two separate times as a teenager, had horribly chapped lips and awful joint and tendon pain both times. I also didn't have a skincare routine at that point in my life since I was never even once referred to a dermatologist. I had great skin for a couple of years until I went on birth control exactly once, for 3 months. When I got off it my hormonal acne came back with a vengeance. Now I'm just trying to survive with The Ordinary products but almost all of my scarring came after the birth control. Just about every zit leaves permanent scarring. Fun life in my mid-20s.
Having a great derm is EVERYTHING when you're on Accutane/isotretinoin. I took isotretinoin almost a decade ago and I've had clear skin ever since (I get the occasional hormonal spot, but that's expected as a menstruating person). My derm warned me to watch out for mood swings and just knowing they could be coming helped a lot. She also recommended cetaphil and cerave products, along with auquaphor for lips and nose, sleeping with a humidifier was a pro tip, and I always had a bottle of water with me. I had a purging period that my derm warned me about and that was hard but it was totally worth it for me.
Hey can I ask you something?? My dermatologist told me that I shouldn’t use any products on my skin while I am on my accutane medication. She just told me to use lip balm and Vaseline on my nose. But should I use a cleanser/moisturizer or something for my skin instead of only the accutane??
I took Accutane in 1995/1996. It took two courses and it was brutal. Lips practically fell off, massive joint pain, constant blood work was necessary. The corners of my mouth scabbed. It was absolute brutal.
Could you be having hormonal breakouts? When I started my accutane regimen many many yrs ago. My doctor told me that I would still have breakouts hear and there.
I took my last accutane pill yesterday , hooray ! , it was a 7 month journey full of emotions and dryness , but I must say I absolutely love the results , never looked better , I would absolutely recommend it to everybody with cystic acne. It’s a life changer
Went on accutane (full dose) and my acne came back worse than before! Then I went on a mild birth control pill and Spironolactone and I have perfect skin now that never ever breaks out no matter how I change up my routine. If you think your acne is hormonal I highly recommend this route- I struggled for SO many years and now I never have to wear foundation :))
My dermatologist literally told me nothing about what I should use during my accutane course. And the same thing has happened which each retinoid and other topical that I've been on. I've gone to a lot of derms over my 30 years with acne & hyperpigmentation and none have ever given any details unless I ask questions and even when I do ask questions, they give the shortest answer. Thank god, I researched and always knew what my skin needed, but I think of all the people that had no idea what to do and ended up in a world of hurt. It is sad that it is so rare to find a doctor (in any field) that actually explains things.
I had the same issues with acne in my early twenties. My acne startet when I was around sixteen. I went on antibiotics three times and everytime I stopped using my skin just exploded.I really had to fight for appointment with dermatologist. I got my accutane treatment in 2015 and since then my skin has never been better. First my skin reacted after few days by peeling off and it felt so bad and dry. I tought it was worst thing ever and nothing helped to calm it down. I wish I had good skincare routine back then. Now my skintype is different and sometimes I struggle to find good products for myself. All in all I'm glad I went trough all of that. Good luck in your journey Dawson!!
I was on isotretinoin for about a year when I was 26. Low dosage, probably 20mg? For me, three things: aquaphor for the lips, La Roche Possay Toleriane Ultra for the face, and Vichy Ideal Soleil for oily skin as SPF. As I love to wear make up, I got my first beauty blender and switched the regular Ideal Soleil for the BB version of it, and that helped me to reapply my sujscreen and not leave too many dry patches on my skin. Also it is important to know that if you have oily scalp, you'll probably fall in love with isotretinoin. I only had to wash my hair twice a week, it was glorious! But you have to take care of your new normal to dry hair as well.
I'm almost two years off Accutane meds now and ohmygod this would have helped me so much when I was on Accutane. Can you imagine, I didn't think I needed moisturiser!!! It was worth it though, skin is alot clearer now and I'm working decreasing the appearance of scars :)
Did you experience any relapse? , plus whats your skin care after accutane. And i wanted to know, if i can use Tretinoin cream, after my accutane treatment is completed, will the Tretinion cause any purging?
this is amazing, because my own skincare journey was so similar to dawson’s. i started breaking out in sixth grade and i tried drugstore acne products such as the (in)famous neutrogena cleansers, 10% benzoyl peroxide spot treatments, and the dreaded noxzema cream. nothing was working, so i finally went to a dermatologist. i was prescribed tretinoin and clindamycin creams and put on doxycycline (an antibiotic targeted towards acne bacteria) twice. i was even put on minocycline, which was a stronger antibiotic. the topical treatments never gave considerable results. using the antibiotics definitely cleared up my skin...but only during the time i was using it. once my prescriptions ran out, my skin would “rebound” and my acne would come back. only did i reach my senior year of high school (17 years old) is when my new dermatologist told me to consider accutane. i was desperate, so i did it, even with the side effects. even with the monthly blood tests. even with the surprising dryness that left the corners of my lips, the sides of my eyes, and the inside of my nose so cracked that it would bleed. however, my skin felt IMMUNE during the duration. i stopped getting any breakouts after the third month, not counting the occasional pimple that happened once in a blue moon. now that it’s been 7 months since i’ve been done with the treatment, i can say that my skin didn’t maintain the same super-clear state that it did while on accutane, but it’s improved considerably from pre-treatment. my acne is much more manageable and it feels like i can control my skin again. like dr. desai said, i do use a lot of active ingredients in my skincare routine now to target my hyperpigmentation that has been building for years. if u take anything away from this, i highly recommend people to see their dermatologists. u don’t have to “suffer” alone. there’s always help out there. ❤️
When I took accutane I took hyaluronic acid pills. While my lips still got dry and cracked my skin was not as dry as others I have talked to and I attribute that to the oral intake of hyaluronic acid
Hi Susan, i find this channel very informative and I learned so much from your videos. Thank you. I am now on search for good skincare products for my 12-yr-old daughter as I want her to start a good skincare routine. Recommendations please 😊 ♥️
These are great! I love all the knowledge we get from reliable sources! I've been struggling with some (of what I think is) hormonal acne after stopping BC and I love to know more, also if I may how do you know if the acne is not fungal too? I struggle to understand if I have hacne or fungal or both,
If you’re on Accutane, pleaseeee try The Ordinary’s 100% organic cold pressed rose hip oil !!! It hydrated my skin so well that my face never flaked once! I swear by it (also I found that Aquaphor Lip Therapy didn’t work as well as regular Aquaphor)
My skin got worst when I started on accutane but after a couple weeks it got better. Unfortunately, I couldn’t keep on bc I had a side effect that I didn’t feel but it was affecting a protein called CPK (it was too high and could overwhelm my kidneys). Even though I just went on accutane for 4 months it helped my skin a lot. Now I’m still dealing with acne but all the products that I’m currently using are helping me to calm down my break outs (which gets wort in Brazil’s summer).
He is such a sweetheart! hope your skin will be soon great ♡ i have question: i won (kinda) my battle with acne...BUT before "my days" my skin is freaking out! only on my chin! its horrible ~ many angry red "friends"...i dont take birt control and i dont want... u think i should go to see some hormonal help? really my skin is nice and fine but about 4 days before i start its horrible and my confidence is on level 0 😓
I was on Accutane for 4 years before changing my derm. After changing my derm, I started Accutane again (stopped for 3 months and got bad breakouts) and she referred me to a obgyn to get my hormones checked. Turns out I have a condition that affects my hormones and now I’m on Accutane and birth control to keep my hormones checked and aerius to keep my allergies under control. 🙂🙃 hope to see the end of the tunnel soon cause meds’ sucks. I wanna start on essences and serums and have 20 step skin care routines instead of 3-4 steps of skincare routine! Currently on Cerave cleanser, Fresh Toner, Ceradan Moisturiser/ Fresh Rose Moisturiser, Heliocare Sunscreen, Vaseline or Laneige berry Lip Mask (for lips). Sometimes I feel like I’m not doing enough tho.
The way I am combating dryness while on accutane is washing with First Aide Beauty's anti oxident, sensitive skin safe, face wash. Then I tone with 100 percent distilled rose water and then imediatley use my snail mucous essence. I let the essence settle into my skin then use another essence made with aloe vera and fermented green tea. Afer that gets absorbed I use the cera ve night cream (both day and night because it is extremley hydrating) and it has literally been game changing. Keeps my face from drying up. I then finish it off by applying cera ve daily moisturizing lotion, to seal in the night cream and just add some extra hyaluronic acid.
I completed my round of accutane many many yrs ago. (About 2004-2005) It was the best and worst thing I could have done for myself. I had/have cystic acne on my face back and chest. It worked as noted. However I had a sore in my nose for a good year after treatment. And my skin especially my face is so dry and sensitive ever since. And I still have flare ups they're just not as bad as before and now just more hormonal. I went to see a dermatologist and was told I now have rosaceous acne. And my face is so dry it looks like I have dandruff on my face. The meds the doctor prescribed didn't work. I had to stop wearing makeup because of it. And I now have to go through the pain stalking process of finding a skincare routine that my skin can tolerate. Wish me luck!!
It's cleared my skin, but I'm left with hyperpigmentation and scarring (although I'm 19) and my skin is kinda oily-dehydrated still after a month off :P If I put too little moisturizer, it gets dry, if I put too much, it doesn't soak it in 😹
Eurcerin soothing balm for his lips, but also as a nightime occlusive. its non comedogenic as well and very very safe for sensitive skin. I has like 7 ingredients in it, so very little to react to.

I'm 24 and I recently started accutane. Hoping that it clears my acne
Wasn't it launched/approved in 1982?
@@thesuperflash2181 You know... you're right. It was 1982. I was 26.
Recently, I just started to implement this ( *AcneCureOnline. Com* ). Getting good results so far. I will continue with it, if it seems good further.?
AQUAPHOR IN THE NOSE FOR THE NOSEBLEEDS YALL
I am so happy a fellow accutane patient submitted their routine, I needed this!!!
I do like that you cover someone who was male, teenage, and on medication for acne but I hope you could still have separate ones for just males of different ages. I also do like that the dermatologist really showed the distinction between male and female skincare is not always so different including when using medication.
Could you please do one for tretinoin?
Sarah Anom Girl!! Yes! I’ve been on tret for a month now, and between the tret , glycolic acid, AHA and BHAs plus my vitamin C I need help!! I’ve stopped it all basically and just getting through my tret and I’ll slowly add my vitamin c in the AM eventually but for now everything is too much. In the morning I’m toning , moisturizing and adding sun screen. At night I’m washing, using tret and moisturizing.. that’s all I can tolerate now 😭 using tret 3 times a week
Ana Castrillon yes!! I don't think all at same time is good
I'd love to see that!
YES!
THANK YOU DAWSON , for putting yourself out there for this!!!!!!
Allie Bretz ♥️♥️
I took Accutane in my mid to late 20s and can say without a doubt that it was one of the best medicines I’ve ever taken. I wish more derms would prescribe it more readily. Some are quite hesitant in prescribing this amazing drug - especially to female patients. Happy New Year, all!
did u suffer with hair loss as that is my main concern?and did the dark acne marks fade away with accutane?
The dermatologist reminds me of Sarah Michelle Gellar
Lol yes the brunette version.....I thought it was just me
Yess the perhaps southern European version with the bronzed skin and brown hair
It cleared my acne but not recommended for people suffering from depression
This is good info. Thank you!
Taking it currently and have had my own depression issues! I think it’s a placebo effect if I’m being honest...
@@fletcherxdesign yeah i get your point, especially what damage acne can do to your skin and self esteem, it's on a point that you just want that pain to end whataver you touch a pimple by accident, i feel more confident about myself now!
Anyone gonna talk about how sweet Dawson seems? 😭💕
YES! Most "accutane" skincare routines online are actually post-accutane routines.
The point about waxing is SO important, when I was on Accutane I ripped my skin right off my upper lip by waxing. It hurts a lot, please just don’t wax.
Susan keeps asking the exact questions that pop into my head! Good job!
Awesome advice! I’m 32 and just finished 6 months of Accutane. My skin has never looked better. My only regret is not doing it sooner!
Did u face hair loss?
OMG THE BEST VIDEO EVER! Thanks Dawson for uploading the video and Susan for choosing it! I am currently on Accutane, but in my country we call it different, but it's the same 🤷🏻♀️
Im on the stage where i am super dry, the contour of my eyes are sometimes red and sensitive just like my lips of course. I also recently discover CeraVe for Susan and Hyram youtube channels and im really thankful for it. I and use Aquaphore by Eucerin for the lips and the contour of my eyes at night.
Thanks for everything you guys do for us who are struggling with the same issues, you guys are awsome💓
so happy to come across this video today - I took my first accutane pill today! fingers crossed I get great results like Dawson!
OMG i also just took my first accutane pills yesterday, wishing you the best in this journey!
@@gabrielamagallanes2759 best of luck to you as well! 😊
Did u face hair loss?
I wish they talked more about this! It’s not a perfect solution it’s so toxic.
Dr Nina's hair is so radiant!!!!
Dr. Nina Desai is literally the best ❤️❤️
SUSAAAAN! I’m DYING to see your reaction to Kourtney Kardashian’s skincare
Omg me too
Thanks for sharing, I need to order aquaphor right now, my skin just started to peel but my lips have been peeling long before that
Doctor prescribed me accutane bt I'm bit nervous
Loved this video! Susan please do a video reacting to Summer McKeen’s video titled “I went
To Kendall Jenners dermatologist to save my skin.” She claims that this dermatologist advised her to not use moisturizer or sunscreen while on Accutane!
Courtney Torr I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU BTW YOU HAVE A CUTE NAME HMU 😘 @Courtney torr
@@khayyamwhite9325 that dermatoligist isn't board certified like Dr Desai
khayyam white thanks yours too 😘❤️
Accutane saved my skin I’m on my last month and I’m so happy! The dryness is rough but easier to manage than crazy oily skin
Accutane was life changing for me! I only used Aquaphor, argan oil, and sunscreen the whole time!
Aquaphor team here as well!
Aquaphor is life
Their hair looks soo good 🙈 couldn’t stop looking at it so glowy ❤️
I LOVE Accutane it saved my skin and it's cleared up all the scarring I had. Will always recommend it. I didn't have any major side effects besides the SEVERE dry skin and sore joints and muscles and then afterward my hair fell out but only for about a month
You should do a video on bacne!
I was so happy to see this in my subscription box!!!! Recently started Accutane so I know this will be so helpful for me
Am I the only one who is in love with Susan's earrings 😍
Where can I buy them??
I really like Vanicream too. It’s so soothing and it has no fragrance or masking fragrance in it. :)
Did u face hair loss?
I took Accutane in 1995/1996. It took two courses and it was brutal. Lips practically fell off, massive joint pain, constant blood work was necessary. The corners of my mouth scabbed. It was absolute brutal.
Can you please do a video on fungal acne skincare routine? Thanks!!!
I was on minocycline and it gave me intracranial hypertension. I almost went blind.. please be careful with tetracyclines.
TheDannconn true and eye dryness hence itching eyes
It literally gave me hives
Went on accutane and as soon as I stopped, my acne came back :( adult acne sucks!
Could you be having hormonal breakouts? When I started my accutane regimen many many yrs ago. My doctor told me that I would still have breakouts hear and there.
Yup mine came back too and I did several rounds! Try the dmk line.
jodi wahoski no just full on acne. I want to try spironolactone but my derm doesn’t like prescribing that
Totally agree, im on it and the accutabe saved me but also checking my hormone levels 😘
I took my last accutane pill yesterday , hooray ! , it was a 7 month journey full of emotions and dryness , but I must say I absolutely love the results , never looked better , I would absolutely recommend it to everybody with cystic acne. It’s a life changer
Bhai apka insta id do na
Kuch puchna hai
She mentioned Neutrogena hydro boost which I use & LOVVE! But make sure to get the “extra dry” one!!!!! It is fragrance free!!
Dr. Dans chapstick is amazing for accutane patients!! i still use it!
Missing the segment where afterwards you would tailor a skin care regimen with products you would reccomend
THANKS for sharing Dawson! Very helpful video...
Bene Stenson ♥️♥️
We love Dr Desai ❤️
Did u face hair loss?
Did you experience any relapse? , plus whats your skin care after accutane.
And i wanted to know, if i can use Tretinoin cream, after my accutane treatment is completed, will the Tretinion cause any purging?
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr. Desai so much 💖
Can we see Dr. Desai’s makeup routine please pretty please?
3 weeks into my Accutane treatment, so glad this video happened to be uploaded!
Keep it up love the videos so much
Can you please do one for eczema?
I am currently on Acnetrex. Thank you for sharing these tips. ♥️🙏
thank you so much for this vid i actually went to my dermatologist yesterday and I'm considering Accutane
this is amazing, because my own skincare journey was so similar to dawson’s.
i started breaking out in sixth grade and i tried drugstore acne products such as the (in)famous neutrogena cleansers, 10% benzoyl peroxide spot treatments, and the dreaded noxzema cream.
nothing was working, so i finally went to a dermatologist. i was prescribed tretinoin and clindamycin creams and put on doxycycline (an antibiotic targeted towards acne bacteria) twice. i was even put on minocycline, which was a stronger antibiotic. the topical treatments never gave considerable results. using the antibiotics definitely cleared up my skin...but only during the time i was using it. once my prescriptions ran out, my skin would “rebound” and my acne would come back.
only did i reach my senior year of high school (17 years old) is when my new dermatologist told me to consider accutane. i was desperate, so i did it, even with the side effects. even with the monthly blood tests. even with the surprising dryness that left the corners of my lips, the sides of my eyes, and the inside of my nose so cracked that it would bleed. however, my skin felt IMMUNE during the duration. i stopped getting any breakouts after the third month, not counting the occasional pimple that happened once in a blue moon.
now that it’s been 7 months since i’ve been done with the treatment, i can say that my skin didn’t maintain the same super-clear state that it did while on accutane, but it’s improved considerably from pre-treatment. my acne is much more manageable and it feels like i can control my skin again. like dr. desai said, i do use a lot of active ingredients in my skincare routine now to target my hyperpigmentation that has been building for years. if u take anything away from this, i highly recommend people to see their dermatologists. u don’t have to “suffer” alone. there’s always help out there. ❤️
When I took accutane I took hyaluronic acid pills. While my lips still got dry and cracked my skin was not as dry as others I have talked to and I attribute that to the oral intake of hyaluronic acid
I never had any side effect while on accutane.. only little dryness.. thts it.. its clear my acne and gave me back my self confidence
Wish i was on Accutane earlier in my teens. I ended up having deep acne and ice pickers scars. Hopeing Susan has a video for acne scars skin care .
Hi Susan, i find this channel very informative and I learned so much from your videos. Thank you. I am now on search for good skincare products for my 12-yr-old daughter as I want her to start a good skincare routine. Recommendations please 😊 ♥️
this came just in time!!!! needed this!!
These are great! I love all the knowledge we get from reliable sources! I've been struggling with some (of what I think is) hormonal acne after stopping BC and I love to know more, also if I may how do you know if the acne is not fungal too? I struggle to understand if I have hacne or fungal or both,
Been really curious about acutane, really interesting to watch!
What should a teenager use for dark spots and pigmentations please help me out i have really bad acne spots on my face I’m sixteen
Skin pin facials.
Rachana Thapa vitamin c serum and topical retinol but should be gentle
You can also use hydroquinone 2%-5%. Always use SPF 30 or higher.
try niacinamide it works like magic
@@nayomidesta9913 from The Ordinary?
If you’re on Accutane, pleaseeee try The Ordinary’s 100% organic cold pressed rose hip oil !!! It hydrated my skin so well that my face never flaked once! I swear by it (also I found that Aquaphor Lip Therapy didn’t work as well as regular Aquaphor)
Another person called it the holy grail, I think I need to try it!
Can you explain what skin inflammation is? I would like to understand how niacinamide reduces skin inflammation.
I couldn’t do it I stopped after two months!!! In my head I was hearing things it was horrible lol
He is such a sweetheart! hope your skin will be soon great ♡
i have question: i won (kinda) my battle with acne...BUT before "my days" my skin is freaking out! only on my chin! its horrible ~ many angry red "friends"...i dont take birt control and i dont want... u think i should go to see some hormonal help? really my skin is nice and fine but about 4 days before i start its horrible and my confidence is on level 0 😓
I start accutane in a month, I’m so excited!!!!
I'am on accutane right now.
What about fungal acne ? How to get rid of the small bumps ?
Please review the my perfect skincare / my perfect eye. It’s so intriguing!
Cool showers :((((((
And you guys have taught me so much ! Thank you
The way I am combating dryness while on accutane is washing with First Aide Beauty's anti oxident, sensitive skin safe, face wash.
What was your dosage
Can you do a video on Sukin Skintreats? The ingredients seem really good but not sure about the prices and how the ingredients seem
It's cleared my skin, but I'm left with hyperpigmentation and scarring (although I'm 19) and my skin is kinda oily-dehydrated still after a month off :P
If I put too little moisturizer, it gets dry, if I put too much, it doesn't soak it in 😹
Eurcerin soothing balm for his lips, but also as a nightime occlusive. its non comedogenic as well and very very safe for sensitive skin. I has like 7 ingredients in it, so very little to react to.
