Venus as a boyを特徴づけるあのループが、宮田さんの曲からのサンプリングだったとは知らんかった…😳
笙に続くカリンバのようなpluck系の音色は、時代的にDX7かな？ と思ったら、タイトルからするとこれ、ハープの生音みたいですね… すごい。もしかしたらハープのスタッカートに何か重ねますかね？🤔 Bjorkが90年代に鳴らした時はもちろん、現代でさえ響きが古びてないですね。
笙のアナログシンセ的な歪みと、FMシンセ風のアタックの速い音色のコントラストが、今なお新鮮です。
Venus as a boyは、音源では宮田さんの笙がサンプルされ、ライブではcobaさんがアコーディオンの神がかった演奏を見せているので、日本の音楽家との結びつきの強い曲だったんですね。Talvin Singhによるタブラと、ボリウッドの弦のサンプルに注目が行ってましたが、むしろ汎アジア的？
宮田さんとはのちの『拘束のドローイング』でも共演しているそうですが、こういったところにBjorkのmusicologist的な側面を感じます。本人も「自分は音楽オタクだ」と言っていた気がしますが笑
