Just a video giving my thoughts on the expansion to The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. Take this video as me sharing my opinions of the game, and not me telling you how to think.
To everyone coming to rewatch this video, there will be a Repentance video out within the next month or so. Am in the early process of taking notes and scriptwriting. If you are interested stick around and sub for it.
I know nothing about Isaac, but i'd like to point out that i thought Isaac was a super easy game because i was playing it on a full potato and everything was literally slowed down to 0.75x the normal speed of the game and it made it not only easier to dodge but also shoot, which made the game boring to me, then i watched an actual play through and was like " that's weird, i didn't remember that boss to be hard " and then played it again on a new computer to realise i was actually absolutely terrible at the game and the lag carried me 200%. I don't know if it's fixed but it was quite unfortunate.
Fun fact: During the development of TBOI Afterbirth+, Edmund McMillien wasn't around for most of the development due to personal life and other projects, meaning Nicalis had to develop it in house. Yeah that was pretty obvious
Afterbirth+ at launch was kinda shitty but after the booster packs and mods not disabling progress anymore, made it awesome. Greedier mode is still shit though.
I found out repetence disables mods on a regular save file so say if i wanted mods on a regular save file i have to have it only for mods and i wont be able to unlock anything
@@deryberrytwo7219 I know this is five months ago, but mods only disable achievements till you defeat Mom, and if that doesn't work for some reason, till you defeat Mom's Heart.
The Binding of Isaac: Repentance DLC is coming this year and it's putting in the game content from Antibirth, fixing some issues, rebalancing Greedier mode, expanding the lore, and much, much more.
I'm starting to get back into this game, and damn I just want Repentance for the balancing. Afterbirth+ stuff is killing me after having played with only Afterbirth for the longest time.

New Moisturizer It's funny because like I said in the video, I actually think Delirium is a fun fight. My issues stem from how uninteresting and tedious the void is.
This video really resonates with me, I've been working on a large mod with a team for MONTHS-- since Afterbirth+ came out. The modding tools leave so much to be desired, the API is not good. Our mod's been in development hell due to this and other factors, and it's a shame because what we should have been able to complete months ago has taken ages, and on top of all of that, a lot of what we want to do isn't even possible.
majofps A lot of people have been commenting on this video "But it doesn't matter cause we still got a lot of good mods." The point of what I said is that we could have SO MUCH MORE if the tools actually fucking worked. It's a shame to hear about your mod, and if Nicalis got their heads out of their asses you coulda gotten it to work.
Yeah, it really is too bad. In the past month or so we just resumed work on it, so that's good. Our previews to the mod gained a lot of traction nearly a year ago and we have a big Discord (so there is still interest), but we will be releasing the mod in a time where it seems Isaac modding is seemingly very slowed down. Great video btw, looking forward to seeing more content from you in the future.
majofps As long as a playable Guppy mod exists (in which it does), I think the mod tools are 11/10. My standards are very low when there's an adorable character involved.
FINALLY SOMEONE AGREES THAT DELERIUM IS A GOOD BOSS Also the dark room allows you to do a re run Edit: this was 2 years ago I don’t really agree with delirium being really good. ngl the difficulty has very little to with skill and instead with being able to stop moving clockwise and instead moving counterclockwise. If mega satan had more health and boss armor then they would definitely be a better boss than deli And you can do a rerun as long as you get a win
@@TheRealBatabii 1. delirium crumbles the unlock post it note and unlocks items depending on which character you do it with 2. once you finish 4 victory laps, you'll unlock the option to do it in front of the continue button without the dark room
When you click on the game in your library you should be able to see an area titled dlc on the right side of the screen that lets you activate or deactivate any dlc that you own.
Your save with each DLC is also stored seperately. So you'll go back to whatever progress you'd made when you were playing on regular Afterbirth (or rebirth if you didn't have either DLC). That's either a good thing or bad thing for you.
Dogman_35 You do know that there were mods before AB+ right? and massive ones at that, like godmode and the binding of Pokemon and such, massive overhauls and such, check out ThemoddingofIsaac site and you'll see some of the massive ones that were around for Afterbirth alone
+Katsui Shima "Massive." They were huge for what was possible, but mods couldn't even do basic shit like adding new items without being insanely buggy. It's not comparable to _official support and tools_ for modding.
At some point I do wanna do a video on Antibirth, but I'm gonna wait a little. I have so many ideas for videos, and Antibirth is closer to the bottom of the list. Like I said tho, It probably will happen at some point.
I gotta say, it is really motivating to see all these people appreciate these videos. I do put a lot of time in them, and its just amazing seeing it pay off with all this support. I may not be a "big channel" or anything, but you gotta start somewhere. And all these complements and shit is really flattering.
Although I thoroughly enjoyed every expansion including Afterbirth Plus, you made some interesting points which caught my attention and allowed me to see it from your point of view. I may disagree with your stance, but I understand why you hold it and I wish you the best of luck on your channel as a whole.
Same! although Ill have to agree with him on certain changes being made. Nerfing the hourglass and making greedier mode more of a "in the point of view of bum" than a "SOOOO MANY COINS" was stupid. plenty of other changes could've been made. like taking away restock or adding in items like piggybank or even fucking both. Love afterbirth+ overall and think that the void character is very fun and I love how he unlocks the trinket smelter for you!
Originally promissed to release those once per month, yeah. Hell, I remember hearing that we were supposed to get another booster pack before the end of 2017, but nope.
It went to "monthly" to "bi-monthly-ish" to "only 5 are coming in total and it's taken them over a year." Apparently there's only 1 guy working on them, so I guess we should cut him some slack.
It actually did, but it's the most mind blowingly stupid thing to find and download. It was placed under "Extras" in the store. A tab that doesn't actually exist on the PS4 store, so you have to go to the PC version of the Playstation Store, login and buy it on there, then click a button that tells your PS4 to download it.
I was disappointed. Remember he did say he would release content every month for a year. Then it was a 3 monthly thing and now I don't think he has anything at all to do with BOI.
Actually, the void is supposed to resemble hallucinations and the challenge is killing every single boss on the floor so you can defeat delirium more easily. There's actually a way of finding out if delirium is the boss of the room or not
You said it, there is a lot of lost potential in this dlc. The best thing that's gonna come out of ab+ are the mods, even if the tools make it extremely hard on Devs.
When I played Afterbirth+, I challenged myself to listen to Ocean Man by Ween until I got 1000000%. Most of the time was spent running Lost up to Delirium, and hoping that he didn't teleport on my face twice. Like, DOZENS of hours of Ocean Man and Delirium teleporting on me and killing me. Greedier Mode sucks. Delirium is my least favourite boss in the game. I beat Ultra Hard on my... 3rd try? I think. I just got Brimstone and won. Everything else was boring, and I don't play Isaac anymore because the game doesn't entertain me anymore.

I've probably watched this video like 20 times but it just keeps popping up in my recommendations. Good timing too, was just talking with a friend and he asked if he should buy Afterbirth plus and I showed him this. I personally like it because I think the Void is fucking cool but I can definitely understand the gripes of the fans about this expansion. Great video
The main confounding thing about Afterbith is that the new additions feel specifically like the creator itself is telling the fans that they’re not having fun correctly. Unnecessary and unfun items being the main thing.
I'm with you on all this Vinny, but Delirium is awful. Yes, the concept itself is fitting for a finale, but gameplay wise it's just random unpredictable chaos, made up of all the other bosses of the game. I find Delirium to be the worst of random often unfair attack patterns, like Mama Gurdy, any boss that uses those random light beams, Daddy Long Lengs and the like. Otherwise, great video. By the way, happy new year!
Couldn’t agree any more. I understand he concept of delirium. Isaac is confused and seeing all different kinds of bosses at once. But I can’t think of a way to improve on this boss battle. It feels unnecessary and I wished we good a completely different floor along with different bosses
the two reasons i enjoy AB+ are easily downloaded mods (not making, but downloading and removing them is incredibly easy) and the delirium boss fight (not the floor, only the fight) and I feel I have enough hours to give a decent opinion (1400+)

I think that the void as collection of all other floors is actually a cool idea and not lazy. This has a deeper meaning probably. How would you design a floor that is called the void? Black?
I gave been trying to get all the Greedier stamps and I have to break the game or get a consistant flow of good items (plus bomb immunity) to actually win. Also, getting Holy Mantle on the Lost is a bitch (870 coins in the Greedier machine, I'm at 860)
It's always good to see someone putting hundreds of hours into The Binding of Isaac. It reminds me that I'm not alone. Honestly, Afterbirth+ is even worse than the Eternal Mode update for Isaac Classic. They were both impossible and badly designed, but at least Eternal Mode was free.
Thanks for explaining all the problems in this, I feel like Isaac has had a consistent problem with always giving more risk and less reward, and less creative new things of course, which so many other mods do so much better. i hope isaac gets better soon what with that new new (final but probably not) update which implies edmund sees mods that're ruling over his official updates oh yeah and could u tell me what tracks you used in the video
Just wondering, does Afterbirth+ have all the same things as Afterbirth? I noticed that on the Switch you can only buy Afterbirth+ so I was wondering if it still has everything Afterbirth does or if I should just skip it.
I probably should’ve said this sooner but you really can’t compare Afterbirth + to Antibirth. One was in development for years and the other was rushed in a few months.
I'm surprised you never mentioned The Marathon. Fuck The Marathon. It's not even hard but the fact that you can only attempt once per day and it takes at least 5 days just means it's a waiting game. Waiting for the next run and a good one. Not to mention it was broken at launch due to achivements being turned off in dailies.
TempestTemple i got the daily achivements as soon as i could. Started the day it wad launched and got it like i was supposed to nothing was broken on my end
The Mary Jane Alien The month of daily runs one worked from launch, did you get the perfect 5 day streak as soon as the game came out? There was a glitch were winning the run wouldn't add to the counter because it was accidentally turned off. It was fixed relatively soon.
Freshly Memed I can't really argue with that. Sometimes when I quit to the main menu, everything locks as if it was a fresh save, and then the game crashes a few moments later. Thankfully it's never actually done anything to my save, Though it can make trying to reset a bad run a pain in the ass

I thought it was because antibirth came out 3 weeks before and that mod could’ve been it’s own game. While we paid for 10 new enemies, a couple of new pills, a boss floor that was just refused floors from before AND a boss that was excessively glitchy when it first came out and re skins of other bosses,...antibirth had the Witness. I still like afterbirth+ but it should’ve been 3$ to 5$ for how much content we got
Well when they say items they are counting trinkets too which I know you can't see on the stats screen. I don't know if counting the number of trinkets in addition to the number of items would bring the total up to 120 but it would certainly make the number higher.
Ok I know it’s your opinion but can I just say this Afterbirth+ is an expansion pack that adds on to Rebirth unless we’re talking about the Switch anyways it just adds more mechanics to the original game that Edmund thought it needed I respect your opinion entirely but since I’m still a scrub at the game I’m just enjoying it at my own pace. And I was playing Afterbirth And your right it is VERY VERY Recommendable
I think that the void could be upgraded with details like: - Make all the enemies a reskin to match the delirium theme and make them super fast and with extra health - Make the effect of the remote control everytime you enter a room (or maybe a new room to not abuse of that) - Add a filter to the level, maybe the filter of the easter egg that makes you see the game like an old tv - Make the textures glitchy, the void is about Isaac's last minutes of life, asphyxiating on his chest, so it would be so cool to see everything messed up, and ACTUALLY thas the reason why every room is a different floor layer, but they decided to make that effect the worst and cheapest way. - Every boss on the floor gets replaced with his respective delirium contrapart, also every boss gets extra life, and go on a irregular patern (moving really fast and then slowing down, or teleporting, i dont know), just to make them at least a bit different, its so retarded that you enter a boss room with a pin and it just gets destroyed at 1 second. - Messing with the musice, sometimes it gets slower, sometimes faster, or even the whole music dissapears to leave into static noise, or just emptyness, with some hard breaths that you barely can hear. And the most important - Making the exit appear at the end of every run and not before (except after you defeat delirium), so you can go everytime, why this would be an improvement? because the void should be a hard level, a level that you could only go if you are strong enough (or have advanced experience with the game), making the void a real challenge, so now it has a purpose to go on it, not just for completing the game. it would be an extra challenge for the hardcore players.
Actually, how do daily challenges work? Are they uploaded by random players who and an interesting run? Do they have a theme or kinda intended way to go through them sometimes? What is the whole thing about?
Hello! I saw this video and seeing how I like Afterbirht+, let's have a debate We start from Part 1: Greedier mode. OK, so it's supposed to be a hard mode for Greed Mode, it's supposed to be difficult. Phase 2 was added so it can be more of a challenge, but the one thing I do agree with you on here is that yes, you have to rely on luck through most of it.
You are so right about other roguelites. For me, it’s because each of them are so different that I end up getting attached to how one plays and then dismissing the rest
I agree that the modding tool is buggy but I disagree with the rest especially the ultra hard challenge. Because if you're really a striving player you'll spend hours maybe days completing that excruciating shit and after winning, the satisfaction is 👌. And besides that's not even the hardest achievement I know, there's an achievement in Max Payne where you have to finish the entire game without taking a single damage. (Top That!)
Binding of Isaac Rebirth is truly amazing. I mean, you make one of the best games of all time. Then you make one of the most enjoyed dlcs of all time. And then make single handedly one of the worst dlcs purchasable to date. You gotta admire Edmund for that. Also, when the fuck is the next booster pack coming?
Pick up the original Afterbirth 100%. Thats totally worth it. From there, decide if you even want more Isaac. Remember, I'm just one guy with an opinion, and plenty of other people here have voiced their love of the game. But if it came down to me, I'd say buy Afterbirth and dont even bother with Afterbirth +

Afterbirth+ was supposed to come out on ps4 last year on march 4th

It actually did, but it's the most mind blowingly stupid thing to find and download. It was placed under "Extras" in the store. A tab that doesn't actually exist on the PS4 store, so you have to go to the PC version of the Playstation Store, login and buy it on there, then click a button that tells your PS4 to download it.

Actually, the void is supposed to resemble hallucinations and the challenge is killing every single boss on the floor so you can defeat delirium more easily. There's actually a way of finding out if delirium is the boss of the room or not

I expected monthly content update, like booster packs and Greed Daily. But the Devs fucking lied.
When I played Afterbirth+, I challenged myself to listen to Ocean Man by Ween until I got 1000000%. Most of the time was spent running Lost up to Delirium, and hoping that he didn't teleport on my face twice. Like, DOZENS of hours of Ocean Man and Delirium teleporting on me and killing me.
Greedier Mode sucks.
Delirium is my least favourite boss in the game.
I beat Ultra Hard on my... 3rd try? I think. I just got Brimstone and won.
Everything else was boring, and I don't play Isaac anymore because the game doesn't entertain me anymore.

I've probably watched this video like 20 times but it just keeps popping up in my recommendations. Good timing too, was just talking with a friend and he asked if he should buy Afterbirth plus and I showed him this. I personally like it because I think the Void is fucking cool but I can definitely understand the gripes of the fans about this expansion. Great video
The main confounding thing about Afterbith is that the new additions feel specifically like the creator itself is telling the fans that they’re not having fun correctly. Unnecessary and unfun items being the main thing.
Delirium is just the peak of lazy design. I’m glad to hear they’re finally fixing this godawful boss in the new dlc.

I'm with you on all this Vinny, but Delirium is awful. Yes, the concept itself is fitting for a finale, but gameplay wise it's just random unpredictable chaos, made up of all the other bosses of the game. I find Delirium to be the worst of random often unfair attack patterns, like Mama Gurdy, any boss that uses those random light beams, Daddy Long Lengs and the like. Otherwise, great video. By the way, happy new year!
I think I'm just kinda a softie for any boss that does something unique. Like look at OG Ultra Greed, I love him because of how he is so unique.

honestly Delirium and a few other endgame bosses are designed to be unpredictable to fit the player's amount of power at that late stage in the game

Couldn’t agree any more. I understand he concept of delirium. Isaac is confused and seeing all different kinds of bosses at once. But I can’t think of a way to improve on this boss battle. It feels unnecessary and I wished we good a completely different floor along with different bosses
the two reasons i enjoy AB+ are easily downloaded mods (not making, but downloading and removing them is incredibly easy) and the delirium boss fight (not the floor, only the fight) and I feel I have enough hours to give a decent opinion (1400+)

I think that the void as collection of all other floors is actually a cool idea and not lazy. This has a deeper meaning probably. How would you design a floor that is called the void? Black?
That transition talking about the lost and the keeper in the ultra hard challenge where the audio overlapped seemed L A Z Y.
I gave been trying to get all the Greedier stamps and I have to break the game or get a consistant flow of good items (plus bomb immunity) to actually win. Also, getting Holy Mantle on the Lost is a bitch (870 coins in the Greedier machine, I'm at 860)

Honestly, Afterbirth+ is even worse than the Eternal Mode update for Isaac Classic. They were both impossible and badly designed, but at least Eternal Mode was free.

I probably should’ve said this sooner but you really can’t compare Afterbirth + to Antibirth. One was in development for years and the other was rushed in a few months.

I'm surprised you never mentioned The Marathon. Fuck The Marathon. It's not even hard but the fact that you can only attempt once per day and it takes at least 5 days just means it's a waiting game. Waiting for the next run and a good one. Not to mention it was broken at launch due to achivements being turned off in dailies.
TempestTemple i got the daily achivements as soon as i could. Started the day it wad launched and got it like i was supposed to nothing was broken on my end
The Mary Jane Alien The month of daily runs one worked from launch, did you get the perfect 5 day streak as soon as the game came out? There was a glitch were winning the run wouldn't add to the counter because it was accidentally turned off. It was fixed relatively soon.

I thought it was because antibirth came out 3 weeks before and that mod could’ve been it’s own game. While we paid for 10 new enemies, a couple of new pills, a boss floor that was just refused floors from before AND a boss that was excessively glitchy when it first came out and re skins of other bosses,...antibirth had the Witness. I still like afterbirth+ but it should’ve been 3$ to 5$ for how much content we got

Well when they say items they are counting trinkets too which I know you can't see on the stats screen. I don't know if counting the number of trinkets in addition to the number of items would bring the total up to 120 but it would certainly make the number higher.

Afterbirth+ is an expansion pack that adds on to Rebirth unless we’re talking about the Switch anyways it just adds more mechanics to the original game that Edmund thought it needed I respect your opinion entirely but since I’m still a scrub at the game I’m just enjoying it at my own pace.
And I was playing Afterbirth And your right it is VERY VERY Recommendable

I think that the void could be upgraded with details like:
- Make all the enemies a reskin to match the delirium theme and make them super fast and with extra health
- Make the effect of the remote control everytime you enter a room (or maybe a new room to not abuse of that)
- Add a filter to the level, maybe the filter of the easter egg that makes you see the game like an old tv
- Make the textures glitchy, the void is about Isaac's last minutes of life, asphyxiating on his chest, so it would be so cool to see everything messed up, and ACTUALLY thas the reason why every room is a different floor layer, but they decided to make that effect the worst and cheapest way.
- Every boss on the floor gets replaced with his respective delirium contrapart, also every boss gets extra life, and go on a irregular patern (moving really fast and then slowing down, or teleporting, i dont know), just to make them at least a bit different, its so retarded that you enter a boss room with a pin and it just gets destroyed at 1 second.
- Messing with the musice, sometimes it gets slower, sometimes faster, or even the whole music dissapears to leave into static noise, or just emptyness, with some hard breaths that you barely can hear.
And the most important
- Making the exit appear at the end of every run and not before (except after you defeat delirium), so you can go everytime, why this would be an improvement? because the void should be a hard level, a level that you could only go if you are strong enough (or have advanced experience with the game), making the void a real challenge, so now it has a purpose to go on it, not just for completing the game. it would be an extra challenge for the hardcore players.

Hello! I saw this video and seeing how I like Afterbirht+, let's have a debate
We start from Part 1: Greedier mode.
OK, so it's supposed to be a hard mode for Greed Mode, it's supposed to be difficult. Phase 2 was added so it can be more of a challenge, but the one thing I do agree with you on here is that yes, you have to rely on luck through most of it.
You are so right about other roguelites. For me, it’s because each of them are so different that I end up getting attached to how one plays and then dismissing the rest
I agree that the modding tool is buggy but I disagree with the rest especially the ultra hard challenge. Because if you're really a striving player you'll spend hours maybe days completing that excruciating shit and after winning, the satisfaction is 👌. And besides that's not even the hardest achievement I know, there's an achievement in Max Payne where you have to finish the entire game without taking a single damage. (Top That!)

Pick up the original Afterbirth 100%. Thats totally worth it. From there, decide if you even want more Isaac. Remember, I'm just one guy with an opinion, and plenty of other people here have voiced their love of the game. But if it came down to me, I'd say buy Afterbirth and dont even bother with Afterbirth +
