The Land Rover was certainly one of the most famous symbols of "Made in England" automobile production and is a real milestone in the history of off-road vehicles. It was born immediately after the war, with the first prototypes realized on 1947. It has been characterized by the 4x4 traction system and by a robust and reliable design able to tackle the most difficult and challenging trails. The aluminium body provide lightness but, at the same time, more resistance against corrosions and more durable in time. In 1971, when the III Series was introduced, more than 1,000,000 of Land Rovers has been produced. Available in two versions: the "standard " one and the "long wheel base". Thanks to its extraordinary versatility was used in both military and civilian duties. Interesting the versions realized for the Fire Departments and made with the firefighting equipment.
Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service operates 31 fire stations, which are organised into three service delivery areas: Mid, East and West.[5]
The fire stations are manned by three different systems:[6]
Wholetime - stations manned by four watches of wholetime fire fighters from 07:00 to 19:00, and 19:00 to 07:00. These stations are supported by retained firefighters.
Wholetime day - stations manned by two watches of wholetime firefighters from 07:00 to 19:00, and by retained firefighters at other times.
On-call - stations manned by retained firefighters.
Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service works in partnership with South Western Ambulance Service to provide emergency medical cover to area of Cornwall. These are areas that have been identified as having a greater need for ambulance cover. The aim of a co-responder team is to preserve life until the arrival of either a rapid response vehicle (RRV) or an ambulance.[7] Co-responder vehicles are equipped with oxygen and automated external defibrillator (AED) equipment, as is every one of the service's fire stations.[8]
The service arranges its fire stations into three geographic areas:[5][8] East, Mid, and West.
The Land Rover series I, II, and III , or simply the Land-Rover (commonly referred to as series Land Rovers, to distinguish them from later models) are compact British off-road vehicles, produced by the Rover Company since 1948, and later by British Leyland. Though inspired by the World War II jeep, the Land Rover immediately distinguished itself from all other cars. From launch, it was the first mass-produced civilian four-wheel drive car with doors on it, and an available hard roof. Contrary to conventional car and truck chassis, it used a sturdier fully box-welded frame. Furthermore, due to post-war steel shortage, and aluminium surplus, Land Rovers received non-rusting aluminium alloy bodies, favouring their longevity. In 1992, Land Rover claimed that 70% of all the vehicles they had built were still in use.
The 1 Ton 109 inch was produced from late 1968 to 1977, covering late IIA and series III Models. It was basically a series-IIB forward control built with a standard 109 in body, featuring 2.6-litre petrol engine, lower ratio transfer gearbox, ENV front and rear axles, (Salisbury front and rear on later series IIIs) though some late IIAs were fitted with ENV axles in front and Salisbury on the rear. Later series IIIs had a Rover type front axle with a supposedly strengthened differential. The chassis frame was unique to the model and featured drop-shackle suspension similar to the military series Land Rovers. 900x16 tyres on deep dish steel wheelrims were a standard feature and these machines were commonly used by utility companies and breakdown/recovery firms. Only 170 IIA and 238 series IIIs (1 Ton) were built for the home market. Export markets had even fewer examples, making this one of the rarest types of Land-Rover ever built. 22 IIA 1-tons were built with 2.25 litre petrol engine for the ministry of defence as fire tenders, known as the TACR1. I watched Mutual Of Omahas Wild Kingdom and Darktari growing up because I loved those Land Rovers. You could buy 2 kits and use all of those extras on other models. I use to love doing models and putting my extra touches on them. With that music I almost was thinking about fixing a drink . LOL 😂

The details are what makes a build or ruins it. I've watched you make a Dime Store 5 piece kit look like a million bucks when finished. This was a FINE example of how a complex kit - fiddley parts galore - can be made with little hassle when patience is generously applied. Caution can overcome a talent deficit when building a model. Thank you soooo much for sharing.

Odd to see that kind of truck as a firefighter worktruck. Not just as the chief's car, but as a worktruck. Really nice.
We had a lot of them here in Cornwall once,they replaced the Austin gypsy,now we have Toyota 4x4 and a couple unimog 4x4.
I grew up seeing them in Hampshire. It's good to see the model has decals for Hampshire/Petersfield as I grew up very close. Now I live on the Devon/Cornwall border (Devon side) so I'll leave the Cornish decals alone 👍😁
Italeri has really done a good job preserving these old Esci kits, and while it's simpler than the new Revell kits, it's got more variants which is a good selling point.

Chris ville de Limbourg is a Belgian city, they do speak French there, so you got that right ;) Cheers from Belgium the Dutch-speaking part that is.
This can also be built as a British Army hardtop. Using radio parts from the "Paratrooper" version, it can be made into a FFR vehicle.
Built the original Esci version from the 70s a long time ago. Same except it was a canvas top.

Great job as always Chris. BTW I've used your technique of flat black primer then sprayed with semi-gloss clear. Not really happy with how the finish looks on the parts. Maybe I'm not getting enough clear on the parts. Keep them coming cowboy.

The Revell kit is all new, a very recent tooling.
This kit is much much older, and gets reissued from time to time.
I still weather models, but none have inspired me to do much of that lately. It's getting kind of overdone by so many people. I'm sure I'll get one done again.
I feel your pain, I have a different kit of theirs molded in beautiful blue, as in I think I would like to clear coat, then I notice a part that should be blue is black plastic 😮

They came with both 4 and 6 cylinder engines. The 4 cylinder was more popular in the UK.

I really dislike model parts molded in black plastic. It makes a mess and its clouding the plastic cement.
You’re going to paint the parts anyway, correct?
@@reddsshaker3477 Yes, but have you ever tried to work with Tamiya Thin Cement and black styrene plastic? It turns the cement in the bottle to a grayish cloudy mess. At least this is what I experienced in the past.
