    ok question? do I need weights to use if i'm using a snowblower? My tractor is a lawn tractor not a garden tractor.
    I understand the difference. I know the hydro stat transmission is not designed to do garden type work, but the snow blower goes on the frt.

    • @Isavetractors
      @Isavetractors  4 роки тому

      Yes you will see a big difference. Use wheel weights at the very least

    Just curious. Can the axle stub shafts hold up to that weight over time ?

    • @gardentractors1751
      @gardentractors1751 6 років тому +1

      Yes easily. I'd be more worried about the tie rod ends than the spindles

    • @Isavetractors
      @Isavetractors  6 років тому +2

      Yes the spindles are 1" and the tie rod ends are much larger than other garden tractors. I would say probably 3/4" rather than 5/8" like most.

    on your band saw Lay the 5" bar on the large flat surface then you won't have to flip it over to cut other side unless it was too wide that direction also. I'm watching this to get Ideas how to go about making one for my Cub seems the factory made one's are stamped steel that isn't more then 1/4" thick by the looks of it. I should be about to do this with a steel bar I have that is 6' long 3" wide and 3/16 thick, only I think I'll bend the stock and add some angle iron to reinforce it. or use that for a bottom tray and 2 bands to hold the weight's in place with dividers to distribute the weight to each back wheel with room to add more.
    I need the extra traction year round.

    How's it steer with all that weight? Do those Deeres have the Ross steering box or something else? I know the older ones do, but I haven't worked on that series.

    • @Isavetractors
      @Isavetractors  6 років тому +1

      This one has power hydraulic assist steering so it steers fine regardless of the weight.

    Can you do a video showing the pallet forks you are using?

    • @crpth1

      Chuck Fowler - +1, I was going to write precisely that. I stopped the video a few times to try and check those pallet forks, but its lacking detail. ;-)

    I’d like to get a bracket for the front of my 214, are there any decent aftermarket or OEM options out there or am I stuck making one?

    • @Isavetractors
      @Isavetractors  6 років тому +1

      There may be some people making and selling them on eBay for your 214. I'm not sure though. I'm not a John Deere fanboy so I am not 100% up on what's available. Despite the awesomeness of the 400 they are not very popular so I had to make my own.

    • @stuffyoucando2

      isavetractors I’m surprised there wasn’t something available for the 400, either way great job!

    If you take video requests I'd love to see a video about the specs to look for in a garden tractor that would make it a good base for a loader backhoe project. Also, if you could include your top 5 or 10 garden tractor model picks you would use if you were going to do another loader/backhoe project. I want to do a loader backhoe project and I'm just interested in your input from the perspective of someone who's done it.

    • @Isavetractors
      @Isavetractors  6 років тому

      You got it. Great request. I will add that to my list of videos. I can do this one sooner because it lines up with several videos I'm currently working on. Thanks for your comment!

      Look at the model type and code numbers and if you can’t hold a flashlight next to it and then you can see it or look up your engine

    Do you sell any of the tractors that you restore?

    • @Isavetractors
      @Isavetractors  6 років тому +1

      Sometimes. Most of the time we keep them for working our farm property but eventually we will have too many (one can argue we already have too many!)

    • @lyianx
      @lyianx 6 років тому

      haha.. in that case, can you recommend a good site that sells them (kinda like Autotrader for tractors?)
      I'd love to find a Ford LGT-18H for sentimental reasons, but this JD400 looks pretty nice too (even tho im not a huge fan of JD)

  • @bobbg9041

    Look great but with Flux core you need to clean off the last bead every time even flux core deposits crap that will case a poor weld its a good practice. But I'm not a welder as dbl ck with an expert, But I used to work right next to one and he was always cleaning his welds between layers no matter what kind of welding he was doing.
    Pretty good>? I don't see perfect dimes. It would not pass x ray inspection. But its good enough for what your doing, don't confuse that with government work it would be rejected. I seen plenty of stuff go out to government jobs and come back failed because the welds didn't pass and they looked a hell of a lot better. But he was also a pro with 1000's of hours exp.
