    Thanks for the information. I bought two yoyos because I, too had a snail infestation. It’s been less than a week and they devoured the snails. So far they get along with the other fish; two corys, one oto, five mollies, and one gourami in a twenty gallon tank with amazon swords and a few ornaments that provide hiding places.

    I have 3 in my mixed African tank... The mbunas leave them alone, but they don't leave the mbunas alone lol. They follow them around and look like they're cleaning the other fish's scales... They're fun to watch!

    I got mine yesterday and they have already clearly out half my bladder snails. The downside is they not only hide immediately into some driftwood as soon as I come near, they are teaching my albino corys to do the same. My white clouds, cherry barbs and dwarf frogs still love me so I'm calling it a win.

    • @dwsdarius
      @dwsdarius  8 місяців тому

      Nice, if you treat them with bloodworms weekly they should associate you with food and get more comfortable when your around

    Same issue. I had snails after I replaced all the fake plants with real plants. So I bought 2 yoyo loaches. The snails are gone and no my yoyo loaches are big and look pregnant LOL. I added 2 baby yoyo loaches. Now I got 4 yoyo loaches, 2 African Dwarf frogs, and 5 ghost shrimp.

    • @rogerhuggettjr.7675
      @rogerhuggettjr.7675 8 місяців тому

      It's funny, but when I got my dwarf frogs they scared my white clouds and cherry barbs down to the plants and driftwood, but getting the loaches moved them back to the mid-level.

    My yo-yo loaches are my favorite! They become a little less active as they get bigger but they are still entertaining! They sleep a lot and in the weirdest places. They also grey out sometimes and you’ll see their black stripes disappear

    Thank you for the share! I've have only 1 in my 110_gallon south American cichlids aquarium with 5 Buenos Aires tetra, 6 black ruby barb, 1 Jack Dempsey, 1 firemouth, 1 convict, 2 red jewel cichlids, 1 redtail shark for months now. I didn't realize they were shoaling fish. It is extremely active!!! It does love to eat anything, sleep in odd places, and taunt the cichlids. I guess I should get it some companions of its own kind. I hope it won't bother my mystery snail?

    • @dwsdarius
      @dwsdarius  7 років тому

    Great episode man!
    I tell you, just yesterday I went to my local fish store and got me a green spotted puffer to do the same thing for my freshwater tank, get rid of all of the pesky snails! I knew any of the loach species would be able to do the job and would be easier to keep, but I wanted the challenge of keeping one of these beautiful species, since I've never had one before.
    Anyways, loving those yoyo loaches!

    • @dwsdarius
      @dwsdarius  7 років тому +1

      Thank you...a green spot puffer sounds awesome! Originally I bought my pea puffers for the job, they started off well then built a appetite for blood worms only...but if I get the chance the green spot would be a awesome puffer to add to my collection

    • @pdiz

      Did you ever transition him to brackish water? That's what I did to mine, it wasn't as hard as people make it out to be, just use real marine salt, and measure it, and what they ultimately need to live long and prosper.

    DUDE!!!!!!! I LOVE YOUR 55 gallon set up man, beautiful tank. And I'm in love with the Molly you have. I have a 10 gallon with 4 Molly's and dwarf fire gourami, 2 mystery snails, and some glass shrimp. I also have a 40 breeder that was infested with snails from plants I bought at my LPS. I have Malaysians and bladder snails, I picked up a yo yo loach. I fell right in love with him. I'm actually breeding these snails in my 10 gallon so he will always have them. It's already made a big difference in my snail population and it's been in my tank for 24 hours.

    Thanks for the information on fin nibbling and aggression. I've lost four tetras since I introduced 3 yo-yo- loaches. So do you think if I introduced a couple more yo-yo loaches they would leave the others alone? .

    • @dwsdarius

    hi! I know you have a lot of experience with heavily stocked tanks... I'm thinking about adding 5 or 6 of these to my 75g CA cichlid tank, it has 1 rainbow cichlid, 1 topaz cichlid, 3 acaras, 2 pictus cats, 2 BN plecos, 5 diamond tetras, 5 lemon tetras. I was thinking the yoyos might disperse aggression as they are so active... what do you think? too much? thanks, this video is fantastic!

    • @dwsdarius

    Loved to know why my Yo Yo's are pestering each other I also have a 55 gallon tank and I also only have 3 so I will also be getting 3 more, Quarantining is my problem I do not have a place for that' What's your best response for my dilemma?

    • @dwsdarius
      @dwsdarius  6 років тому

      Yeah the more the better off they are with their hierarchy...lately I've been learning some hard lessons about not quarantining...but if you can't provided a separate tank you should stick to buying in stores where you can get a good look at the fish before you buy them, make sure they don't have any visible problems...then when you bring them home bring the tanks temp up to about 82-84°F and dose with Epsom salt twice that week...that's a safe way to treat the tank incase any parasites came
