I wish every company did product videos like Peak Design. They are incredibly informative and helpful in explaining all of the features. But also, they do an incredible job selling the gear and making the benefits obvious.
I've used one since the day they came out...as a binocular strap. Lets me hang the bins low and out of the way on my hip in crossbody. Very comfortable.
While it's true you can't push the anchor through a Fuji X-T3 eyelet, you can pull it through with a piece of dental floss or similar wire of some kind. No need for split rings. More elegant solution.
I've been using my leash for almost two years now and I'm super happy with it, so much better than the standard Fuji strap. However, I could easily insert the anchors in my X-T10's eyelets.
You might have tie V3 anchors. They have a thinner cord than the newest version V4 and there are reports of fast wearing out of it. You can get V4 anchors as replacement for free.
@@timwra Seems like you're right, thanks. I had used those anchors for more than 4 years now and haven't seen any sign of wear. I'll see if I can get them replaced, thanks!
I bought a Peak Design Slide Lite and the product quality is top notch. Little tip as it took me a while to work out, its a little counter intuitive. When putting the camera on the sling setup the lens should point towards your body.
The old Leash allowed for a single mount point, making it into a proper sling strap. If you could reintroduce that feature in a revision or fully dedicate that single mount point concept into a new Leash sized strap that would be my instant go-to option. Call it the Slick, since Sling and Slide are already taken.
I would love it if you could design one that permits lens-pointing-down sling style carry, but gets round the main objection I have with arca swiss plates which is that you can’t rest the camera flat on a flat surface very well. You also need a tiny bit of extra hardware on the tripod but that is less of a concern.
Got one today, spent the entirety of my one hour bus ride home messing about with the anchors and trying to work out how sling carry works, and getting quite frustrated when I couldn't lift the camera to my face comfortably. Just as I was about to get off I pictured this video in my mind and realised he had his camera to the right... duh. Ace bit of kit, loving it as much as I imagined I would. Will probably get another for my second camera! Just wish I could afford a Capture too...
Great video, awesome camera strap. The big question is: how the hell do you open those splitter rings....and why isn’t there a small tool included in the package to help you do that...?!
if you could, in a pinch, use the head of a ballpoint pen - dont expect to use it after opening the splitter ring however. The other solution is to get those shimmy slips of metal used to open electronics. Just anything that is strong and thin enough to slit the gap of the rings
best camera strap, although i wish the bottom button was able to be removed without an allan key. on fuji cameras you have to remove it to replace the battery, so you always have to remember to carry this tool.
The fuji x 100 series like my x 100v doesn’t go well with your bottom anchor because it blocks the battery and sd card slot door but no problem, the leash is so thin ,it doesn’t get in my way when doing side portrait shots
I haven’t used the Leash but have used pretty much every other PD option. At the moment I hate the current Slide. The excess strap forms large loops down the camera attachment end because the two strap layers don’t lay flat and no means are provided to hold them flat. Those loops hook over everything! 😠
Question for Peak Design - I am currently using a capture clip attached to my Everyday Sling 10l - with the anchor for this strap attached to the bottom of this camera for sling carry, will it still fit into the capture clip, or do I need to remove it every time I'm switching carrying modes?
Still fits in the capture clip - if you attach the eyelit to the back of the clip instead of the front (it would probably work on the front, too, but I imagine you'd have to move it out of the way all the time)
@@peakdesignvideo A direct answer would have been more helpful, I have the same question. I bought the Slide Light because I did not know about the Leash
I got the Slide Lite for my A6000 a couple years ago as I didn't know about the Leash. I just got the RX100 VI and will probably order the Leash for it now.
We need the peak design brace! a nifty way to hold those pesky pants 👖 up. I look forward to the many ways to use the brace! Funny 😄 yes, but I would buy it... just saying 😎👍🏻
Base plate needs to go front to back, not side to side on the fujifilm x100v otherwise changing the battery becomes impossible as the base plate obstructs the battery door.
These split rings really are the most awkward I have used. They are also very strong once on the camera. If you are planning on changing them out often, there is actually a split ring tool out there if you search the web.
Yep, we can "send a man to the moon" , but we can't design an easier way to do this except with s split ring. I hear ya, brother! Just got mine on and by some miracle, didn't chew up my fingernails in the process.
The split rings are really, really hard to install. I would have appreciated having that part of this video. (I suspect it was left out because it’s so awkward.)
Sereita Cobbs the split rings come with the camera, not the strap, and every camera is different. Best you take your camera to a camera store and get them to help you.
You can get split ring pliers that make short work of it. They work so well I almost wish I had more opportunities to use them - look for Xuron - 496 Split Ring Pliers
Your split rings are the worst. I was working a gig and almost lost my camera because the split ring decided to open up. I love your straps though and highly recommend them! Just use a regular ring to connect anchors to camera.
I'm a little bit scared of metal buckles, it can likely scratch the camera or display when when it's put into any bag attached without taking special care. Otherwise it's something i'm looking for. Aren't people complaining about this? Maybe display is covered by protective glass which is hard enough, but I'm not going to try it.
I like how easy you can grab the camera when wearing it crossbody. But I’m the person who wears crossbody straps always on the right shoulder. Because of that I use the anchor on the grip side of the camera and the one on the plate so the camera hangs close to my left side with the lens facing down. 🙂
So you say this leash can do anything? Oke i'm in sling mode. I'm on a spot where I want to shoot for a longer while. Now I want to take the camera off the lease... I have to take two anchers off. Now I have a loose lease around my shoulder. I need to put the camera down in order to tug the lease in my pocket... Old one was better. What where you thinking when you designed this new lease??
i was thinking the same, but what if you put one of the remaining anchors on one of the buckles then attach the other on the anchor? just an idea, i don't even have one of those

Another really good instruction video with the right dose of humor and explained in a slow and detailed way - ideal for training.

Didn't realize I could connect it to the tripod bracket, that's a great tip.

They are impossible and bend very easily. Unfortunately, I bent it and now fear that the loop will come out of the split ring if its installed.

great design👍👍
Looks great. But how do I connect a Leash to a common tripod, like Manfrotto?
Where did you get those blackened oval rings?
Will the leash be able to stay put on my back in sling mode while cycling or do i need a camera strap stabilizer?
best camera strap, although i wish the bottom button was able to be removed without an allan key. on fuji cameras you have to remove it to replace the battery, so you always have to remember to carry this tool.
I leave it on my keys.

Is a tripod mount sturdy enough for this use? Because its not made for this....
Ive had the leash for over a year...didn’t know you could use it sling style 😊
is there a grip on the side which touches body or neck?

I hear about this thing not staying flat, falling out of the socket and dropping the camera. Has the issue been fixed?
My WIFE really likes your table top. Well, she would if she was into photography leash videos!
some tips to avoid the camera to record the noise made by the anchors hitting the body? just got mine today...
Use gaffers tape to hold them down when recording and not using a strap.
I can’t get my anchors to release from the strap!

Using a camera strap always was and still is annoying. I personally use a small bag and love using my camera solo without any strap attached to it.
How to mount on tripod with anchor attached to camera?
Pretty sure you need to remove the anchor
