I don’t normally yell at the tv but I’m yelling, “Queen Elizabeth”, “Gone with the Wind(looks like Scarlett’s huge hat)”, “The Sound of Music doll”, “Hummel doll”!!! Alex is not excited by all the dolls but those are all highly collectible. Some of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. Love you to find a doll expert and talk about them. They’re incredible. And to have all those complete sets.

Hi Alex - I believe that the Alexander Doll Company “Louisa” doll read “The Sound of Music” on the side of the box. That would be one of the Sound of Music children. I also noticed in the box - a piece of paper or cardboard with a guitar on it. Take care.

Those beautiful dolls don't belong in plastic bags hidden in a luggage in some closet. Such amazing treasures should be enjoyed and looked at. I am glad Alex rescued them from their prison 🙂
From what I've read the owner had been sharing her collection at doll shows for over 20 years and as recently as 2018. Hopefully Alex will share more as there are articles about the owner online.
This was such a Wonderful video! It reminded me of the Beautiful things my Beloved Grandma used to find me at Goodwill in the late 1960's and early 1970's and some of those dolls were from the 50's and early 60's, were also packed in pretty older suit cases in pink, blue and one was black with flowers. Socks Shoes Clothes and Hats were there and Shoes with stockings. One year for my Birthday (1971) she gave me an old Army shoulder bag full of Paperdolls from the 50's and 60's. They had came from an American Base in Germany! I still wished I had them! I miss them! ❤️❤️👯👭👫👬❤️❤️
Well... I've been saving my suitcase that I got new in 1972 - has a combination lock on it - 018 (my age at the time) - It sits empty but now I know what I will put in it!!! I have some dolls in a storage bin that will now live in my vintage suitcase. Enjoyed the video!!!
Unbelievable how this person kept all the dolls and their accessories with such an amazing care. Grateful for all the comments with so much information, thank you. These suitcases are a dream come true for any little girl that appreciates vintage/antique dolls! 🤩
Oh yes, those old dress patterns are highly collectible. Especially when you consider that clothing patterns are on the verge of extinction. They are being eclipsed by pattern designers online. Sad but has come to that.
What an amazing collection of dolls! It's usually the little tiny accessories that go missing first so it is wonderful that so many are still with the dolls!
I certainly hope your reading all these comments about the beautiful dolls you have, it sounds like you may have some very exciting little ladies there mr Alex !!!!!!!!!
The Alexander doll company and Madame Alexander are the same company. The Scarlett O’Hara/Vivian Leigh Doll was the first doll created from a licensed character (Scarlett O’Hara). She’s probably valuable, especially if you find any of her clothing or accessories made by Madame Alexander specifically for that doll. She definitely needs to be thoroughly researched and properly valued before she goes to auction.
I live near the museum for Gone With the Wind & that doll is in a case there & I am pretty sure that one has on the green "drapery" dress. I just went there last month while driving through the area..I will let them know he found one they might be interested in it for their collection..wish Alex read messages to see this !
@@Tcosby Also a classic skit by Carol Burnett. She didn't remove the curtain rod from the draperies before putting on the dress and coming down the stairs. 🙂
As someone who used to collect dolls, this collection looks so familiar: The patterns for clothing ideas, the small jewelry pieces to use with a doll, the bits and pieces of clothing. This just brings me back to my younger days. Such fun!
There have been very few times I can say I didn't envy you your finds! I sometimes gasped when something familiar to me popped up! Or something very new for my eyes to behold. But this doll find is turning me green with envy! What a beautiful collection! My stomach and heart did flip flops remembering my childhood days of playing with my dress up doll. Never had Barbie. I still have my Tammy doll and a few of her off the rack outfits, and a few of the ones I designed and sewed as her couturier. Thank you for the many wonderful memories you've shared with me over the years without you knowing it. This find was especially touching because I can go downstairs and take my fond memories out of her carrying case for a one more strut down on the runway. Merry Christmas, Archbold family. 🎄🎁 Season's Greetings to all who come and watch this heartwarming show and puts up with the dad jokes. 🎀
these dolls deserve an auction of their own, so they don't get lost in the whole mass of stuff from the Christmas house. The suitcases are quite nice too.
You need to reach out to some doll collectors to properly value this collection. It's just lovely! As little girl I love looking in the windows at the Madame Alexander shop in our town. Our of reach financially for our family but, fun to look at.
Love this little series. Even though I'm not into dolls, I find it very entertaining to watch you uncover these precious dolls. I'm sure there are people out there who love to have them.
Looks like she was a hobbyist rather than a hoarder. Crafters homes are stocked...and she used real people to design doll clothes ....money in that hobby itself! Rare gift indeed! You are lucky to find these. Thank you for sharing this, I love seeing these. Christian Dior was inspired by a doll collection that's now in the museum.
My internal little girl was jumping up and down. 🙂 Loved dolls when I was little. Heck, I love them now, I just don't have room for any, and adults playing with dolls is kind of frowned upon, lol. But the Sound of Music Louisa one! Vintage patterns and clothing are very "in" right now, and those look fun styles.
I love all the dolls that you're finding are just so fascinating and wonderful condition on the 50s and the '60s and before that Queen Alexander dress I recognize that before you said what it was
OMG you have hit doll gold! That Queen Elizabeth is worth quite a bit more now that the Queen is gone. And all the Madame Alexander dolls! Oh my. I can recognize Mme. Alexanders by their faces. Yes, they are the same. I do know dolls since I collected them all my life. I’d be willing to help you figure value as bestas can be done long distance. They are out of my price range though I wish I could own them, but I cannot. But you should get them valued for what they’re worth.
Yes I agree. I hope he doesn't just lump them in with another huge Kastner auction. Someone went to so much effort to keep them like that and it would be sad if they just got sold off cheaply.
I hope you keep the dolls with all their accessories together as they were. I worry about this as you removed the dolls and put them elsewhere. Also you really should get a doll expert to do valuations on each doll. Some may be worth way more than you imagine.
Hi Alex the round straw 'mat' in the Vivien leigh case could be like scarlets big flat hat she wore to the bbq at 12 oakes at the beginning of the film. It would have ribbons threaded across the crown and tied in a big bow to keep the sun off her complexion.
You know I get so excited for my day when you post this is amazing to see all of these dolls and vintage and antique items it really makes me happy and I'm so thankful you post your amazing finds thank you

ETA: I guess Madame/Alexander is the same doll company, but diffferent lines - the "Alexander-Kins" are plastic instead of composite. That Elizabeth in that dress has listings for 300+ on Ebay!
It's so fun listening to Alex's reactions, he so obviously was once a little boy who played with matchbox cars: "It's like the fanciest little dress ever." It's a lovely dress, but all the sewing notes are what has my attention. My hobby is making journals decorated with vintage paper (postcards, receipts, ledger pages) and my fingers are itching to make a keepsake journal out of all those hand-written fashion notes and the sewing patterns -- what a treasure!
I suspect each suitcase is a specific doll and it's accessories. And yes, thought that was a Hummel doll, they have a distinctive face. (Collectors generally removed clothing when storing a doll but kept parts together.)😊 The collector obviously loved her collection and stored it well. The amount of time and research is evident. Enjoying this!!!!TFS.
these dolls are a real treasure I wish that I could have had some of these when I was little, I have one alexander doll with a red ice skating outfit and slip on ice skates and bonnet, Barb.
All the dolls are just wonderful! Alex, since you're a Hot Wheels and Matchbox kind of guy, you have no idea! I would love to dig through each and every one of their suitcases, their accessories, and their provenance. Heavenly! Also, Little Red Riding Hood was instantly recognizable as a Hummel, but who knew there were dolls?! (Can't believe I'm so excited about the dolls. When my grandmother visited, she always got on me about my dolls and their sad state of undress. She insisted I get them all dressed. Quick, take a picture Grandma, it won't last!)

I’m loving these mini reveal vids! I saw the Hummel doll and thought it resembled Hummel figurines and I was right ( for once😊). The woman who had these dolls was very good with details and keeping notes. ❤❤❤❤
Agreed. Rather than guessing, Alex can just google the words on the index cards and find out what he has bought. This is how he learns stuff. Remember back in the early days of this channel, he had no interest in costume jewelry. Then people in the comments gave him some tips and now he knows to pick out the valuable items. Same with Pyrex.
Fascinating. I am not a doll collector and would not buy a doll but I am very tempted by this collection due to ephemera that comes with them. It is like they lived their life and have their own story to tell. I think that their value is in individual collection of stuff. So make sure that everything is where it belongs Alex. Collectors will love all that.
Another great video of some really nice finds! I've always loved dolls & been fascinated with miniatures. And Shari Lewis & Lambchop were special favorites, the TV show was on when I was around 5 years old. I remember them well. Thank you so much for sharing ❤️
@@aerona85n8 one tip....if storing in a suitcase I recommend silica gel packets to absorb moisture. You can buy a tub at most craft shops and make up your own little sachets. 😉
When he opened that one I was thinking that the doll looked familiar and when he said that it was a Hummel doll I thought a ha.. of course, that's what it is.
They way that each piece no matter the size was cared for is remarkable. So often people associate “hoard” as messy and sloppy. But that’s not always the case. Organized chaos maybe but this person def carefully collected their belongings.
She was a collector with about 500 dolls. There's a difference between a hoarder and an avid collector and maybe something led to a hoarding situation but that doesn't appear to be the case with the dolls. There is great love and care taken with every doll we've seen so far...a beautiful and historical collection.
I was excited that I actually recognized some of these things like the Queen Elizabeth dress because of the banner plus the Madam Alexander doll that you dressed. The older dolls are more collectible & are a higher value. Loved seeing the Hummel doll, very sweet face. Thank you.
TREASURES! i collected dolls in the 80s. so much fun. everything was a beloved treasure. worth far more to the to the person collecting than in any current retail setting.
Good idea! I think definitely a special doll auction is the way to go with such incredible finds. Whether that's through Kastner or another company, Alex will get much more money if it's advertised as a specialty auction.
Alex, I am loving this video. It’s so cute watching you talk about dolls! Lol. I want you to find one Hot Wheel to make you happy! You will be very knowledgeable when you are finished here. These are not the dolls that people collect today. I hope they bring a good price for you
When you first opened the red riding hood looking doll 🙀🤯 I was OMG that's a Hummel. I didn't know that they made dolls. You have a fantastic collection there.

The replica dress of Queen Elizabeth for the doll was beautiful. I had an Aunt who taught me to make dresses for my Barbie. Be kind to one another. Be safe out there people. No drinking & driving. Love to all
I hope with your large audience now that some viewers will help spread the word into the doll collecting community that you have hit the motherboard, to the right collectors these are true treasures :) which...is pretty much the way with all collections. They are valuable to the "right" collector. The little doll with the red and white Polk a dot dress reminds me of a dress that Lucile Ball wore in one of her episodes of I love Lucy. Maybe look into that to see if that doll was supposed to be dressed up as Lucy...if so, everything to do with Lucy is highly collectable.
It’s coming across to me that you possibly should be looking at a better way of selling those antique dolls rather than through auction…. You have a collectors dream in front of you and this coukd be worth lots of money! Wonderful finds Alex!
Cool stuff again! Love it! ( Just thought you should know, I think your video cut off prematurely. You were still talking about some dolls in a suitcase when it abruptly cuts off. Not your usual ending.)
In 1965ish I went to a doll museum in Welch's Oregon at the foot of Mt hood. It was run my an older lady she actually lived there. I always wondered what happened to all of those dolls. It was a very large collection. I so enjoyed seeing all those dolls I was 15 or 16 I always loved my dolls I still have most of them (they are a bit pitiful now but well loved)
The Scarlet doll.... The first thing you picked up was her straw hat. In the front right corner I saw green velvet which she used to tie on her straw hat, then towards back left I saw a floral and pink fabric in a plastic bag and I am pretty sure that is THE dtess! Don't "think about it now. Think about it tomorrow. After all, tomorrow is another day!" Cue exit music......
I loved watching this episode where you found all the vintage dolls cuz I love vintage dolls also and I have some Alexander dolls that are old too that I found at an outlet store in Colorado and it's a second hand outlet and I found a bunch of them and took them to fix out there in Colorado one day to tighten them all up cuz they were all loose at the doll shop Colorado but I enjoyed this show thank you

As a doll collector I admit I store my favorites in suitcases as well..keeps all their stuff together
Yes, and then I rotate displays with the seasons as display real estate is minimal, lol.
This is brilliant! I have (far too many) American Girl dolls and accessories. Love the suitcase idea.
@@aerona85n8 one tip....if storing in a suitcase I recommend silica gel packets to absorb moisture. You can buy a tub at most craft shops and make up your own little sachets. 😉
Love the dolls. Fun to watch as you pull another one out. Thanks for sharing
Love love the dolls! Don't rush please.
Thank you.
Loving this , just brilliant. Stuff we would never see again even if you dont like dolls.
That is a awesome amazing set of dolls Some of them I never even heard of before And to have the complete little set that's amazing
Just saw an article on the good housekeeping website that said these could potentially be valuable! That’s pretty neat!
TREASURES! i collected dolls in the 80s. so much fun. everything was a beloved treasure. worth far more to the to the person collecting than in any current retail setting.
Good afternoon! Thank you for posting this series.
Such a treasure of a find ,as someone who once got a vanity case for Xmas as a child ,even they fill me with excitement let alone the contents 😘
The Alderfer Auction Co. here in Pennsylvania, has a special doll auction that brings in incredible prices.
Good idea! I think definitely a special doll auction is the way to go with such incredible finds. Whether that's through Kastner or another company, Alex will get much more money if it's advertised as a specialty auction.
wonderful how she had the collections together in the suitcases...thanks for sharing
Wow! So many dolls. So glad she grouped them together.
When these sweet couture dolls are sold would you tell the value. Love watching your treasures! Beth
What a huge selection of dolls, w/history and huge collections of accessories.
Such detail to how things were packed away and all the accessories. A real find for doll collectors.
Alex, I am loving this video. It’s so cute watching you talk about dolls! Lol. I want you to find one Hot Wheel to make you happy! You will be very knowledgeable when you are finished here. These are not the dolls that people collect today. I hope they bring a good price for you
Wonderful dolls! Thanks Alex!
When you first opened the red riding hood looking doll 🙀🤯 I was OMG that's a Hummel. I didn't know that they made dolls. You have a fantastic collection there.
The bidding on these dolls is going to surprise you. This lady knew what she was doing.
I'm a doll personand my fingers itch to touch those dolls. They are gorgeous! The little country girl is Rebecca of Sunnybrook farm.
@@Pbav8tor i would give anything to just be able to go through every little item.I have always loved dolls and am a miniature artist.Alex is so lucky and hasn't a clue what treasures he has discovered.I hope all the great comments people left him help him get the best prices for his precious discovery !
I was looking up “Queen Elizabeth dress sash” when you started connecting the dots! So cool!!!
When you find things packed with a doll, you should keep them together with the doll. It increases the value!
Wow, it looks like she was doing tons of research for each doll to make their outfits. (Thinking the first couple that included patterns and fabric)
The replica dress of Queen Elizabeth for the doll was beautiful. I had an Aunt who taught me to make dresses for my Barbie. Be kind to one another. Be safe out there people. No drinking & driving. Love to all
Watching all that dust float around just had me sneezing, hahaha! The dolls are beautiful. So well kept 😊
I know, right? That 10 inch Hummel is SWEET!
It's hit the motherlode. If you hit the motherboard, you'll break your computer.
There’s also a Shirley Temple doll that came with a white dress with red polka dots on it.
Oh, look! A pair of cotton gloves for you to wear when you are handling those late 1800s early 1900s dolls!!!! (hint hint)
Those patterns are gorgeous!
Red Riding Hood doll is a Hummell
Yep
Recognize it anywhere. Worth money.
He did say that!
I was just going to say same thing until I seen ur comment. My mother collected Hummel's. We lived in Germany when dad was in air force
I watch channels where gals sew vintage clothing! Those patterns are exciting
Cissy was and is very collectable and she has tons of clothes and could come dressed as celebrity.
It’s coming across to me that you possibly should be looking at a better way of selling those antique dolls rather than through auction…. You have a collectors dream in front of you and this coukd be worth lots of money! Wonderful finds Alex!
I love the old sewing patterns!
The doll stuff is so sweet.
Those patterns from the 40s are worth a lot of money.
No they’re not, they’re very common to find. Because back then everyone sewed and a lot of the patterns were saved.
I kept yelling “put the Queen’s crinolines back in her case!”. 🤣
Same!
Haha! It was actually making me uncomfortable!
I did do a lot of silent yelling at this one!!😂
same
Me too! I hope he doesn’t get the sets mixed up.
The dolls may be undressed as that is how you are supposed to store them. Cloths and jewellery may mark them up over time.
I still have my dolls from the 50's and 60's,Mine are well loved also
I was named after Shari Lewis, I was so excited to see that old suitcase with that doll in it
The Scarlet doll....
I loved watching this episode where you found all the vintage dolls cuz I love vintage dolls also and I have some Alexander dolls that are old too that I found at an outlet store in Colorado and it's a second hand outlet and I found a bunch of them and took them to fix out there in Colorado one day to tighten them all up cuz they were all loose at the doll shop Colorado but I enjoyed this show thank you
Patterns @ 20¢. THOSE were the days!
I am enjoying this collection very much. Having the dolls in such good condition and with all those accessories make them worth even more. I really hope you can connect with a doll collector group rather the the the regular auction. Just hate to think of it all taken apart😔. Keep up the a
Great vid! My intuition would be a separate doll auction!
I recognized Queen Elizabeth's dress right away!
I did too!
