How to Put Gasoline in a FIAT 500X / Jeep Renegade (With a gas can. Read the description)

- My wife came home freaking out that the gauge was on empty and she didn't think she had enough gasoline to get to the gas station. No big deal. I have about 10 gallons of gas in various gas cans in the garage.
So I started trying to put some gas in her tank with my gas cans. The gasoline kept pouring out all over the side of her car, and on my shoes! There's something in the filler tube that prevents the gas from flowing into the tank. I spilled about a half gallon of gas just trying to put a couple of gallons in her tank, and I was literally worried I was going to catch the car on fire!
A few minutes of internet research told me that there's a funnel down where the spare tire goes, and you MUST use the funnel to put gas in the tank with a gas can. I found the funnel, put it into the fill tube, and only then was I able to use a gas can to put gas in her tank. I think it's a ridiculous design. Apparently this is common on most fuel systems that don't have gas caps.
I put FIAT 500X / Jeep Renegade in the title because they are nearly identical other than the shape of the sheet metal. They are made on the same chassis on the same assembly line.

Yooo same!! I was pouring it in only to hear it flooding out the bottom! Made it to a gas station finally and then put the nozzle in and all was fine

@@ODRModurol Yes. :-) I really enjoyed making videos on my XK8. I pretty much stopped for about 7 years. Then I bought the XKR. I posted a video about taking out the rear windows about a year go. And within the last month or two I bought new camera equipment to start making new videos. In fact, watch this video and notice how stable the camera is. My hot camera operator (who doesn't know when to fill up the gas tank) is using a fancy gizmo to stabilize the video. I have a couple of videos in the works, so just standby. There's more to come.

@@ODRModurol I don't think they have AAA in the UK, but here in the US they are the people who change flat tires and put gas in your car when you run out. My wife ran out of gas so many times that they sent us a letter stating they were going to cancel our membership if she ran out of gas again. LOL!
I hope you're on jaguarforums.com, because that's what got me started on these UA-cam videos. They are a great resource for Jaguar owners. I sold my 2003 XK8 about 8 years ago, but now I own a 2010 XKR.
