Tomislav your teaching is perfect to my way of learning. Thank you so much. I’m a 71yr old retired ME I have learned an a great amount from you. I’m a woodworker that turns sparingly and you keep helping me build my skills.
Thank you very much sir,I really appriciate that
Thanks for the good explanation on the step jaws. May God bless
A talented woodturner did say to his admirer Ray, you too can be as expert as me if attention to me you will pay. Attention to you I do pay then replied novice Ray, but I can’t even keep a sharp edge on my steel without turning it into a beak. I’ve nothing to hide the expert replied and I’m sure, given time, that you too can turn sawdust and glue and other things too into shavings and dust if you tried. The shavings and dust is the easy part replied Ray feeling blue, but I’ve been told it will take another nine years and by then I will be eighty two 😢 Great video and thank you for taking the time to share 🌞
Love the story sir, much like Yoda spoke... Thank you for watching
Great lessons Tomislav.
🕶thanks Tomislav.
Very informative.
Well described and explained.
Yes, one day I'll upgrade my 100mm jaws to a set of step jaws.
Ever since you and Richard made me decide I want to need to remove fewer tenons from my bowls my creativity in design has gone up. I feel like I've got a lot of technical stuff down and now I need to get better at interesting design, which comes from limiting your tools and forces you to do more with less.
Enjoy your jaws and thanks for the demo, Tomislav.
Thank you Jay 😀
Thank you for that very informative lesson on different chuck jaws.
Thank you for watching
Gday Tommi,
I’ve bought all my vicmarc gear direct from vicmarc in Brisbane australia. Marco is great to deal with. There opening hours are a little strange though. From memory mon to thurs 7 am to 3pm. AEST.
I either ring or email and Marco gets back to me very quickly, I’ve purchased my own gear and chucks for the turning shed I belong to.
Other option pick up your vicmarc gear when you come on down to Oz to demonstrate.
The video is as usual fantastic. You certainly have a knack for teaching and instruction.
Your descriptions about bowl design and footings is about the best I’ve seen.
I’d be happy to use to show my trainees at our shed.
Thanks for taking time out of your productIon turning schedule to make these great videos Tommi
Hi Greg, I did wanna buy direct from Marco,we did spoke a lot beacuse of the sponzorship, last customs fee almost cost as much as the chuck it self so hopefully my customs will change something soon, that is why I order from Hope woodturning ☺️
The best solution is always to buy more stuff!
Sometimes,but really not nessesary
Sorry Tomislav, I thinkI may have bought the last set of step jaws for the VM 120 from Simon Hope a month ago. He must be waiting for more stock from Australia. They do force you to make the correct profile on a bowl and are very useful.
Glad you bought them😉 I'll get my hands on it soon👍
Timely info as I am currently looking at investing in new chucks for my larger lathe (so I won’t need an adapter anymore).
This is a great adition to jaws collection 😀
My setup is the VM150/big shark, VM120/std, Axminster SK100/O'donnell, Nova SuperNova2/std, VM escoulen, a small hurricane and a collet chuck.
That is nice setup
Are you saying that the jaws for Vicmarc chucks are not interchangeable between chuck bodies? That seems like a huge disadvantage…. I have a few Axminster chucks of various sizes and all the jaws can go on any of the chuck bodies…
Its big differents between vm100 and 120 especially 150 so you can interchange between 120 and 150 but not with smaller 100 chuck.... Pretty much all other manufacturers like axminster have 80mm and 100mm diameter chucks and jaws have same hole pattern, as does vm90 and vm100 from Vicmark.... But 120 and 150 are much bigger and more buffed up versions
I have a set of step jaws, and I have exactly this experience! It forces me to not make weird bowls, because they wont fit in the chuck!
Nicely said 😉
How many bowls per hour? Bph I’m at about 4-5 , so it’s time to upgrade!😂
Last batch was around 30 bowls and plates in around 4 hours....
