I’m 6-3 and just got fitted with a 1-inch longer red dot iron set. Tried them on the course for the first time the other day and DAMN did I have more distance and straighter shots than I’ve ever had.
Great review Hannah I’ve just tried the G430 and fitted with white dot. Ping certainly know how to do a fitting which is probably why I’ve had more Ping sets than any other brand.
Hannah thank you so much for this episode. I’ve been swinging Ping irons and never knew and always wondered what the different colored dots were I knew it had to be with a way they measured the differences between the clubs but what that spec was I had zero idea. Thank you for the education I’ve subscribed and turned in the notification bell I look forward to more great content. Keep on girl! 👍🏻
That was fascinating Hannah! lol. I always wondered about those Ping Dots. :). I am a short golfer myself. Only about 5 feet 6 inches lol. Still playing with my Ping hybrids and woods. Manchester, Connecticut checking in. Have a great day. Thanks for this review.
I'm 6'6" and according to the chart I'm right at the intersection of white/silver ad +1.5" in length. BUT....huge but.....with my stance and how my arms hang I actually hit standard length and I'm orange (-2 flat). Standard, black dot, has my shots going left and off the toe. Red, -1 flat, brought my desperation closer to center and my strikes closer to the middle of the face. Then I had the guy put me in orange and that gave me the best turf interaction and brought my desperation closer to center and my strikes were pretty much dead center on the face. Guy said he never seen anything like that. I just laughed and ordered my i530's in orange with retro spec. Good times.
Loved the video, very informative and will follow you now (I subscribed). Just wondering if shaft length make a difference to the required lie set up? Most retailers offer differing lengths and graphite are longer than steel. Could you possibly cover that at some stage... The winter is fading and I am keen to get back on the course and practice bay.
I’ve been fitted twice and both times I felt like I’ve been fit for irons too upright for me both times. I feel like sometimes hitting the board causes me to come in too steep.
Chart for me is blue but I bought 2nds (i200s) in green and they are fine. I have a wedge in white too and again fine. I know there is merit in fitting but the cost is very exsy and we dont play off flat boards, its uneven grass. Not a fan of the colour system.
great vid! I always set my Pings -1* and flat 1*, keeps my hooks under control which is why I only play Ping woods/hybrids. I usually do black on irons then red or orange on wedges, did he recommend less lie for wedges? I am curious though, I would have loved to ask him why all custom fitters say the lie board is out and old school? I dont know why, do you?
Nice! Yes I have more upright woods and then flatter irons. Typically you go flatter in your wedges unless your irons are already quite flat. For the lie board you sometimes get issues if the golfer strikes a long way before the ball as the club bounces and can give an incorrect lie angle mark. If you have trackman on though you can pick this up through angle of attack and impact location data
Stick to black dot unless you play blades or are very low handicap. Cavity players are too inconsistent for a different dot to really help. One day the ball is off the heel, next its off the toe. Its a neat system but correcting a swing is key.
This is bad advice. I’m 6’1” and play the Brown 3 degree flat irons. It’s based on your own swing. I’m an old school flatter swing plane, not the dreaded upright swing they have been pushing for 40-50 years now!

Lie angle and club length is way more important than people think! Irons hit the ground so it has to be right or things start getting funky!
Ping irons... untouchable.. absolutely brilliant!

Great video. I’m considering getting my lie angle adjusted now.
Explained perfectly and easy to understand. 👍
This is an awesome video with GREAT information. Thank you
thanks!
You’re dealing with multiple compound angles when analyzing lie angles, face loft, shaft angle at address, shaft angle at impact. Much to consider.

I’m also orange! It is interesting how they can vary from static measurements to your actual dynamic swing
Very interesting video. Thanks for producing this.
Great video - easy to understand and a good touch at the end to try something very different to what would suit you.
I couldn’t believe how much the last one moved! Seriously big draw 🤣
Nice review and great idea to try the opposite end of the fitting spectrum to see how far off it would send your ball. Subscribing now.
Thanks for the sub!

If a shaft is cut down shorter it will make it play flatter so a 1 degree flat may become 2 flat depending on how much is cut off.
Good test of lie angle. I will establish my lie angle this season.

With Ping?

Looked blue too me 🤷🏻♂️😘
Very interesting! 👍
Love this channel!
thank you!
Very good video, breakdown of points made easy to understand, keep up the great work 👍🏻
thank you!
Is there a separate ping color chart for women and men?
No it is the same for everyone!
As an American. Not use to English ladies. She's cool. And pretty cute. Respectfully

Does anyone know how to get a colour code for a ping g15 driver, the shaft is worn a little bit need to spray it thanks
Great video
Thanks!
5"11 & 34"?
Ball flight determines lie angle not a lie angle board .
They use both don't worry!
Keen analysis Maxwell. 🙄
My wedges are different colour to irons , 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
5.25 in no shaft on iron ? went from black to orange with no comment ? apart from that good vid
Just shows the importance of Custom Fitting.
Definitely!

Great video, but sometimes the lie board will be wrong.
Now I’m confused. He demonstrates a club being too flat but he says the toe would dig in. Isn’t that too uptight?
I really couldn’t care less about anything.
