The basic idea of human rights is that each one of us, no matter who we are or where we are born, is entitled to the same basic rights and freedoms. That may sound straightforward enough, but it gets incredibly complicated as soon as anyone tries to put the idea into practice. What exactly are the basic human rights? Who gets to pick them? Who enforces them-and how? Benedetta Berti explores the subtleties of human rights.

In the era of digitalization, law needs to be adapted to protect and safeguard fundamental rights. One can see that digital rights can be closely linked to freedom of expression and privacy. Therefore in my opinion an individual should have the right to access the internet to avoid digital divide. Additionally, an individual should have control over who stores their personal data etc,; the right to privacy.
@i'm the king I believe Religion is not the basis or source from which morals stem from, but rather, the other way around. I believe that morals are the basis from which religion stems from. Without morals, religion will be worthless and meaningless, and there will be no longer any need to follow them. But in spite of popular belief, morals exist beyond the scope and boundaries of religion. After all, morals are inherent to human relationships, and without morals, there will be no meaningful relationships between people. Morals form the basis for social interaction and bonding between humans. And the inverse is true. Without human relationships, there will be no need for morals, and any morals that we implement will be futile and meaningless. Therefore, I believe the source of morals is the human desire to form relationships with other humans and bring meaning to those interactions.
there is no "right" to privacy of data once you give your data into the care of others. You are delusional.

The problem is too many people are shameless liars that pretend humans all agree on what a human right should be. The term "human rights" is being manipulated around the world for nationalist, political and ethnic causes.. The first thing we need to do is narrow down the definition of human rights to something that is agreed upon in practice not just virtue signalling

I believe in universal human rights and I loved this video. Hopefully, in the future, more countries will accept this idea, and that more people will live peacefully irrespective of personal differences.
You need to read more and not just take what you hear for granted. Universal human rights are an outdated idea, held up by literal globalists.
Human rights are imaginary, not part of your genes. Just like you don't have a soul, you don't have any rights, either. There is no magical forcefield of "rights" protecting you and your rights from being violated. Not by nature, not by people. You have to do that yourself, or enter into a collective nation with other people, who can protect you and the things you value to be a "right". And when you do one day sit down and try coming up with original ideas, what you think the rights should be in your nation, you will find they are not universal. You will even find that some rights conflict with each other, and that you have to prioritize between them. Good luck on your journey. Hope I dispelled some myths.
@@Google_Censored_Commenter There's an ideologist, and there's a realist. Human rights are an ideal. An ideal of a better world, one that we respect each other. Although your point might be more realistic, it's the ideal we're talking about here.

If cops show up at your house and claim they have a report that you stockpile drugs, dangerous animals and weapons of mass destruction on your property, and they have a warrant to search the house, do you have a universal and inalienable right to keep these intruders off your property?
Is their right to enter your house and search it to keep others safe a "phony" right?

The only individual rights a person has are any rights they themselves can enforce. If an individual can't enforce a given right by themselves and needs someone else, or some group, to enforce that right, it is no longer a right and is a privilege bestowed by that enforcement group. The pitch of universal human rights, is a pitch for a universal one world government. A government that can give you everything you want is a government that can take everything from you. If you want to truly give people rights, you must give them individually the power to enforce those rights themselves. This is why the 2nd amendment of the constitution in the United States of America is so debated and such a hot topic. On one hand people need arms to enforce their rights from criminal individuals and criminal governments, but on the other hand everyone having arms now has the power to end some one else right to life. Honestly, I personally think the idea of rights is just that, an idea, and in practice, in the real world, is nothing but legal fiction.

the importance of the standardization of democracy in the relation of the freedoms and the equities of the people, so as not to commit the mistakes of the past. It is the need of the UN, but of the freedom of nations.
In recent events I've had my Human Rights violated in multiple ways including unfair pay, unreasonable actions taken against my freedom, including wrongful imprisonment. Obstruction of peace by "peace officers" aka APD and RPD. Almost as more of a bargaining/extortion strategy to achieve cooperation in personal conduct, that was in no way affecting them directly in accordance with the law. They would follow me home and this got to the point of APD moving across the street from me and taunting me using my schedule and natural movement (my tendency to leave home or go outside) to taunt me. Then progressed to the places (Home Depot, Frontier restaurant) I was visiting as having security profile me and make unfair judgement on my character. This to be summed up by enforcement waiting outside of my workplace and down my street with a red light on and stalking me. Thanks Michelle Lujan. P.S. I was doing nothing in-just.
Contract makes the law. Consent to entering into a contract gives the system power over you thus keeping you under private law subjugation. This is what is difficult to fight off so we can enter into the elusive world of natural (human) rights.
Is an international document that states basic rights and fundamental freedoms to which all human beings are entitledand fundamental freedoms to which all human beings are entitled.
And no explanation is ever given as to why people are entitled to basic rights and fundamental freedoms. Human Right's are a meme
It is really disappointing to find out how so many people find themselves in positions of influence and use their power in an unfair and abusive way. Personally I don't think anyone should be in any position where they can get away with ignoring or blocking someone else's basic rights- whether it be a parent, a teacher, a local politician, a top-ranking government employee, etc. There are plenty of dysfunctions that are propagated by such forms of undue discrimination.
Well said.
Thank you!
You have a right to life, the things that you produce, your skills, and what was freely given to you.
There is a trap in your statement. Someone cannot afford healthcare for a treatable illness, but they will die without treatment. Is letting them die due to a lack of money a right to life violation? Does right to life mean that your life should be saved? Does it just mean no-one can kill you without legal penalties? That previous statement has another trap; by denying healthcare for aforementioned illness, you are killing them indirectly, does not killing without legal penalties mean affordable healthcare, as denying healthcare can cause indirect death? Your last item, what should be freely given? Should we let people be stuck in a poverty pit because they cannot get quality education? Vague human rights produce a loaded question.

When it comes to "Human Rights" I think of them as something that can be applied to the earliest humans. You have the right to speak and live in freedom, to defend yourself, practice your religious beliefs. You don't have the right to harm or restrict other's freedoms; you relinquish your rights when you trample another's.
When people like to say housing or healthcare is a human right, that's where I start having issues. Yes, you have the right to build or buy housing for yourself, but you don't have the right to enforce someone to provide goods or services to you. Digital rights get a little murky with my ideal outlines of human rights, but I believe everyone has the right to privacy. However privacy is interpreted is up to the law makers but we should all agree that doxing of any kind should be illegal.

Culture and education is more important than most people would think. In most Western nations, human rights seem obvious and "objective". But that's only because the concept of human rights mostly developed in the West. So in most other nations, even if they seem "developed" (like in Asia), they have little to no concept of human rights, due to lack of education about human rights, as well as lack of historical cultural context of having human rights.
