What a difference a good teacher and a week’s worth of practice makes. I’ve gone from stick figure hands to, “Oh! Look at me!! I’m drawing hands!!!” In. One. Week. After 60 years of telling myself, I can’t draw. Thank you, Brandon.
Big win! Hopefully you're still drawing and enjoying the craft!! Take pride in that you had doubts, and then smashed them to become accomplished at something you never believed that you could. Love and light.
I deeply appreciate how someone who has obviously drawn for so long can still go back to their roots and deconstruct everything to its simplest form for us noobs, it all makes so much sense and I can honestly say you are one of the biggest reasons I keep going back to my sketch book
I like this approach, it's more playful than I've had before. There's an art class local to me but the teacher really emphasises the realism, and I just wanna sketch roughly, I'm put off by endless shading and refining, I just wanna draw stuff well enough for people to recognise what I'm drawing. This feels a lot more open ended and less pressure to do it perfectly.
I cant agree more , not depression but everyone have sad or happy moments, so i want to know drawing, painting, sketching to express all my feelings through drawing yep, to draw anything what i want and what is in my head❤ and i will do it Oh and how it is going now bc it was written 2 years ago

Thank you for doing these free videos. You're easy to understand and just a wonderful instructor because you are low keyed and don't insist on perfection the first time around. I very much need the real understanding of perspective and I choose you. Books often aren't well written or maybe they are but having an example to work with is the real key; seeing it come to form is even better

7 days to create the world*: he created humans on the seventh day, the other days he created time, weather, geology, animals and a bunch of other things, but your comment made me actually laugh :)
I've never enjoyed sketching so much. Thank you so much for making these videos. I've gone through a million videos but the ones you make always make sketching more interesting and simpler for me. I just really enjoy doing it now. Thanks!!!
I always thought the only things I can draw right are hands, but now I see I've been doing that wrong too lol. I usually just look at objects as a mess of lines and try following those lines, rather than shapes and maybe that's why my drawing sucks haha. Great video, really helped clear things up for me!
I loved drawing when I was young. Decades later I'm drawing again, but starting from scratch. Thanks for your informative videos. They're simple to follow and give me encouragement to continue drawing as a senior.
thank you so much for these videos! I feel like I have tried everything and nobody has really broken it down for me like you have. I have never drawn good but over these past few days with the help of practice and your videos I am slowly but surely getting better!
Brandon, when you sketched the shapes within the hand, that's when "the light turned on" for me...LOL! You are an awesome instructor and I thank you so, so much for sharing your talent with us. Back to the sketch pad for me! Cheers
The best part is how over 1 million viewers first episode, then 800k less next episode, then 200k less third episode. If you can't even manage to watch 4 youtube videos and do the work asked in each one, don't be upset if you're not doing speed paintings with ease lazyasses LOL. Excellent videos SchaeferARt
THIS. I saw exactly the same. I always painted with short lines and I didn't know it was called sketching and with every video I learn a lot. I actually started liking my crappy sketches.
Just because they have less views doesn't mean they all quit. Most could have gone to another series and just didn't want to stick to this one. People probably just reccomend the first video a lot since it is a very great intro to drawing.
Following your tutorial, I tried sketching a hand starting with basic shapes. I can't believe it worked so well -- the thumb looks odd but the hand turned out so much better than I anticipated.
Awesome! I have never ever even thought about drawing my own hand. I just tried it and it came out very good. I have not drawn since school... 25 years ago. You are a great teacher. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
thank you so very much, I went from drawing stick figures to being able to draw a curtain, ha ha, it's a start and I hope I can improve. I know these videos are not new but I appreciate you sharing your knowledge, thanks =)
I love this channel. Your way of explaining is so down-to-earth, warm, relaxed, relatable, attainable. The way you present the lessons, the words you use, actually applies to so much more about life aspects. Watching and listening to your videos are almost meditative and inspiring. Thank you.
Good teachers like you are rare these days. most of them just want money and they doesn't even care a thing about what they are teaching. really grateful for this! *subbed*
Thank you so much for your free instructions. I am going on 75 in June and am trying to learn how to sketch and draw. Since I am retired living on limited means, being able to learn for free is so helpful. Thank you again for your generosity. God bless!
When drawing random objects around the house, for example. I've been practicing on a wooden spoon. is it good practice to draw in the Oval shape than the cylinder(handle portion) like actual complete shapes and just connecting them? sorry if you don't understand my question trying to fund a way good way to put in words haha
+Paul Berber The oval can actually be broken down more to a circle and two triangles, if that's easier. But yes, this technique will come in handy when you start to draw people and animals.
Let's do nothing for a moment and start thanking him for doing such a phenomenal job for helping us all out and asking nothing in return... Just classic old UA-cam
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THOSE VIDEOS! Even thought I just watched 2 vids. I am so happy that you made them. I used to cry a lot and be mad because everytime I draw something. It looks like a sh**. And I used to think that drawing these simple stuff are boring and stuff. But it's actually really helpfull to understand the shapes, shadows and other things. Hopefully one day I get better even thought now I'm 13. Please continue making them! Love this channel!!!!! ❤❤❤❤✌👊
Thank you for providing a no BS platform for people to learn or re-learn drawing, especially these videos - breaking it down to the very essentials. Awesome videos - I greatly appreciate it!
I really like the simple assignments to build up to being able to draw something I’m interested in. I’m really trying to look at the world around me in basic shapes so I can draw something I’m proud of
I self taught myself how to draw.. I'm far from the best. they never taught us this in school and these things frustrated me because I didn't have the knowledge...
Neasia Rhynes same. My school introduced us to the basics but never gave us projects where we could use them. Just had us either sculpt or copy another artist to “learn” from them. None of us did

gotta learn to sketch before trying your hand at realism anyways.

There's a lot of art like that. You don't need to go for realism. Dr Seuss didn't, and he's still pretty damn famous to this day.

Love Brandon's attitude and demeanor...so encouraging.
God : 7 days to create humans
"Basically , it's just a cylinder"
7 days to create the world*: he created humans on the seventh day, the other days he created time, weather, geology, animals and a bunch of other things, but your comment made me actually laugh :)
i'm dying
@@lebottle9485 *activates nerd mode * _well actually_ He took 6 days to create everything, then He rested on the 7th.
@@wlll1235 oh yes, im a dumbass lmao
@@lebottle9485 I mean you believe in god, so yea... But we knew that anyway
I've never enjoyed sketching so much. Thank you so much for making these videos. I've gone through a million videos but the ones you make always make sketching more interesting and simpler for me. I just really enjoy doing it now. Thanks!!!
Glad you like them!
I finally drew a decent looking thumb thanks to this video! Just him saying to look at my hand, try, and draw, and I did it! Thanks a bunch!!
MentalTilt But that's the case with every video series on this entire platform.
Most of us see this at 3 am, then go to sleep and never come back, I have come back :v
@Anaconda Complex Same here
Following your tutorial, I tried sketching a hand starting with basic shapes.
No problem, glad it worked out for you. Keep going and have fun!
Follow the curvituer of the sphere... So deep!
Follow this guy
You are the best teacher in history
I start my sketching by watching your video!
I love how you tell us about the basic shades
thank you so very much, I went from drawing stick figures to being able to draw a curtain, ha ha, it's a start and I hope I can improve. I know these videos are not new but I appreciate you sharing your knowledge, thanks =)
Wow😍. Your skills must be good. You also are so sweet to comment for thanks
You've made me believe that I can actually draw! Thank you!!
Jacqueline Peters are you winning son?
I definitely saw Doge at the end there.
John Carlo Cagas uuugghhhaaAAAAH! I see it too.
When I'm on acid lol
I love this channel. Your way of explaining is so down-to-earth, warm, relaxed, relatable, attainable. The way you present the lessons, the words you use, actually applies to so much more about life aspects. Watching and listening to your videos are almost meditative and inspiring. Thank you.
Good teachers like you are rare these days. most of them just want money and they doesn't even care a thing about what they are teaching. really grateful for this! *subbed*
College got me busy but i'm finally back here on the second vid to learn how to draw!
1:22 *in this video it's about breaking down*
Thank you so much for your free instructions. I am going on 75 in June and am trying to learn how to sketch and draw. Since I am retired living on limited means, being able to learn for free is so helpful. Thank you again for your generosity. God bless!
Glad to hear. Have fun and enjoy it 😊
8 years and this guy is still hearting comments, respect!
your drawing tutorials are also awesome, double respect for that.
When you're able to draw a hand without it looking like a bunch of sausages stuck to a circle
Damn! I learned so much stuff just from the first episode.right now I am trying to make a triangular prism.
You have such a calm, soothing voice and manner about you. It's so very conducive to a relaxing way of learning.
Now thats a complment

No problem :) Hope the drawing is going well. Have fun with it.
@@SchaeferArt I sure will! Thanks to your help :)

Thank you for providing a no BS platform for people to learn or re-learn drawing, especially these videos - breaking it down to the very essentials. Awesome videos - I greatly appreciate it!
No problem :) Glad they are helpful for you
Idk why but nothing ever stuck with me when it came to drawing. You helped me focus a lot. Idk how. So thank you. I appreciate you and these videos.
I hope I can do it also❤️
You can :)

I really like the simple assignments to build up to being able to draw something I’m interested in. I’m really trying to look at the world around me in basic shapes so I can draw something I’m proud of
I just found this video series, and I wanted to let you know how exceptional you are as a teacher. Well done, sir!
Thank you, much appreciated!
