C2 with a modernized 427 big block, 6 speed Tremec transmission, all new suspension, wheels and tires, rack and pinion steering(they had reciprocating ball steering), new heater core and A/C unit but I would keep it looking like a C2 inside and out. Basically turn it into a modernized version of what it was, an incredibly sexy gt car

1969 Ford Torino GT with a twin turbo 5.0 Coyote and a Shelby gt350 Mustang suspension fitted underneath and the latest infotainment system and a very modern interior. Or a 1973-1977 Ford f250 4x4 (highboy) with a 12 valve Cummins and a 6 speed transmission with Dana 60 axles front and rear n 35 inch tall tires.
My classic retro mode car would have to be a 1958 Plymouth Fury with a Hell Cat engine, upgraded brakes and suspension with magnaflow exhaust.
my retro car mod would be a mid 90's s14 crammed full of all the goodies from an r35 gtr.
I'd build a 1973 E9 3.0 CS BMW with the E46 straight six with a proper exhaust and cam tune up to increase the redline. Naturally a 6 speed manual and the body would be stock but look brand new, probably black with white pinstriping.

A black or white 1969 Mustang Boss 429. Engine swap for Ford's 6.2 liter modular motor (found in Raptor), but bored and stroked to 429 cubic inches. (Yes, this is possible) Upgrade the suspension to Ford's magnetic ride and the infotainment to the latest Ford SYNC

I'm disappointed Derek. I was expecting you say Pontiac Solstice with LS2 V8 and 6 speed manual from the last gen GTO. Come on man that was the perfect alley oop and instead of drunk you played for a jump shot. Now that that's out the way, my dream retro build would be a 1953 Chevy Pickup upgraded with a 572cu engine and modern brakes and suspension.

#FLDQoftheD I'd go a very unusual route with the project car, I'd take a 1967/8 Pontiac Firebird without an engine and swap the twin-turbo V6 engine from the Caddy ATS-V, plus a 6 speed manual and full pro-touring suspension, Track Beast BRO!
88 240 sx + everything under the chasy from the GTR NISMO(2016)...it would be the fastist skyline ever...or a 1973 pontiac La'man with everything from the 2016 Z28 LT1...or a ford focus RS(2016) with all wheel drive and drop the moter and suspension package from the Mustang GT 350r with a twin turbocharger and 20-inch recaros with Brembo brakes...top that!!!!!!!

In 20 years I would take a 2016 Ford Fusion, convert it to a two door, convert it to RWD and drop a nascar V8 in there! Maybe give it some side exhaust. Or more realistically a Pontiac Firaro with either the engine of a Mercedes C250 or a honda Civic engine.
I know its cliché but throw the under pinnings from the GT350R into a late 60's Fastback.
