Aston Martin wants a lot of the technology in the new AM-RB 001 hypercar to influence future models, a new Lamborghini is POSSIBLY in the works, and an Autonomous McLaren? you know that race-line assist thingy you see on Forza and other race games, that coloured arrows on the road. It would be cool to see a full length HUD on the windscreen doing that when on a racetrack

The Asterion is so beautiful!! There was a few days ago a little movie by Lambo about the Miura called "the italian job" in which they show a prototype which looks like a modern day Miura which is beautiful.
Mea culpa, that is the Miura prototype which is at least 3 years old and which had the Murcielago engine. I think that they would be fools to not make that car as resto mods are incredibly popular at the moment.

Autonomous McLaren?! WTF, it's a CAR, get in it and DRIVE it! Or just sit in the clubhouse of your millionaire's condo racetrack and let the car drive around on it's own while you swill single malts.
#FLDQoftheD - Answering a question with a question - Wouldn't learning the track on Grand Turismo first be better? With that being said - I would agree to running the track and comparing the results by overlaying the preferred line coming from the PDR. Adding the autonomous features/equipment is an overkill and would add too much weight to the car.
Autonomous cars are such an amazing invention. They can take you wherever want while the passengers can play Pokemon Go all day. Three words: Efficient and Safe.
It would be a great idea if the autonomous McLaren lap included commentary from a professional race car driver as you go throughout the course. It could include things like braking zones, where to look, and other track specific considerations like bumps and when to throttle on/off.
Saw a Lambo SUV being tested about a month ago in Milan. It's on my IG @143automotive. Not 100% sure if it was this or a Urus though
BUT BUT BUT....I thought Ford said drifting in a Focus RS was so easy a grandma could do it. LOL
RE: Autonomous Driving. Maclaren gets is but Volvo gets it better with the Concept 26, IMO.
check out what audi has been doing with autonomous track cars, specifically cars "Bobby" and "Robby" I would totally take a couple laps in cars like that!
There was a demonstration with Jeremy Clarkson in a BMW 3 series testing out a fully automated computer driving hard around their test track.

Autonomous driving in a super car, seriously! Just by a ford pinto if you get no pleasure driving yourself. Where is the fun in having the car drive the perfect lap while you sit in the passenger seat with you imperfect skills
Hi Derek, the autonomous community is not looking to give us a button to switch to autonomous mode. They are fighting for the idea that autonomous mode is better than the manual mode. They are fighting for the idea that autonomous mode is safer than the manual mode. Ultimately, they want to replace manual with autonomous. So with data, they will win that battle hands down. That's what's going on.
Seems like anyone who's driving fords from a car meet just seems to keep doing it wrong. respectable cars, but inexperienced drivers
I thought autonomous cars needed a center line to keep the car crashing. Race tracks don't have center lines so how would that work. Maybe I'm wrong.
the second someone offers me the passenger seat of an autonomous supercar I am all in. I don't get what you guys are worried about, cars these days are very safe in collisions and tracks have lots of runoff. it'd be very hard for a computer to do worse than spinning out or understeering on a racetrack.
Honestly i could not trust autopilot on supercars just because there is a much greater chance for the car to screw up at high speeds and rough cornering. But if i am in the driver seat i might not mind it as much because i would be there to stop it of something were to go wrong. To me its just crazy how technology is making us lazier as time goes on.

Audi has been doing autonomous track runs for a long time now. Even Jay Leno took a ride once.
FLD was a real unique automotive channel, I still miss it in 2021.
