Humans are not carnivores, they are omnivores. Yes you eat meat but you also require fruit and vegetables to remain healthy. And simply because you grow your own does not automatically make it safe. There are diseases that farm animals can catch, even with the cleanest of homesteads. For example bird flu or hoof and mouth disease. Just as humans have contagious diseases that can affect even the healthiest and most hygienic people. I grew up on a farm and it is a balancing act to keep your livestock healthy, your land healthy and producing. If you are not growing your own hay and grain for your animals, then you are relying on food sources for them outside your control which can cause problems. When animal feed is recalled, which seems to be happening more and more, the animals who were eating it can become sick. Some of the illnesses livestock can pick up makes them unsafe for human or animal consumption. Yes raising your own livestock is not rocket science but it is not always safe and if one is not careful, they or you can contaminate the water making people and animals sick with bacterial infections.

Why do people shop at Walmart. I shop at our local grocery store that is only in my state. It’s nice because they have a meat counter and you pick your meat not prepackaged not marinated just a meat counter. I don’t shop at Walmart or Target or any other big supermarkets.

After being in a trash can til the following morning, it was discovered as having exploded, absolutely full of maggots! A hole was also blown in the can bottom. The last 3 we bought had to be tossed or returned due to taste or leathery texture. Beware! Coming from Idaho!

Listeria is why you never feed fresh cut hay. It's in the soil which can get kicked up into the hay during raking/tethering. The hay needs to age (bacteria dies) before feeding.
Maybe hiring those who can't speak good english would indicate they can't understand it well either. So, when it comes time to process the foods, mistakes are made. I see it in construction all the time. Failure to communicate.

Don’t worry, lucky for us the bugs 🐞 are completely safe to eat folks. Not safe to eat the meat, veggies, fruit or breads. Seems to be what they want for us all.

Why do people shop at Walmart. I shop at our local grocery store that is only in my state. It’s nice because they have a meat counter and you pick your meat not prepackaged not marinated just a meat counter.
I don’t shop at Walmart or Target or any other big supermarkets.
For some that's all they have in walking distance, or what they can barely afford. We all do what we can.
I'm on a fixed income and I buy most things at Walmart EXCEPT meat. I learned years ago they tend to have horrible food handling practices in the meat department.

Thanks for the report. Nothing in the northwest that I am aware of. Watermelons are a severe risk right now. One purchased recently had a Mellon with foaming liquid jetting out. After being in a trash can til the following morning, it was discovered as having exploded, absolutely full of maggots! A hole was also blown in the can bottom. The last 3 we bought had to be tossed or returned due to taste or leathery texture. Beware! Coming from Idaho!

I miss Subway and eating deli meat sandwiches but after finding out what all is in them including the freaking bread I had to stop. My gut thanks me. It's like you have to be a soldier to shop at the grocery store anymore. I'm about to just start ordering everything. Or go straight to the farm. Maybe start planting...

I try not to eat anything that's packaged.
Listeria is why you never feed fresh cut hay. It's in the soil which can get kicked up into the hay during raking/tethering. The hay needs to age (bacteria dies) before feeding.
Maybe hiring those who can't speak good english would indicate they can't understand it well either. So, when it comes time to process the foods, mistakes are made. I see it in construction all the time. Failure to communicate.
