- Review of the Avon C50 Gas Mask/Respirator.
The C50 is the 40mm NATO version of the Avon M50 mask.
The M50 used dual proprietary slim films where as the C50 uses the standard 40mm STANAG filters meaning it is far better for a civilian as you can source new filters for it very easily.
The C50 does have it's own specially shaped 40mm filter that I do not have at the time of filming this video, that specific filter helps to cut down the bulk even more.
Overall the C50 is probably one of my favourite masks, due to it's versatility and comfort, it fits well with helmets and shouldering rifles.

A timely review! In the US at least Avon has actually started to sell directly to civilians. I'm planning on adding their mask to my fighting kit in the future.
Ah cool, I know here as well there are a couple of masks they sell commercially rather than in bulk to police, military, industry etc.
If I remember right they're very expensive though so I'd rather wait until I can get one second hand to review.

Edit: me and my older brother have just recently went and grabbed some of the Israeli masks, thank you for all of your research and work it is much appreciated.
Glad you liked it, was it the 4a1 or the M15? Either are good but yeah need to find where my Israeli masks are stored, probably in a plastic storage crate somewhere.
@@Weaponsandstuff93 pretty sure it's the M15, it has the external eye glass inserts or what you would call those. Got it off of a guy at the market that was refinishing axes and knives of all things, wasn't expecting him to have surplus gear but we ended up getting 2 military gas cans and a couple ammo crates off him for a real good deal. I think all together was like $80 us. For about seven items.

Good video mate, I was issued a C50 as an upgrade from my CT12.
The C50 is a great mask and provides comfort for extended wear but it certainly protrudes more than the C50 and is a tad heavier.
The trade off being the panoramic visor.
I assume you mean lol it protrudes more than the CT12 etc.
But yeah I still really like the FM12/CT12 or the Swedish Forsheda F2 A4 as those are really good slimline and lightweight masks for the quality.
@Weaponsandstuff93 haha yes protrudes more than the C50.
The Avon slimline filters are great but don't last as long against CS as some of the bulkier filter options available.
But fit nicely under the Argus helmet visor.

Pretty thorough review. I'm current US military and I've been looking at the C50 for once I separate. The US still issues the Avon M50, but I like the idea of not needing proprietary filters. One question, however: does the C50 have the same prescription lens insert slots behind the visor? I have several for my M50, so it negates needing to wear prescription glasses underneath the mask. I imagine it does, but I can't seem to locate that information on Avon's website.

Cheers and yeah did have an M50 and traded it, basically the exact same mask just with those nice slim filters, sadly here could never find any new/newish filters for sale so didn't get much use from the mask.
Nice mask, got one a couple years ago from a UK based surplus seller on eBay, they've run out of them now but I have the mask, the bag and the manual. Outserts are really hard to find in my experience, I'm looking for one too
A while ago M50 outserts were actually quite common but all seem to have sold and been kept now.

Maaan id actually would save up to get one but over 300 is too much for me i only need it as a cool co p2 mask
Hi! What is your recommended gas mask for every scenario? Like the one you would personally use.
Avon FM12 style masks are still one of my favourites for not being stupidly expensive and taking standard 40mm filters.
But as I reviewed recently those decent quality Chinese masks that can use either 3M or 40mm filters are pretty damn good for $40 each.

I know it's been some time since it happened but it would be cool to do a video on the East Palestine train spill , and the types of masks and filters that would have been effective for it. Just an idea.
