Thanks. Yes the various skin problems or active nerves stuff as I used to call it could be really debilitating for me and I was amazed when it went away because it was one of the most persistent things I dealt with for years.
Hell, I forget every day. The only thing I don’t forget anymore is the abuse that I get to keep enduring and I lost my kids. You’re so good at what you do I am grateful for your videos. I think my biggest issue is confidence in myself.
I am a clear case where an acute adverse reaction that was very real got prolonged in time, then it healed over time. Surprisingly, or maybe not so, my symptoms evolved into something else. As in the mind needed something to be “wrong” with the body. I am applying the body mind approach and have already seen some success. I use somatic tracking, reassurance and getting back to life!
Yes, sounds like you're talking about the symptom imperative in your first paragraph there. It's very common. I experienced that as well. Anyway I'm happy to hear that you're seeing some success with this approach!
I'm tapering and it's horrific and will take me years. All mental symptoms. How can this work for me? Mine is all perceptual and visual dissociation stuff
Hi, it depends on the specifics of your situation. For myself I slowly tapered and had all sorts of problems which I presumed might be coming from the taper itself and yet as I applied this approach the sensations went away. The remainder of the taper was free of withdrawal sensations. I made a video about that: ua-cam.com/video/Vf5vmR20r48/v-deo.html. As for the visual stuff you're experiencing, if you've been checked out by a physician and nothing is found wrong, then it's possible sensations like that can possibly begin with withdrawal and then are maintained by psychological stress. The fear and the reasons a person might be fearful in their life can maintain them. The same approach that I talk about on this channel applies regardless of sensations (again assuming nothing is found wrong) because the psychological basis is the same. But I think it's up to each person to decide for themselves whether sort of model makes sense to them personally because there a number of factors to consider and I'm just giving some general information because again I don't really know the specifics of your situation.
@@gustavtms the fear of my symptoms I think is making them more entrenched. I am constantly assuming the worst so it was encouraging to read what you said about the brain anticipating bad. So it's possible that as I taper down, and I notice the brain fog, DR and confusion/ visual perception is getting more difficult that it could possibly be ameliorated by repeating to myself that I'm safe and it doesn't matter what I see or feel? It sounds like that's what you did. My biggest fear is losing my mind, but it doesn't serve me to think that way all of the time. I really appreciate your perspective and the friend who shared your video with me. Please make more videos--especially about mental symptoms. God bless you!
Hi, that is in part what I did, but there was a powerful understanding behind it as I conceptualized my experience as part of The Mindbody Syndrome (TMS). If you're interested in the approach I used you may wish to listen to John Sarno's Healing Back Pain or watch Sarno's lecture (both of which I have here on my channel). There is also Howard Schubiner's book Unlearn Your Pain that gives a bit more of a "'program" with more of a scientific basis and Steven Ozanich's The Great Pain Deception, which takes the psychological concepts further. These resources all reference pain but these are the concepts I used to resolve protracted withdrawal sensations (and chronic pain as I also experienced that). But people have used to concepts to resolve all sorts of otherwise medically unexplainable things like chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, Long COVID without tissue damage, and so on. If the problems you're experiencing are adverse drug effects from being on drugs then if you taper very slowly and the effects get worse then you might ask why would that make sense? And if you have trouble making sense of it then these concepts may apply. Yes, that is a good idea to make a video on the various mental sensations that people experience as I had some of the those as well.
Hi Gustav, I kindled and have protracted withdrawal from an SSRI, will your principles work with SSRI? Could I have TMS? Do you know anyone that was on SSRI that has succeeded with the mind body approach? Thank you
Hi, yes, I felt things like that. And to answer your other comment, yes, I was on psychiatric drugs for years and I came off them in a matter of weeks and then took them again and slowly tapered them. I continued to experience withdrawal sensations for years (while tapering) until this approach ultimately resolved them for me.
Yes, there can be epigenetic changes from being on drugs for years, however the human body has a miraculous way of healing itself. A heroin addict can use multiple times daily for decades and still come off the drug (often cold-turkey). In regards to antidepressants, a whopping 50% of people who go cold-turkey will experience exactly the same withdrawal intensity as people who taper off the drugs in the span of about a month.
@@amberfrazier9516 I'm not a doctor and don't know the specifics of your situation, so I can't say. But, the thing I've learned with tapering psychiatric medications is to go at a pace that your body is comfortable with.
Im really sorry man, I am sure you mean well, but I think you should be really careful with what you tell people because you honestly dont have a clue what you are talking about here. Of course it helps and there is nothing new with the approache of radical acceptance which kinda overlaps to what you are talking about. But please do not propose that people are in some way at the core responsible for there own symptoms because that utter complete bullshit in this case. And no, you dont "forget away" the symptoms, the symptoms simple dissipate over time and you forget about them.
