      Hey John!
      I was so happy to get (2) consecutive flight on this Jet....a first for me ;-)
      I think it will be a decent practice Jet but definitely a pass on buying this one.

    A shame. A T-33 with it's straight wing should be a great flier.
    Looks like you got too slow when it stalled. Gotta stay on the throttle with EDFs. Very different from prop flight, as they don't have a high thrust propeller up front to pull it out of trouble spots.
    Maybe skids like the F-16? Even a real T-33 would shed it's legs landing on a dirt runway.
    Happy flying!

    • @GroundControlRC
      @GroundControlRC  2 роки тому

      Hehehe...actually, I meant to stall it at the top to see how stable it was as referenced in the video ;-)
      EDFs are very similar to other planes except they require better throttle management because you don't have that instant response.
      The Eachine F16 and the Viper will both happily float over the top when stalled during a climb, rolled over, and dropped through the top.
      I perform this maneuver with most of my planes, including EDF Jets, to see how stable they are in that type of stall condition.
      This one unfortunately, loses all control when performing that type of stall.
      If it hadn't been for safe mode it would have been in the dirt.
      Yeah, there are some things prop planes can do that EDFs can't and some things EDFs can do that prop planes can't ;-)
      You can't assume you have to keep up the throttle and speed on EDFs as some you do and some you don't.
      Maybe you've seem me do high-alpha with the F16 ;-)

    Fly’s Perfect now I’ve cut the cheat holes underneath where the finger grips are. 4s 1300 - 2200 lipo, little slower on 2200 but much longer flight time. Throttle set to 75%
    No Gyro fitted but I do get a friend to launch it.

      I'm going to have to add those additional air inlets to mine.
      I was amazed at what a different that 3S+ Power provided for these EDF Jets.
      I did not expect the difference in power to be so much.

    Good thing you like modifying and tuning, I would have abandon that plane a couple of crashes ago. Honestly it doesn't look like it will ever be a great flier, just a marginal plane. Still something learned from it.

    • @GroundControlRC
      @GroundControlRC  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Jack!
      You're right, this one is a pass.
      Now I know why this one has a gyro and the viper doesn't.
      I almost didn't repair it after the last failed launch but I'm stubborn ;-)
      I'm going to use it as another practice plane and if I crash it oh well ;-)
      It's kind of fun flying something where you really don't care if you crash it...hehehe

    • @GroundControlRC
      @GroundControlRC  2 роки тому

      Hi Craig!
      This one has the Vector Gyro in it and it's pretty good, in that it provides a very good parachute ;-)
      I had to use it in this video to save this Jet.
      This Jet is definitely a Lemon but I'm going to try and turn it into Lemonade somehow ;-)
      I will be putting one of the Byme-A Gyros in the F-16 and Viper as I'd really hate to lose one of those because I did something stupid or just ran out of talent ;-)
      Those (2) EDF Jets are fantastic.

    The same happens with mine. On take off the gyro is too sensitive and made me crash twice

    • @GroundControlRC
      @GroundControlRC  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Victor!
      That's a shame isn't it.
      It works well for launch, in Safe Mode, but it's too sensitive in flight and fights me in the turns.
      I'll have to test dynamic mode next time out.

    This one in particular needs flaps installed. Or if you are concerned with weight try programming flapperons(sp) in the radio, worth a try at least. 😁

    • @GroundControlRC
      @GroundControlRC  2 роки тому

      I do agree this and many planes would benefit from flaps or even flaperons.
      I do like to work on one variable at a time though and this one has so many variables ;-)
      I've found, after working in Information Technology for over 18 years, the best problem solving method is "Divide & Conquer".
      Solve the big problems first (1 variable at a time), then work on the smaller one.

    • @GroundControlRC
      @GroundControlRC  2 роки тому

      @@CrstnJdiKnight Yes, and this one has been a problem child ;-)
      I think I'm close on the setup and then I will definitely test out programming flaperons on this one to slow it down.
      I have some 40A ESCs on order so I'm hoping more power will enable me to install flaps on down the road with enough additional thrust to offset the additional weight of the flap servos, control horns, and linkage.

      Hey Jono!
      I so wanted this to be a great Jet as I love the look of the T-33 Airframe but this one is like flying a Dump Truck with a wobbly wheel ;-)
      If safe mode had not worked it was going in the dirt....again!
      Now I know why the Viper has no Gyro and this one does....it definitely needs one.
      Oh well, it's nice to have a practice Jet you don't mind crashing...hehehe.
      We'll see how long it keeps flying.

      @@GroundControlRC "Dump Truck" with it being the heaviest of the Arrows 50s its most likely a wing loading issue. If it gets more banged up and you have to reconstruct it, maybe consider somekind of weight saving, say ditching the wingtip tanks making it look more like the early P-80 prototypes.

      Hi Dave!
      Yeah, I gave a pass on this one for anyone that was interested in it.
      I've heard the hawk is good and the marlin is even better but it's a 64mm EDF if I remember correctly.
      Hopefully I'll be able to pickup another EDF next year but I'd really like to find just the airframes and pick my own electronics.
      That way I can have it setup for 4S right from the start.
