- Did you know the best skins are made with architectural 3M wraps? If your skin has a gold 3M logo on it, you're golden, if not, well, your mileage might vary. We didn't know that before doing this video!
Out of the 8 different brands, Val and I were most impressed with the products from Phantom Skinz and Toast Skins. The wood skins from Toast is just awesome and Phantom Skinz had the best quality selection and installation tools.

We ranked the skins across 6 different criteria involve installation, coverage, impact and scratch resistance, # of designs and overall quality.
When it comes to skins, we felt that giving companies that put the effort to make sure their skins go on properly deserved to be recognized. Unlike other iPhone accessories, skins are quite particular when it comes to install.
As mentioned before, the quality of the product (gold 3M logo!) also effected the install process.
For coverage, the best were the products that were covered the edges and were one piece. Some of the lower ranked brands only came with back skins which minimizes any sort of protection the product might offer your device.
Impact and scratch testing was done using a force meter and Moh's picks. Oddly enough, the thicker skins didn't necessarily result in better impact protection.

Thank you for calling out slick wraps, my skin did not arrive from them as well and was told to wait 20-45 business day to Australia due to Covid. I emailed again after 45 business days and they didn't bother responding till after another 2 emails were sent and I opening a case with PayPal. I was fed up with the poor customer service and just waited for PayPal to step in which they refunded me as slickwraps policy wouldn't refund for an item even though it never arrived.
@Nishimoto 61_60 i thought it was just me but others in the comments have had similar experiences :(( i really hope yours does arrive.. also their constant “discount” promotion that is on everyday is so scammy (i’m pretty sure they’re not allowed to do that)
I did finally get my apple pencil skin from SlickWraps a few weeks late, and they're pretty bad. I went with SlickWraps because DBrand only had one design. You didn't miss out on much not getting a slickwrap.
Wish I read this before my purchase... Mine didn't arrive for 3 weeks and when it did, it was damaged. Asked for an exchange or refund (I am entitled to it under UK law) but the seller keeps ignoring my requests. The customer service is non-existent and it's terrible. I would not recommend this company.
In a day and age of UA-cam influencers receiving products from companies in exchange for favourable reviews, it's a breath of fresh air when reviewers such as this channel spend their own money and give their honest opinions on products as if to put themselves in the consumer's shoes. Well done and I wish every influencer was like this.

I know that DBrand is pretty much the BIGGEST company for skins right now but a lot of the other smaller companies do a great job as well, for a fraction of the cost. Not to bag DBrand out or anything but some of their skins are a bit overpriced.
They don't hide it.
They just removed segment customisation and their solution for anyone who still wants to mix and match is to just buy three different skins and throw out whatever you don't use, so that's what brought me here.

Best one is the Nomad leather skin. You guys missed the best one. Provides some much appreciated traction when holding, gives it some protection over a plastic skin, and just is nice.

I enjoy the thoroughness, grading criteria, and scientific approach to everything you do. However I find it very difficult to follow which product is which because you’re constantly jumping around, and cross comparing multiple products. I think if you had the brand name, or packaging in the corner of each shot it would help a lot. This applies to pretty much every video of yours. Keep up the hard work!

I have to commend the degree of precision and care put into the execution of this video. Usually UA-camrs opt to exclusively impose their subjective opinions on a particular product, but this video offers a far more scientific analysis of the items at hand, which helps to eliminate subconscious bias in selecting the best made skin. I came here specifically to see where fishskyn landed, I seen a really pretty skin but wanted to see a review first. I read on their website someone said the packaging was horrible and their skin came wrinkled, this tipped the scale, thank u for the video

I bought the clear skin from slickwraps, comes with a solution to stick it together but the matte version is just stick on (I used that version for my iPhone 11 Pro and that was horrible). It’s really good but they are very slow. Sides come separate as well as the iPhone 12 Pro camera cut out bit. I’m in the uk and it took 2 months to come! A follow up email to them for an update a month later took them 2 weeks to respond too.

I’d add one thing. I had put a toast wooden skin on my phone a while back. Left it on for almost a year. Finally decided that I wanted a change. That thing was the WORST to get off! So bad I never went back to their products.

Ja, funny video, but true. I used to buy slicks wraps skin, but it looks like the skins are shipped from Mars, it takes for ever to arrive. The fastest one for me is always SopiGuard (not sure why was not included)

I usually do skins because I wear scrubs at work and need something to keep in from slipping out of my pocket...it would've been nice to know which one had the best level of grip to it.

Very informative and entertaining. BUT... which skins are grippy (most grippy, grippiest?)? I choose TPU/silicone cases that have some moderate to high grip quality, so the phone doesn't slip out of my hands easily. Your guidance, please!

Definitely agree, Dbrand is fantastic in that regard. Once messed up my skin in the slightest way possible and emailed to ask for advice, they just up and sent me a new one free of charge

I bought a toast wood skin for $49. The verdict: they won’t protect your phone and they are more of a burden. I live in an area where temperatures are above 90 degree in the summer and if I were to leave my phone out for too long or if it will get wet it will get ruined due to the 3m tape. I would just buy a case.

I just find skins to be too rough and jagged on the 12 and 13 series iPhones. This was present back when the 5s was out also. The rounded body was a lot better for skins. The square edges just don’t let the skin feel smooth when gripping the phone.
Do these stop magsafe from working?

I did order from them 2 years ago and got it instantly... My guess is that their huge abundance of sales and price drops was actually a sign company failure.

Is it just me or wraps on the iPhone 12 Pro seem to always come off due to the matte texture? I’ve tried the worst, slickwraps, then sopiguard, worse, and dbrand, best so far.
Believe it or not, EZ Skins are also good. A little overpriced but they do last and the texture on the skin makes it easier to grip.
