Thats not quite true though, really rigid materials like glass will transmit the force straight to the screen, flexible materials will deflect and absorb the impact.

my first time watching your channel. not only did you help me get the best screen protector for my new iphone 12 pro max but you helped me decide what dog to get... your dog is so adorable how quiet and calm he/she is.
Clutz here. I have a CaseKoo screen protector. It lasted over a year before cracking. BUT the oleophobic attribute is AMAZING!!! Still going strong in May when December’s end was a year.
Another crucial spec should be tested is the light transmission rate, so with the screen protector on the color and brightness should still be consistent.
I’m gonna make an educated guess here and say that total transmittance for all of these products is greater than 90%, so you probably wouldn’t notice a difference if you tried
@@aidanf2610 Nothing about your guess is educated. There are big differences that become apparent in direct sunlight. Belkin has by far the best transmission rate hence why Apple only stocks those in store.
I always come back here, no matter how long the gap in between purchases and TBH, I pop by in between to keep up to date. You’re the only one I fully trust - many thanks 👍🏼
Great, thorough review as always. I’ve previously used Zagg and Belkin, but for the iPhone 12 pro got the Flolab screen protector using your code. Definitely easiest to install and so far my favorite. Had no idea about the oleophobic coating wearing off and really liked the way you demonstrated that!
hey ! flolab seems to have 4 different protectors for the iphone 12. which one did you get ? (and do you know the difference between each of them? it doesn’t seem entirely clear on the website)
@@supermulticouloured Yea their website is a little confusing. I got this one flolab.io/collections/iphone-12-pro-screen-protectors/products/iphone-12-pro-screen-protector. I think the other versions include one that is anti-glare, and a version that is U-shaped at the top and doesn’t cover the notch on the iPhone. I think there is also one version that is more “case friendly” i.e. it doesn’t have the black edges. But I’ve used mine with an Apple MagSafe silicone case and a Belkin case and haven’t had any issues. Hope that helps!
A dude at Canada Computers told me to run a shower for 5 min before installing. Just tried it with the Zagg, not one piece of dust. Also, reviews say the Zagg is too small for the iPhone 12, but it overlaps the screen no problem, just doesn’t go to the edge of the phone itself. Great video, very helpful!
After watching the video, I bought Glass Screen Protector Dustproof CORTUTOL, which is easy to install and remove. The quality is very good and worthy of recommendation, perfect!
The review I was waiting for! Been using the Mous Hybrid glass for my iphone 11 for over a year. No cracks no scratches. Tried a whole bunch of different screen protectors for the previous iphone 10 as they kept cracking after a few weeks/months. In my clumsy way of handling, I need impact protection over scratch resistance so the Mous Hybrid wins it for me. Only downside is on the 11, it was kinda small, edges weren’t tapered and didn’t reach all the way to the edge of the phone. But I eventually got used to it. Oh and give Val a raise! Great research work and editing!
You just gained a new follower ! This test is amazingly methodical. No « I think » just tests and obzervations ! Wow did you do the same thing for cases ?
A nice way to prevent dust from going back on the screen during installation is to use an antistatic mat, type Bergeon, something from the watchmaking world. I found it pretty practical on a wooden table with as few cloths as possible around and while using finger cots.
Wow, this is the type of review video I was hoping to find… and it was so much more! Even though it’s almost 2 yrs old, still relevant. Great job! Thanks for your hard work!!
I always run a shower for about five minutes then go to the bathroom and apply a screen protector to your my phone. The humidity in the air takes out all the dust, I have never had a piece of dust underneath a screen protector ever.
That makes sense. Generally you want to avoid applying when the ambient air conditions are too dry which can cause static electricity and attract dust particles like magnets.
I would like to see a combo video of screen protector and phone case ranking. Mix and match for different brands to optimise all round protection or use to same brand for fitting issues?
One company I’ve found had a surprisingly AMAZING installation was actually the Walmart black web brand, it’s all built into the packaging so you open the box put your phone in (cleaned of course) peel of the sticker off and close the box and it lungs everything up perfectly, AND it had an amazingly huge dust sticker
Thank you for your advice and testing! Got the Flolab (through your link, of course). It took a few days to arrive but it was so worth it! You are right about the ease of installation. I love this screen protector.
Every time I search anything iphone, I always go back to you guys' channel. You always have the best and most informative videos. Thanks for the great info!
I have the Shellrus Sapphire Screen Protector installed and it’s not noticeable at all! It’s a perfect fit. Ceramic Shield screen for maximum shatter resistance and Sapphire screen for maximum scratch resistance. Extremely happy. Happy I discovered your channel bro!
I installed 2 of the FloLab Nano Armor screen protectors on my new 2 iphone 12 Pro Max. With the help of the installation tray it when on perfect the first time. Also no problems with the Mous Limitless 3.0 and Clarity cases for iphone 12 max that you previously reviewed. The FloLab screen protectors fit edge to edge with no issue on Mous cases. Yes your discount code still works. Great reviews. Thanks.
Hi you probably get thousands of comments each day so you probably won’t even see this but I’m an 18 year old girl with no knowledge about tech. Your honest vids taught me so much about which products to buy, what to look out for etc. I usually don’t leave comments on videos so this is a little new and slightly cringe for me but I just wanted to genuinely thank you for all your help. I really admire your integrity and how you describe yourself as a reviewer, not an influencer. I honestly wanted to just thank you and tell you that I appreciate your videos! Hope this wasn’t too cringy haha😂 please keep making awesome videos!!

Add fingerprint & glare resistance and clarity testing. I would also like to see the same barrage of test on the privacy versions of Shellrus and others if possible. Thanx and great videos 👍
Thanks for the review! The link for the Flolab Nanoarmour is for the main site where I can see several different screenprotector options, Which one specifically was reviewed/recommened in the video? thanks
For the most trustworthy reviews, I come here. Before buying any tech product or accessory, I look to see if you have a video about it first. Thank you, and keep up the great work!
Thank you for the video. I purchased the Flolab on your recommendation, but was disappointed. I had my screen protector for 4 days when it broke and cracked without major incident. No drop, no forceful scratch. I did register my screen for warranty and was asked to pay the $8 in shipping to replace the screen. I can't keep paying $8 every 4 days because the screen is breaking for no reason? I'm really disappointed in Flolab's customer service. I'll be purchasing a screen from another brand in your video.
same here ,,,, had my 2nd flolab (1st cracked after 1 month- replace under warranty) installed on my XS MAx ,,, 30 minutes later dropped it and cracked immediatelly . no more FLOLAB for me
Same here.not trust flolab! Easily crack! I had claimed a wrrnty n paid 8$ but issue crack still happen.dont waste money n get other brand that is more durability
You guys are the most thorough channel for testing I've seen for cases and screen protectors. You def have the method down. My only criticism is that you only do iPhones. Yes you can find similar products for the popular Android devices, but some companies don't even touch some Android devices. If y'all were able to somehow expand to the most popular Android devices, that would be a big help. Otherwise, keep doing what you're doing!
Thank you both for spending your hard earned money and time to have unbiased reviews! Just bought the flolab you recommended using your link and discount code!
Excellent review. Which is the one that reaches closest to the edge of the screen? I don’t use iPhone cases, so I’m looking for one that is actually “edge to edge” protection. Thanks in advance!
Probably because they advertise it as water resistance, and not necessarily oil resistance. The chances of oil droplets falling on your screen for the average user vs water droplets is pretty low.
The trick for dust is compressed air. If you have an alignment frame for applying it you can line up the protector then before letting it down onto the screen use the compressed air to blow away any dust and then plop the protector down.
Great detailed video! What would be the rankings in terms of value? Price to performance on individual screen protector would be an interesting thing to see especially as some of these come in packs or 2 or 3.
I took your recommendation a year ago and got the FLOLAB. I put this on some gravel and accidents pushed on the phone as I was getting up. I small pointed rock made a puncture mark in my screen protector and very thin lines radiated from the puncture. It looked to me like the cracks were in the phone glass, but to my surprise and the Geek Squad my screen was perfect! He asked what screen protector I used and I said FLOLAB it is the best for klutchs like me. Thanks for the great advice. Saved me $329.00
Only if you’re shooting in “selfie mode”. The default view will use the lenses on back of phone, and the flipped-to-selfie view will use the front of phone lens, which yes, probably has some haze from any screen protector.
Very comprehensive breakdown of these screen protectors 🤩👍. It’s great that you highlighted that trade off between scratch resistance and impact/crack resistance. I think we need to ask all of these companies to include larger dust removal stickers. Monty’s looking too cool for school with his shades 😎🐶.
I’m from Sri Lanka. Not have so much of money to support you. But the work you do is so unique. Appreciate your effort and the quality of your content. Already subscribed. And it’s not boring to watch your videos. 😇😇
I think shellus is probably the best one here, when my screen protector breaks, I usually replace it the same day or few days after. So once it’s cracked, it doesn’t matter if the other area gets cracked as well. But it’s cooling and scratch resistance is more appealing.
I don't have an iPhone but this video still helped me IMMENSELY in deciding which screen protector to buy. I spent the last two days reading about it, looking at Amazon reviews, etc and I almost despaired over it to the point where i thought "f it, i go blank". But now I'm comfortable to buy the Zegg product and I can finally focus on other things. Thank you guys to much!
Dude I really like the format with charts and all, but your summary or concluding chart seems completely bonkers, in that it does not follow the previous chart scores whatsoever - which is all quite confusing to say the least. In addition to this, and while your final summary included attributes such as; ease of installation, anti-bacterial etc, I'd question whether such characteristics should actually weigh-in on whether a protector could take first place or not, given that this would not constitute protection - ie, when was the last time you heard someone say 'this screen protector is useless against scratches and impacts, but it did such a wonderful job against bacteria, and it was so easy to install, that I just have to use it...' I mean in all fairness, someone could say that, though I really don't see how we could conclude that to be of any help in terms of peer-review personally... Anyways, I just thought I'd offer my two cents on matters. And so with that said, the final conclusion might be better presented in two parts - the first 1) scratch and impact resistance 2) whereas, other features such as; install, touch and feel, antibacterial, etc, etc. could cater to additional features, though not the main function of the screen itself - my two cents
Thank you for the review of the screen protector. Will be picking up a iPhone 12 mini in the near future. Been looking at the Spigen, only because I have a Spigen case on my 5s that will finally up grade now I like how Spigen has application process. That said, after watching this...will give FloLab and Shell-R-Us consideration. This take away from this review is your comment “scratches leads to cracks”....a very important aspect for me. Thank you from Montana

Great job on the entertaining and informative study! The strength of the glass to withstand cracks can be misleading when it comes to protecting the phone. To a certain point you would want the glass to eventually crack since this would prevent the transfer of the blunt force to the actual phone itself. Similar in thinking to motorcycle helmets which the foam inner material is designed to crack with a certain amount of force since you don't want the full transfer to the head.

Good point! I switched from Zagg elite + to spigen and noticed better clarity. But also I think the tactile response was better with Zagg. I think along with clarity, tactile response should be looked at as well!
I think he mentioned in a previous video that the Shellrus was the clearest screen protector of them all. That’s what went with, I ordered it almost a week ago and I’m still waiting for it to arrive in 2 days. Pricey but I’m excited for it.

I just purchased the Spigen Tempered Glass and was amazed how easy it was to install. This is my first Apple device as I've always been an Android fan boy since they pretty much came out. I've never had a screen protector install easier than the Spigen, such a good method to install. That said, I don't spend $60 bucks on screen protectors, so maybe there are some amazing install methods on more expensive ones. But for $13 bucks for 2 I'll be more than happy to replace them once or twice a year if they get a little scratched.
@@burtmachine I applied it myself, I bought it online, picked it up at an Apple store, but the staff said that the one I purchased wasn’t compatible because it came with the tray, so they told me to do it myself at home :/.
@@Stanislasz That sucks. I bought the Belkin Ultraglass online and had it shipped to me. When I picked up the phone at Apple, I brought the Ultraglass with me and I asked the staff to install it for me. They said I needed to return the one I had bought online (which has the at-home install try) and then buy the one in the store (which has different packaging). I did that, and then they installed the screen protector for me. I'm surprised the staff at Apple did not offer you that option!
I put it on my moms 12max and instantly took it off. It fit like it was meant for a smaller phone. Horrible to just have it line it with the actual screen and not to the edge. It looked so small on the phone. Took it off and back it went.
Wow. What a nice kit for install. Just goes on perfectly...no bubbles, edge to edge protection, and screen sensitivity is excellent (I can't tell a difference from before and after the installation). I would like to have the absolute most scratch resistance possible, but not at the cost of lack of impact tolerance. This is why I chose the FloLab over Sapphire. Really good scratch resistance with excellent impact resistance, as well. Never had a screen protector of this quality. Very happy.

Me: *using a screen protector I got from the dollar store*
@@Emucratic And how do you know that Belkin has 'by far' the best transmission rate?

@@sdonnellyrx thank you for the reply ! much appreciated
Which NanoArmour did you test, in particular? :) They have 4 clear screen protectors that all sound pretty similar. 😅
Would you still recommend it?
You just gained a new follower ! This test is amazingly methodical. No « I think » just tests and obzervations ! Wow did you do the same thing for cases ?
A nice way to prevent dust from going back on the screen during installation is to use an antistatic mat, type Bergeon, something from the watchmaking world. I found it pretty practical on a wooden table with as few cloths as possible around and while using finger cots.
Wow, this is the type of review video I was hoping to find… and it was so much more! Even though it’s almost 2 yrs old, still relevant. Great job! Thanks for your hard work!!
I don't have an iphone, and I don't use a screenprotector, yet I'm still sat here watching your videos 😂
thanks! ended up buying the flolab for the iphone 13. the easy to install won me over
I always run a shower for about five minutes then go to the bathroom and apply a screen protector to your my phone. The humidity in the air takes out all the dust, I have never had a piece of dust underneath a screen protector ever.
Can u come over and put one on for me? I dno how to lol
I’ve the vacuum cleaner very close to the screen which gave me the best results.
That makes sense. Generally you want to avoid applying when the ambient air conditions are too dry which can cause static electricity and attract dust particles like magnets.
Wow, I’ll try that!
My showers are too cold for that
I would like to see a combo video of screen protector and phone case ranking.

Started to get small micro scratches on my 12 Pro Max. Came to this video to find out about screen protectors. Thank you for all your hard work
Thank you for your advice and testing! Got the Flolab (through your link, of course). It took a few days to arrive but it was so worth it! You are right about the ease of installation. I love this screen protector.

this channel is so underrated
Which Flolab screen protector did you use? they have 4 of basically the same ones.
I have a question! Which would be the top 10 best PRIVACY screen protectors?

I would love to know what affects the screen colour most too. That would be great to know! Love your videos!
Monty is actually my main reason for watching and subscribing.
The tech is bonus lol. Plus you're Canadian...
Dropping water on the surface isn’t a good measure of oleophobic coating. Oleophobic is “oil”-phobic. Try something like a thin oil.
Right, I was so confused when he tested it with water lol. It's not called a hydrophobic coating
Probably because they advertise it as water resistance, and not necessarily oil resistance. The chances of oil droplets falling on your screen for the average user vs water droplets is pretty low.
@@MetalMann-de3xi the coating is for the oil on your fingers
@@MetalMann-de3xi then don’t use this as a measure of the oleophobic coating.

Saved me $329.00
If the protector is covering the front camera, it's bound to effect the image quality right?
Only if you’re shooting in “selfie mode”. The default view will use the lenses on back of phone, and the flipped-to-selfie view will use the front of phone lens, which yes, probably has some haze from any screen protector.
Thanks for clarifying the Val situation. I've watched at least a dozen of your videos and never really was clear.
More variety than KFC as always dude, well done
Oh lol
Have you seen the Glass XTR from zagg with D3O integrated?
Very comprehensive breakdown of these screen protectors 🤩👍. It’s great that you highlighted that trade off between scratch resistance and impact/crack resistance. I think we need to ask all of these companies to include larger dust removal stickers. Monty’s looking too cool for school with his shades 😎🐶.

In addition to this, and while your final summary included attributes such as; ease of installation, anti-bacterial etc, I'd question whether such characteristics should actually weigh-in on whether a protector could take first place or not, given that this would not constitute protection - ie, when was the last time you heard someone say 'this screen protector is useless against scratches and impacts, but it did such a wonderful job against bacteria, and it was so easy to install, that I just have to use it...'
I mean in all fairness, someone could say that, though I really don't see how we could conclude that to be of any help in terms of peer-review personally...

Do you still like the Spiegen? I need one for the 13.
