    My wife and I have at least five pounds of sea glass that we have collected over the past twenty years. Wonderful times combing the beaches and sharing our finds with other beachcombers.

    Loved your video. I have been going to Maine every summer since I was a little kid. My sisters own a cottage on Higgins beach (not much if any sea glass) we kayak to a tiny island near Higgins and it has a little. Always looking for new places to look while we are there. One time we took the Ferry over to peaks island and found a spot with some sea glass. May I ask what island you took the ferry to. If I went to any of the Casio bay islands would I have luck? I know sea glasses don’t like giving up there secret spots but I hoping you might. If you ever come to Chicago I’ll tell you what beach you can find great glass on Lake Michigan. Thanks and keep putting out fun videos.

    16:05 looks like an old coke bottle. So cool. Did you know that if you leave white glass exposed to the sun, some pieces will turn lavender and then purple? Glass sitting on the beach in the sun often doesn’t start out purple, but turns purple because of the chemicals used to make the glass. I have several pieces sitting on my (outside) windowsill and some of it is starting to turn.

I do have a friend who is quite a big SG enthusiast and she really helped plan this trip! Some Sea glassers use their finds for display or for crafts - thanks for watching(a second time)!

    • @solaceinshelling6552
      @solaceinshelling6552  2 роки тому

      Hello! There are municipal ferries from Portland (Casco Bay Lines), that service many islands here. You may also kayak to these islands as well, however exercise caution as there is a lot of commercial boat traffic and strong currents.

      @solaceinshelling6552  2 роки тому +1

      Hello friend! I don't know of any places exactly in that area of Maine where great sea glass could be found, but in general my rule of thumb is to check out small cobblestone beaches where there is medium to slightly heavier wave action.
      With that said, both sea glassing and shelling can be hit or miss. I hope you find some great treasures, and thanks for watching!

      Thanks for asking! I am originally from Maine, but live currently in NYC - I spend most of my time between these two places. I have family that lives in Florida, so when I visit I try to bake some shelling into my trip. In the past few years, I have had the opportunity to visit a couple places in the Caribbean as well, and...you guessed it - did some shelling! Many of my videos are filmed over longer periods of time and I plan episodes well in advance. Additionally, when possible, I try to keep the uploads varied and spaced apart so you aren't seeing one location all the time!
