Anyone whose primary income comes from doing a job (as opposed to property/stock ownership or capital) is technically a working person. That's most of the population. Far too late, the voters learned it didn't mean them, it meant the Tory MPs and their rich friends all along. It took poverty to their own to work that out. Frickin' POVERTY. Excellent discussion. This was altogether the wrong choice for Britain’s leadership. I say that as an outsider, but it was blatantly clear from the outset - even I could see it. I doubt she’ll last a year.
The trouble with democracy is it reacts after the fact. A massive damage has to occur first by which time any changes are just pure cosmetics and already too late. Peoples inertia is what destroys them. And absolutely no repercussions for political leaders no matter how much society is damaged as they go from yatchs to yatchs.

George Monbiot paints a picture in the UK that is both sad and very dark. Unfortunately the situation is very similar in the US. This is why Trump got so many votes in 2016 and 2020 even though he lost. And also why Biden was able to get 300M in campaign donations in 1 month, (sept) before the elections. It questions whether we really have a democracy.
"Govern as a conservative". Can someone please elaborate? The chorus of canaries in the coal mine are singing ever louder. Pity that those very people in positions of power cant/wont hear them. So perhaps the billions that are being led into oblivion should say and do something, anything.

In only 6 weeks, Liz Truss has been already responsible for a major distrust for Tories among voters in the UK... with her, the Tories have fallen to 27% among British voters (while the Labour Party has risen at 46%)... As regards their PR campaigns quite possibly. As regards their real actions they are increasingly doing what a tiny elite want with no regards to much of the general public or their long term well being. "Freedom is just another word for nothing left to loose".
I have no more patience for the English electorate. Scotland needs to get out of this mess now. 1955 was the last time we voted for the Conservatives, and that was the more diluted Conservatives back in the day. Scotland does not want this far right nightmare thrusted upon it. We need out. We will get out. We're clearly not better together. Scottish Independence needs to happen now.
Liz Truss has made several course corrections in her public life to suite her career path. Now that she has achieved what she had her sights upon , it would be interesting to see if she can deliver what she promised. She takes office with the lowest public faith in her leadership.
That is Liz's one and only major advantage. She can't go any lower in the U.K. polls than she already is. Practically what she is purposing energy wise and otherwise is a short term political advantage, but otherwise a economic, energy and geo-political disaster. Her huge proposed direct subsides to consumers will ratchet up inflation big time and her lack of new, practical, energy infrastructure development (most of which must be long term to be useful) will not lead to solving the fundamental problem of not providing nearly enough energy to keep the U.K. functioning (including fracking).

Paul Heydarian, she might get nuked back, pronto.😂😂

Before she pushes the nuke button, I hope she will give every household the option to leave the country before we all disappear with it of the Atlantic' s face. But she is welcome to stay put.

"Working folks" doesn't just mean factory workers, shelf stackers and binmen. It includes highly intelligent and educated people such as doctors, lawyers, teachers, programmers, even businessmen. Anyone whose primary income comes from doing a job (as opposed to property/stock ownership or capital) is technically a working person. That's most of the population.
The question is, "Who was the right choice from the available choices?"
