@@jonwardle8822 Integrity is a subjective perception, as is perception of autoracy in our comments (be careful of Cognitive Dissonance controling your perceptions there...), and I see the opposite of integrity in his overall behaviour, at a rate and extreme that used to be nigh-on absent. If anything he has sold out to a very popular and lucrative grift market, and a near fanatical conservative demographic that is disturbingly mainstreamed and shot through with deceit and self interest at the too, all dressed up as moral concern. I consider these vectors of influemce to be leading towards a lot of very bad outcomes for genuine liberty and the species. I don't entirely think that is what he THINKS he is doing, but just by the weight of observable behaviours and outcomes of his messaging, that is what he appears, to me, currently. .
I dont think everything Brand talks about is wrong either, nor do I think he "is" right wing etc, but what he DOES is amplify those narratives of the Far Right and Tankie Left conspiricy milieue, to the exclusion of rational counter evidence, and I'd put him much more in the "useful idiot for dangerous ideologies and people" camp. I probably watch more of this channel than Russels but I don't think his coverage was ever misrepresentative,

As much as i love the quick and simple way this guy debunks meat- and fossil fuel industry-arguments i do feel i need to point out there are some glaring holes in his reasoning.
Now i grew up on a failing permaculture farm, i have seen exactly how hard it is to sustain a family with a pretty sizable bit of land and how hard it is to get your balance just right. That being said, running any kind of small farm without farm animals makes recycling your waste streams and keeping all those nutrients in your soil near impossible. It makes you severely dependent on fertilizers, organic or otherwise, that need to be trucked in.
I live in the netherlands, none of our environment is natural and yet we have found all kinds of intelligent ways to keep what little land we have from flushing away and to sequester organic material (carbon) back into our soil. We have been doing these things to make our soil more suitable for growing food for the better part of a millennium and to great success, only for so-called modern farming methods to undo most of it within 70 years.
I strongly believe that we need to involve about half of our population with farming and that re-introducing small, mixed farms is the way to do it, because people need a sense of ownership to be proud about improving their immediate environment.
I also believe that our understanding of natural ecosystems is way too flawed to assume that we can bring them back in a controlled way, because i have seen our local forest-preservation-departments flounder with all their best intentions.
Please stop making sweeping statements about agriculture, the only way we're ever going to get out of this mess is by making sure that most of us actually get to be a part of that environment during our lives.

Great Idea, how do we know Russel isn’t playing the far right . I agree with George on a lot of things, but I’m not 100% sure he’s right here. There is a lot of conspiracies being thrown about at the moment. But that is parr for the course , to anybody wanting to throw you off track. One thing I’ve not seen George Focus on is the Proxy war in Europe. And the limited reporting of the riots in France , that go deeper than just about pensions. I know he is big on climate change. And what he said about nitrates, I agree . They along with raw sewage , waste plastic , pesticides and nitric acid , should be our focus. But most of the time it’s just carbon dioxide that is mentioned and that is what plants actually thrive on as against the acidic waste. With regard to the Dutch farmers, how much does he know about their side of the argument. There is after all always two sides and you can not always assume your right on everything, including George.

This man is completely mischaracterising peoples’ concerns regarding the Dutch farmers. He said that Russel Brand hasn’t mentioned asylum seekers, perhaps that’s because that is not the problem: the problem is that the Dutch farmers are the among most efficient and productive workers, they are not allowed to sell their farms privately and so their only option, when the state make their work practically impossible through ridiculous, forced nitrate reductions, is to sell their land to (you guessed it) the state!
Since when is standing up for actual, working people right wing? Isn’t that supposed to be the battle ground if the left? Or maybe we all have to realise that left and right are meaningless terms now and we are left with only moderates and extremists.

It is a wonderful tactic people like Brand use because it means you're immune to scandal, immune to being called out by anyone because your audience will automatically take that as confirmation that everything they (Brand in this instance) say is true because someone disagrees with them. So, let me see if I understand this: I shouldn't listen to Russell Brand because he attacks people and institutions that George Monbiot doesn't want him to question, and doesn't attack the people George Monbiot wants him to attack. So Mr. Monbiot is now judging people not upon what they say, but upon what they don't say. That seems to be a dangerous precedent to me; will "not being correct enough" soon be a crime?
I've never heard RB say the Dutch farmers are being replaced by immigrants; I have heard him say something to the effect of "Hey, when there's no more farmers who is going to grow the food you eat?" That seems like a reasonable question to me.
Yes, the "far-right" questions their governments - but I kind of think we should ALWAYS question PEOPLE who control our lives and spend our tax money. In fact, RB frequently attacks the military industrial complex and the "forever war" mentality - things the "far right" supposedly supports.
In basically every video Russell cites news sources, reports, or direct quotes to back up his position. So far Mr. Monbiot has just said "Russel Brand is bad, because I said so." I mean, who are we to believe? George Monbiot or our lying eyes?

Brand is a vegan, so clearly he knows very well that we don't need animal products to be healthy. And on that point, the courts in Holland haven't ever said animal agriculture is the problem. I have a number of George’s books and agree with many of his comments but he is starting to drift to the dark side of left, an area I have grown to distrust. He has become blinkered by his passion for green issues. What George seems to not see ,or overlook, is many of the solutions to environmentally problems our governments propose and he supports ,are extremely damaging to the poorest in our society. But you will not see any article in the middle class Guardian about this. Nearly a third of the uk now live in fuel poverty as a result of green policies. A demographic the left are supposed to speak for but don’t for fear that any criticism of green policy will label them far right. Far right being A phrase the London Mayer recently used to describe working class Londoners who protested his draconian attack on there freedoms by expanding the ULEZ zone. A policy I am sure George supports. Russell Brand has always championed the plight of the poor and called out inequality in his videos. An inequality that green policy is furthering.
