leonardo dicaprio and johnny depp both legends in one movie
I strongly agree
I agree strongly
strongly agree I
Dicaprio is way too over rated
Probably why they are the only two in the cover.
Leonardo and Johnny Depp have awesome chemistry in this film. Leonardo nailed his role. My autistic son is very much like Arnie and my eldest has the same character Gilbert has in the film. The film is one I hold dear because it reminds me of my sons and the relationship they have. Will always be a favorite of mine.
Same here !
God bless dear.
@@Billie0708thank you ❤
I found this movie randomly now it's on my legendary movie list
Same
Is it really that good?
Il about to watch it
@@walterc77 oh yeah it's amazing and very touchy something that stays in your heart
Which other movies are on that list?
Not many people know that this a simple yet legendary movie. I randomly watched it n now it's one of my favourites.
If you are emotional, don't watch this. You will end up crying. a lot
try me lol
Too late I watched this already 😤
I should've seen this comment earlier 🤦🏼♀️
Just I watched the trailer and already was crying.😩
Yup...
this movie is probably my favorite favorite Leonardo Dicaprio and Johnny Depp movie. the duo is just MUAH. i love the setting an old ordinary boring town, its quite difficult to understand the movie itself. but still a classic and one of my favorites i really do suggest you watch this
It's a coming of age movie, sort of. It's about a dude who loves his family and has to be the man of the house. Pretty simple
@@jamesporter6288 yeah yeah we all know that, you get that at the start of the movie when we get the introduction. its just so alluring in a way
I hope Leo and Johnny do another movie together. They had good chemistry.
Movie just came on Netflix.
Goodness I had the biggest crush on Johnny Depp! Gilbert Grape, cry baby, Edward scissor hands and more! Think I’ll watch Gilbert grape because I was a teen when I last saw this and only seen it once but not as an adult! It’s nice to go back and watch old movies and cartoons as well you seen as a child and teen to see what you missed that went way over your head at the time!
I'm here for Johnny Depp 💕 & Leonardo DiCaprio in 2022!!
Same🥰
I legitimately typed into google "that movie with the boy whose mom couldn't leave the house because she was fat" because all I could remember was the name Grapes. And it popped up!! The internet is amazing
This movie is actually the most accurate thing to my life no lie i swear to god! Same thing I’m the oldest in the family take care of special needs brother. I have work personal at daycare centers with disabled people and my brother as well attended. Than now I’m 30 living with chronic and cprs complex pain regional syndrome. My whole family has it and I most take care of everything and everyone! I’m still going a lot as well myself but my family comes first. Oh my mom is still alive but suffers just like me. But I’m the most severe
Leo def should’ve WON an Oscar for this along with many other movies he later did but little did he know he wouldn’t take his first one home for another 23 years…unreal
I watch this movie over and over. So much to unpack.
This was by far the best comedy of all time
Comedy? It’s a hard Drama.
This moved me. This is soooo 90s
This movie is so enchantingly beautiful 😍
What a background music🔥🔥🔥
J'adore ce film

This movie, I swear. 💗
Great classic ! Sad story would love to read the book
Outstanding trailer and good movie 🙄🙄🙄🙄
They put Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio in the same movie❤❤❤❤
I felt so bad for poor Gilbert this entire movie loo

this movie really hits hard for me!
Two legends in one frame
Now we know where Johnny Depp got all his sick and twisted ideas for his real life suspense drama
Anyone else came here because they already found the American Dad parody of this with squirrels? 😅

This movie deals with the difficult topic of managing family responsibilities and personal ambitions and development. While this is an interesting subject to which most of us can relate to, this is not a good movie.
The movie relies on a very thin plot and it is not sustained by any good dialogues or character development. It feels more like a sequence of largely uncorrelated and inconsequential scenes whose only goal is to show how pointless, boring and ultimately sad life in small town Iowa can be. This goes from the unsatisfied housewife and the death of her husband, to the peasants belittling the morbidly obese mother of Gilbert to the funeral service man hoping to have more deaths in town. Just like in `The Bridges of Madison County' an Angel arrives in town to save our hopeless hero, this time in the form of a free spirited traveling girl who by accident happens to be in this lost corner of the world. While this may please the folks from New York or California, it does not necessarily makes for a good movie. The writing of the dialogues is sloppy and it feels like the writers did not even bother to try. The acting is overall decent considering that the actors were given such a poor script. Leonardo DiCaprio is good (not amazing) in his portrait of the autistic brother of Gilbert. Juliette Lewis as Becky tries very hard but was given nothing meaningful to say and Johnny Depp most of the times seems to think that it is enough to show a pretty face to do good acting. Overall a very bizarre, pointless and disorganized effort which left me wondering about all the hype.
So what exactly was eating Gilbert Grape??
it's very cute and entertaining. It's a great film. You won't regret it. Quote me on that.
It should have been played by Seinfeld. "I mean what's the deal with the down syndrome? They seem to always be looking up not down".............no good? Sorry
🥰🥰🥰🥰
Johnny Depp was the man back - Look at his career now
Then James Cameron and TITANIC came along
And turned Leo in to a superstar

This movie hit me hard. As a individual struggling with a disability, I swear, Leonardo DiCaprio gave a heartbreaking and captivating performance that struck me right in the heart. This is a film that not only deserves to be seen by disabled people but everyone in between. May I remind you that if you choose to watch this, bring tissues and be prepared to cry big time. This is a extremely well made and heartfelt movie.
I read something that I'm not sure if it were real or not, but apparently at the premiere of this movie, everyone was surprised to see that Leonardo wasn't disabled!!! He did such a great job in the movie that everybody thought he was in fact disabled!!!
By the way thanks for the heads up...
Yes.
I cannot control crying when gilbert slapped arnie.
@@wolfpeach7501 your probably feeling guilty because you done the same things 😆. It's a film wolfy 🐺 don't be a sentimental fool.
I feel you. Same here not only that my mom suffered a lot with physical issues and it’s really emotional to see, live with it

@@biddlesusan1608 but I was no knight in shimmering armor
damn son, go out and get some air
This movie hits you differently when you are in your late 20s, still in your suburban home town and not sure what you want to do in life
You have plenty of time and when it happens for you, it happens in the blink of an eye.
Man this is me right now, now I’m scared to watch it
It could be worse I saw it when I was twelve during the civil war in ex Yugoslavia, we wouldn't have electricity for one week and then we get it for one week, same with water, pumps couldn't get the pressure without electricity. People dying around me, grandes falling, sirens going off to alarm us of the attack.... don't worry you will be fine.
we can do it! enjoy the journey
As an autistic person, this is a way better representation than ‘Musis’ yet it was made 20 years ago. Like this movie has the decency to make Arnie an actual character.
28 years ago to be specific, but I agree with you.
Hypocrisy
Annie is not autistic. He has an unspecified condition that causes mental delay. If you watch the movie, you’ll hear Gilbert say the doctors said when he was born he’d never live past ten. Autism is not detected in a newborn baby, so this is clearly not what the doctors saw in Arnie. At no point does the film or book mention Autism, and putting Arnie in that box based on your own opinion of him is ableist language. Not everyone like Arnie has autism.
@@Alskdoenfkemfnek give the guy a break
I personally loved Rain man. It show a more realistic case of autism.
When Arnie’s Mother slams down her hand demanding her son was a powerful cinematic moment; I felt the actress deserved an Oscar Nomination as she put everything into that scene; gives me chills every time I see it.
That scene brings me to tears
It's amazing that Darlene Cates had absolutely no acting experience. She was a natural and played the role so well.
DiCaprio the legend
Who could've done it better than depp..???

One of the best movie I have ever watched. Leo and Johnny are legendary
Such a fantastic, beautiful film. One of my absolute favorites.
I agree!!
Agreed
The saddest thing is when the Gilbert punch Arnie 😭
That was the best part I cheered him on!!!!
I found myself complitly amazed by the fact that 99 % of the opinions talks about Dicaprios performance, which is superb of course... But no one talks about how well is portrayed the plot of the film, that is what really touches me... The taste of desperate and bitternes Gilbert have to take day after day, trying to face and being responsable of his complicated and disfunctional family..
Leo would be canceled today for taking on this role.
Trumptards would have canceled Leo faster than Liz Cheney.
That's okay. There are many talented autistic actors and we'd be enriched by them. We have more to gain than to lose.
@@mellejobs7412 but the point of acting is to bring characters to life, characters the actor is not like in real life so I find it very ignorant when people get mad at abled-actors doing roles of disabled characters and wanting to see only disabled people doing roles of disabled characters. People are really dumb nowadays.
I'm autistic (high functioning), and even tho they aren't a characters my heart goes out to the Grapes❤️🍇🥺🤗
Leo did GREAT, when I you watch a movie with an actor/actress nowadays you're like wow **actor/actress** is so good looking, or wow I love movies with **actor/actress**
But when I watch Leo play Arnie, I don't see Leo, I see Arnie as an actual person, when I watch JD as Gilbert I see JD.
I know a kid who is lower functioning than me and a bit more than Arnie, and I'm totally able to see a little bit of him in Arnie which is crazy considering Arnie isn't a real person.
Leo may haven't gotten a high award for this but in my- and possibly multiple families and people with autism including myself he has a high award!
(I know I can't speak for the whole ASD community, but I feel like a lot would agree).
The movie I fell in love with Johnny Depp 😍😍😍
Justice for the love of my life jd, he deserves it
Remember watching this in 1993. Still my favorite movie ever❤
Kind of a difficult movie to understand but is one of my favorites
read the book it's perfect too
aya_8 I really want to read the book, sounds great
@@LunaKittyfox I'm currently reading I highly recommend cause you get to understand much more stuff in the movie they left some things out of the script for example Gilbert in the movie is more melancholic in the book he's like that too but he has a really sarcastic/funny persona as well and he's not so nice with Becky at first haha even though I really enjoy the movie as well they captured the main events perfectly just in a slightly diffrent tone the movie tends to be more serious the book has some funny/comedy stuff alongside drama

Here is a thought. Maybe cut off the ladder so nobody can climb up the stupid thing. And the person who does need to climb it just bring himself a ladder. All they had to do was cut a few handles off and it would have all been fixed lol. Good movie tho
seriously, or a cage or somethin! lol great film tho
''Did you ever see a beached whale on television? Yeah. Thats her thats my mom'' Not gonna lie i died .
What an outstanding movie! Both Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio were phenomenal.. how did Leonardo not win an Oscar for this role!?!?
I remember watching the movie.. and had no idea who Leo was at the time. He was so convincing.. that for a while, I seriously thought that maybe they got a mentally disabled boy to be in the movie. He should've won the Oscar for that role!
Two legends in one frame 💕
Such a good sad movie
I saw this movie a few years ago, when I was around 5 or 6 years old, maybe bit more, maybe bit less, but I'll tell you one thing, ive been looking for this movie ever since I saw it when I was very small and it stuck with me all these years, I mean, that young mind of me got traumatized and amazed by this movie, I absolutely loved this movie and made me realize the magic and art of theatre, cinema and acting and I didn't just love it because of the actors (that I didn't even know or realized who they were at that time) which is an amazing thing. We should give this movie more credit, start talkin about it more. The performance of each and every person involved in this project is just astounding.
I'm 31. This is the only movie I remember from when I was like 4 or 5. But I never knew Johnny Depp was in it. The faces weren't clear in my mind but the story was very memorable to me for some reason.

For 30 years I remember the trailer everyday after school I was 9 years old and now I 39 years old
This movie is super amazing. As someone who has a disability and is going into work involving disability, this is so meaningful. It has such a great message and helps awareness on intellectual disability. Plus it’s Johnny depp. Next time I watch it maybe I’ll enjoy a mega pint.
"A mega pint?" Do you mean "a very large glass..." 😉
@@justanotherday3969 yea I was making a joke making fun of his ex. Giving him back the power by making the joke.

Who else bcoz of Johnny depp? And his gentle heart while making this movie off camera
The most painful part is in the end when they have to burn down their entire house to cremate their dead mother since they cannot bring her mortal remains outside for a burial.
I am surprised the woke police hadn’t banned it because it’s not a disabled person playing disabled person
Leonardo dicaprio was so sick for this ?????
