Seven. Hours. Seven whole hours. I just wanted to thank you, sir, for providing me with the long form StarCraft content I have been craving for so so long. I love this game and i love hearing people talk about it, but i also love long videos that i can listen to or well crafted essays that can capture my attention. This is like, the one thing i've been hoping to get out of youtube for a while. Thanks for sticking out, you're a diamond in the rough.I really love hearing someone like you share a similar passion for this game that I have, and these videos are a really good mix of well written video essay and cozy nerdy rant. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and creativity online this way, it makes my day better watching these videos from you, finding comfort in listening to someone prove with their whole heart that i'm not the only one that loves this universe and story this much
You’ve made my month. I cannot express my gratitude for not only taking the time to watch my content, but to share this with such elegance and passion. Thank you. This is why I started making videos a year ago, connections, sharing, and nerding out : ) Hope all is well, and look forward to the next series which we can share our thoughts! Sincerely, and with all my heart, thank you, Dog Dad
I really appreciate this video. Noone in my friend group played those games and hearing someone else's thoughts on them was really fun and heart warming. Those games are my child hood.
Thank you so much for writing this! Same here, it really opened my eyes to what sci fi could be! And the fact you can control all the units, it was purely awesome! Hope all is well!
35:55 what really sold the protoss for me were the zealots. Those psi/energy/laser blades on their hands made such a raw, distinct sound when they sliced and stabbed enemies. This and the way a single unit could slaughter a handful of zerglings was more than enough to convince my kid brain that the protoss are truly the "advanced" race. I still have over 6 hours of video to go but seems great so far, liked & subbed. Hoping this compilation gets the attention it deserves!
Despite all the problems with the story like the descent into space magic, "purity of form/essence" nonsense, dragonball z beam fights and logical inconsistencies (why does Jimmy have a gun in his space jail cell) SC2 is still one of the best games of all time. Playing through all the campaigns with their perfectly responsive RTS gameplay and the constant addition of new mechanics is easily the best of the genre and a real journey. Even when the story gets messy or misses opportunities, it has some great moments. Zeratul saying "My life for Aiur" after everything that's happened up to LOTV is pitch perfect. Great video series, been a joy to revisit these and I'm reinstalling 1 remaster and 2 for sure. Also interesting that Starcraft is maybe the only time I've heard Southern accents in space, and Raynor, Tychus and Mengsk all give great performances.
@Dog.Dad.Studios No sir thank you for reminding me how awesome starcraft is because of these videos I've replayed the series over again from start to finish paying for attention to the story instead of skipping the dialogue I appreciate the amount of time you put into these videos.
My first experience with StarCraft and Brood War were when I lived in Japan in 2009. I was 7 at the time and it was one of two games on my dad’s laptop (SWTOR being the other). When WoL and HotS dropped, we played through them together. Protoss had always been my favorite race, so we were eagerly awaiting what would eventually become LotV, but he passed away in 2014. Legacy was the first game or expansion I opened for the first time without him, and everything relating to Zeratul and Artanis’s relationship hit all the harder. The track “My Life for Auir” brings me to tears every time. We also don’t talk about the epilogue, what epilogue?
Fun fact after the tosh nova mission if you keep hansen on and you pick tosh she reveals afterwards that nova was lying and the spectres you release arent pyschos.
I was just about to start this series when this came out, thanks. Back in HS we had starcraft on usb drives and would do lan when in the lab, quickly I was banned from playing zerg, then protoss, forcing me to only play terrain it was good times.
I know it was said on the past videos but this is mostly for others who might have not watched them: Kerrigan and Jim's relationship seen over the course of four missions was actually a much longer period of time. I think, at minimum, a few months. So the two in past comics or books actually had a longer relationship than Starcraft I really could show. Not harping on you DDS. I'm mostly putting the info down for the sake of explaining things for those not familiar. I'm enjoying the video greatly and it's one of the recent additions to my Long Form Playlist that I use to just listen to things when I need background, work, or driving stuff
I love how SC2 trilogy part progresses from "What are you guys talking about, this thing is great!" to "Oh... I see now...". Which reminds me of my own experience with SC2 trilogy. I've started playing SC2 sometime before HotS and by HotS I loved it so much I preordered the collectors edition and after playing the campaign I was like "What the heck is this Disney BS?". Also Swarm Host meta in pro SC2 was super boring to watch. When LotV came out I also got the collectors edition, though I had so bad PC at the time I couldn't even get 30FPS but I still finished the campaign and I quickly forgot so much about it besides the fact that it suddenly turned into "the forces of good vs the ultimate biga bad boss" which was very disappointing for this universe. I bought and played through the Nova missions once the last pack came out and I don't remember anything from it. Somehow it was more forgettable than the LotV epilogue for me. The thing that also doesn't help LotV is that a lot of coop missions were based on LotV and I more remember them from coop than from the campaign.
Ahahaha once people started talking about a ball of light ending in LoTV, I should’ve known something was up ahahah! Thanks so much for taking the time to write this and comment! Hope all is well!
This is a compilation and very easy to put together with all the videos on my computer. I’ve always liked these kind of videos from others including Settled ( osrs) so I decided to do the same : ) I am taking the weekend to visit friends in Philly!
