someone said it before but if they expanded it over 2 or 3 days (and kept the same number of bands) this festival has a lot of potential. having all this on one day is insane.
FWIW I didn't go to this year's SNW but I did go to SNW 2023, and I will attest, I did have a really fun time, but what Wyatt is saying is definitely true. It needs to be a multi-day event, the bands that play it hopefully would be willing to play a set multiple times, if they just staggered the schedule a little bit it would solve ALL the problems. I guess I just got lucky last year because I've always been a huge fan of the bands that played Spiral Stage last year and, being able to see The Birthday Massacre, Lacuna Coil, Orgy, Cold, Stabbing Westward, and MINISTRY all in one go was AWESOME, but it could've been better. Still wanted to see Kittie, KMFDM, and HEALTH also. Plus when Evanescence went I had a bit of a time getting to the main stage that, Amy was already 1/3 done with her set its like "Oh what the hell...". They DO need more merch vendors too, at least like double what they had in 23'
I used to gatekeep bands a lot and dismissed them as "pop". Did exactly the same with Bring me the Horizon for years. Late last year one of my friends who I didn't know liked heavier music showed me some of their songs and I immediately was like "wait this isn't pop, this is heavy as hell". Since then I've realised that saying certain bands "aren't real metal" or "are pop garbage" is a very limiting mindset. Who cares if it has a slightly pop inspired sound? It's fun. It's good. Worst of all, gatekeeping metal stops newer fans from gaining interest in the genre. I want to share the whole metal experience with my friends, not just sweaty festival-goers. It's fine if you don't like BMTH. You have the right to an opinion, but Bring me might be the pipeline to more people enjoying bands that you like. For a new fan moshing to Diamonds aren't forever might be what gets them into Knocked loose. I really like your channel and videos but it's a bit exhausting to keep seeing the same old gatekeeping mindset that so many metalheads share. Aren't festivals just a place to have some fun with people who have a similar music taste? Anyways, I was at the festival and I loved it. Last 3 bands on the main stages absolutely killed it. Great video!
Don’t get the whole chat around “gate keeping” shit was the same 20 years ago “and probably 20 years prior” when I started to listen to metal and going to gigs. Get a thick skin and tough it out. If you get discouraged by a few old heads then music is probably the least of your issues.
@@allworksnew Agreed,... count your blessings was epic! I don't know if this guy is Hellen Kellers cousin or something, but he would obviously rather listen to them cover Billie Eilish songs and do EDM remixes.
I'll never understand why Americans put up with this ridiculous pricing. Rockstadt is $225 for 100 bands over 6 days INCLUDING camping. $400 for one day is just ridiculous. And I shudder to think how much a beer costs.
There are some REALLY affordable festivals in the US but they don’t spend millions on advertising, thus they don’t have to pass those expenses along to the consumer via higher ticket prices. I have gone to the same 4-day festival for years. $450 includes VIP, free food, free drinks (including alcohol), campsite, and hardly any overlapping sets. Even the food and drink prices there are super reasonable…like $4 per beer. Plus free showers, free water, tons of free meet & greet opportunities and other stuff. Screw these big corporate festivals
Saw them at a concert a few years ago. Didn't really know what to expect but was blown away by their performance. Sound was great, he energy was through the roof, and everyone was going nuts. Only complaint was that they were the headliner of that show and only played a little more than an hour.
I actually worked SNW On the main stage as an audio tech. You didn't miss out with Lorna Shore, trust me. Wind was so high we had to drop the PA. And most (6 out of 9 on main stage) had thier own sound guy. All we did was make sure they didn't go over the dB limit. as winds change so does the sound. We added an extra set of delays this year so thats why it sounded sooo good even when you were that far out
I went and it was one of the greatest days of my life. Got to see System of a Down, Slipknot, BMTH, Bad Omens, Lamb of God (2nd time seeing them), BabyMetal, Ice Nine Kills, Lorna Shore, Knocked Loose, Alice In Chains, Kublai Khan TX, Loathe, Jinjer and Sevendust (2nd time seeing them) all in one day. It’s something I’ll remember for the rest of my life and there’s not a day that goes by where I don’t think about that trip
Wyatt's review of last years Sick New World prepared me for disappointment, but when I saw the lineup for SNW 2024, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to see some of my favorite bands. This year was improved upon in just about every way. We lined up 1 hour before gates opened (they also opened 20 minutes early, and took us nearly no time to get in), quickly filled up on water, got our lockers, and stood in the band merch line. Missed Spiritbox and Lorna Shore while waiting for merch which kinda sucked. The Red Stage side of the two main stages was nowhere near as crowded as the Gold Stage, and I was shocked at how un-crowded it was compared to the Gold side. Stood at the barrier between Red Stage and Red Stage VIP area for most of the festival with a water backpack, lots of sunscreen, and a big hat. Everything was phenomenal. Slipknot's sound mixing was muddy at times, but other than a few scheduling conflicts like System of a Down and Sleep Token being at the same time, the festival was fantastic. PS: Bring Me the Horizon's set was amazing too. They might not be "metal" but man, do they bring the energy. Seeing them play Kingslayer with Babymetal was one of my favorite performances of the day.
That's awesome! Sounds like you did it all correctly and really made the most out of the day. I think people who spent most of their time in one area probably enjoyed it the most
dude that sounds fuckin sick- S.O.A.D. and TOOL, Ev and NIN? amazing! wish this guy had covered APC in the video though, they're good showmen and a good band in general when you just look at those albums that aren't covers of their albums.
It wasn't that bad.The day before, Vegas got some thundershowers, and sometimes, it poured. Then the day of the festival came and i was surprised that it was actually breezy all day to the point it was kinda chilly (not to say that there weren't anyone who passed out from being in the sun all day). I say if it weren't for the rain the day before, we would've been cooked.
As a 13yr old who adores metal sick new world being my first festival was a complete game changer, I would not change a single thing about this day even tho i definitely got beat up in knocked loose, couldn't walk for the next 2 days after I wake up everyday wishing I was back. And for everyone hating on duster being there...I now get it. SYSTEM OF A DOWN!
I was there at the Gold/Red Stage the ENTIRE day! & I had an absolute blast! It helped that it was also my first festival & although I could have chosen a better first choice, I was not disappointed. I took my "The End, So Far" Corey Taylor mask & got featured by the screens like 10 - 13 times. I managed to plan accordingly in the day & sprinted in once the gates opened to get a barrier spot at Gold GA. Edit: Also, after Alice in Chains, I hopped the barrier & ended up on the Red Stage VIP right on time for Slipknot
2 words: POWER BANKS. I'm going to MMF in a couple of weeks and since I actually need my phone to uber/lyft back to the place I'm staying I looked into what people usually do at festivals and my goodness - power banks! I didn't even know these were really a thing but you better believe I bought one to keep my phone charged.
I started carrying them all the time just for work. I found one at the hotel I worked at, and used it for two years until it gave out. Those things are Lifesavers.
@@jadered9514 after having done a bunch of research I went with Anker. there are all sorts of different sizes and capacities out there I tried to pick one that seemed reliable but also would easily fit in my pocket / similar size as my phone.
I once had a panick attack because I waited hours for a show and my phone died right before the doors opened, luckily someone in the queue gave me their power bank and now I have one. Bring a power bank to any show and festivals, if your phone suddenly died you have something to charge it.
I told my wife about you and she had no knowledge of you but I wished I met you, me and her had an absolute blast with bad omens, BMTH, and knocked loose much respect to and all the videos you do 🤟🏻
Bring me the horizon kept making all these comments about mosh pits and having more and having bigger. I was just thinking, if you have ask for it that much maybe you should start playing music to mosh to. Lamb of God didn’t have to beg for a mosh pit, they did ask for the biggest circle of the festival, but that is more encouraging teamwork between the already going pits
I was in the crowd for BMTH and lamb of God. Lamb crowd had more space and was earlier in the day so no one was exhausted. BMTH was Jam packed and it was getting hard to breathe. Crowd started surging and was about to had a crowd colapse. It was getting scary so we left. I later found out that production shut down the set due to the high risk that the crowd was in.
True. bmth didn't have anything to mosh to. But Ollie kept harping about how there were no pits , which resulted in like 10 to break out simultaneously and resulting in people getting crushed
@@younglavish2467100% this! I saw them at knotfest LA 2021 and the crowd was insanity, I had my redemption seeing them with FOB in the summer last year but they always have pits but definitely people push too much and it can cause crowd crush. I got super worried when the show stopped bc I had lost my bf and was worried he was in the GA crowd (we had VIP but he would go into GA for the pits) stuck in the crowd crush, thankfully he wasn’t
Danny Elfman and Babymetal were the best despite primus slipknot and soad being there. Also with Slipknot sounding muddy live i have experienced that both times i saw them
Your video about SNW last year helped me navigate the front gate and saved me at least an hour. There was a huuuuuge line that I skipped and went to the very front. Only waited about 25-30 minutes before I was inside. I, too, was blown away on how good the stages sounded and how quickly they moved from one band to the other. Everyone was on schedule for the most part. Saw 6arely Legal, a little of Paleface Swiss, a little Lorna Shore, I've Nine Kills, Baby Metal (big meh to me), Trash Talk (amazing!), Superheaven, Slaughter to Prevail, a little A Perfect Circle, Alice in Chains, Danny Elfman (agreed, Amazing!), BMTH (Agreed, pop metal garbage), Slipknot, Some System and Sleep Token. While waiting for Sleep Token, we waited at the merch line and was able to score some shirts in about 20-25 mins, which was the right time since the lines were RIDICULOUS the entire time. Overall, great show. My feet hated me, though, especially after the show when I had to walk to the Palace Station.
I went the last two years, and if you prepare well then you can avoid a lot of issues. Like they sell merch in the morning and the day before, I bought my merch then so I didn’t have to buy it in the venue. Bringing power banks, wearing comfy shoes, sunscreen etc. in the line going in, you could literally walk around everyone because the line was for getting an alcohol wristband which they also were giving out inside.
I went to SNW and had a blast. Biggest cons were doors opening 23 minutes before the first band went on. That is way too early. I arrived in the lines a couple hours early so I got in quick and went straight to artist merch. 1 fucking hour right when doors opened. I missed Nonpoint and Kittie which I wanted to see so I was frustrated at that. By the time I got out of the merch line it was so long I couldn't even tell you where it started. I saw 14 bands in full and a little bit of the sets from 2 others. I spent about 60% of my time at the main stages, 35% at the spiral stage, and the rest at diablo. Sound was good for the most part, especially for Jinjer. One of the best mixes I've heard. I got to see a lot of bands I love and seen like Slipknot (which it wasn't just you the mix was pretty muddy for me a few times but it was good majority of the time) Babymetal, and Lorna Shore, while hearing bands I've heard of but haven't checked the music out for like Slaughter to Prevail, and Spiritbox. And the crowds were packed, by the time Babymetal came on people were crushing up front, I was close and after their set ended half the people close to the red stage left but we had to slither our way 1 by 1 out because of how dense it was and nobody wanted to let us move. I had to do something similar to get into a good place for Slipknot and SOAD since I wanted to mosh. Overall apart from the beginning merch line issue, I had a super fun time and would definitely go again if the opportunity arised. Edit: While not the biggest BMTH fan I love Babymetal so them bringing them out for Kingslayer was a huge highlight for me.
This was my very first rock/nu metal/hardcore festival and I came from Australia. Yes the set times were messed up and yes I was running all over the joint trying to catch their performances on time (which btw was a great feature with the SNW app), but I was just happy to be there and I had an absolute blast. Spent most of my time at the Diablo stage. I would definitely go again next year.
My family opted for VIP this year which was extremely expensive but i would say was worth it for red and gold stage. The vip sections were a lot bigger than last year so we were able to get a decent spot for slipknot and soad without having to stand in the same spot for hours, and the exclusive bathrooms definitely were helpful after my stomach started gymnastics once i ate some of the festival food. But the Siren stage and Spiral stage vip were the same section with only one entrance and made it very difficult to get out of, i noticed a lot of people who tried to migrate to the other side of the section to see the band at the next stage, but got stopped by the crowd, and missed it. They probably paid a lot of money so they would be able to see more bands without having to run against the 2 minutes in between each set, so to see this was a bit upsetting. You were right about sick new leg day, knowing the amount of money we spent on this, we tried to see as many bands as possible to get our moneys worth, and ended up seeing 15 bands within the 14 hours we were there. I woke up the next morning with some sick new excruciating leg pain!
Gotta say, as someone who has played many shows and knows about the way-too-quick changes between bands, that revolving double stage is GENIOUS. Don't know how much it costs, but it sure looks handy!
Randy Blythe wearing a Killing Joke shirt is pretty cool. Between Metallica, Godflesh, Dave Grohl, and many others praising them over the years, Killing Joke really do seem to be "Your favorite band's favorite band".
I pay 310 euro's for 4 days at Graspop Festival. Get to see 3/4 times as many bands. Only band I would really like to see is SAOD, the others bands regulary visit Europe as well. So 400 dollars is really expensive
I went this year and there was so many issues....Not enough merch, merch lines were too long, not enough sun shade, the VIP isn't really a VIP type of situation as it still feels like general admission on the left side of one of the stages, tons of rude security workers, grumpy people all over the place, too many bands on the ticket and my phone had full bars but no service. Couldnt get ahold of others at the festival. it was just a shit show. I don't think i'll ever go back.
"Full bars but no service" is a problem you can have when too many people with their phones are in one packed space. The nearest tower can't talk to so many phones simultaneously, it's overloaded.
"Sick New Leg Day" ...ain't that the truth!! I'm 54 and I've realized, I need to walk more! I had a great time there and managed to see 10 of the bands.
Purchased the VIP entrance, and it was worth every penny. The shows the infrastructure, all the vendings. The line up was amazing. Met some newer bands like Lohna Shore, Spiritbox, BabyMeta, and SleepToken, all of tem top notch. I'm seriously considering the 2025
i had a blast but i would never do it again. the biggest issue i had was the conflicting schedule. There were also a ton of people so actually being able to see the performers was a challenge, plus it was super hot that day and i was in my mask and jumpsuit (pretty sure i was in the pit right in front of your during slipknot).
I’ve really been enjoying your festival vlogs! I was on 70k this year and I also travelled to Sick New World, so they’ve all been fun to watch. MDF next for me! 🤘
Look I know Slipknot seems like they sold their soul but I recommend everyone thinking so to do some digging and you'll find out why they let go each member they have. Boils down to drug abuse after Pauls death pretty much for everyone except Jay. Its a rabbit hole for sure but you'll see them, especially Taylor and Crahan in a different light after that. For example, Joeys illness was very likely caused by Heroin abuse, but thats just speculation since there are more cases of this desease appearing in people who don't do heroin. But anyhow, said desease caused him to not being able to play properly anymore. On top of that he was a bad alcoholic. Apparently they had a few interventions with him to bring him back on track but to no avail. Even Band Members of his next Project "Sinsaenum" commented on his `demons`and how they could not get through to him. Jays firing has its own reasons that are very much understandable, he had it coming for a long time.
I was there and had a great time. Main stage was too crowded so we went to the 3 other stages and got to see a bunch of great bands. I did miss some I wanted to see due to conflicts, but that’s what happens with a 1 day festival. Also the artist merch line was 2 hours long at 11 am so don’t even think about getting anything
I was there in 2023 and this year and both times were a blast! 2023’s was in May in the blazing hot sun but it was still amazing! This year i had a blast and the weather was great since it was a month earlier than last year and a lot cooler. To each his own. It’s what you make it!
i went and i honestly wish i was into the bands more😭 i only wanted to go for like 4 or 5 bands and after the festival i got into sooo much more bands that played there and got more into bands i saw that i just didnt know much songs from. the trip was very expensive for me as i live in texas, and the line sadly made me miss Kittie, but it was amazing overall. i just severely wish i saw and was into more, but was surprised with the weather! it was a life changer for me. if only i had the money i would go to 2025’s SNW. during this SNW i was barely into actual metal and just into the popular stuff, but MAN im more disappointed in myself more than anything, id do anything right now to go back in time and relive it ❤️
I saw a lot of bands! And was in the ADA section with my friends! I had an amazing time! Even though my legs hurt so bad the next day, if it was up to me I'd go again next year
Last year was awesome, this year was even more insane. It was the final boss of festivals. All the insane hardcore bands, they popped off with this lineup. I left with many more injuries after this one than last year lol. have no idea how they’re gonna top it next year.
I was front and center at the gold stage all day. It was amazing! I got featured in the SOAD reels for the official sick new world videos. That was cool as hell. Impressed with BMTH. Became a fan of them. Loved it!
Even when I was young I didnt have the patience or stamina for festivals. Half the time the people I want to see are playing side shows around the festival dates, so I try and catch those.
Saw your video on last years festival among other peoples videos, and i was ready to be disappointed by this festival or at the very least fustrated. The only festival ive attended before this was Download Festival last year. I will say, i was VERY satisfied with this festival. I lined up probably 40 minutes before gates were supposed to open, and it wasnt a bad wait, let us in pretty fast. I saw almost all the bands i wanted to see. I was able to get food and water quickly, the bathrooms werent bad from my experience. The bands i saw had no sound issues besides sleep token and some parts of slipknot. I had general admission too, and i thought the VIP sections would ruin my views of the stage but i was almost always able to get close to the stages even when it was crowded. I will say, I do wish (as others) that this festival was at the very least 2 days. Bands i saw were: Kittie Paleface Swiss Lorna Shore Ice Nine Kills Baby Metal Bad Omens Loathe Kublai Khan Drain Motionless in White Knocked Loose Static Dress Bring Me The Horizon Slipknot System of a Down
No, it did not suck to me (but I had vip and we went in early to catch Kittie). I had a blast with my friends. The weather was perfect too which helped tremendously. The sound was good except for two bands where it cut off once briefly but everything else was good for the bands I went for. Diablo stage was sick the crowd was fun & Spiral too. My only complaint was the food prices but that's for every damn festival.
So when we got there we went into the pit with the wheelchair and for the first two bands there was no problem. But then Lamb of God came on and it got extremely crowded where Hannah was sitting in a sea of people. By the second song multiple mosh pits had formed around us. Luckily people saw the situation and formed a human mote around Hannah. It was a 3 layered person wall that still made the chair rock back and forth. People were yelling at other people that there is a girl with a wheelchair over here but that didn't stop the intensity. Hannah held on tight and stayed strong. I was more worried for her than she was. The cherry on the cake was when 10 people and I had to throw some crowd surfing a-hole to the side because he was about to fall into the Hannah Dip Zone. We got out safely but we did run over some toes. I've had my heart attack for the year! It was still a very good festival and we got to see 12 bands in total which was awesome!! Thank You to all who helped and had kindness in their hearts when they saw a wheelchair! Rock on 🤘
We had a great time last year and this year also. The weather was phenomenal compared to to last year's scorching heat. Lamb of God was awesome. Yes, there is some bad overlap. But still had a great time.
Honestly, it was one of the best festivals I’ve ever ever been to, the temperature was perfect. We had a great view the entire time, we were next to the gold and red stage the majority of the time, only waited a few minutes in line for drinks, and we got into VIP… not gonna lie it being a pretty metal chick helps haha. I know you hated Bring Me The Horizon, but I actually really like them.! But slipknot stole my heart and so did Danny Elfman!!! I’ve seen all these before except for Danny Elfman. He blew my fucking mind.
I work in concert production and how they crammed that many bands into one day back to back is actually insane considering how high the production value was by the looks of it. In reality they need to make this a 2 or 3 day festival and incorporate club shows later in the evening like Punk Rock Bowling does every year. That would put this festival in a different league and provide a better experience in my opinion.
i stayed at siren stage from 6 to midnight. got to knock out like 5 bucket list bands in one night. only issue was when fucking lameass polyphia cut into slowdives time and fucked up their soundcheck 😭
Im a few months away from turning 15 and this was my first ever festival! Seeing all of my favorite bands was so unreal. The smell and heat was definitely something to get used to lol but it became enjoyable after that 😅 (especially SOAD)
haha i'm surprised you hated bring me the horizon so much, i'm pretty elitist when it comes to metal but i can't help but like that band and the setlist they played here is pretty good i think
bring me the horizon are a weird band for me. loved their earlier stuff up until serp. its going away from its metal genre which i can agree on. some songs are okay from new stuff and they dont really belong in any pop show. its popmetal imo and olny is used to hanging in the deathcore scene so i assume thats why he wants more pits etc. its not uncommon for a artist to ask for this tho. saw it at architec, vomit fort and bmht. i understand how alot of elitist would hate it tbh. im kinda in the middle. its alt music like ghost, sleep etc.
I went there with two of my friends. One is a huge SOAD fan and the other is a major Slipknot fan. I'm not too big on either. My taste in metal is definitely more hardcore and old school than my friends. waited in the merch line for three f-ing hours. While waiting in line I saw paleface Swiss playing. Not a huge fan of modern beatdown, (but I mean, sometimes you just get pissed off and beatdown is probably the angriest genre of music out there). I had to hand a friend my money to buy me a shirt cause I didn't want to miss primus. The bands that I saw. 1. slaughter to prevail Was great, really wholesome (also good mosh pits) 2. primus I just love how weird primus is, and wynonas big brown beaver is always great 3. Alice In Chains Actually a damn shame. Started late and ended early. My dad is a huge Alice In Chains fan, so I had always heard their songs during car rides and around the house. 4. Danny elfman Really bizarre, but I mean I do like psychedelic stuff so it was pretty cool. 5. BMTH Like I said, my taste is definitely more old school, so I personally don't really get it. 6. Slipknot A gateway drug. I'm already deeper into the metal scene, so I don't really listen to them 7. SOAD Really banged my head to this one. I'm not a huge fan, but I enjoy it. Other bands I wanted to see, like knocked loose and core orange, I wasn't able to see because I had to stay with my group. Cause this place is so damn crowded that getting lost is a real problem. All in all I'm glad I experienced it, but I would've rather gone to 70000 tons of metal. (Lich king was their and I f-ing missed it)
I went, and the only time schedule I had a problem with was with Kublia Khan. Everything else was amazing. Got there early and saw all the bands I wanted to see. That being said. It was worth it 🔥
At least, by your telling, it was a bit of improvement over last year, but there are still areas for improvement. I'm guessing that last year was growing pains and they overcame some of their mistakes from last year. Spreading some of the bands out over two or even three days would make sense, though I can see the other side where labor costs (staffing security, concessions, etc.) play a factor (and, I'd guess that Vegas has some higher than usual labor costs compared to most cities).
i've never been a fan of live shows unless a metal band is really entertaining to watch with how they headbang and mosh around like korn, errorzone, slipknot. bonus points if some band members have dreadlocks, they always headbang the best. while i get that "seeing it live is different", it's about the music at the end of the day so i always just listen to the studio albums.
It's always fun to see metal festivals going smooth. It's so easy to associate metal with chaos, it would made one think this is going to be hell. While this one was not perfect, it seemed to be very well organized.
I was pissed that Loathe got cut short due to sound guys taking forever and cutting into their set time, but overall it was much better and the bands were vocal about how pleased they were this year compared to last year. Loathe's vocalist asked us to boo the sound guys because they weren't allowed to finish their set. Also, there were two moments in their set that their microphones were turned down extremely low. When Have a Nice Life started playing, they didn't adjust the overpoweringly loud microphone volume until 2 songs into the set. SNW still had sound issues, but not nearly as bad as last year. Progress is progress I guess
I got my phone stolen and I’m pretty sure it was one the security guards bcuz he wouldn’t let me go backstage to look at the lost phones but once I talked to a different one they gladly let me go back there.
The spinning stage is hilarious and also kinda genius. One super band-dense festival I went to had stages that were like really long so one band would be playing on one half of the stage while the next band was setting up on the other half.
BMTH is Metal. They do heavier stuff than most metal bands do sometimes... But I respect the Opinion of you not liking the sound... Its a taste thing I guess...
I am a guy who liked BMTH in 2007, dipped off in 2013 after Sempiternal, and returned only late last year. I enjoy them as a band with their new and experimental stuff and I wouldn't say they're metal either but their music isn't completely unlistenable (outside of Music To Listen To...)
It was awesome for me. Me and my 13yo son got to see 11 bands that we like. I do agree the sets are short, but it’s a tricky balance. I’d love to have longer sets, but Getting a taste of so many bands was also cool. 🤷♂️
the bass was super heavy at the main stages it was godly my first festival and i enjoyed it but mind you i did get vip and stayed at the main stages for the most part
As a TRUE Chainhead, I refuse & will always refuse to see AIC live without Layne, for NOT AIC without him. I've seen every band that played at SNW that I bang🤘to already, & most circa 2007 + full shows, so this metalhead is grateful I didn't go, just to blow a shit ton of $ I dont really have. But, I will definitely be at Layne's memorial this year, & already got tickets (now sold out) & flights booked, which I chose over this or any other summer spending this year (havent been since 2012, was also at the 1st 2002, & in 2009). DEFINITELY made the right choice 🤘🤘🤘
We got so extremely lucky we bypassed the front line. I literally just walking to the main entrance, took us five minutes to get in and we arrived at the same time as you did. We went straight for the stage got left barricade position and stayed there for six hours!!! we made friends with a security guard and he actually let us into VIP. It was pretty awesome.
i was at SNW and it was my first metal festival! as a young metalhead, i don’t get to go to shows too much just bc of how expensive they are..but man i’m glad i got to go to this one. despite waiting in line for merch for abt 2 hrs..and sitting maybe a total of 30 mins the whole day..i had a BLAST!!! only issue was at the end, slipknot is my fav band..but SOAD is my sisters..so i had to leave slipknot early only to get shitty spots for SOAD.. and it broke my fkn heart! i know better now though, no merch, AND PICK ONE BIG BAND!! i even got to meet brian from rock feed , so i still had an awesome time :)
I was there and had a great time, but my biggest beef with the festival was the TV screens. I'm 4 miles away from the stage so on the TV screens show the band so I can see them and not some techno outline filter on them. They with crazy with it on SlipKnot but some other bands they just showed the band playing with out that filter on it. I would like to see it be two days instead of just one day.
someone said it before but if they expanded it over 2 or 3 days (and kept the same number of bands) this festival has a lot of potential. having all this on one day is insane.
They DO need more merch vendors too, at least like double what they had in 23'
That’s what they need to do
@@y2kboris186 I can see some other problems arrive like camping/residence.
@@PreFXDesigns I kinda feel like that's a given for most of these types of music festivals though, kind've always has been...
Yeah they really should make it a 3 day thing. That’s the only reason I didn’t go…
I used to gatekeep bands a lot and dismissed them as "pop".
This!!! It’s the duality of being a music lover
I used to be like that until I heard count your blessings
Don’t get the whole chat around “gate keeping” shit was the same 20 years ago “and probably 20 years prior” when I started to listen to metal and going to gigs. Get a thick skin and tough it out. If you get discouraged by a few old heads then music is probably the least of your issues.
@@enduser8410 "heavy they bacame" bro they became softer as time went on
@@allworksnew Agreed,... count your blessings was epic!
Because people in America are greedy and with the stupid inflation crisis it’s being exacerbated
$18 for a drink. A beer. Cocktails $25+
With the US economy in inflation everyone is price gouging even more
There are some REALLY affordable festivals in the US but they don’t spend millions on advertising, thus they don’t have to pass those expenses along to the consumer via higher ticket prices.
If you think that's bad, please look at Aussie ticket prices. It usually costs 3x as much or more than what you'd pay in America.
BabyMetal put on an amazing show. Like them or not, their vocalist is a force on stage.
Strong comment to profile pic ratio. LOL
Lorna Shore's Will Ramos is 100 times better. Go check him out. 💯💯
@victorgallagher6312 Hell yeah man, Lorna Shore is fire
Saw them at a concert a few years ago. Didn't really know what to expect but was blown away by their performance. Sound was great, he energy was through the roof, and everyone was going nuts. Only complaint was that they were the headliner of that show and only played a little more than an hour.
I mean I'd hope so, that's what they're hired to do
I actually worked SNW On the main stage as an audio tech. You didn't miss out with Lorna Shore, trust me. Wind was so high we had to drop the PA. And most (6 out of 9 on main stage) had thier own sound guy. All we did was make sure they didn't go over the dB limit. as winds change so does the sound. We added an extra set of delays this year so thats why it sounded sooo good even when you were that far out
what does "added an extra set of delays" mean?
@@AlexCollyard probably the best sounding show i've heard of them.
As a bmth fan I don’t care that you don’t like them as you’re entitled to your opinion

I think people who spent most of their time in one area probably enjoyed it the most
Next years lineup:
S.O.A.D. TOOL
Evanesance. NIN. John Carpenter. Korn
And more............
Limp bizkit over tool
@@jamespallo4400 Oh hell yes. Limp followed by Combi.

dude that sounds fuckin sick- S.O.A.D. and TOOL, Ev and NIN? amazing! wish this guy had covered APC in the video though, they're good showmen and a good band in general when you just look at those albums that aren't covers of their albums.
Spinning stages is awesome and makes so much sense. Thanks for taking us on this journey!
I don’t know how Americans can stand in that huge crowd and, jump around in the moshpits in that blazing sun 🥵
we enjoy pain
@@emilybeauvais4164 Suffer or suffer... at least you have the stacked festivals
That day Vegas was really nice, it was 26 C (79F) with 10 MPH (16 KPH) winds keeping everyone cool. It wasn't that hot it felt really nice.
Yeah stay inside pussy.
Well wasn't much "Metal" there to begin with...
This was also my first festival, I could barley stand during System of a down, it was awesome
Swans were easily the loudest thing there
ive been doing nothing but thinking about their set all week. mind blowing
I'm so glad you experienced Swans! Yes, they and Spiritualized are probably the loudest of all time for me.
As it should. Still prefer 'em in smaller spaces but I take what I can get these days.
Pretty funny and mind blowing being surrounded by metal and industrial bands
If even a small handful of people saw them and went what the fuck, it was a good choice. First time I saw Dan Deacon, I had that experience too.
Primus really deserves a bigger name on the poster
That's right, because Primus sucks.
It also sucked that their gear got delayed.
Mad respect for giving Danny his dues. Man is a legend. Blew my mind at the show.
Woah woah woah, Danny Fukking Elfman?? He's made the best music to the most iconic movies! I'd love to see him ngl
It's a crime with concerts lasting only 20-30 minutes. Definately should be over 2-3 days with a line-up like that.
Those things are Lifesavers.
any recommendations??
@@jadered9514 after having done a bunch of research I went with Anker. there are all sorts of different sizes and capacities out there I tried to pick one that seemed reliable but also would easily fit in my pocket / similar size as my phone.
I once had a panick attack because I waited hours for a show and my phone died right before the doors opened, luckily someone in the queue gave me their power bank and now I have one. Bring a power bank to any show and festivals, if your phone suddenly died you have something to charge it.
@@alexdoorn234 oh man, and if you had your tickets on your phone I can only imagine! I’d be freaking out too!
Bmth one of the goats of metal 🥱
Facts
Sick New world kicked ass i didn’t go in 2023 but 2024 holy shit I rocked the fuck out of someone in that Kublai Khan pit
I WAS THERE. KUBLAI KHAN WAS SO MUCH FUNN
Dude I LOVE Danny Elfman’s music
Skipped it and saw Lamb of God at the House of Blues the next day. Best show ever at a perfect venue. Loved it.
Randy Blythe wearing a Killing Joke shirt is pretty cool. Between Metallica, Godflesh, Dave Grohl, and many others praising them over the years, Killing Joke really do seem to be "Your favorite band's favorite band".
Wait, what? You said four hundred dollars for a day festival?😅
I pay 310 euro's for 4 days at Graspop Festival. Get to see 3/4 times as many bands. Only band I would really like to see is SAOD, the others bands regulary visit Europe as well. So 400 dollars is really expensive
Great video! I'm actually the guy in the "With Sympathy" shirt right in front of you during the Combichrist set!
Gate keeper lol
BMTH in MY opinion kicks ass
I saw them at Download 2023 and Rock am Ring 2023
Time went by a lot faster by having the two main stages right next to each other.
The day went by so quickly
This is the Way.
Purchased the VIP entrance, and it was worth every penny. The shows the infrastructure, all the vendings. The line up was amazing. Met some newer bands like Lohna Shore, Spiritbox, BabyMeta, and SleepToken, all of tem top notch.
I'm seriously considering the 2025
Every time a major festival happens, I’m on standby to hear your review. You never disappoint. Thank you!
I love how mixed into a nu metal fest there were like a half dozen shoegaze bands💀💀
i had a blast but i would never do it again. the biggest issue i had was the conflicting schedule.
Thank you! My next one is Milwaukee Metalfest! Enjoy MDF 🤘
I'll make sure to watch Dark Insanity at Tolminator! See you there!
Maaannn, I remember listening to Lords Of Acid back in the 90's, well... on acid.
I've always wanted to bang on acid with lords of acid playing
Good times 🙂
Lately? BMTH have been around since 2004...
I was there in 2023 and this year and both times were a blast! 2023’s was in May in the blazing hot sun but it was still amazing! This year i had a blast and the weather was great since it was a month earlier than last year and a lot cooler. To each his own. It’s what you make it!
Combichrist is one of the best live bands ever. They bring it every time.
i went and i honestly wish i was into the bands more😭 i only wanted to go for like 4 or 5 bands and after the festival i got into sooo much more bands that played there and got more into bands i saw that i just didnt know much songs from. the trip was very expensive for me as i live in texas, and the line sadly made me miss Kittie, but it was amazing overall. i just severely wish i saw and was into more, but was surprised with the weather! it was a life changer for me. if only i had the money i would go to 2025’s SNW. during this SNW i was barely into actual metal and just into the popular stuff, but MAN im more disappointed in myself more than anything, id do anything right now to go back in time and relive it ❤️
I saw a lot of bands!
Loved it!
Seen alot of people complain Swans was too loud which I mean sure they arent a band Id expect at Sick New World but still
Even when I was young I didnt have the patience or stamina for festivals. Half the time the people I want to see are playing side shows around the festival dates, so I try and catch those.
I gatecrashed so I got around to 18 sets. Had an amazing day. With a little planning you can get the most out of it
Saw your video on last years festival among other peoples videos, and i was ready to be disappointed by this festival or at the very least fustrated.
Bands i saw were:
Kittie
Paleface Swiss
Lorna Shore
Ice Nine Kills
Baby Metal
Bad Omens
Loathe
Kublai Khan
Drain
Motionless in White
Knocked Loose
Static Dress
Bring Me The Horizon
Slipknot
System of a Down
No, it did not suck to me (but I had vip and we went in early to catch Kittie).

That would put this festival in a different league and provide a better experience in my opinion.
the diablo stage was litteraly wild that crowd was lit and i think it was the best part of the event easily.
i stayed at siren stage from 6 to midnight. got to knock out like 5 bucket list bands in one night. only issue was when fucking lameass polyphia cut into slowdives time and fucked up their soundcheck 😭
I'm going to be seeing lamb of god later this year with Kerry king, so definitely hype for that. Also seeing knotfest.
I had a fucking blast! 🤘🏽🔥 …feet were KILLING me for like 2days after tho lol
Im a few months away from turning 15 and this was my first ever festival! Seeing all of my favorite bands was so unreal. The smell and heat was definitely something to get used to lol but it became enjoyable after that 😅 (especially SOAD)
haha i'm surprised you hated bring me the horizon so much, i'm pretty elitist when it comes to metal but i can't help but like that band and the setlist they played here is pretty good i think
bring me the horizon are a weird band for me. loved their earlier stuff up until serp. its going away from its metal genre which i can agree on. some songs are okay from new stuff and they dont really belong in any pop show. its popmetal imo and olny is used to hanging in the deathcore scene so i assume thats why he wants more pits etc. its not uncommon for a artist to ask for this tho. saw it at architec, vomit fort and bmht.
i understand how alot of elitist would hate it tbh. im kinda in the middle. its alt music like ghost, sleep etc.
you say 400$ for a 1 day festival ?
WTF
There’s no way!!! One day for $400 is theft but I guess it’s because of the sheer number of bands.
1. slaughter to prevail
Was great, really wholesome (also good mosh pits)
2. primus
I just love how weird primus is, and wynonas big brown beaver is always great
3. Alice In Chains
Actually a damn shame. Started late and ended early. My dad is a huge Alice In Chains fan, so I had always heard their songs during car rides and around the house.
4. Danny elfman
Really bizarre, but I mean I do like psychedelic stuff so it was pretty cool.
5. BMTH
Like I said, my taste is definitely more old school, so I personally don't really get it.
6. Slipknot
A gateway drug. I'm already deeper into the metal scene, so I don't really listen to them
7. SOAD
Really banged my head to this one.
It was worth it 🔥
I saw Slipknot twice, an Ozzfest set and at Red Rocks for tattoo the earth. The RR show was killer great live act. Both times had all og members BTW .
Definitely going next year 😊
It's always fun to see metal festivals going smooth. It's so easy to associate metal with chaos, it would made one think this is going to be hell. While this one was not perfect, it seemed to be very well organized.
It was a lot of fun for sure, but I was unprepared for that Vegas sun and I almost fainted from how intense the heat was 😅
I was pissed that Loathe got cut short due to sound guys taking forever and cutting into their set time, but overall it was much better and the bands were vocal about how pleased they were this year compared to last year.
You really should’ve checked out Better Lovers, man they CARRIED this festival.
9:09 That's us with the wheelchair!!! Omg that's insane you were so close 🤯
Another funny & helpful video. When your camera pulled back - wow. Nice to see what this was really like and hear a useful review.
on a whim I got in line early and Im glad I did.. I didnt miss spirtbox, Lorna Shore, or even nonpoint and kittie :)
Off topic, but what did you use to record your video? That zoom is insane. What phone do you have?
BMTH is Metal. They do heavier stuff than most metal bands do sometimes... But I respect the Opinion of you not liking the sound... Its a taste thing I guess...
I am a guy who liked BMTH in 2007, dipped off in 2013 after Sempiternal, and returned only late last year. I enjoy them as a band with their new and experimental stuff and I wouldn't say they're metal either but their music isn't completely unlistenable (outside of Music To Listen To...)
How could it suck with such an amazing lineup
It was awesome for me. Me and my 13yo son got to see 11 bands that we like. I do agree the sets are short, but it’s a tricky balance. I’d love to have longer sets, but Getting a taste of so many bands was also cool. 🤷♂️
Thanks for the review. I'm glad you enjoyed most of it. I think I'll stick to music themed cruises.
6:23, This isn't the first time I've heard of this system at a festival. Apparently, Rock in Rio '85 had that system in place.
the bass was super heavy at the main stages it was godly my first festival and i enjoyed it but mind you i did get vip and stayed at the main stages for the most part
