True. But many people say it as a way to diminish Jesus rather than to praise him. They’re saying He was merely human and merely a role model. Thus, he couldn’t have been perfect, so his crucifixion could not have paid for the sins of others, just His own. And if He’s not truly God, then his death didn’t erase our sins and his resurrection didn’t win eternal life in heaven for believers.

a sad example is nietczhe (cant even spell it right bruh) with his criticism of christianity, basically saying that the entire enterprise is anti-human, might need to read his books to buy into that blasphemy (so you could argue that in his philosophy Jesus is the opposite of a good role model)

I find it interesting that a religion founded by Satan (if Allah is comparable to Satan) would teach many qualities Christianity likewise approves of, like the importance of marriage, dressing modestly, having one god, being against homosexuality and so on.

The Bible explains the situation in the 11th chapter of the Apostle Paul’s second letter to the church in Corinth in which he describes false teachers: “And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. Therefore it is not surprising if his ministers also disguise themselves as ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds.” And I suspect that you’d admit that the most powerful lies contain a grain of truth.

Nope. Christianity works the best in satisfying *the lowest* common denominator.
The way the question is framed goes like this:
If you could choose a religion for the people with whom you would be surrounded with, which religion would you choose for them?
Meaning, christianity being the best choice say more about the people who adhere to it than the religion. As in, I would like that the lowest common denominator would be spirotually mature enough to accept hinduism or buddhism (= hinduism for advanced), but unfortunately, those two are too advanced for the lowest common denominator (e.g., Wood: "Hinduism or come crap" + "hinduism is weird").

The Aramaic word for God is "Alaha". It's the word Isa PBUH used. Sounds familiar?
Written without the confusing vowels it is written A-L-H ܐ ܠܗܐ (alap-lamed-he) as found in Targum or in Tanakh (Daniel, Ezra), Syriac Aramaic (Peshitta), reduced from the Arabic original (of which Aramaic is a dialect continuum as will be explained) it is written in the Arabic script 'A-L-L-H' (Aleph-Lam-Lam-Ha) add an A before the last H for vocalization.
The word God in another rendition in Hebrew ʾĕlōah is derived from a base ʾilāh, an Arabic word, written without confusing vowel it is A-L-H in the Arabic script, pronounced ilah not eloah. Hebrew dropped the glottal stop and mumbled it, aramic mumbled a little less and it became elaha. Infact both are written written A-L-H in Arabic, it is pronounced i in Arabic and not A because it is an Alef with hamza below (إ أ ) They are two different forms of Alef. And it mean "a god", it is the non definitive form of A-L-L-H, in which the Alef is without a glottal stop/hamza,(ا), but this kind of nuance is lost in the dialect continua.
infact "YHWH" itself is an Arabic word as discussed by Professor. Israel Knohl (Professor of Biblical studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem) in the paper" YHWH: The Original Arabic Meaning of the Name."
jesus as his name is often misspelled due to the lack of the ayin sound in Greek, which was rendered to Iesous, coupling the nearest sound to ayin, same letter found in 'Iraq', which sounds entirely different in Arabic form 'Iran' in Arabic, with the -ous Greek suffix that Greeks typically add to their names 'HerodotOS', 'PlotinUS', 'AchelOUS' and later mumbled into a J. The yeshua rendition of Isa (his name in the Qur'an) PBUH which is purported to be the name of Jesus is KNOWN to had been taken from greek. Western Syriac also use "Isho". Western Aramaic (separate from Syriac which is a dialect of Eastern Aramaic) use "Yeshu". Western Syriac has been separate from Western Aramaic for about 1000 years. And sounds don't even match up. Syriac is a Christian liturgical language yet the four letters of the name of Jesus «ܝܫܘܥ» [ = Judeo-Babylonian Aramaic: «ישוע» ] sounds totally different in West vs East Syriac, viz. vocalized akin to Christian Arabic, Hebrew, Aramaic «ܝܶܫܽܘܥ» (Yēšūʿ) in West Syriac, but pronounced more akin to Muslim Arabic Quran character name Isa in East Syriac «ܝܑܼܫܘܿܥ» (ʾĪšōʿ). The reason for this confusion is their dropping of phonemes. Only someone that has no idea what the letters are or how they sound would have a name ending in a pharyngeal fricative like the ayin, if it were to be used in a name it would have had to be in the beginning, thus the Arabic rendition is the correct one. An example in English is how the appended -d is a common error amongst the English pronouncing Gaelic names. The name Donald arose from a common English mispronunciation of the Gaelic name Donal. Just how it is with donal becoming donald and the two becoming distinct and the original being regarded as something seperate so too did Isa PBUH turn to Iesous turn to jesus and when they tried going back to the original they confused it for yeshua ( ysu is how it is actually written) for Isa PBUH ( 3'eysah )
Schlözer in his preparation for the Arabia expedition in 1781 coined the term Semitic language:
"From the Mediterranean to the Euphrates, from Mesopotamia to Arabia ruled one language, as is well known. Thus Syrians, Babylonians, Hebrews, and Arabs were one people (ein Volk). Phoenicians (Hamites) also spoke this language, which I would like to call the Semitic (die Semitische)." -Before Boas: The Genesis of Ethnography and Ethnology in the German By Han F. Vermeulen.
He was only half right though, Arabic is the only corollary to "proto-semitic", infact the whole semitic classification is nonsensical as will be shown.
"protosemetic" Alphabet (28), Arabic Alphabet (28), Latin transliteration, hebrew (22)
      𐩠 𐩡 𐩢 𐩣 𐩤 𐩥 𐩦 𐩧 𐩨 𐩩 𐩪 𐩫 𐩬 𐩭 𐩮 𐩰 𐩱 𐩲 𐩳 𐩴 𐩵 𐩶 𐩷 𐩸 𐩹 𐩺 𐩻 𐩼

      ط, ظ (ṭ/teth, ẓ) merged into only ṭ/teth consonant remaining
      ص, ض (ṣ, ḍ/Tsad ) merged into only ḍ/Tsad consonant remaining
ع, غ (3'ayn, Ghayn) merged into a reducted ayin consonant remaining
ت, ث (t/taw, th) merged into only t/taw consonant remaining
The reason why the protoS alphabet here is 28 and not 29, is because the supposed extra letter is simply a س written in a different position, but it was shoehorned to obfuscated. In Arabic letter shapes are different depending on whether they are in the beginning , middle or end of a word.
As a matter of fact, all of the knowledge needed for deciphering ancient texts and their complexity was derived from the Qur'an. It was by analyzing the syntactic structure of the Qur'an that the Arabic root system was developed. This system was first attested to in Kitab Al-Ayin, the first intralanguage dictionary of its kind, which preceded the Oxford English dictionary by 800 years. It was through this development that the concept of Arabic roots was established and later co-opted into the term 'semitic root,' allowing the decipherment of ancient scripts. In essence, they quite literally copied and pasted the entirety of the Arabic root. Hebrew had been dead, as well as all the other dialects of Arabic, until being 'revived' in a Frankensteinian fashion in the 18th and 19th centuries.
The entire region spoke basically the same language, with mumbled dialect continuums spread about, and Arabic is the oldest form from which all these dialects branched off. As time passed, the language gradually became more degenerate,
Language; When one looks at the actual linguistics, one will find that many were puzzled by the opposite, that is, how the other "semetic" languages were more "evolved" than Arabic, while Arabic had archaic features, not only archaic compared to bibilical Hebrew, Ethiopic, "Aramaic" contemporary "semetic" languages, but even archaic compared to languages from ancient antiquity; Ugaritic, Akkadain. What is meant here by Archaic is not what most readers think, it is Archaic not in the sense that it is simple, but rather that it is complex (think Latin to pig Latin or Italian or Old English, which had genders and case endings to modern English), not only grammatically, but also phonetically; All the so called semitic languages are supposed to have evolved from protosemetic, the Alphabet for protosemitic is that of the so called Ancient South Arabian (which interestingly corresponds with the traditional Arabic origins account) and has 28 Phonemes. Arabic has 28 phonemes. Hebrew has 22, same as Aramaic, and other "semitic" languages. Now pause for a second and think about it, how come Arabic, a language that is supposed to have come so late has the same number of letters as a language that supposedly predates it by over a millennium (Musnad script ~1300 BCE). Not only is the glossary of phonemes more diverse than any other semitic language, but the grammar is more complex, containing more cases and retains what's linguists noted for its antiquity, broken plurals. Indeed, a linguist has once noted that if one were to take everything we know about languages and how they develop, Arabic is older than Akkadian (~2500 BCE).
And then the Qur'an appeared with the oldest possible form of the language thousands of years later. This is why the Arabs of that time were challenged to produce 10 similar verses, and they couldn't. People think it's a miracle because they couldn't do it, but I think the miracle is the language itself. They had never spoken Arabic, nor has any other language before or since had this mathematical precision. And when I say mathematical, I quite literally mean mathematical.
Now how is it that the Qur'an came thousands of years later in an alphabet that had never been recorded before, and in the highest form the language had ever taken?
The creator is neither bound by time nor space, therefore the names are uttered as they truly were, in a language that is lexically, syntactically, phonemically, and semantically older than the oldest recorded writing. In fact, that writing appears to have been a simplified version of it. Not only that, but it would be the equivalent of the greatest works of any particular language all appearing in one book, in a perfect script and in the highest form the language could ever take. It is so high in fact, that it had yet to be surpassed despite the fact that over the last millennium the collection of Arabic manuscripts when compared on word-per-word basis in Western Museums alone, when they are compared with the collected Greek and Latin manuscripts combined, the latter does not constitute 1 percent of the former as per German professor Frank Griffel, in addition all in a script that had never been recorded before. Thus, the enlightenment of mankind from barbarism and savagery began, and the age of reason and rationality was born from its study.
God did bring down the Qur’an, Mohamed is his Messenger.

      2. That's not how the BIble says that people come to faith. There are simultaneously commands to believe in Christ and passages that proclaim that faith is a gift from God. Nowhere does it say that studying Jesus leads to repentance or worship or whatever. James 2:19; "You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder."

His reason is very similar to mine. Actually what drew me to Christianity is when I thought about the Ten Commandments, how perfect the world would be if everyone would just follow those rules all the time. But since none of us are perfect and humans are obviously flawed, people should, rather than follow their own moral standards, model themselves after someone who is perfect. Christianity always seemed the most sensible option.

    • @hydraph4843
      @hydraph4843 Місяць тому +1

"how perfect the world would be if everyone would just follow those rules all the time".
I disagree. Out of these ten, 3 are just relating to worshipping the right god correctly (which obviously means nothing to everyone who doesn't worship this particular god), some are questionable to say the least, like how it tells you to honour your father and mother, but what if they are abusers? Or how it says don't steal, but what if you need to in order to survive? Or murder, but obviously Christianity makes excuses for that as does typical societies everywhere like in times of war.
So basically, 7/10 can be somewhat applied to all. There are a lot more than 7 social issues.
Obviously there are more than 10 rules in the Bible to address all these other issues, but the 10 commandments is really nothing exceptional and I don't get why it is seen as such

    • @aaronharlow2137

@@hydraph4843 From someone who knew almost nothing about the Bible at the time, it was very convincing.
"Love thy neighbor as thyself" and "do unto others" so, your exception of abuse woudn't apply, because if everyone abides by that, no one would be abusive (we woudn't be abusive to ourselves, right?). Also, no one would be in a position to where they need tto steal, because if we love everyone as ourselves, we would be helping, caring, looking out for one another.
The commandments against murder, lying, stealing, cheating, dishonesty... think about it. Everything wrong with humans is rooted in the fact we cannot refrain from doing those things. If we could, there would be no need for police or a legal system. No lawyers, no court battles, and we could all just leave our doors unlocked, trust what others say without having to think twice, and feel safe.
And yes, worshipping something other than God is objectively harmful and unhealthy. Idols aren't just golden calves. They are also money, your social media, celebrities... we shoulldn't be worshipping those things. We should only worship God, someone who is not a flawed mortal, that instructs us to do good to others and live honestly and fairly. Following our own selves and making up our own rules does not work out well. Prisons are full of people who do that.

@hydraph4843 of course, there's much more. And when I read the Bible in full everything else fell into place. As for homosexuality, I read it as God taking it as an insult, defiling His creation. It's like working hard on a painting to give someone as a gift and they use it as a napkin. Men and women are made in God's image. He has both masculine and feminine qualities. So a man and a woman uniting completes the image of God. I probably won't convince you, as it's quite a controversial topic, but this is just how I interpret it. The important thing is that just because God calls something a sin, doesn't mean you should hate that person or treat them with contempt, since we all sin.

      It just is.
We cannot empathise with God, because God is unknowable, alien in how God thinks, so I find it hard to understand how much these things really matter to God, and how wrong they are.

      Alright, I'll bite.
I have a problem with the notion that you must follow him or face eternal damnation.
If you are truly worthy of being loved or followed, people will follow or love you on their own.
I would argue there shouldn't have to be a punishment attached to that.
Also, I disagree on what Jesus said about divorce and marriage. I think divorce should be permitted in more scenarios, and that marriage shouldn't just be between a man and a woman (and of course, that being a cis man and woman).
      And this entire quote:
" “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 And a person's enemies will be those of his own household. 37 Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.".
      (Matthew 10:34-37)
Like he literally here is outright saying he isn't bringing peace.
He wants people divided. And he wants people to love him above their own family, which to me is unthinkable. I can understand loving him yes, heck, even on the same extent as family, but more than your own family? That just sounds narcissistic (though tbf I get that impression from the Christian god throughout literally the whole Bible).
I will be completely honest, I had a better impression of Jesus before reading things like that he said

@@hydraph4843 Your protests are examples of someone really stretching and purposefully taking him out of context to make up a criticism. this is about as valid as claiming he didn't exist.
The idea of following him to 'or face damnation' could mean multiple things. The idea that following in the ethics of christ leads to a better place where as rejecting him leads you and everyone around you to hell. Maybe not a literal place you go when you die, but a life of hell. And his warning to follow his example is the exact thing that even Destiny was pointing to as why he would choose christ. Because those ethics work better then anything else we have had in history.
      "(Matthew 10:34-37)"
That passage isn't about what his intentions are, it is about what is going to happen as a result of him telling the truth. Ever here the expression “No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.” Plato same concept here. If you take issue with Jesus's take on this you must also take issue with Plato, Aristotle and the other Greek philosophers considered the founders of secular ethics. Or do you just cherry pick where convenient?
"And he wants people to love him above their own family, which to me is unthinkable. I can understand loving him yes, heck, even on the same extent as family, but more than your own family?"
The idea here is to value the transcendent more than the harsh reality of physical nature. If you love your family more than anything and something bad happens to them; how would you stay a good person if you valued them above everything else? see the problem with putting the highest value on things that are perishable and prone to breaking, dying or failing you? If you value your family putting christ first is better for them anyway; that is the point. It isn't narcissism it is a methodology for overcoming the nihilistic harshness of reality. You have to focus your aim on something transcendent; but a abstract transcendent concept is pretty hard to focus on; so if that is instead of an abstract concept but a person, you have a much easier time focusing on it. And that is true whether or not christ existed and whether or not he was divine.
"I will be completely honest, I had a better impression of Jesus before reading things like that he said"
given your interpretation of the passage from Matthew I am assuming you did not read his words with much concern to context or comprehension. You completely miss the point of those words, you probably completely missed the point of nearly everything he said; likely because that is the conclusion you wanted to come to.
I don't think most atheists, or even anti-Christian bigots would agree with your take.
But I will be honest, I don't think I ever heard anyone call Jesus himself narcissitic; that is a new one. Considering how often he defers to worship of the father over himself means your criticism is just wrong. But it is a new one I had not heard.

@@hydraph4843 1. Jesus is clearly worthy to be followed, otherwise his story would have ended around 30 AD. He did something that nobody else in the history of mankind did. He sacrificed his life and let himself be torured in the most brutal way for mankind, even though we didn't deserve it at all. He did it, because he loves us. He loved us first, even thought hardly anyone knew him (Jesus came when the Israelites were lost, the religious leaders were very corrupt). Our only job is to love him back and love other people the way he loved us. Why would people who rejected him get to be with him in his kingdom of heaven? They don't even want that.
      2. Marriage is a promise to God. You vow that you will protect the other person until you die, in good times and in bad times. You should expect to never divorce the person, unless the person breaks the promise. Marriage is a holy institution and should be treated as such. Do you want to be the child of parents who are happily married and faithful to each other until they die, or do you want to be the child of parents who change their spouse as often as their smartphone? Jesus is clearly right.
      3. You are totally misunderstanding this quote. This quote is the reason why you are living a free life today, because if the disciples of Jesus wouldn't have defended him in this way, Christianity wouldn't exist. People really do hate you for loving Jesus. So the disciples had to go against their families and the institutions. Many died in the process. It's the same way in many countries around the world today. Christianity is the most persecuted religion, thx to Islam and communism. So if you don't stand with Jesus, his message will not grow and one day disappear in your region. Many Ex Muslims have to do exactly what is discribed in the quote, and they get disowned by their families or even honour killed. If people wouldn't do this, tyrans would succed. It's the islamic perception of peace that you are defending in this context (submission). Again Jesus is clearly right.
I am lucky to be born into a Christian family, but if I wasn't, I would have to choose Jesus over my family, in case they don't accept my beliefs. Otherwise I wouldn't be worthy of him.

Just simply have a honest heart to heart conversation with God. Tell Him you’re sorry, want to be forgiven and live with Him forever. And most importantly confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. By doing this you’re confessing and accepting that God is the only way, that he took the punishment for your sins and by this you are now forgiven and His. I would also suggest finding a church with good sound doctrine and loving people and get baptized. English is an inconsistent language quite often. That includes many names as well.

The best thing that would ever happen to me is when I finally meet my Jesus in Heaven on that day. How beautiful that day would be.
I know I have a family when I leave this planet. Jesus Is waiting for me.

That answer was crazy lmao. I love how we cant run from truth. Watching people concede, even in this way is satisfying.

But nothing about what he said was him conceding. He never said that Christianity was based in truth or that god really exists. He only stated that the character of jesus, as portrayed in the bible, can be used as a good role model. This holds true for many fictional characters. At the end of the day he's still atheist, which just like all (or most) religions is built on unreasonable faith. The only rational choice is agnosticism.

@@leonm.8865 Ok.. He "picked" Jesus. Also, I said, "even in this way", because I recognize that I am simply being a "Fan Boy" for Christ. Jesus is my guy. If you want to debate, lets not start with my fan boy outburst. 😅

@@writteng haha no worries. I just saw a lot of people writing similar things and got irritated, because it wasn't what I interpreted from Destiny's statement. Yours was just the random comment I let some frustration out. I also didn't mean to attack Christianity or any other religion for that matter, luckily everyone has the right to choose their own religion and I hope it stays that way for the coming future.

David's really gifted! Breathtaking way of telling evidences! He's like the best film directors. I'm not Christian but I admit he's beyond cleverness. May be Christianity is the way I'm still working on it.

All find what they truly seek, so may your search be honest. If truth is your goal, God will meet you more than halfway.

Despite being atheist, he’s always spoke of going to a Jesuit high school as a really positive formative experience growing up, so this isn’t too surprising.
