Does the World Need Christianity? Why Atheists Are Waking Up

- The New Atheists convinced millions of people that if we abandon religion, the world will become more rational, more scientific, and more logical. Here we are after more than two decades of mass conversions to atheism, and how are the predictions working out for everyone?

I too put myself in the same pitiful existence. Part of it I can blame on COVID, part on lack of effort (as I had to focus on work to ensure I had enough to live), bust mostly on that spiral of isolation and self-isolation. Found an excellent & reverent Catholic parish nearby (about 15 minutes further than the one in town), now involved there. I went from 1 real and current friend to now 4 friends. And extending past that, half a dozen more on the cusp. And from no romantic prospects to 3+ in particular, from the same church.

Hypocrisy is something people can smell from miles away. Take for instance the jet setting climate folks or those who traveled and dined freely during the lockdowns from the flu of 2020. Militant atheists are only focused on hating Christ and God the Father, somehow everyone else gets a pass.

Just like lots of Abduls who declare that ex-Muslims now Christians are fake Muslims, so atheists likewise say the same about you.
You don’t need to prove to them your former atheism. Christ in you is the hope of glory.
And there are three points to the law of sowing and reaping:
1. You reap WHAT you sow (i.e. if you sow destruction, you won't be reaping constructs)
2. You reap LATER THAN you sowed (effects may not be felt immediately. It took time for Sweden to start to feel the pain from its social choices, but now they are beginning to.)
3. You reap MORE than you sowed (one seed bears barrels of fruit: one ideology destroys a world's worth of nations).

In Jesus Christ name, I pray. Amen.
When you are given what you want, it's God's direction.
When you don't get what you want, it's God's protection.
I shunned him for similar reasons. I was recently diagnosed with autism, which explains, for me, why my friendships and relationships have always been wafer thin. No matter what I asked for I felt I was denied by God. As difficult as it is to develop friendships and relationships for "regular" people, it was borderline impossible for me to not only do so, but also hold onto them. It also hindered my ability to hold down a career for myself because I struggled with autism everyday of my life without knowing it. All of this stopped me from having the things I yearned for in life, everything was extra hard and frustrating, and I was angry at God because of that. I just couldn't understand why.
Now, after being diagnosed, I realized I was being protected. Had "life" given me exactly what I wanted, there would be a pretty good chance I'd end up in a much worse situation, especially when a lot of others are so selfish and narcissistic these days. I'd be easily taken advantage of. God protected me from all of that. But my ego, generational privileges, ungratefulness, and the lack of humility I displayed blinded me from seeing this. From the negatives and the evil of the world, I began to see God much more clearly, and so I have returned to him and asked him for forgiveness. I want to learn how to have a relationship with him because I never actually tried. I spent my time asking him for stuff.

An more valid way to observe what I outlined is to simply watch laymen atheist debate this stuff. Like with Dillahunty vs Andrew, where Dillahunty used his opening statement not to condemn Christianity for being false but to lambast it for political issues. Dillahunty then got pissed and claimed Andrew had moved off topic (despite basically having the same opening Dillahunty did), then proceeded to use that to flee the debate (which Andrew decided to cover the refund).
The even more dumbfounding part is that the audience poll of MDD showed most believed that Dillahunty had won the debate. Dillahunty literally made the debate about butt stuff and cosmetic genitalia surgery, and somehow the mostly atheist audience of MDD thinks Andrew is wrong for following Matt's lead with the rejection of his presuppositions.

Empty religosity leaves people also empty. Eventually, they drift away, having no anchor. Only the genuine relationship with the living Christ keeps 'church' fulfilling.
The problem is most churches have become unbiblical and corrupt, look at most large mega churches filled with greed, it creates a massive problem with Christianity, then there's the churches having leaders commit crimes, the only true thing to follow is the bible and pray, because most churches are more a stumbling block.

What has also always bothered me about the new Atheists is their lack of consideration for the variation of human rationality/intelligence. Christianity provides a very sophisticated moral framework that has engaged the minds of the highest intellectuals whilst also appealing to the simple minded in a way they can understand. It has remained relevant for thousands of years across continents. The most successful path out of criminality and addiction is through religion, the greatet works of art have been borne out of religion. The greatest leaps in literacy came from the desire for people to read the Bible. It binds humanity together in all our differences of knowledge and ability.

That's so interesting to hear. I've had the opposite experience. I was never more depressed than when I was a Christian. @@Darksage5555 That's really unusual to not be depressed when leaving your belief in God behind. I've seen countless conversion stories where the person struggled terribly w/ anxiety and depression and only when they came to God, did they get set free and have peace. I've been saying this for a long time. When I was a teenager I was highly critical of anything religious. Ultra-liberal. Then, well, I look at the world now and think "damn... people were a lot more likeable when they had faith in something".
My fear is that something terrible, like say a political ideology will become a de-facto religion. The meaning Christianity gives people will have to be replaced somehow.
I've been noticing this too. I think it ultimately has to do with the fact that religion and belief in God ultimately has teeth. There's consequences for a life not well lived. When you push a purely material "me first" culture, this is what you get.
I was an atheist until about a year and a half ago. Now I'm reading Calvin, particularly his insights into how people often hold a conflated view of their own goodness and morality until they are confronted with the righteousness of God. In a strange way Islam is making Christianity stronger again. I think its the "You dont know what you have until its gone" thing. I was nominally Christian for a long time. Post 9/11 I started learning more about Islam from people like David and many others. One day I decided I need to learn more about my own religion. I am a much person because of Christianity.
Yeah but you got it wrong. Easter is about Jesus’ death and resurrection. That’s the celebration, not spring and new life. Christmas is Jesus’ birth not just feeling.
@@HopeKuhn No not really, Christmas isnt about the birth of Jesus for most people anymore. I said I miss it having feeling and meaning because of this. I think its lost this because its become more of a retail event and a big party instead of being about the symbolic birthday of Jesus. Thats the meaning bit. I dont think I'm wrong to have a good feeling about it. Buying stuff and getting drunk dont give you such a good feeling as remembering the birth of Jesus. Maybe its where I live but Easter ties into a much older pagan celebration of spring. In my climate anyway plants go dormant, appear to die, then start to come back. Giving the appearance of coming back to life around Easter time. Easter has become a commercial thing for most. Im just saying it could have more meaning than that. The rebirth of Jesus as well as life coming back all around us in spring. Yes I get it, but i dont get whats wrong about adding some personal interpretation that for me anyway adds significance to the events. Sorry you think ive broken some kind of rules. I dont think that attitude helps in bringing people into christianity. I think faith should be open to some kind of personal interpretation to the world around you. I used to think Atheist were blind in some area where believers found sense.
Now i see it is true..
I have found it to be the complete opposite. Atheists that I know tend to require things like proof; "Believers" often believe what they do in spite of it.
It's kind of silly, actually. Having a religion or losing a religion or not having a religion doesn't make someone automatically prone to this or that behavior... Correlation does not equal causation.
The religions of today are not what they were a century ago, nor were the religions of a century ago those of their founding.
As a life-long church attending Christian, I have never once been tempted by atheism. The atheists I have come across have been one and all inflexible and proud people. And often rude… My years have been marred by the increasing secularization of society, a deep grief has followed me through my life, for all we were continually losing and the increasing estrangement from our fellows. Now, I see in my neighborhood most have been divorced and not a few are estranged from their children and grandchildren. We share dinners with them in the old fashioned way. They still tease us about being protestants full of work ethic but our life is definitely fuller.
I'm sorry for the length of this post. But it's a story that I came up with that truly explains the situation of the West. You can call it a parable.
Once upon a time, a lion ruled over the forest. The animals feared him and dared not disobey him because they were scared of him.
The lion, over time, saw how the animals feared him. He decided that he no longer wanted to be feared, but loved. He opened up to the animals, vowing not to hurt them. He lifted all the restrictions he placed on the animals, accepting that the animals needed to live in happiness, not fear.
But when he did this, the animals started taking out their anger on him. They beat him, abused him, wounded him, and weakened him. As this was happening, a beast from another land came to the forest. The beast started convincing the animals that the lion was weak and had lost his power. The beast forcibly put down any animal that spoke against him and silenced them. Despite this, more and more animals believed that the beast was just another animal. He couldn't possibly be worse than the lion, right?
As more and more of the forest was ravaged by the beast, the animals realised something. The lion was protecting them. The restrictions were to protect them from the danger outside the forest. And even with the restrictions, the animals had more freedom than under the evil beast. With the lifting of the restrictions and the weakening of the lion, the beast had the perfect opportunity to take over and devour the forest.
How does the story end? Does the beast kill the lion and take over, ravaging the forest and subjugating all animals to his terror? Or do the animals rally in support of the lion while he makes a valiant stand against the beast?
If you didn't get it already, the lion is the Christian faith, the animals are Christians who lost their faith to atheism and wokeness, and the beast is the Islamic faith. How do you want the story to end?
Great story, all the words are important. Unfortunately the more words the less attention span, today.

David, I commented on another video you posted about your son who passed away and how cruel people were being despite the sadness of the situation. I mentioned how I have disabilities and yet accomplished many things in my life, to say never give up. I am also a Christian. I grew up Orthodox but am now Catholic. I never wanted to leave the church but felt unwelcome. I spent maybe 3 years away from the Orthodox Church before becoming a Catholic. I missed the church so much. When my grandmother passed away, my mom was praying her rosary and taught me how to pray it. I felt a connection with Mary as a result and felt inspired to go to a Catholic Church that was nearby. I fell in love and wow did I miss church services. You are right in saying that it is more than just the prayer, which of course is probably the most important part. There is also that community and connection you feel with fellow parishioners.
It has been about 4 years now as a Catholic and I am happy about that. I say all this to tell you that there is still one aspect of my life that I feel many people do not understand. Do they have to understand in order to love me the same? No but this misunderstanding often leads to being grouped with the wrong people and misunderstanding my heart and intentions. What I am talking about is the LGBT community. I know the comments that circulate around about the LGBT community and to some degree I can understand those comments. One shouldn't be sleeping around with anyone, especially the same sex. I don't identify as gay though. I identify as transgender. I actually grew up female. I was miserable throughout my life trying to be female. There was a lot of pressure growing up to find your future spouse. I know that was not unique to me, but the idea of marrying a man as a woman and having children with him...that was beyond my abilities. I was suicidal, especially in my mid 20s. fast-forward to now. Yes I legally changed my name to Kevin and had top surgery, but I prayed about every step. I asked permission from God. I was not trying to be selfish. Perhaps my selfishness was trying to force my mom to accept me, but we talked about it. I asked for forgiveness and she forgave me because she didn't see the fault in it in the first place. I am telling you all of this (as well as essentially anyone who watches your videos) because I want to make it known that I am different. I am an exception. I do not feel like I can relate to other transgender people. I have always believed in God and Jesus Christ. I have always believed in going to church. I said I felt unwelcome in the Orthodox Church, but that was more the one I grew up in. There were many other issues that my family and I had against that church that had nothing to do with what I was struggling with. I wasn't trying to make a political statement. I have not had a single girlfriend in my life (regardless of wanting one or not) but in any case, I know now that that has to be my compromise. If I am going to be a guy, then I will have to be single and celibate. So be it. Sex is not the most important thing for me anyway. Yes I would have loved a connection with a partner but God will show me another way someday.
Anyway, the point I am trying to make is that not all transgender (LGBT) people are heartless, selfish God-hating heathens. I care about Christianity. I care about the lives of saints. I care about the sacrifice Jesus made for me. I guess I don't have to prove myself to anyone, but I just wanted to make it known that I am different.
May your honest journey to know Jesus who is the Christ grow deeper and that you may know the Father.
In my view, it's not transgender people who is heartless, selfish, God-hating heathens, but those, who push confused pre-teens and teens in the rabbit hole of transgenderism. Most of these youth just suffer the usual identity crisis of that age. See Midsummer Night's Dream. Shakespeare knew.
They've come full circle. When you get rid of the lies, the only thing left is the truth. And the truth shall set you free.
I recently had a friend who gave his life to God after being an agnostic, he's still learning, but I can already see how God has worked in his life.
And the Truth is Christianity was literally made up by the Romans as Pro-roman propaganda to control the population, we are finding more and more hard evidence to support this.
This is one of the best "big picture" videos I've seen in a while. Great job! Thank you David! I was extremely touched by your testimony as well. God bless you!
Many churches today have changed and begun accepting ungodly things and strayed from God.
Church is not necessarily a physical structure as much as it is the body of believers.
If the church is not "biblically spiritual" then there is no use of that building
Not the orthodox Church☦
Have you considered becoming Catholic or Orthodox? Both denominations still hold true to Christian values and their respective history.
And yet there are many who do not understand this because they do not know the Bible..
They are always self-righteous, project a false sense of intellectual and moral superiority, and always angry and indignant. Many will shout stop wars, stop oil, save the forests...but have no clue how to do any of those stuff. It is very hard to take them seriously.
It's not that they have no clue, it's that it's virtue signaling.
How to save forests? Plant some trees! Work with conservationist efforts, actually tend your local forests which likely sorely need it because we don't allow the fires that would normally do the job.
Stop oil? How many petroleum products do they have? Gas is a bi-product of oil refinement and one of the primary materials oil is refined into is plastics. Look around you, heck look ON you, chances are you're wearing, eating from, sitting on and surrounded by plastic products.
Stop wars? Only one way to do that; Follow Christ's command to Love the Lord God with all your heart, Soul, Mind and Body and love your neighbor as you love yourself! How can you war against someone you love?
They're very serious about saving trees or animals but when it comes to babies that sympathy goes out the window
@@johnxina-uk8in I was just reading comments to another video, and there was bunch of guys trying very hard to explain to this self-professed intellectually superior atheist the difference between believing something to be true and knowing something to be true, in the context of the apostles willingly dying as witnesses to the resurrected Jesus. He couldn't tell the difference between the two. It is simply appalling.
@PassingBy1118 I know, I was an atheist like that a few years ago. You have to try really hard to deny history and neglect the Holy Spirit to be so arrogant and uneducated yet so confident

Truth is scary.
Bingo. Truth is scary because the One who is Truth welcomes us with His open, nail pierced hands.
Your sinful self hates that because it knows its death is imminent
I can confidently say that without religion, I would likely be a Neo-Nazi right now.
My faith is what pulled me out of that twisted belief.
The human heart is infinitely wicked. It is only through the power of the Holy Spirit which can truly help heal our minds, heart & soul. We will still be imperfect until the day we die, but we can now be given the opportunity to grow in sanctification. In a right relationship with our Heavenly Father.
@Cal-it4nyI went from atheist to Catholic. Won't point you in a particular direction but I shall pray for you.
Galatians 3:28 💗
If the atheists feel this way. Doesn’t it mean they are likely to be deceived by the anti-christ. That is sad. That is why we must have compassion for the lost. It isn’t a win or lose situation. Through Jesus we win, but don’t forget about the deceived. They don’t know they are even in a battle.
You watch to many Marvel movies FFS.
Marvel movies are a win lose situation. Aren’t they? They may very well be part of the deception. I would encourage watching more what is going on in Israel and less what is in the movie theater. I’m trying to be serious. God Bless.

I have friends getting married. They are talking about barely having 20 people each to invite to the wedding. As someone who goes to church I cannot relate. Every place I have lived I have had instant family and connection by finding a good church. Even when I'm on holiday I will find a church if I can because I miss it. I can find a friend that is genuinely happy to see me anywhere I go.
That is very nice. I have not gone to church since I was a teenager and never really gravitated to it. Although I've always believed in God and have seeked Him on my own. The church we went to when I was a teenager, I would not describe it as a place I would have an instant family. I don't have anything particularly bad to say about it. But it just wasn't that.
This very thing...the collapse of society and decency without Jesus...that turned me from Atheist to Christian about 3 years ago. I do hope these other famous Atheists to follow in my footsteps, as their status as a public figure could lead many to Christ if they ended up becoming Christian.
C.S. Lewis and Tolkien were both hardcore Atheists before coming to Christ, it's quite possible.
Leaving Christianity aside is not the reason why society is collapsing. As for decency, only hypocrites complain about that all the time when they do indecent things in privacy...
I still am agnostic atheist yet the teachings of christ have high value for society, along with many other great teachers of the past.
This kind of talk is so ridiculous. It isn't Christianity or bust. What of philosophy, literature, aesthetics? Concepts and virtues like discipline, humility, selflessness, patience? These are all things that can instruct and inspire us.

I have to admit, when O first saw Dawkins say that, I cracked up and said "IF ONLY anyone had warned him this would happen!" It only makes sense. Quick answer is yes . Every sinner needs him .
My younger self had a conversation with a man who went to church every Sunday faithfully. He did not believe at all. I just felt , at that time, that if you're not sincere, don't act like you believe. I was wrong. I didn't realize till I was almost 70. Now I understand the need for this culture, even for the atheist.
I think about it like this, if I'm upset with my husband one day and I don't feel "love" but I still go through the motions and give him coffee and a kiss goodbye, is that faking love or is that actual love? I think that is love because love is not just a feeling. Not to say that going to church automatically makes you a Christian, but sometimes I find that people think they have to "feel" a certain way and if they don't feel that way but go to church then they're faking. I don't think that's true, I think that feelings change and our behavior re-orients our feelings. Even if you don't feel like it, we should go to church 😊
My favourite video maker. I could watch David Wood all day. He is so intelligent, so articulate, so concise and entertaining. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Edgy internet atheist are learning that what ppl believe in,their values has an impact on the community at large..
Is no coincidence the stuff that we're seeing as the Western world becomes more secular
With the christian faith going down, immorality, criminality, evil and wokeism are on the rise.
"Edgy internet atheist are learning that what ppl believe in,their values has an impact on the community at large"
Maybe they don't like people's religious beliefs being forced on others in the education system or in the framing of laws.
This article makes me think of the replacement of "Before Christ" and "Anno Domini" with "Common Era." B.C. and A.D. actually mean something; they refer to Christ's birth. "Common Era" doesn't mean anything. It's really symbolic of what the Secularists have been doing for the last half century. They don't want to give glory to Christ but they also want to keep the societal benefits of His teachings and they don't want to put in the work required to come up with something new. So, instead, they try to keep the outward facsade of the Christian system but replace Christ with meaningless things.
They want the fruits but initially didn’t care about the trees that Christianity managed. Now they want to destroy the farm and still assume that fruits will always be available.
Too often people try to tear down the old system without having a viable replacement. It could be a government or a religion. Or a society or even a culture.
It's kind of entertaining. If anything reminds me of when junkies lose a habit. They often get a new, more destructive habit or cling to a more benign one rather fervently.
Time will tell.
Prayers for all our atheist and anti-theist family, friends, and neighbors, as we pray for all that do not know the one true God called by the name Yahweh or Yeshua, the God of Abraham and the Messiah & Christ, our savior and lord!

Tying in with @whatyoumeme's recent video on identity. Identifying as Christian first has brought us the universalism, equal rights, and rule of law that has allowed our society to flourish. Abandoning that common identity was a grave error.
Not an issue of identification but following God's word.
We're told to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute you. Despite a vicious civil war that should have destroyed the nation, we survived. Despite destroying Japan and Germany, we helped them rebuild. When the church condemned slavery and later prejudice, the nation repented to God to love our neighbors as we love ourselves.
When we followed God's word, we were blessed. Hearing is doing.
