ive had a bibury for 3 years. fixed my sink, my vacuum, camping stove, did some gardening, sawed of some roots and its still going
Yeah! That’s a great bang for the buck! Thank you for sharing!
The Leatherman P4 and P2 should have had at least this file. The Surge clone came in clutch for me today. My dremel, the way I usually sharpen my lawn mower blade, died on me today, cutting grass with my new side hustle and the BIBURY diamond file sharpened my blade in no time. I never seen the need for a diamond file, since I have knife stones and my dremel for my mower, but that diamond file really made my blade sharp. I really appreciate your video on that multitool.
Great value. Thanks for sharing Dom
Man, if only they had a legit file in place of the serrated blade. As it is, I'd take the Gordon over this one every day and twice on Sunday.
I'm not a fan of serrated blades, but they are a better option for Bushcraft and the File is better for Urban EDC
totally agree, I'd swap the serrated blade for a large file and have a small serrated blade maybe in place of the small file.. and I'd swap the flat head screwdriver (which is redundant with the bit driver) for a spirit style chisel probably. Putting magnets in the bit driver to accomodate standard 1/4" bits is a huge upgrade (I did this to my DL7). This would be my perfect tool set I think. adding colourful G10 scales with tweezers, toothpick, pin etc could be spicy too. exciting times for multitools, especially with all the modular stuff getting popular too!
I actually really like the mild serrated blade on the Gordon. Works much better in many applications than the more aggressive one found in other multitools. Also I've actually grown quite attached to the guthook. It works wonders when stripping thick multiconductor cable!
@@AtomicBleach I like the serrated blade on the Gordon too. But I've got to have a file. The Gordon has a great file. If I am bringing the scissors up to one of the majors (four large outside opening slots), I keep the file and relegate the serrated blade to the minors.
Review came at the right time. If there was a all stainless version, I might've picked this one. I was able to get 3 Bibury's Wave clones to keep in 3 cars (wife, kids) and a Bibury Surge clone to keep in the truck. My Leatherman just pulls workshop duty now.
Thanks for the update
Bibury makes a great tool. I was shocked at the quality for the money honestly.
Good find! Looks like a worthy choice vs.The Gordon.
Hey thanks for the info.
Great review!
The real question is the steel quality on all these clones . That's the bottom line for me and I would bet the house the steel quality is abysmal and the price reflects that .
Not bad actually, 7cr on blades, 5cr on most tools. 3cr on frame
Becareful what you bet on . . . you might end up losing it! The Bibary uses reasonably good stainless steel for its price range. While certainly not to the quality of a S30v blade like on the Leatherman Charge TTI. It is pretty reasonably quality stainless steel, like Maxlvledc noted, 7cr on the main blade, 5cr on other tools and 3cr on the frame. The Swiss Tech 18 in 1, model ML2002, & the Swiss Tech 37 in 1 apparently uses a grade higher than the Bibary unit, 8cr13 mov stainless steel.
Nice tool
I got one of these a few weeks ago. I had to touch up all the edges (except for the straight blade and the scissors). It's a real nice tool once you get it where it needs to be. I don't like the file though. I'll probably mod it at some point.
Bought few weeks ago, Had to sharpen the gut hook. The SQT version came way sharper out of the box. As did the titanium version. But it is a toss up between these and the Gordon, But the Gordon is way smoother.
The gordon hook seems to come sharp. Mine was able to cut a nylon strap out of the box.
Bibury is selling this tool on the Canadian Amazon site for $70. Note that the USD to CAD exchange rate is not more double. There might be a hefty tariff for their company to import goods.
I just saw an adventure ridge for $10! And it's a decent multi tool.
This has been 30 bucks since it came out. Id wait for the price to drop as ive never seen it on amazon over the 29.99. Bought the Gordon from HFT and so far its great
Does anyone make a knockoff Skeletool?
Not yet
Gordon at $32 with fathersday coupons is a better buy. If what im hearing from others about the lifetime warranty being true then for sure id rather be able to just go into a local store and get another one. Much better than waiting a month for warranty procedures to go through.
The warranty is only 90 days. Confirmed this at HF
I think Leatherman is in trouble. They have been king for so long that they have forgotten how they got there. As a conciquence they are loosing all there patents and they don't have any irons in the fire left so to speak. Now everyone is coming along with their ideas, trying to improve or at least impress everyone with their take on it.
Gordon beats all these
wonder when free/arc clones will start coming out
Covered by patents
@@maxlvledc it's just having the tool joints be on the opposite ends and making them be one hand operatable though, no? which has existed for a while, so as long as it doesn't look like a free/arc it would be fine.
@anfernyjackson9013 hmm, well technically that's not patented..so it is possible
I ordered this then returned it. I the scissors didn’t lock properly and the handles not lining up when it was closed drove me crazy. I am still on the hunt to find something better than my wave.
Did you try a surge clone?
Sorry, but you won't find something better. As a test try opening a can. This Chinese stuff is mostly junk.
Hi max what can you recommend to me I am a pensioner here in the uk with very little extra money would appreciate your input ,
Fellow UK almost pensioner here, I buy direct from Ali Express as the prices are usually less than Amazon, particularly if you don't have free postage by being a member of prime... they seem to have sales regularly so keep an eye out...😉
Ali Express, Daicamping multitools are about as close as it gets.
Try to get a used real one. Don't buy junk. Trust me and it all failed or sits in a draw.😢
Just remember that in the UK, locking blades are illegal to carry, so make sure the blade/s on whichever tool you choose don't lock out.
@@neverstoppedme Not quite, 'if you have a valid reason' you can, but with the way that police behave these days, that's a risk...
I ordered this exact bibury a couple of weeks ago. Major bummer every one of the outside emplements has a ton of "lock rock" or play once the tool is locked. This effects the scissors majorly causing them to perform quite poorly. Could likely diaassemble and peen the handle where the spine of the plades connect with the handle when opened to push some material out to meet the blade to lose this play, but thats a lot of work for a new tool. The most disappointing chinese tool so far lol
None on mine, If you contact them, they will replace easily
Leatherman should get their 30 bucks price range back or they get eaten.
Hard pass, QC is not there from model to model the materials used is highly dubious.
Meh ima stick with my Gordon.
First!
And this is why America Sux now...!
*Y DO U BOTHER REFERENCING PRICE ON ANYTHING THAT MAY MATTER AT ALL?????YOU DO THIS AND THESE WASTES TRIPPLE THE PRICE THE SH¡T GETS SO SO DAM OLD!!!!!!!*
😖😖😖😖😖😖😖😖😖😖😖
*EHHHHHHHHH LINER LOCKS WILL BREAK B4 A FULL YEAR ANYWAYS* 😕😕🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱
Anything the Chinese dont steal?
Patents expired in 2018, it's fair game
