I was raised by a single mother and I was insistent on seeing this in theatres and it was so worth it. I managed to persuade my mom to watch it though she's not much into animated movies and the story really touched her too. She ended up buying me the trilogy of books this movie is based off of with a sweet note calling me her Brightbill.
That was enough to make me cry before I even read the series

When I first watched this movie, I definitely shed some tears, but I'm sure it would've hit a lot harder as a parent. Really love Adam & especially Jay showing their vulnerability. That's a rarity amongst reactors (and any UA-camrs, really), to be so genuine. There's a pandemic of sarcasm, mockery and cynicism in our culture today -- partly because it's scary to open yourself up to admitting actual real emotional responses to things, so people cover it up with a sarcastic comment or joke. You guys don't do that, and I for one really appreciate that. You both of course still have a lot of fun, and make your jokes -- but not at the expense of masking your feelings. If everyone had such an open heart, this world would be a better place.

just dropping in to brag about how i was lucky enough to see this at the UK premiere at London Film Festival. Saw Lupita Nyong’o, Pedro Pascal, the writer/director (who also did how to train your dragon, lilo and stitch, mulan, the cross and worked on the lion king and aladdin. so yknow animation legend), the composer of the incredible score and the president of dreamworks. definitely my favourite thing i saw at the festival and it was great line up. me and the entire theatre spent most of it openly weeping. i went alone but bonded with the strangers next to me over just how much we cried lol. oh and lupita and pedro are even more pretty in person too

6:18 just wanted to mention that's actually what ravens and crows look like, they are iridescent, we just can't see it because we lack the lightcones.
Also, Thunderbolt? The Falcon? he's a reference to Marvel's Sam Wilson, he even says "ON YOUR LEFT", even when he shoots the ship (helicarrier like in the winter soldier). There's so many references to the MCU.
ANYGAY! I saw this film in theaters with two of my best friends.
One of them, her family lives outside the country, my other best friend lost her dad in March this year, and I almost lost my mom 10 years ago to aneurysm-stroke combo. We all felt this film deeply, I was a sobbing mess during all of it. I remember at the ending we were just holding onto each other crying. It's a beautiful film about parenting, loss, and found family. It's beautiful.
Also, you need to react to the How To Train Your Dragon Trilogy, and watch Puss in Boots The Last Wish.

To be fair, kids say the wildest stuff all the time, so the baby possums talking about death is actually somewhat realistic.
Aiso man, this is one blurry movie, definitely not the tears in my eyes at all...
It's even one of the rare cases where the credit song is both a banger, and thematically on-point for the movie lyrically.
"I'm gonna be forever in you", is such an expression of love in both directions because the people we love not only stay alive in our memories but in our actions, our quirks and our mannerisms. I guarentee there are things you do or say that you got from someone you love and who loves you.
"I hope you never hesitate and waste those wings", thematically on-point for Brightbill learning to use the gifts he has been given, doing things his way instead of the way society wants him to conform to.
"I hope you dance under the rain the storm cloud brings", I love this sentiment, that even when times are difficult you can always still find joy in something.
Kiss the Sky is also a beautiful song. Honestly the whole movie and soundtrack is a masterpiece.

This movie is top ten animated movies of all time for me, easily
    Maybe top five
Also I feel like you guys would both really get into How to Train Your Dragon
Which is also up there in top five
And don't worry guys, they're making a sequel so she's definitely getting back to that island lol

While I’m sad there was no Bluey today, I also am glad I didn’t spend this whole day wondering when the Baby Race reaction would drop. Instead I get to just casually discover The Wild Robot in the after-turkey stupor.

Watched this with my mom last night and we both teared up. I'm neurodivergent so growing up I always had a lot of trouble in school and getting along with other kids, and my moms always had my back even when other parents told her she should do parenting their way. We both just saw ourselves in Roz and Brightbill so much, it felt like the movie was made for us.

It makes you hope that people realize that not everyone has kids who are the same species. Still love them and would do any thing for them

I can't believe they beheaded a bird and for a second pretended to kill a kid in an animated movie. This movie was crazy

As first semester freshmen in college, me and a group of friends went to see this movie in theaters a few weeks after it came out. We sobbed together, even after knowing each other only a few months, we are all going through the same growing pains as Brightbill in this movie and we had a silent understanding of one another in that moment after the movie ended.

I have yet to see a movie that addresses parenthood with as much honesty. This movie was tear-jerking.
