Thanks, Bry. The Catman covers are also under-rated. Catman 32, if you haven't seen it, is an all-time classic for me. I have barely missed it a half a dozen times at auction.
This reminds me of my Giant Size X-Men #1 which I purchased by mail order from Mile High Comics in 1982 for $50. After leaving the hobby in 1988 I sold it to my LCS along with my new X-Men run in 1991. I regretted it for years. When CGC came along it was the first slab I bought in 2005, a 9.2 for $860, also more than I sold my original for.
Hi Rocket! Glad you have it back. Yeah, I wished I would have kept the 9.0 in the first place but am thrilled to have the 7.0 in the collection now. Sometimes, I let my heart be my north star.
Catman is one of those Golden Age characters who didn't have the good fortune to have a publisher that survived. However, I feel that the modern DC Catman villain really goes for the aesthetic of the Golden Age character.
Definitely! For a relatively obscure publisher, Continental made its mark through great art. Yeah, agree that DC did a nice job of keeping the old-school Catman vibe! Thanks for commenting, Jim.
LB Cole is one artist that I don't have in my collection. But he's on my wish list. I like his sci fi covers the best. Your Catman is great too. Congrats Keston!
@@kestonsoldschoolcomicbooks6842 Hey Keston, I don't have the capital to go after a Startling Comics 49 but I've had my eye on a Planet Comics 71 for a while. I was the underbidder on a 6.0 at Heritage a week ago. At some point I'll add a Frazetta Famous Funnies to my PC.
Sorry to hear about your near-miss, Shane. Planet 71 is nice. Startling 52 is a super-sweet book imho, and about a 1/10 of 49. The best Xela deals are in the Excitings. I've always thought that 60, 62, and 66 could hold their own against the Wonders and Startlings!@@RedRockShane
Thank you for the advice Keston. I've lost out a couple times on an Exciting Comics 60. Hoping to end that streak one day soon. @@kestonsoldschoolcomicbooks6842 Weird Fantasy has some great art too.
Great to hear, Ryan. I'm glad the book found a new home. I had designs to acquire a nicer copy...but boy that book has blown up since 2018. What did that Cage 5.5 sell for...90k, I think!
One of my grails is a Hulk 181. I had to sell it due to financial hardship. It was a 7.5. Hopefully one day I can add that issue back into my collection but at a higher grade. As always great content.
Wonderful book. These are some of my favorite LB Cole covers out there. Also love Quinlan Catman Covers.
Hi, Alex! Thanks, man. The whole run is great. It's funny to me how some titles are so defined by the art. Catman is certainly one of those :-)
I’ve never seen that cover! Love the snow and the entire design. Will have to add that to my GA knowledge base!

Congratulations there is nothing better than getting THAT book back
Thanks, Chris! Yeah, I was super happy to have this book back in the collection.

Awesome re-addition to your collection! Well done!
Thank you, CBV!

Hi Shane, What type of sci-fi covers do you like? Is there a particular artist or artists?

That is one of the best Catman covers. Still it is in really high grade.
Thanks CCG! Yeah, I’m definitely fond of it. Maybe it’s because I lost it…but it’s now one of the most treasured books in my collection.
The hoodie! So cool!
:-). Thanks, you two!
Hey, your former Punch 12 is now in my collection =). I recognized those cover flaws immediately 👍

@@kestonsoldschoolcomicbooks6842 yeah the Nick Cage connection definitely boosted the price on that copy.
awesome book i have the same issue and i love it just like you do it is an amazing cover
Thank you, Tim. One of the best comic book covers, period. Glad to be in the same club with you!

Thank you, Roy. I'm in the exact same situation. Sold a 7.5 way back in the day. Haven't had a 181 in my collection for 8 or 9 years. It's time!
Nice!
Thank you, my friend!
I don't know who Catman is :(
Hi Dan! Never too late to get acquainted !
Catman is Batman's less famous brother. 😂
