    ACTUALLY, THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST SHELTERS SHOWN HERE ON UA-cam. Good standard items like escape tunnel, separate sleeping areas, lots of built-in storage under beds & seating, Shower - toilet - laundry room combo area. With a private water well, septic tank & drain field, and power source (with backup) - you might actually survive & THRIVE !

    Some technical details would be nice. How is water stored and how much. What about grey water? Black water? Power supply? Not trying to be harsh, but it seems like these guys weren't serious at all. Is this an emergency shelter? A fire shelter? A wealthy dude's beaver palace? No disrespect, but these guys are slapping together building supplies and calling it a shelter/man cave, but it fails at either. Frankly, this seems more like a place where one would find kidnap victims.

    I'll take it! I'm going to need everything installed of course. Water and air filtration system, waste management system, extra batteries, and I need to make sure the door to the mudroom is rated for 5.56 out of a 20 inch barrel, as well as 30-06 black tips.

    • @jordanstewart2455
      @jordanstewart2455 6 років тому +1

      Suburban Preparedness with all due respect, and no offense intended, but I hate to break it to you but the Atlas survival shelters aren't exactly the best design. First of all the shelter lacks a proper decontamination room and water pump for the main entrance. Second the nbc filter should be put in its own separate room that can be sealed off when changing the filter and should also be connected to the decontamination room in case you get any dangerous substances on your body when changing the filter. There design should also include the ability to manually operate all pieces of equipment necessary for survival, not just the filter. The emergancy escape exit should have a door on the small tunnel that next to the shaft that leads up so if you use it you don't necessarily contaminate the rest of your shelter. Also there are a lot of electrical aplinces that would wast valuable electricity that could easily be replaced with there manual counterparts. There should also be multiple air intake and exit pipes that spreed out in multiple directions so if one is found and sealed it doesn't spell Doom for you. And finally they need to include a place to store trash and wast until it is safe to leave the bunker. That and there very expensive and it would almost be better to build one yourself if you have the necessary skills and knowledge.

    If your home is about to be or likely to be wiped off the map by a tornado, I think this type of survival home would be pretty handy to have.
    I'd personally build the whole thing out of fibreglass into a small hill on my property and cover the entire shelter with 4 feet of dirt and shrubs.
    All pipeworks would gravity feed waste out of it into cess pits below ground level. Underground stuff below G/L tends to really retain too much water, moisture and condensates easily.
    It's a devil to ventilate subsurface shelters properly.
    All those steps down into the shelter will make it problematic for the wheelchair bound infirm, sick, lame and lazy members of the family too.

    I don't understand why the master bedroom has privacy but not the toilet? And what good is privacy if the walls don't actually touch the circular Room?
    If ventilation is the issue, why not route ventilation through the floor so that you had genuine privacy from one space to the next with a real door and a real seal up against the wall?
    I would hate being stuck in something like that for more than a day with more than one person. You could set up just like any RV and you could have real privacy for these spaces.

      makayla mackins Homeless people aren't generally homeless because they lack housing, its usually because they have personal problems like drug or alcohol addicitions or mental health issues that preclude from living as most people do e.g they shit on living room floor when there is a perfectly usable toilet, leave needs0les and empty bottles everywhere, or they destroy rental properties and get thrown out by landlords. The minority of decent homeless people usually find an alternative through a charity or helpful others. Self destructive tendancies tend to make for unhealthy living, "give a man a loaf of bread, he'll expect one tomorrow, and the day after, so he'll sit around doing nothing, masturbating".

      Sorry but you can’t just throw shelter at it and assume it’s going to fix their mental illnesses
