Thank you. The highlight for me is at 7:19 when the software manager launches quickly, within a couple of seconds. This a big improvement on previous versions which can take 12 or more seconds to launch fully. Possibly the biggest painpoint in Mint and it seems to be resolved. Good stuff.
👍
I really enjoy the Cinnamon desktop. I think the Cinnamon dev team really nailed the sweet spot between simplicity of Gnome and customizability of KDE while staying lean and snappy. Kudos.

Thanks for the lesson on what's new in Linux Mint 22. I have really enjoyed Linux Mint with only minor issues with Realtek ALC892 Audio chip-set support with surround sound 5.1 and support for HDR.
Thanks for sharing!
watching this on my Linux Mint mini PC.....relaxed....hoping Mint22 comes out sooner....
Enjoy!
I am looking forward to upgrading from 21.3 to 22 once the final version is released. I agree that software manager was slow before and having it fire up right away will be a big plus.
It remains to be seen if Flatpak off has an effect on time to open software manager, once the LM 22 official release has gone online. Regards, t
Thanks for the video. I'm currently testing Debian 12.5 but I also consider Mint and specially LMDE as great options. My data NTFS disks are totally transparent to Debian, which is great and will ease the transition I intend to make.
Glad it was helpful!
Very informative! IMO I'll wait for the stable 😅 release
👍
Thank you very much! I love Mint! =)))))))))))))))))
I am so happy! =)))))))))))))))))
All the best and love for you! =)))))))))))))

I don't see many differences from the 21.3 specially if you update the kernel to the latest versions available. But in all honesty 21.3 is already really good, so no need to ask for much more.
Now since this is Beta , one can maybe appreciate some improvements, I do agree 21.3 does meet my needs, for others always looking for more ...
if i have Linux Mint 21.3 and i upgrade to Linux Mint 22(not new format, just upgrade the dist from terminal), is that make any issue or problem ?
i have separated Home partition.
This is currently in Beta format , so I would not advise. Wait until official release version for best results.
Really am hoping that there is an easy in-place way to upgrade to this new release once it's out. I've replaced Windoze on a few of my client's machines with Mint and would be a shame if it required a full reinstall.. Update automation is on in the Update Manager.
Time will tell…
Will I be able to seamlessly "upgrade" from Linux Mint 21.3 to Linux Mint 22 some time before April 2027 when Mint 21.3 will no longer be supported?
In 3 years, you may want to backup your personal stuff, then perform a clean install, just a thought.
Running LM22 Cinnamon beta for a few days. It is great albeit I found that turning off screensaver is buggy (doesn't hold its setting).
Thanks for sharing, its just still beta
Question for you: In older versions, one could switch between traditional and modern desktop layouts, is that feature back?.
You can always customize the desktop, i have quite a few videos on the subject
Hi.
What is the difference between upgrading to next version and fresh install ?
Thanks for the content.
If you have been on the same desktop for over a year or two, sometimes a fresh install is best... to get rid of some weeds of unwanted software :o)
I installed Mint 22 beta and there is a bug in software-center. All flatpaks are recognized as "unverified".
Thanks I know flatpack seems like hot topic with the mint devs
Not clear on what the "Layouts" funtion of the Actions function is all about. What is being affected by the layouts: Nemo, context menus, other?
These are all very similar to 21.3 .
The one good thing is that my Linux Mint 21.3 will tell me when it is time to upgrade to LM 22.
You can use until 2027, or upgrade, or possibly fresh install, lots of options.
6.8 EOL (End of Life) 😁
