Great video, new user was trying to find out how to more video to and from my laptop and desktop Mint computer, thanks again a life saver
Thanks, I'm glad it was helpful.
nice informative video LfS's, i'm kind of po'd now i didn't learn the GUI for ufw... i set up 2 DNS Servers (pi) and while researching UFW configurations for my DNS Servers i came to realize how powerful UFW really is, you can do some really cool stuff with it!! all of this of course (for me) was just to stay sharp, learn something new & challenge my self a little bit... it's really rewarding & gratifying when you learn new things (anyways) thanks for the quality content!!
Thanks
Thank you ! You help me to open firewall to warpinator, in linux mint 22. I like your videos. Greats from Portugal
Glad to hear that
Chapeau et génial mon ami :)
Merci
This is great and informative, thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Been watching a lot of your videos and love them, did have question. I have a Mint 22 box and a Windows box that I run servers. When I try to add another ip into the router for the port forwarding they already exist under the other ip. Do I need another router or switch
Thank you for watching. Not sure exactly what you are asking, but generally you cant have the same IP Address on same network it can cause conflicts, Example: if it's a home network with Non static IP Address, this should not be an issue if running DHCP on your Home router which is common . However it sounds like your are working with router tables, maybe and trying to move things around , so this can get complex , switches are very nice two way comms and are now getting cheap vs HUBs from the past which were one way comms , switches can maybe separate those, I am assuming you are using Ethernet. Some times my comments have been screen out by UA-cam, if you see line thru's or may not get this message. However hopefully some of this was helpful. Best Regards, t
As a significantly more senior senior I find your tutorials really helpful - I just wish I could think as fast as you can talk! The 'K' key in youtube is my saviour. Anyway, over the years I have been using multiple PCs in my home network I have continually run into the issue of not being able to communicate between PCs (a mixture of Windows (now only Win 10) and multiple Linux distros). This tutorial has made a great difference already, but I wonder if you could give a wider view of how to setup secure file access and transfer between PCs on a home LAN - with special emphasis on avoiding making security blunders.
Thanks for watching . So here are some tips: *Firewalls with correct ports Rules is one idea, SSH Server - SSH Client is another idea these use SFTP or secure File transfer protocol in file manager at least for Nemo you can also use Terminal for SSH, Old Windows computers in my book have always been a little buggy when networking, SAMBA for file sharing can be buggy with all computers, I'm not sure how reliable KDE Connect would be in Windows but that would be an option to explore , don't forget the KDE Connect Firewall rules also if using. I have a lot of Video's that cover some Firewall info, SSH, SAMBA and KDE Connect as examples, best of luck. Regards, t
Hi, I'm new in LINUX Just ask a simple Q... is it true that LINUX can't be installed in eMMC ? I've tried several distros, and they all failed Need advice, Thank u
I believe eMMC is embedded multimedia card, flash memory... generally intended as a common choice for consumer electronics.
I'm a 70 year old newb and this is well over my head.
Thank you so much for watching, I have all kinds of Video's on my channel , for just about any user skill level of Linux . This Video's you commented on, states in the title Advanced Bookmarks which is for folks that deal with server software for Advanced concepts . Best Regards, t
please, can you make a video for explain configuration and solve some problem with gdrive. than you for your video. (italy)
I will assume you mean Google Drive ?on the question on solve some problem? with gdrive, and configuration. I would suggest you reach out to Google Support for your specific issue since you just stated some problem, and configuration, since some could be result on your private account, which is something I could not make a video for. Best of Luck, t
glad to see your channel growing some!
Thanks.
Can you make videos about dhcp, dns, domain controller, web services? thanks🎉
Wow , a loaded request .. most of this information if not all have been addressed by some of my Video's of the past in my library and the Internet by many Folks. The Internet can also answer these subjects easily in most cases with the right keyword searches. Regards,t
As always, very nicely done. Thank you.
My pleasure!
Happy New Year Question can you do a video installing the media kodi on Linux Mint 22 I have no luck installing it Thanks
Happy New Year to you also. Sorry but I do not use that software, but i did install Kodi main app and the meda kodi package add on without errors, but again not that familiar with this software. Regards, t
Man, thanks for this. I've never used Nemo as anything but a file explorer. It never occurred to me I could use it to connect to a server. I just tried it with the website I run on a hosting service - was always using Filezilla - and boom, I'm in. One tab my local website files, the other the server. Excellent.
Happy to help, glad you found it useful.
Thank you for the video's Happy New Year 😊
Thanks, all the best you and your family this new year.
Great video. One query - does the name used in the hosts entry have to match the actual hardware. I have some items of hardware that do not have a name - it would be nice if the hosts entry could function like an alias.
Thanks, normal when a Hosts file is added manually - resolving IP address to a Name, were are assuming the machine is ether a Static IP address on the Network card on the computer, and or if on a Home network, the Router is most likely using DHCP ... Normally , but not always, the Home Router assigns same IP to that Network card computer , no alias . Now the name of the computer is normally just the simple name of the computer when it was installed, some users will try long names , not what I would recommend or using spaces in the name, a lot of undesired outcomes can occur, on my Rsync Video's I do mention that it's not a great idea to use space's in the drive name(s) , especially if one is using script files... that would add more complexity to the script for example for it to work properly , hopefully some of this is helpful. Best Regards, t
very nicely explained💻🖥great video,keep doing what you`re doing,such a great help😀😃😄
Happy to help!
Super :)
Thanks
I don't mess with the hosts file, I just reference by <system name>.local, eg. system1.local. No need to mess with hosts file.
Local computer name with.local in address bar can be done, yes, a little confusing to some . The etc/hosts for *All Users on the local system, is another way without trying to remember to add the .local to local computer name(s) your trying to ssh into , but as I pointed out in the Video it’s just an option. Regards, t
Wow! Thank you very much for all that inormation. Previously I had connected 2 Raspberry PI's and it was fascinating to see the 2nd PI's desktop on the main screen, but I hadn't gone beyond that. I'll watch this video a couple more times for all the bits and pieces that I missed. Thanks again!
Thanks
I have commented before but want to thank you yet again for making great content. 30 year Windows user trying to learn Linux. I have installed Mint and learning a ton through your videos!
Thanks for watching, glad you are making the switch!
Thanks a lot

Great video, thank you very much! If I would have one wish for free: I would appreciate a video how to directly connect a Linux Mint 22 System to a Synology NAS in the easiest way.
Thanks, sorry but I do not use Synology NAS. Regards,t
第一
Thanks, I may not be first.... but I try to make video's that are fairly easy to understand. Best Regards, t
I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2025! Thank you for all your effort in making these videos! This is a treasure trove of knowledge! Special compliments for filming these videos in high resolution. It really helps, as I don't have the best eyes! Thank you for thinking about those of us, who do not see very well! I am really happy that I have found your youtube channel -- almost accidentally! I have no one to spend time with this holiday season, but I continue to educate myself about Linux with here, on your channel. Thank you for all what you do! Have a great holiday season!
Thank you, I appreciate you finding my channel! And a very special thanks for your kind words, all the best to you this season . Regards, t
I am 59 and have just recently moved to Linux Mint after 30+yrs on Windows. Could you do a video in 2025 on AV for Linux as it appears a contentious subject in the Linux world and your clearly explained approach is very much appreciated. Thank you for all your videos and the time you have invested in helping others.
Thanks, I will think about that
