- Effing ay, that was great.
My microphone wouldn't shut off this base noise when I would finish talking at times. Sorry, that's annoying.

As long as you keep uploading the small differences like that don’t matter all that much keep it up
Hearing problems a little so I didn't notice. You're all good Sebs!
If you want to see how his voice has matured, watch his song Cowpoke.
@@Smasherv15 ,
Bein' one himself, he really knows how to sing that song. In fact, Imma' go listen to it again right now.

Where he sings about rodeo another one of my favorite songs starts up in the big jukebox in my head:

Gotta' be one of the best heartbreak songs ever, IMO.
Colter Wall is a very good Canadian country singer/songwriter. He is now 28 years old, and he loves working and living on his farm in Saskatchewan. Good song!
On his ranch in Rush Lake Saskatchewan
Even spends time in Texas working on cattle ranches.
The Devil Wears a Suit and Tie.. that was the first Colt song I heard. Amazing song. So.. Canadians can sing country too 😆
Kate Mccannon was the first I heard and is an absolute favorite with my two year old ❤
" ... So.. Canadians can sing country too 😁"
Well, heck yeah. Ian Tyson proved that over fifty years ago. (And many others, since.)
@@ArcoZakus Indeed, but that doesn't stop most people from thinking country is just backwoods southern folk.
@@KathyAnne28 ,
I hope your two year old does not understand the lyrics yet. Kinda' grim.

Their loss. It ain't all about cowboys, drinkin', cheatin', and broken hearts, either -- though some of my favorites still are. On the opposite end are songs like "You're Gonna Miss This" (Ashley Gorley, Lee Thomas Miller) and "Then They Do" (Sunny Russ), both sung by Trace Adkins. Such a huge genre. Someting for everyone not put off by stereotypes.
There is something so profound about hearing this guy for the first time. It’ll give you shivers through your bones
Just awesome!! All I can say is
The first time I heard him, I was blown away. As a fan of Johnny Cash, I was very excited to hear more.
I love watching people hear his voice for the first time. I felt the same the first time i heard him sing.
He is a real cowboy. He worked a ranch in Canada during lockdown. Great story teller.
‘The devil wears a suit and tie’ great one of Colter's
So many great songs from him. Sleeping on the Blacktop is another great one. I think he refers to Kate McCannon in other songs/stories as well.
Colter wall is my favorite artist of the now days I’m so glad you found him
It was so good that I almost fell out fell off fell off my my chair and almost a new favorite song for me. He loved her. Love ❤️ his voice
Very rarely am I literally enthralled by a song and performance. This guy's voice reels you in. I love, love this. I can't wait to tell friends to listen to this.
Love the story tellers of country
Me, too. You might enjoy one of my new favorites:

It seems to me that whenever someone starts diving into country, folk, and bluegrass, they inevitably find their way to Colter Wall. The voice, the presence, the songwriting- it's entrancing; he very obviously feels what he sings, and he's only gotten better as he's matured. There are so many of his songs that impact can impact you in ways you wouldn't expect; Caroline, Bob Fudge, Living on the Sand, and Cowpoke just to name a few.
It's always a joy to see another of your videos-thank you for your time and effort in these!
Coulter Wall is the Walking, Singing Middle Finger to Autotune.
So many good songs. This kid is doing the slow , on purpose, roll up the chain of command. He could rise super fast, but he's a cowboy at heart and if he had a choice would rather slow walk up and do right. He turned down a Joe Rogan interview a couple of years ago because....he was tending cattle and it was winter. He couldn't leave them.
His Bunkhouse Sessions were recorded at this time ( youtube has 'em all!)
Wow! What a voice. He sounds like he drank whiskey and smoked cigarettes since birth. Definitely checking out more of his catalog
Actually I pretty sure he was 19 when this was recorded
19 was when he wrote and recorded his first time, this video was later on 👍🏻
Wow! And how he plays the music almost tells as much about the story as the lyrics do. I can’t believe I’ve never heard of this young man. Amazing!
I've never seen him before but his song/songwriter/drummer amazed me completely. Fabulous guy! 🥰
Ive been listening to Colter Wall for 3 or 4 years now,,but i sure enjoyed watching you experience him for the first time ~!! May I suggest Sleepin On The Blacktop or The Devil Wears A Suit And Tie💛
The first time I watched this video I was immediately captivated. Unique does not come close to describing Colter Wall. He is now one of my favorite performers ever! I’ve watched him sing this about 25 times in the past few weeks, and it never gets old.
You should listen to his rendition of Ian Tyson's "Bob Fudge".
Hell yes. Everyone always goes to Sleeping on the Blacktop or Kate McCannon but Bob Fudge is the song.
Everyone keeps saying he works on a farm.... Farming and Ranching are 2 different things FYI. He worked on a cattle ranch and now owns one himself.
Hey Seb, from western Washington here, this is amazing, i will be checking this guy out some more now. About the cowboy hat, many styles to choose from, the one i think is a good neutral one called a hybrid are the Aussie style hat, i recommend Akubra Hats, when shopping for one you will be directed online to the one importer named David Morgan who's brick and mortar shop is just a few miles away in Bothel WA. Akubra fur felt hats are the best bang for the buck in quality, materials, durability and no worries wearing them in the rain as their dyes are not cheap and wont run when wet as inferior brands can, i personally have a collection of them but i have also graduated to custom hats where the fit is perfect as they use a conformateur to get your exact head shape. Welcome to the proper hat world, for any weather and UV protection, i am not a sales person for any hat makers, like you reactions man, cheers, p.s. bro if you like this guy check out Townes Van Zandt.
Devil wears a suit and tie and Sleeping on the blacktop are great ones to!
Colter is a real cowboy. He works the range in Wy or did at one time.
I'm impressed with the young people we have doing this style of old story telling country music. Thank God!
My first time finding Colter I thought their may yet be hope for country music.
He is an awesome western singer.
He sounds so much older and his voice is chilling.
Colter Wall, genius.
I cant stop listening to the song
Johnny Cash Vibe!
You definitely need to hear the devil wears a suit and tie and Sleeping in the blacktop!
Colter is amazing
Colter is a rancher in Saskatchewan, canada and has turned down Joe Rogan multiple times because “its winter up here and if i leave all the cattle will freeze to death”, and then “I’m on a cattle drive, cant make it”. I think his lifestyle contributes to his great writing ability. He wrote the song at 17 and first recorded it at 19. He’s 28 now and his singing versatility is now much wider.
I do believe we discovered a 21st century Johnny Cash. Wow! That was great.
My reaction was the same when I first heard him. Well done bro! Love your breakdown!
DANG!!!!!!!! TOTALLY MIND BLOWING! THAT MUSIC AND THEN THAT VOICE OF HIS!!!! JUST DANG!!!!! HE'S AWESOME!!! ❤
Colter Wall live is amazing. He is my husband’s favorite artist.
This man is not only insanely talented he’s almost a living mythical figure has no interest in fame or interviews plays low key shows (and not a lot) they sell out immediately the rest of the year he’s literally a cowboy on Ranches in Texas and in Alberta …
Saskatchewan, not Alberta, just a little East of Swift Current.
Sask country and Sask beer!
I'm glad you went with this song first
Thank God
"Oh, what a douche. He's so good." 🤣
Also, "The Devil Wears a Suit and Tie" from the same session is well worth a listen.
He’s from Saskatchewan Canada he’s a great singer
This is a hard core. Colter fits in with real country (it aint today's corporate pop country). Not bad for a 20 somethin' year old from the prairies of Canada.
Thanks for the music those three have given us the past 40-50 years.
Dudes voice is freaking unique
Colter’s voice reminds me of that old actor that played in a lot of westerns James Gammon but in a 22 year old body. Wild.
Hi Sebs, you really should listen to
"The Devil Wears a suit and Tie"!!!
IMO, It's Better than this one.
It's Soooo 👍🏼 Good!!! ❤️❤️
Getting a cowboy had should be a spiritual experience. If it isn't, you didn't do it right.
he has a LOT of great songs, reminds me of a Marty Robbins Johnny Cash mix
His newest stuff is dope. Feel like I'm riding the friggin range, roping cattle and sht.
He’s an actual working Cowboy from Canada. He works on the ranch, plays and performs, and doesn’t seek the spotlight. Love Colter’s voice and ability to tell a story.
He pulled you into his story and I was hoping to hear more but his story ends when he shoots her. Wow! Enjoyed your reaction. 😊
I had never heard of him until just now. Wow. What?!!! He can sing. He reminds me of Johnny Cash too.
He definitely has a Johnny Cash feel to his amazing vocals.
Creek reference is to rural poor people had to share a place to bath. So a creek was the water source to bath and everyone in the community would share .
Bloke Dave I like your Missus better than the other Blokes.! Watching from East Tennessee.
He seems very much like a modern Johnny Cash.
I bought Colter Wall's 1st EP when it came out, and I was hooked. His authenticity demands attention and respect--all pretense falls a way. So I had heard him before this song was released, but when I heard this... an authentic murder ballad rides in from a 100 years ago, as good as any ever written in the genre--it was stunning, and always will be. EXCELLENT choice.
Ya Colter ranches full time in Saskatchewan. Doesn’t do interviews.
I actually have a mutual friend with Colter. Heard he's a real nice guy!
Saw him live some months back dudes badass
A bright future? He’s doing just fine where he’s at, not even trying.
Filter is among the best out now.I've seen him twice live. Both great shows. He does a great version of Hoyt Axton's Evangalina, but pick any and it's great
Colter damn auto correct
a true artist
Prince · Another Lonely Christmas
A unrecognized great from the Artist's B-side.
We need more murder ballads like this. I love it!
Reminds me “story wise” of a song called Thorne tree shade by a band named volume 10
making me think of Tennesse Ernie Ford's "16 Tons"! Cool!
Everyone that has lost your love
Definitely gave me the Johnny Cash vibe..❤
the son of the last Premiere of Saskatchewan, Canada!
He sings and writes because he wants to, not out of monetary need.
Wow. Never heard of him before. You are right, gives me Johnny Cash vibes
LOVE Colter Wall!!
The pride of Swift Current Saskatchewan aka Speedy Creek
Wow, never heard him before! And yes, my first thought was Johnny Cash! Only unique!
The raven never lies!
Dude he does remind me of a young Johnny Cash. ❤
he is real country, you need to listen to sleeping on the blacktop.
true talent,rare today
Omg AWESOME
He draws you in.
Thanks!
That is what we call a murder ballad
Colter is my daughter’s generation’s Johnny Cash!
He wrote this when he was 19, this recording was when he was 22. He's like 27 or 28 now
Colter went through puberty at 3 to replace Johnny Cash
He’s got a Johnny Cash feel to it
Shawn James needs consideration
Whoa....Johnny Cash vibes ❤
Need to hear his new song Evangelina
You should hear Chris Leduque(probably spelled wrong)'The Hat"
He was only 19 when he wrote it!
Get a stetson or a Resistol cowboy hat. His hat is a cross between like an outback and ten gallon. He's Canadian, so I'm not sure what kinda hats they use up there. Down here in Fort Worth, we've got some pretty nice ones. 👌
this has to be one of my most favorite performances by Colter. ive listened to this version of Kate McKannon a million times and i still get goosebumps. his delivery here is perfect.
like a 98 year old cash
Clever that he chose a crow. A group of them is called a murder.
I loved my first time, I was quite over excited
I loved it
