  • Fishing Solo 35 miles off the coast of Charleston on the Pathfinder 2700 Open. I tried to use the slow pitch jig, but the current was way too strong for the jigs I had, so I resorted to cut bait. I managed to catch a few snapper, a black sea bass to take home for lunch, and snap a Penn Carnage III in half! I hope you enjoy.

      @@solofishcharleston I don’t do this but had to reply to these guys telling you to loosen drag and you don’t know what you doing and all that. We have to set drag tight and pull hard when we targeting big oh groupers down here in south Florida and keys, if we don’t we lose them. That rod shouldn’t have snapped like that. I have the same reel and love it but have it with bass pro ocean master rod and I’ve had the drag full out tight and no rod has ever snapped. Send that clip to penn, disappointed to see that rod snap like that. It’s not a cheap rod either. Been a Captain for 10 years down here. Not your fault that rod snapped. Keep on fishing 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

    I knew if you had any good structure down there that pyramid sinker was going to get lost, but I didn't think it would take that nice Carnage 3 rod with it. If you got it at West Marine they might exchange it for you. Good video though!

    • @solofishcharleston
      @solofishcharleston  5 місяців тому +1

      Yep, the pyramid sinker was not ideal, but it was the only weight over 6 oz I had with me and the current was ripping. Thanks for the positive feedback!

    You should try brining those frozen baits so they’re not so mushy… And if you did a real mooching rig to add action you’d kill it out there.
    Love your boat!

    I am on the fence of which Pathfinder to get. A few years ago I always pull the trigger on 2600 TRS. We love that boat on the sea trial but life happened and now I’m back looking again. How do you think this boat would do in-shore? Near the mouths of the creeks. That new 2400TRS and Open looks great too since I mostly inshore. Juat wish I had the size when the family and their friends want a day on the boat.

    • @solofishcharleston
      @solofishcharleston  Місяць тому +1

      I have owned them both and I really enjoyed both of them, but the 2600 was a lot better for me inshore. I rarely used the 2700 inshore.

      I think that would be a better inshore boat for sure! If you are local, the team at Palmetto Boat Sales are great!

    What mpg does the 27 get cruising I have a 25 Jupiter that gets 2.5 at 30-32mph

    • @solofishcharleston
      @solofishcharleston  5 місяців тому +1

      It can do very close to 3 in the low 30s, but it's most comfortable up on the step around 40 mph getting 2.5 mpg.

      @@solofishcharleston adjust your drag always. If you're out there alone with a 50 your drag isn't set, you could easily go off the boat. Don't leave your filet knife on the deck, and last don't go offshore alone, it's just not safe, find a good fishing partner. If you ask for help someone will help. Look at it this way, it will make you a better fisherman faster. Just a couple tips, good luck and be careful out there.
