That’s so cool you run the trails on your dirt bike. Makes it easier to check things out that way I bet. I absolutely love to ozarks and that’s a beautiful area you was in.
Great video !! I subbed when I didn't even know that you rode off road ! You are very good; I like your style! I live in MS. and ride in AR. too. I ride a WR 250R. Be safe, I am looking forward to more
Thank you for sharing about White Rock. We checked it out today by way of a lot of detours. Roads are out. But next time your up there in the area, check out the overlook & CCC place on forest service roads 1510 & 1003. Great spots.
That looks like a great camping spot! Thanks for the informative video. Here is one of my fav camping breakfast recipes. I've cooked it for many Boy Scouts when I was a leader and never had a complaint. And, real men do eat quiche! lol Hamburger Quiche 1 unbaked 9 in. pastry shell ½ lb of ground beef or sausage ½ cup mayonnaise ½ cup milk 2 eggs 1½ cup of shredded Cheddar or Swiss cheese 1/3 cup of sliced green or any onion Dash pepper Brown meat in skillet. Drain fat and set aside. Blend mayo, milk and eggs until ingredients until smooth. Stir in meat, cheese, onion, and pepper. Turn into pastry shell. Bake in 350°F oven for 35 to 40 minutes or until golden brown on top and knife inserted in center comes out clean. Serves 6 to 8.
It sounds like a good tasting recipe. My truck camper didn't come with the oven. I think the previous owners took it out and replaced it with drawers for more storage. I wish I had one though.
Really enjoy your videos and thanks for making them so informative to each spot. I'm in N. Houston so Ouachita Forest is only 6 hours from me. I jumped in both feet 1 1/2 yr ago and bought a truck and a slide in camper. I also went with a SxS instead of bike cuz I have a pup that like's the outdoors as much as me. lol. I like to cook but find it tough when camping. I do a lot of HoBo tin foil cooking. I make individual pre-packaged pint freezer bags of different ingredients. Mix whichever I'm in mood for together and wrap in tin foil at camp, then throw directly on fire coals to cook. EX. cut steak bites, mini potatoes, beef rice. Another might be shrimp, tator tots & chicken rice or link sausage cut in bites, hashbrowns & a flavored rice. Easy cooking, minimal prep, hot meal and I'm setting by a fire anyways in the evenings. In case of fire restrictions, I can cook this on small portable propane grill I have as well.
Thanks! Six hour drive isn't that bad to camp in the Ouachita's. Great area to stay a while and check out the place. I've used tin foil cooking also on a grill. I like spraying tin foil with olive oil and slicing up potatoes and add seasoning to it with butter and cook on grill. Turns out great. I sometimes also do a vegetable medley that same way. The beef and rice really sound good.
You are so close to high bank/ twin falls. Easy short hike up a creek bank. Excellent description thank you! Egg casserole so easy . Line pan with bread crumbs then pour a mixture of egg, bacon bits, green onion & salsa let soak in bread top with cheese then bake uncovered until eggs are done. Test with knife like a cake. (15 min?)
I'm in the Quachita National Forest quite a bit. Climbed Forked Mountain a couple years ago. I haven't had the pleasure of exploring the Ozark National Forest at all but🤞🏻 one day.
I'm working late tonight and missed dinner, man that breakfast really looked good! One of my favorite easy dinners is to get some croissant dough and make pizza rolls (pepperoni, mozzarella, pizza sauce) or ham and cheese rolls. Just unroll the dough, layer on the ingredients, roll it back up, slice it into "pucks" like a cinnamon roll, and bake in a cast iron pan or a toaster oven.
Cabbage, onions, butter, garlic, salt and pepper. Boil cabbage and onions until soft, pour off water, add butter and season to taste. I will generally cast iron a steak with the cabbage as a side dish.
Another name for horse Apple is Bois D'Arc. My husband and I have been following you and really appreciate your vlog. At the time you were making this video we were camping in our vintage Alaskan truck camper at Spy Rock thanks to you! Fall color did not disappoint. Keep theses wonderful vlogs coming !
Great video as usual… I’m in Missouri and love camping along the Missouri Arkansas border it’s beautiful as I’ve just discovered… keep enjoying life my friend
Lovely campsite. My kind of woods! Very much enjoy your videos and look forward to each one you publish. I hope to do what you're doing in the near future.
This video brings back great childhood memories of growing up in NW Arkansas. Love the river shots. That breakfast is a REAL country breakfast! Keep up the great videos.
In Kansas the farmers planted Hedge Apple rows. They would get up to a large softball size. The trees would be so heavy with them, and they would cover the ground. Helped with dust in the depression. Do NOT eat... Lots of folks slice and make decorative ornaments...
Good to know. I picked up a rotten one and got the juice on my fingers. LOL I tried to wash it off in the river, but didn't work very well. It didn't come off, until I got back to camp and used soap. Sticky stuff.
We are going to be in AR for Thanksgiving with the family in Fayetville. I'm a photographer. Can you recommend one or two places for landscape and sunset photography. Thanks, Alan
What a great camping area! Horse apples are also called Osage orange. Horses do occasionally eat them, but most animals don't like them because they have a latex content. If you bother to smell them, they have a slightly sweet citrus scent. They used to be widespread here in North America because mammoths and mastadons ate them and spread the seeds everywhere in their dung. These days they're not a common sight because they mainly depend on being spread by creeks and rivers where they'll germinate and take root along waterways.
Watching them while boondocking is the best way to watch them. LOL I wish I was back in Yuma. I'll get back out that way sometime soon. Stay safe out there and enjoy the weather.
I liked the idea of that StarLink and then looked it up but at $90+ per month for service decided to let it go. Am thinking seriously about that Honda Rally tho as I'm having a front hitch put on that can carry up to 500 lb.s
I was beginning to worry about you! Enjoyed the video. The Pig Trail is one of the most scenic byways is the country. I made a trip up it to Fayetteville several years ago for a Razorback basketball game. There had been a freezing rain the day before and the tress were covered with ice. It looked like a fairyland. Breathtaking!! Try this one: Shipwreck Stew 1/2 lb hamburger meat 1/2 small onion, chopped 1/2 bell pepper, chopped 1 small can chopped tomatoes 1 small can chopped tomatoes with liquid 1 tsp garlic powder 3/4 cup elbow macaroni Shredded cheese Brown the hamburger with the onions and bell pepper. Add spices, tomatoes, and macaroni. Cover and cook on medium low until macaroni is done. May have to add a little water. Cover with the shredded cheese and cover until melted. Serve with cornbread.
Thanks John! I'm taking it easy with the videos for a little bit for a break. Don't want to burn out. The Ozarks are beautiful for sure. Thanks for the recipe. Looks good!
Like you said, "The Ozarks don't disappoint." I'm fortunate that the Ozarks are on the route to Arizona from Indiana (and back). I've camped at Redding a few times. I don't mind paying half price with my Senior Pass because you get running water and a hot shower. I know you can make arrangements with a nearby company to kayak the Mulberry because I talked to three young people who set off from the boat launch there sounding like they were about to have a great time. Of course, I'm filing away dispersed camping sites like this one because free is good. I drove through the Ozarks a little earlier than usual one year. It was on a Saturday and Redding and the surrounding area was super crowded. I checked out a dispersed camping area using coordinates from one of your videos, Mark, and it was occupied. I ended up hitting I-40 and grabbing a motel room 50 miles closer to Arizona. I have a very favorable impression of Arkies. They've always treated me well in my campground and recreation setting encounters, including my stop at Turner Bend Store.
Hi Mark, we call those hedge balls, the wood from the hedge tree or a bush makes great fence posts. The wood is super hard and will not rot in the ground. We live in Southeast Nebraska, there are still fences around here made with hedge. We really enjoy your videos and are hoping to go to the Ozarks and do some dispersed camping. I have a Yamaha XT 225 that we take and I do the same as you and check out the areas.
The "Ozarks don't Disappoint" LOL I've drove through Redding on my motorcycle checking it out. Pretty small cozy campground right on the Mulberry River. To bad the dispersed camping site was taken, it does happen from time to time. Maybe next time. Thanks for watching and the "Thanks".
Hedge Balls, good to know. It seems they grow everywhere. I've never noticed them out in the forests like that. Definitely gotta check out the Ozarks and the Ouachita's. Beautiful areas to explore. Yamaha's are great motorcycles, I love my honda, easy to haul with me and fun to ride the back dirt roads. Thanks for watching!
@@DispersedCamperMan The fact that you're always adding campsites to your extremely helpful google map makes it more likely that I'll be able to find one next time I'm in that situation. The truth is, however, that I learned a lesson that year. I left home on a Thursday, which put me in Arkansas on Saturday at the rate I travel. If I leave on a Sunday, I can easily be in New Mexico by the weekend. Lots of free campgrounds and dispersed camping there, as you know, on a weekend in October or November.
We call those hedge apples here and they are actually supposed to deter mice and snakes if you put them around your house or van or whatever, they don't like them at all!!!
Been looking for your videos every day. Glad to see a new one tonight. As for camp food, ranch beans mixed in with cooked and drained Ramen noodles with the seasoning packet. Along with hamburger or hot dogs. Thanks for your shows Matt and Becky
What an incredibly beautiful area to camp and explore. Breakfast is our favorite meal. It can set the tone for the day. Thanks for sharing and hope your travels are safe!
Enjoyed the video very much. You'll need to come back in the spring when the water's up and Phipps Branch, and other waterfalls, are cooking. You'll see a lot of paddlers then too. Big Eddy, where you camped, is a popular take out spot. Many other spots in the area for you to camp. Thank you!
Thanks Curtis! I explored the area while there on my motorcycle. I did find several spots I'll be camping at sometime in the near future. I was just happy I found a good spot next to the river.
I've wanted to visit the main White Rock Camp ground for awhile but they say the road isn't good for all vehicles. I'm sure the free areas around are even worst so never tried it. In that area I'd have breakfast at the Oark General Store. Used to be the best unlimited $1 folders you can get
Our favorite is salmon and rice. Since we have a 25 foot travel trailer camper we will be doing more camping very soon. But first we are trying to get our house sold.
I was born and raised in the woods and swamps of South Louisiana. So when I camp I usually eat what's available. Fish squirrels rabbit etc. I eat off the land. That can be funny to. I went out west and it was chip munks and prairie dogs. The people I worked with out there called me the crazy Cajun that eats everything just put Tony's seasoning on it. 😄
I have the version 2 that is no longer available with the motors. I have this stand: Pyle Universal Speaker Tripod... www.amazon.com/dp/B005I2YL7I?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Breakfast is always the best. Just snack a little during the day. Leah and I have used you map coordinates a few times over the years to find a few of your camping sites. Tell Wes I said hi if you happen to see him. We have a few trees on our farm that have horse apples. One of them over hangs our road. Been running over them for the past few weeks. Great shout out to your supporters Mark. That's cool. You don't want any of my recipes, LoL. Great video!!
Thanks Tracy! I think I've seen horse apples before, but just couldn't remember the name of them or anything about them. Pretty neat looking things. Thanks for watching Tracy!
Something I like to make: chop up some cabbage and carrots (bring from home already chopped up). Some meat or two: often cut up sausage and pork or shrimp. Mushrooms are good too. Cut up the meat and mushrooms. Put a very small amount of water in a skillet, cook on low once water moving till carrots and cabbage are soft. Could add sweet and sour sauce if not using sausage. Grease from sausage gives lots of flavor.
I hope you can help me? I am a retired Marine living on Little Rock AFB base housing in Jacksonville, Ar. I am an older guy, so mobility is a slight issue. I really want to get out and camp again, but it is hard to find any dispersed camping areas near me so far. I looked on the internet and most of the areas I see are way up in the north about 2 or so hours away. My girlfriend and I went to Tylor Bend, Ar. last year and we had a blast, but I am trying to find something closer where I can tent camp and practice my bush skills a bit. I don't own an RV or truck. I own a 2-wheel drive Toyota Rav Four (4-cylinder) so backcountry driving is an issue for me. Can you help me locate something closer to my location? I don't mind traveling an hour or so, but over 2 hours or more puts a strain on my home situation a bit, because my girlfriend works 2 jobs and we have pets I need to take care of. Thanks for the help in advance.
Hello Doug! I retired from LRAFB in 2014 after 20 years stationed there. I lived in LRAFB family housing for about a year also till I moved off base. The closest dispersed camping spot near you is about an hours drive to the Ouachita National Forest. (2-wheel drive accessible) I did a video on a spot called Wildcat Mountain Trail: Dispersed Camping Ouachita National Forest. ( ua-cam.com/video/cqgvyqBZ6Tw/v-deo.html ) ( 34.848077,-92.818131 ) There are several camping spots in that area you could check out. In all of my videos, I have the coordinates to the spots I show in the video. I also have an interactive google map link in all my video descriptions that show all my dispersed camping spots. Once you have the map open, click on a spot on the map and my video for that spot pops up with coordinates. Any questions, let me know.
@@DispersedCamperMan Thank you so much for the information. I will follow it up. We may have crossed paths. I have lived on the base for about 8 years now and I worked at the BX gun counter for 6 years, so we may have talked a time or two if you stopped by there. Thanks for the help.

1 unbaked 9 in. pastry shell

I just bought some Tony's myself. I'm liking the taste.
Buckwheat flour pancakes and sausage patties for us!
Sounds good. Thanks Byron!

Thanks Daisy! That sounds good!
@@DispersedCamperMan Use only enough water to just cover the bottom of the skillet. Enjoy!! My husband loves this.
I love JOHN MORRELL Smoked Sausage, already cooked but I brown them for breakfast. Find then in the wiener section, I never buy wieners anyone.
They are great in Red Beans& Rice ( Mahatma is my brand is my favorite), or just a can of pork &beans and make "beanee weenies".
I'll have to check them out. Thanks!
Osage Orange , a natural insect repellent.
Thanks. Good to know!
Bacon and eggs. Watermelon
I do like watermelon...
Those horse apples are from a Osage Orange tree , it was the preferred wood for native Americans to make bows from
Interesting to know.

@@tracyphillips3325 LOL I'm usually very careful about walking around wet rocks, especially out there by myself. LOL
Your music is so loud I have a hard time hearing your opening.
Thanks for the feedback Thelma! In the opening, you aren't supposed to hear me. I'm just showing you what the video is going to be about. Keep watching and the music stops, and the video begins. Thanks for watching!
