- This is a weird idea, but I thought it would interesting if every item in Terraria had a 50/50 chance of being useless. Basically Thanos' infinity gauntlet spell, but with Terraria items. I added a few tweaks to it here and there to try to make it more even among the pool of items, but overall, this could still be very rough if we lose some important assets... (Yep, Hardmode is terrible)

My only thought for the destroyer randomly losing a bunch of its health just after spawning in is that a falling star must have hit its spawn point, cleaving through most of its segments for tens of thousands of damage.
I checked for that but that would've dealt about 78k damage
while it only lost about 30k

@@unmensch178 it ticked down to that amount in about 5 frames with different drops each frame...lemme pull up... 120000 -> 110840 (-9160) ->92345 (-18495) -> 88395 (-3950)
Really appreciate the transparency you have when talking about spawning stuff in. I'd much rather you enjoy exploring the potential strategies behind beating a gamemode like this than grueling over pointless time wastes. Great video! Glad to see this concept make a comeback :D

Looking at the list, both Orichalcum Bars and the Orichalcum Anvil are allowed, in addition to the Fiberglass Fishing Pole or Mechanic's Rod. You have limited bait from the cans of worms in the world, but this can work. You can get Orichalcum Bars from Mythril Crates, Defiled Crates, Azure Crates, and Stockade Crates. Due to the rule for how crafting works with half of the materials needing to be legal, you should be able to purchase the illegal Anvil and merge it with the legal Orichalcum Bars at the legal Hellforge for the Orichalcum Anvil. It is unlikely you will be able to get crate potions so this is a stretch, but still possible.
fishing might not even be necessary because he might be able to shimmer hallowed bars down the bar/ore tree into orichalcum

but the falling flames from the cursed darts do and thats where most of the damage comes in anyway
not only that, the dart rifle with cursed darts is one of the single best options for the destroyer.
Then you remember he has no way of bursting down the detached probes with only the dart rifle, which makes cursed darts actually not a really good idea in this run against the destroyer. The lack of accessory optimization is really screwing him up badly.

I tried it, didn't seem to work as well as the stormbow, but maybe I could have used it differently.

Without anvils runs get super cursed, and this one is no exception. It's oddly funny to see the copper pickaxe in hardmode lol
i definitely want to see the rest of this, and the situation you got due to the bans got me thinking of if the opposite: "terraria but i can only use crafted accessories and weapons" would be a nice challenge

Sadly, several key items for the machine (namely, the bast statue and wire, as well as maybe other things) are banned

it seems like all your luck in these playthroughs is used up from finding stacks of highly convenient items laying in chests

what if you "reroll" the spreadsheet after mech bosses, after golem, etc. so that way you dont suffer that much with the grind
My favorite ranged crowd control combo on Master Mode: the Dart Rifle with Cursed Flame Darts. Good ol' Napalm my beloved.

Depending on your luck with surface chests, you could very well have a chance at an orichalcum anvil. Use Can of Worms to get worms, buy the mechanic's rod, and focus on fishing quests and getting mythril crates you can open to try and go bait positive while looking to scrounge up enough orichalcum bars to make an anvil. I would say only use bait to do fishing quests for a while, until you're confident you can avoid running out of bait or get the golden bug net.
You also had some options for mounts. Not a lot of them, but ancient horn and scaly truffle are allowed.
I'm a newer arrival to the channel but I've loved every moment of all the videos I've watched so far! Plus it's nice to see another person with such impeccable music taste who actually lists it all out in the description. That's greatly appreciated!

since you're struggling to heal with the nurse quickly, here's a tip: if you turn on autopause and pause right after magic mirror-ing, you can click straight on tothe nurse and heal without worrying about her moving or you being attacked
(may or may not have used this myself to beat supreme calamitas the first time i played calamity)
it would be very cool to see this run make it all the way to completion, nothing but respect for you for making it this far with this insane restriction

watching you fight skeletron prime made me hate the shield of cthulu's damaging thing even more than I already did. the amount of times i died after bouncing back off of something...
i have a cool idea on how you could do this: find a mod that displays Item ID's next to item names, and dont use any even numbered ones.
also you should use auto pause for the nurse cheese, it helps alot

I love your channel. One of my favorite games of all time are Terraria. I was so excited when I saw you were also posting Stardew Valley videos, because I had just finished my second playthrough.
This has been one of my favorite challenges to watch so far
surprised he hasnt killed the eye before a fight and left its drops for a heal during a later boss - always helps me
The spawner is banned
I think getting enough of the corruption/ hallowed biome blocks, even just seeds for grass, could help with making mimics show up in hell. They can spawn on the hell bridge off screen and be easy to aggro with the gun.
And if you can, Actuating the blocks can make them less obstructive but still make the biome type change.

I used the dart rifle with cursed darts against destroyer and it is actually pretty good because of the flames that fall of the darts you just have to shoot above it

Good god this run looks brutal. That second to last Destroyer fight was beautiful. Also, I loved the fireball sounds for the Flower of Fire, very cute.
One last thing, what's the seed? I have yet to find 20 Skeletron Prime spawners in a chest before. Sounds like something that'd only happen in a Dream. (ok fine wrong run for the joke)

I like to cheese the Destroyer by building a sky bridge up really high and shooting from gaps in the bridge. The Destroyer can’t fly, so only the probes can reach you up there.

It’s been a while since I’ve done the math but it may be better to fire cursed darts straight up so the secondary projectiles can get a ton of hits
Still think you should do a pure no crafting at all run. Did it with friends a while back really cool also forces you to get creative with armor like the tavernkeep stuff.
One really fun challenge I've done is a no crafting challenge on legendary mode, I made it to hardmode and then gave up on the bosses it's so hard

shouldve aimed more upwards with the cursed darts, the flames it drop can do a ton of damage if stacked properly

I forgot just how TERRIBLE the luck on this challenge was
I went on the mod browser after the first video and found a mod that basically replicates the effect if this challenge. (Except accessories which still worked, but thats likely a bug) i played through the entire game and beat MoonLord with the same restrictions! I will admit, i used the Dart Rifle with cursed darts to beat the mechanical trio, plantera, AND golem. I now have a new appreciation for the Dart Rifle.
I don’t know if you’re gonna do mythbusters soon but I have a myth. Myth: EoC elevator could work with no immunity frames.

I'm doing my own playthrough of this challenge, I copied the spreadsheet, and I found you accidentally put musket on twice under the important items category.
I respect the decision to just pretend the scale mail never left. No ifs or buts :)

I never noticed those Dark Souls II hitboxes until this video.
They look fine in-game, but I notice them while editing. Most of them are reasonable but the one at 12:15 is pretty wild.
Is the armor that you get from the tavern keep baned? It would be good substitute for beetle armor
A big problem here is that you were using the mirror out of your inventory instead of your quickbar for when you were using the dart gun.
Have you tried aiming up with the dart rifle?

pretty sure chairs don't speed up time, only beds do that
they do enable the "rest" mode where so long as you're not moving/attacking you regen even faster than just standing still

Technically, if you can't craft Summons, and only use natural spawns, you wouldn't have been able to farm him.for.hallowed ore (i understand tho if you bypass some rule for the sake of saving Time)
What if after this series, you did a playthrough with only the items that were not banned? So like, you use the other 50%?
