The lady in the video spoke two languages Sinhalese & Tamil. She asked you to come under the saree hut because it was too hot outside. Then one boy teased her & asked her to marry you then she told you that the boy was mad & she was already married & have four kids. I can only translate things that she spoke in Sinhalese because my Tamil is not good.I think finally she asked in Tamil when you are going back to Germany 🇩🇪 to take her with you.She is a humble lady with a funny character.
I'll try to translate what the lady says. She's talking in both Sinhala and Tamil I think. I will translate the parts I understood. :) 3:05 She's saying they are going to clean everything in the morning. And she's explaining how they are going to clean and others are laughing because she's talking a lot in Sinhala to a person who doesn't understand Sinhala. 3:18 She's worried that you are in the sun. And offering you the shade. She's saying "Oh it's so sunny. Come to the shade and sit in side" :D Then others are joking saying marry her (as I heard). 3:26 She says she's already married and has 4 kids. 3:33 she says the other person is crazy (Because they are making fun of her)
The lady was very respectful, humble and kind to ask you to come to the shade and have a seat and have little chat as you were outside in the scorching sun! Most of all she is very joyful, funny and with lot of sense of humor. Doing all that hard work day by day still appreciate every moment of it with joy, remarkable!
haha love the marriage proposal....very friendly people....you see Ken, the boys in India - Ali, Harry et al they're not getting the same genuine and fun-filled reactions from the locals.....good on you for sticking it out over here....enjoy our hospitality!
I'm sri lankan but come on man, this is not a needed comment, as though you worship these guys, would you treat an indian the same to a german even though india has done more for our country?
It is definitely very interesting Ken and it is that natural curiosity you have about cultures and their lifestyles that makes the videos so amazing - you approach the scene with such an open mind. Lovely - keep up the good work! Danke Schon!
Hello Ken, Since you are here ( negombo) I'll recommend you some nice areas which foreigners almost miss. Katuwapitiya church ( do not recommend this as something to enjoy since this was where the easter bomb attack happened killing a lot of people. If you wish to go there, observe and could speak with catholic fathers you'll learn that sad story which theres no justice to this day, if you wish to visit there, it will be more clear for you if you just google Katuwapitiya attack b4 visiting.) other three areas where you can enjoy are, Welannkanni church and beach near Kochchikade town. Muttuwa beach and the small church(Nainamadama town), Kurusa Palliya(palliya means church, Kurusa= the cross) in Marawila town. Plus, if you wish to travel Jaffna, try the railway if possible. Then you wont miss the most stunning, breathtaking scenery of Elephant pass, the neck of SL. . Travel safe!
Watching from India. I enjoy all your vlogs. Looks like you are in demand. People of Sri Lanka love you a lot. You are in a Gods own country with very hospitable people
Hi Ken Hope you are doing well, the "fishmarket" you went to is actually not a fishmarket, it is where they make dry fish. They clean it, put salt in it and let it dry. It is useful for when there is no fresh fish and is also very tasty. The lady was telling you to come into the canopy bit as you were standing in the hot sun. She also said he has 4 children and a husband. She was also joking and saying 'take me to Germany' 🤣 Hope that clears things up a bit. Have a lovely day 👍
An awesome walk about in that fish market. Wonderful that the strong smell of fish didn't deter you from filming there. Guess those fish are salted ones coz they are dried under the sun. Nice to see your interaction with the locals there especially that young lady...very chatty 😄😀
Hi Ken 👋🏻 hahaa...everyone seems to ask the standard question " are you married ? " 🤣 It's the same process on how the fishermen make saltedfish , dry cuttlefish or dry shrimp. If you go to the fishermen village you'll see this kind of activity by the beach especially in Terengganu and Kelantan. The locals are so welcoming and friendly like always , nice one Ken 👍🥰
Thanks Ken for simple life from these people. People here they give you opportunity to learn the world including us. They don’t walk on beautiful flowers but they can smile.
Hi ken..we thought already you leave from srilanka..happy to see you again..if you you stay in srilanka on April season, you can see many cultural things and food recipes of our country.
Anchovies...yeah, good that you still remember it's an important item for "nasi lemak"...👍👍 Aaah, you are not a fan of it 😀😄 2 pieces of Swiss roll ( which you didn't order ) and a glass of mango juice to quench your thirst at the 'hotel'...a cool outro and as always, thanks for the interesting walk around at the local fish market of Negombo. Bravo Ken 💪
I think they are processing the fishes into salted fish by drying under the sun. As for anchovies, it is true some Malaysians like to add anchovies to nasi lemak, but I am a Malaysian who dislike and doesn't take anchovies, although I love nasi lemak. The locals are very friendly, they appear to be asking you the same question, "Are you married?" Very interesting that they call a refreshment stall as hotel. Looking forward to your coming videos on Northern Sri Lanka.
Good afternoon Mein Freund from Simmo and Julia J in Wales 🏴 Another great video. We have that cake in England. It's one of my favourites. It's Swiss Roll and it's delicious with hot, sweet custard. We're having a restful afternoon catching up with our vlogger friends 😀 Stay safe and well 🏴😍🏴🇹🇭🙏
Also, Jaffna is a predominately tamil area, so here are some basic words you may find useful Nandri- Thank you Hari Rahai- Nalla Rusi (just like the man said) Vanakkam- You say it as a greeting (basically hello)
Great work 👍 and 🙏 thank you. I realy like your videos as I can learn lot about my own country. When I come home I spent most of the time in Kandy. So no time to see other places. Looking forward to see your trip to Jafna. Stay safe and enjoy your time in Srilanka🙏
Interesting videos Ken the woman speaks Tamil language The lady said she want come Germany, then she is laughing, she knows this is a funny question but she is very nicely asking you.
Hi Ken , there is a person called "Eeden" uncle in nigambo doing fishering.. go and meet him for the further details about fish , dry fish and fisheries . He is a well known guy who participate for a youtube channel discribing about fisheries .

The guy told to you marry her and she replied she also married and have three kids. And she also said if you want fish you can buy from her like 1kg.. I think she is funny and kind hearted
The woman asked of you want to buy a kilo of fish. The guy jokingly asked if you want to marry her. The woman said that he was crazy ( mental) and that she had a husband & 4 kids.
The lady is telling you to take her to Germany. There are lot of Sri Lankans in Germany. This is the process of making DRY FISH, it has to dry for days. You get the same type in Thailand and Malaysia. She is asking you if you want a Kilo and she is explaining how the process is done. She says she is married and has 4 kids bcos the other guy said she wants to marry you. She is telling you that the other guy is nuts ( mental) .
She is jokingly saying take me to Germany...she said she has four kids and she has a husband...🙂 She also offered you to get under the shade as it's too sunny...

Come to sri lanka again in the future
The shop guy told that he is charging you local rates.
Oh just two more weeks? You will be missing the New Year festival... Not sure how it'll go this year with the crisis but we'll see...
After 👀 title I thought KEN 19 lol 😂😂
With the fish spread out to dry in the open by the ocean, how come I don't see sea gulls having a feast on them? Do the locals have a way to chase away those birds?
I was wondering the same
Because its very salty no flies no birds. If you go to fresh fish market you will see plenty of flies and birds
@@nalin8182, yes, that makes a lot of sense. It's the salt that keeps the birds away from the fish. Thank you for your answer Nalin.

Ooof...I bet the smell of the fish was pungent
Ask for a "cool drink", then they understand
She's asking whether you can take her to Germany
are u married?
Why everyone was asking that?🤣🤣
🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩🤗
Why don't the seagulls and cats steal the fish and escape?
Because it’s dried and too salty, they only steal non salty fresh fish
They want to get u married
you are drawn to fish everywhere you go Very fishy Ken!
She tell in Tamil take me garmeny. Sit down very sun. These people sinhala and Tamil. They poor. People
