      Youre welcome! Be sure to always search up the ILS frequency and also study the area so you know how to plan your arrival :)

    • @cebrady
      @cebrady 4 роки тому

      Look up flight planning using the MSFS plan screen - you want to set more than just your departure and arrival. There are more dropdowns to select specific approaches that'll line you right up to the runway with a lot of room to catch the ILS - and as mentioned you need to look up the ILS Frequency for the airport (just look up the airport name + ILS frequency and theres a number of sites that list them - if the airport is large there will be a few for each of the different runways and approaches). Here's a good tutorial: ua-cam.com/video/yiaDG5HWBHU/v-deo.html
      Also, if you start hot on the runway (instead of a gate), the ILS will already be applied and in the computer (and frequency on the ILS NAV channel). Not sure if it does that with a cold start (I dont think it does).

    • @Decivye
      @Decivye  4 роки тому

      Just look at the runway number. If you are taking off at runway 24 for example, your heaving with be 240 you basically just add another 0 to the runway number for your heading. I personally use google to get my ILS frequency

  • @nerdMike
    @nerdMike 4 роки тому

    Great video, btw sometimes the approach mode doesn't enable for me: I approach the airport, enable the LOC but doesn't go automatically into Approach mode and I can't see any purple sign on the dash confirming that, not always and so its' not lowering the altitude by itself. Also the radio usually if i try to get the right descending altitude before tells me to go higher and keep altitude, so usually I go longer and cannot land on the airport even in AP mode because the information via radio are wrong. What's the problem?

    • @Decivye
      @Decivye  4 роки тому +1

      Glad you enjoyed the video! I found out that the ILS can be quite buggy sometimes it doesnt work at all even tho everything is set up correctly. This has happened to myself and some of my other viewers that I gave private lessons to. As far as the approach mode you can switch that on manually it shouldnt be an issue however, the pink diamonds need to be working giving us an indication that we are captured on the LOC and GS.

    • @nerdMike
      @nerdMike 4 роки тому

      @@Decivye sadly I can enable the Loc or Appr but no diamonds is the dash 😔
      Maybe I do something wrong in the world map? I select ifs low or high altitude, I choose them in accord to a decent route and then I load my flight.
      Can you do also a video about a missed landing? And how to insert the data again to get the right nav AP guidance to land again in a second try? 🙂 Thanks

    • @nerdMike
      @nerdMike 4 роки тому

      well.. I've found a bug or maybe I was wrong. By selecting ILS and custom airways before the loadign sometimes there is a trouble for him with the route. You can see blinking DECEL point in the right place and than near the airport back in forth, so that's the problem. Selection custom on destination now the purple guide seems to work, very strange, dont' know if my fault by selection incorrect approach before loading the flight or game bug. Or maybe i was not selecting the right nav frequency when communicated via radio.

    I am new to the world of Flight Sims and I have a question of which I think you as a real life private pilot could answer it.
    Is it allowed or usual to mix up visual flight and instrumental flight? Like using landmarks for navigation but using the instruments to have more control over the aircraft?

    • @Decivye
      @Decivye  4 роки тому

      In real life my experience is limited to VFR flights. I have not gotten my instrument rating to know all the do's and don'ts just yet. My actual knowledge with VFR procedures is quite limited. I know a few things here and there that I take the time to learn on my own e.g. this video. However based on my flying experience as a VFR pilot I have never experienced sharing the same instrument for approach as VFR flights. They normally have their own thing going. Hope this helps :)

      Basically no. IFR has strict fix to fix clearances and a legal requirement to reference approved equipment to verify compliance. You can use anything to help but the official equipment must be used. You can switch from VFR to IFR or back any number of times in one flight. To go IFR you need ATC permission.

    OMG, I've been doing this ILS landing all wrong since FSX. I never knew I have to set the ILS frequency on the radio, and activate the localizer on approach. I never knew ILS would descend the plane automatically as soon as it captures the glideslope. I've been using the IFR approach mode from the flight plan, and I have to descend manually during final approach. And I got confused why my plane suddenly banks right/left right before touch down as if it's trying to abort landing. when you flare you bring the nose up every so slightly so it doesnt slam or bounce on the runway. you basically want to keep pulling back on the stick so the speed bleeds out.

But when I do the traffics pattern, sometimes it completely goofs up, flies a couple thousand feet over the runway or crashes into the ground. @@Decivye well didnt really help me... you said you activate the loc mode when you are perpendicular to the final. Does that mean in a 90 degree angle? 1] if yes than i dont understand.. I flew from Hamburg to Bremen and was nearly heading straight to the runway the whole flight. So i didnt fly in a pattern with base leg etc. Is there a distance or sth like that, when i activate it? 2] if perpendicular to the final means that you are already looking in the right direction than i still dont understand when to activate it... There has to be a distance or a radius around the airport or sth like that... Sorry im confused.

      I did do this tday. The landing was a bit rough ig but acceptable. All u have to do is to idle out the throttles at flare altitude while landing. Tho they do need to work on the accuracy, cause smtimes the APPR doesnt center on the centerline. So u might need to take manual control.

      ILS is not available on every runway, you have to check it. If you are near the airport and there is no ILS showing in purple at the rose, you have the wrong frequency or no ILS is there. Easiest way for me was to start from an ILS runway, short after the takeoff my rose shows all ILS information and the correct runway. And don’t forget to switch the ILS information on.

      I can perform the ILS over and over again and I have not had any issues. This is a beginners guide for flight sim not how to fly an ILS in real life. My simple method has worked for a lot of other people. If it confused you and messed your flying up, that is your own problem. I do not need to go to other peoples website to learn more about ILS approaches as I can do them on my own with no issues.

      @@polomadmo Sigh.... please do more research when trying to argue with me cuz it really feels like talking to a wall. A pilot has all rights to take manual control of the aircraft and there are airline procedures that require you to take manual control as soon as you have visual on the runway.
