I think one of the core insights you convey in many of your videos to your audience, is that they (we) can gain social & financial value = ultimately fun & time by CONSISTENTLY sharing our unique perspective to a nische audience. I like that the video gets range, but maybe signaling a bit more depth in the thumbnail/title would be my preferenced way to underline that this is a topic very close to your heart. Keep going!

Dude the beginning story literally just happened to me… I’ve been consistent on UA-cam for almost 5 months now, and another filmmaker who was from the next state over reached out to me via my UA-cam channel. We ended up meeting in real life and documented the entire experience on our platforms. Those 2 videos are the best videos I have ever created; the story was so raw, real, and authentic. I can’t wait to experience more of this as I continue to build my audience of creatives trying to make it 🙌🏼

That's fair, you need to have something in yourself to present to others, but really you can just share your knowledge and your skill would be writing the newsletter well. On the other side, knowledge will come as you have and practice a skill, for instance let's remember the StarCraft II economics blog - it requires you to have management skills.
Actually, in this day and age just sharing your journey to learning a skill can be enough to attract like-minded people. And it works as a nice way of keeping yourself accountable too!

I want to stop watching videos about doing things and do them. As easy at it sounds, it's very hard to get started (for me, at least). I've grounded myself to do nothing and enjoy nothing till I actually start doing something. So, these day I eat, work out a bit, do my day job (remotely) which pays the rent and then spend the nights and all of my other off hours ruminating about what to do and how to become financially free before I'm old. I watched a million videos about side hustles on UA-cam and feel sick just thinking about hearing another one. I don't understand this invisible force that is keeping me from putting in the work. Would you tell me, in one sentence if you can, how to break out of this. I need help.
The problem is that we lie to ourselves about going on social media platforms for answers, whereas all of the answers we need are within ourselves. So the key to breaking out of this cycle is to stop seeking for advice from outside and look within ourselves, as well as paying attention to thoughts/plans and actions being aligned. If they're not aligned, we stop trusting ourselves and then start seeking help outside ourselves again and again.
I recently read the three austin kleon books after Ali's suggestion , and those books are really amazing . I urge whoever reading this comments to go read the three books ( show your work , steal like an artist and keep going ) they will hardly take an hour to read ... thanks ali for the book suggestion

I think the niche conundrum is interesting. A UA-camr/ Etsy seller chose tp specialize in an area where there is low - medium saturation, but medium - high consumer demand. Food for thought?

Be careful: it's not UA-cam (or social) against email. Neither it's UA-cam for a while, than email. You need both, forever. You need a channel where people can discover you for free. Some of them are converted to newsletter subscribers. It's a low percentage, under 5%.
@@themindnoter Yes, it is what I was trying to say. Often people hear these tips and think "I have to focus on my newsletter, NOT on UA-cam". You need both,at each step of your online career. Even you are still at the beginning, you should start your newsletter. So you will already have subscribers when you'll need them.
In order to be successful on youtube you have to be decent speaker. If you mumble into your chin and having weak written scripts you are not going to get far.
but good ideas for things to work on don't come consistently -> so unless you work on one idea for many years posting not-so-exciting-stuff will make you appear less interesting (IMO). so the important thing I see is to balance the ratio of consistent/interesting
The 1000 fans is not true because if you have 1000 fans you need to meet the supply and demand of 1000 fans so your gross profits would be minuscule and you couldn’t live off from it no matter what you do. You also have to manage churn since there’s always a risk you lose fans so it takes considerable marketing effort and money to maintain 1000 true fans.
Just do it... i would hasitate cause of fear of exposure, but soon as i did, i realized nobody really cared. Put the effort in and expect to be imperfect. Growth will come 🙃

You need both, forever.
You need a channel where people can discover you for free.
Some of them are converted to newsletter subscribers. It's a low percentage, under 5%.
but we have to grow enough to direct viewers to newsletters... can't start right now for my case, getting youtube subscribers alone is hard enough :/

Often people hear these tips and think "I have to focus on my newsletter, NOT on UA-cam". You need both,at each step of your online career.
Even you are still at the beginning, you should start your newsletter. So you will already have subscribers when you'll need them.

In order to be successful on youtube you have to be decent speaker. If you mumble into your chin and having weak written scripts you are not going to get far.
but good ideas for things to work on don't come consistently -> so unless you work on one idea for many years posting not-so-exciting-stuff will make you appear less interesting (IMO). so the important thing I see is to balance the ratio of consistent/interesting

The 1000 fans is not true because if you have 1000 fans you need to meet the supply and demand of 1000 fans so your gross profits would be minuscule and you couldn’t live off from it no matter what you do. You also have to manage churn since there’s always a risk you lose fans so it takes considerable marketing effort and money to maintain 1000 true fans.

Just do it... i would hasitate cause of fear of exposure, but soon as i did, i realized nobody really cared. Put the effort in and expect to be imperfect. Growth will come 🙃
