    from Gerry- I am a pear shape. I usually wear a iX and the hips are always a problem. I so appreciate seeing some one with a fuller figure sewing and modeling clothes. Love your channel. Thanks and God bless.

    This is the first time I've seen you and you have wonderful information for everyone ❤. Thanks so very much. I was 18 when I sewed my Wedding Dress. I made a mockup one so that I didn't ruin my bridal fabric. My Mom taught me how to see when I was a small child. If it wasn't for the skills she taught me I couldn't have made the dress. After some time off I've returned to my sewing.

    This is what I love about being a sewist. We get to worry about peacock placement. 😆

      Peacock placement is serious business 😅🦚 I have another interfacing trick that seems many didn't know in this vid. studio.ua-cam.com/users/video_NrGG9-Dy88/edit I need to make that tip a stand alone video. It is one of my favorites.

    Peacock placement is no laughing matter, I am so glad no peacocks were decapitated or hung upside down in the making of your cheerful and beautiful top. Another very skilfully done tutorial thank you.

    Just found your channel. Thank you for your video on this pattern. I just bought it and couldn’t figure out what they were talking about regarding the seam biding at the shoulders, so your video is SO helpful. I plan to cut out the pattern soon, so I will sew along with you when ready. Very much appreciate your very detailed “class!”

    That turned out so cute! I love it with the white pants. I am also trying to add to my summer wardrobe. I got this gorgeous pink linen, similar to the same color as your top fabric, and I just don't know what dress to make with it. It wasn't cheap so definitely will make a muslin for whatever I make but summer will be half over before I figure it out. 😂 How is your garden this year?

    • @stacyrobbins

      I have a few pieces of linen waiting for the right project too! The garden is going great. I am so spoiled by having home grown, vine ripened tomatoes. How is your garden? Didn't you do a winter crop? How did it turn out?

    • @reneemorgan9320
      @reneemorgan9320 3 місяці тому

      @@stacyrobbins I tried doing a cover crop but it didn’t do hardly anything. I think this year I am going to just cover my beds completely with ground cover over the winter. Lately I have been dealing with invasive worms called jumping worms. Have you heard of them? So gross!! 🤢 My tomatoes are just starting to ripen. Mainly cherry tomatoes so far but my paste tomatoes are blushing and I am picking a little early because the birds keep pecking at them and ruining them. It’s always something! 😂

      @@reneemorgan9320 We put in tobacco plants to help keep the hornworm away. I will have to look up the jumping worms. 🤢 My dog barks at the birds when she sees them so far we are winning. I tend to pick them a bit early too. I will be canning salsa this weekend. Maybe a few pickles too. 🍅🍅

    Stacy - update: I've gotten through much of this top but found the lap of the collar in front to have confusing directions. I interpreted it to require turning the collar in half before basting so that it will lay flat, similar to a shawl collar. When I tried it on for fit, the neck and collar are huge and show my bra and what's in my bra. After rewatching your video, I think the collar ends should be flat, instead of folded, before basting. The instructions and illustrations could be much clearer about how to assemble this part of the top. Tomorrow, I'll get busy with my trusty seam ripper and unfold those collar ends so I can lap them flat. Thanks so much. Cheers from Oklahoma and the home of OU!!

    • @stacyrobbins
      @stacyrobbins  3 місяці тому +1

      The neck instructions are missing some info! I wondered how the collar version would go. It seemed light on instruction. I loved Norman when we lived in Moore. I would nip down Sooner Road or I35 all the time! We would have lunch at Hollywood Corners. We loved our time in the OKC area.

    Hi. Thanks for this video. You can't really see through the top, at least in the video we can't see anything. The top is so cute the way you have color blocked it. Cute.What's the pattern for that blue nightgown?

    • @stacyrobbins
      @stacyrobbins  3 місяці тому

      Thank you so much! The nightgown is one I smocked for myself over 30 years ago! I actually made two, the other one in tricot knit. It is raglan with a tiny neck binding. I don't think I used a pattern. 😅 I made it to learn the smocking basics. It will be in an upcoming video! I will explain how I made it etc. GOOD EYE to see it in the background.

    • @stacyrobbins
      @stacyrobbins  3 місяці тому

      Welcome! I mark in different way depending on the fabric. Often I use a fabric marking pencil/crayon that is soft and waxy. While the pattern is still on the fabric I put a pin through the circle pull the fabric apart just enough to see the pin and twist the pencil on the marking. At the end of the Kalle Shirt (cutting out) I show markings I did with a mechanical pencil. I show it in a few other videos too. I want to do more small stand alone videos on things like this.

      You can use self enclosed seams and it will be very elegant! Seam finishes like that elevate a garment to designer level. Serging is a fast finish but it will look amazing with a more designer finish. 🧵Please let me know if you do. I would love to hear about it.
