If you want to hear why he’s the greatest Hammond organ player in rock history, bar none and a point accepted entirely by Keith Emerson and Rick Wakeman, watch his two-minute organ solo between 4:45 and 6:39. It’s pure R&B, soul and funk. Watch the precision of his vibrato technique even well into his late 60s between 6:18 and 6:24 and the amount of physical effort he puts into getting it to machine precision. Watch the priceless moment the younger keyboard player next to him pretty much stop playing in the middle of that vibrato passage just to turn around and watch Lord. He was masterful.
R.I.P. Jon and Steve...two legends, two people who will live in their music! They are true artist's. Time can't beat their name, we will always remember them!
A truly remarkable man Jon Lord and his music influences to rock music with always been remembered for every. Sad day for friends and family, RIP Jon Lord my you always be in are thoughts when we listen to all your music 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🎹🎹🎼🎧🌈🚻☮️😪
Like No Other Who Will Ever Walk The Earth ...You were the King of Rock keyboards before , today and forever....Thanks for everything Sir John Lord! RIP
Check this out…. The Prisoners from England…. Kula Shaker based their cover off the Prisoners’ version….. the organ player for the prisoners is nine other than James Taylor from acid jazz legends the James Taylor quartet (JTQ) ua-cam.com/video/j-BUGWC-Cik/v-deo.html
I wouldn’t regard it as a cover. With Jon Lord playing the Hammond its more like the real deal 🎹 and its one of the top live performances of this iconic song.
Jon Lord, Bob Babbitt, and Kitty Wells all arrived in heaven today. If you hear the thunder rumbling, it's just them rocking the pearly gates! RIP all of you.
He will be missed....what an amazing musician...watching/listening to him rough up that Hammond C3...just the best...God bless him , his family and friends
Younger musicians should have invited Jon to play with them more, you know, for their learning experience, as a token of respect for him and in order to add unmistakable coolness to it all.
Why the fuck not? I kind of like that acoustic approach they have. It's not just "Oh let's do it in a way they've heard it a million times", they decided to have fun with it this way... Plus it's Jon fuckin Lord!
When I watched first time this video, I could see straight that Jon was massively struggling. And just figured it out now. It's half a step down!!! Now, I have to say, well done Jon!
I saw John Lord in Zermatt less than 2 years ago after I had made a ski-touring route in the region - he was in a bar with his wife sitting at a quiet table. The sight at them was so peaceful and holy that I didn't even dare watching at them for longer than 2 seconds. Didn't know John has been diagnosed with cancer. Hold on John! There is a whole bunch of people there whose life you have made MUCH wider and better. So even if you lose the battle, screw it - your life has left SUCH a trace!
JON LORD...Master Keyboardest of all times. 👌🎹❤️
Hush organ arrangement is one of the earliest and most recognisable Jon Lord's contributions to DP. RIP Lord Of The Hammond
RIP Steve too
Kenjaš...

Vibrato: "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

You obviously know nothing about Hammond organ playing technique, compositional skills and music in general.
Wonderful and tasty vocals too. I miss Jon, he was just amazing.
