@@bearosophy I feel like the difference is more that, going into law school, you have specific and well-defined goals. Study this -> learn this -> do this -> success. I find it fascinating how UA-cam's algorithm plays such a huge role in a creator's success. It's almost like a mysterious force that controls who gets views and who doesn't. It makes me wonder what the future of content creation looks like in an algorithm-driven world.
The key is to not think of it as an algorithm. Think beyond that and the human being you want to speak to an connect with. If you figure that out and can execute well, the 'algorithm' will find an audience for your videos.
The fact that someone said UA-cam is the hardest thing they’ve done compared to becoming a lawyer really puts things in perspective. It will feel that much more rewarding to be able to be monetized and have a successful channel!

It's kind of sad that even with 500 hours of content being uploaded to UA-cam every minute, only a select few creators will ever reach the monetization threshold. It really shows how difficult it is to make it on the platform.

One thing I have found frustration with is I have two friends who have made UA-cam Partner within 90 days. I am still no where near that milestone. My frustration lies in the aspect of me actually taking time to make content. I use my green screen, I write scripts for videos and get very little success. They just react to a video and get like 40k views. Seems like reaction videos play more of an impact then anything else. Its frustrating because I want to be original in my content. Thanks for the videos and insight.
Generally as a smaller channel, I think it’s better to hone in on one niche that you are passionate about or have an expertise in because it’ll gradually build “satisfaction” with your audience and in turn the UA-cam algorithm. Imagine tuning into a channel that you expect to give you gaming content and all of a sudden they are a political commentary. It would likely cause confusion within your viewers Yk? Just recently my videos started getting picked up because I began to stick to a consistent format of videos. Mind you, I’m no where near at an accomplished level so heed my advice at your own discretion. That being said, I hope I could have been of some assistance. I’m sure you’ll do just fine 👍
Can 100% agree with that first comment. I have done both the sales associate and broker state license exams for real estate and content creation is FAR more difficult. But I’m determined! 💪 Positive vibes everyone, never quit!
Coming from someone who used to run various channels on and off for years before this current one, trying to get to monetization is one of the hardest things I've done on UA-cam. The influx in available music has made competition in the niche of music very high compared to five to ten years ago. I may start running ads again, cause running a few of those every so often helps with visibility and is far easier than the amount of work it takes to achieve those same results organically.
I recently found out the hard way that you can lose some of your watch hours if you decide to delete either your videos or in my case, old livestreams. I lost more than 400 hours of watch time. Please don’t make the same mistake 😅
I have over 2,000 hours in just 2 months so it CAN be done. For myself, it was content and clean, cohesive thumbnails. Views and Total Hours are going very well...however, my struggle is with gaining Subscibers, so I will tune into some other videos on that topic. Best wishes EVERYONE!

I agree that having a clear value proposition for every video is important, but what about creativity and experimentation? Do creators risk alienating their audience if they deviate too much from their established niche?
Yes, they do BUT... everyone starts out experimenting 100% of the time because they have to. Often your successes come from experimentation. It's how you grow as a creator. It just has to be in moderation once you have an audience.
Next June, it will be year 1 since I started my journey on youtube, I have 1700 hrs, with 3320 subs. Trying to learn and improve on my videos overall, quiting is not an option, I am still hungy and do what I learned here and other educational channels. Thanks for all you do for us guys, I am happy with my results but not satisfied see you on the top.
This 4k watch hours is no joke… I’ve been posting at least 2 long form videos a week and daily shorts and my subs keep going up but my hours haven’t cracked 1k yet 🙄
I thought I had picked a niche at this point but as I was listening to this video I realized it’s a little scrambled at the moment. Thanks Rob! I’ll try to keep things looking similar!
Yeah Its definitly not easy picking a niche. Its always something wrong in my opinion😊 its either too small. Too big. Takes too much time or something else.. 🙂
Interestingly, this is the monetization target that I achieved first while still struggling with the subs 😅 I make short (1-2 mins) gaming videos, and so fortunate a couple of them blew up early on, helping me get 4k watch hour in just 2 months. Now, onto the 1k subs!
Rainthority same here , im struggling with subs too ..a lot. I have very young channel . I do animations and LEGO stop motion :) You have nice looking channel , even tho i dont know or play that game.
4k might seem daunting at first, but I literally managed to get there in only 3 months, with most hours of watchtime being in only a month after reviving my channel, and you just need to improve the quality of your videos overtime so that the audience watches for longer.
My experience is, it's not that your video is not good enough, it's the f*****up algorithm. Some big creators that I follow on Facebook, they also have their branch channel here, no views at all
And then some big creators doing diy videos repeatedly, almost all videos are the same, recycled over and over.....some gets 20mil views, other exactly the same videos barely get 20k views. You can have the most wonderful thumbnail, best content, lots of comments and shares, but algorithm decides to screw you up and down.
And UA-cam ftom time to time will viral a 16year old video.... for absolutely no reason. If that video owner is not monetized.....UA-cam rakes in 100% ads revenue! Profit!
@@Beautiful_Doors_of_Sweden same here! My videos are really short - longest is about 4 minutes long. So, it’s taking forever to reach the Watch Time Hours.
@@simple_naildesigns then we have the same problem 😊 yeah its hard. You dont want to loose viewers along the way either.. 🙂 I dont know what to do ecept making a lot of videos..
I hope everyone finds their niche that they enjoy making videos of! 4000hours seems quite a daunting goal at the moment but I'm sure everyone can get there with persistence!
Thank you for your continued guidance. I’ve only started recently but I won’t give up 💪🏽 Hope all of you other small channels stick with it and don’t give up! Good luck!
Came for the solid advice, stayed for the DS9 reference. Rule of Acquisition #57: Good customers are as rare as latinum- treasure them. Also, I will say being a streamer makes some of the points made more difficult, but I can see ways to implement them as I need to do VODs in addition to shorts and livestreams.
One of your previous videos stated to define your business or something like that. Which to me is making lets plays for video games. Over time I have thought more about this and that doing Horror games would be more my niche. I know there is a lot of other competition in this area but then trying to define that niche again helps. I will ponder this more and see what I come up with. But hearing similar things in different wording does help so thank you for that. Keep up the amazing you you are helping so many people with these videos. Even if we never become big its helping people grow in their knowledge of content creation.
@@vidIQ people rush to monetization then I have seen some more then one channel delete their channel because they were not getting the views. The hype for monetization meh 🫤 just create and have fun.
My niche i think is a niche with a hook.... I have a specific set of skills and i found a hole in the content i was finding which i appear to able to fill, but im also passionate about what I'm doing. And i have a log book, so when an idea pops into my head i can write it down and either wean it out or keep it once ive thought it over
As a new creator, I understandI have so much to work on to even be good, let alone great. But this podcast helps to inspire and motivate me so much. Thank you all.
Monetization requirements may lead to creators focusing solely on popular niches to gain more views, leaving other important topics and voices unheard.
I agree, my friend has a kid who loved watching buses and trains on UA-cam. I realized that there are so many of these people when I started posting videos on this topic. But it's not among the top niche(s) so many people may not think about such. It's been hard though since so many negative comments calling me retarded for filming trains, escalators and buses but I am not relenting since there are special people that wait for my uploads religiously.
After stumble upon this video and watch until finish, I must say what you say attracted me. Passionate for the niche is important. I have keeping on posting videos and developing my channel for years but not successful in getting the BIG 1000 sub and 4000 hours yet. 😂 But I enjoy to record and share what I see and hear during my travel trips. What I learn from watching this videos is you also say passion doesn't equal profitability. I also agree on that. Thanks 👍keep going we got this
true, no rush. just enjoy every moment you are creating a content.
AMEN 🙏 🙏 🙏
3:30 GREAT example I could grasp, THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Even More motivation for a newbie with a youtube channel.
I agree that having a clear value proposition for every video is important, but what about creativity and experimentation? Do creators risk alienating their audience if they deviate too much from their established niche?
🤔I agree
Yes, they do BUT... everyone starts out experimenting 100% of the time because they have to. Often your successes come from experimentation. It's how you grow as a creator. It just has to be in moderation once you have an audience.
Next June, it will be year 1 since I started my journey on youtube, I have 1700 hrs, with 3320 subs. Trying to learn and improve on my videos overall, quiting is not an option, I am still hungy and do what I learned here and other educational channels. Thanks for all you do for us guys, I am happy with my results but not satisfied see you on the top.
UA-cam will NEVER satisfy a creator's appetite. Aint that great!?
It sure has been a journey for me. Only half way there. Climbing though. Thanks for your advice, opinion, and support. Was fun to watch. Great video
Can't help myself.
WOOOOOOOAAAAAAHHHHHH, we're half way thereeeeeee.
WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO, living in a praaaayer.
One of my favorite songs. Im sure you did it justice singing. Hahaha. Im going to make it too. Really do appreciate the advice
“I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.” - The Little Engine
This 4k watch hours is no joke… I’ve been posting at least 2 long form videos a week and daily shorts and my subs keep going up but my hours haven’t cracked 1k yet 🙄
I thought I had picked a niche at this point but as I was listening to this video I realized it’s a little scrambled at the moment. Thanks Rob! I’ll try to keep things looking similar!
Yeah Its definitly not easy picking a niche. Its always something wrong in my opinion😊 its either too small. Too big. Takes too much time or something else.. 🙂
@@Beautiful_Doors_of_Sweden exactly my thoughts
It takes time and it's ever evolving, but keep it at top of mind when you create!
@PMDKroohu thank you! It’s our gaming channel username. It was Relaxed Jokers wayyy back in the day but I’m glad I figured out a new name
@@vidIQ Thanks Rob! I’ll try my best
Interestingly, this is the monetization target that I achieved first while still struggling with the subs 😅 I make short (1-2 mins) gaming videos, and so fortunate a couple of them blew up early on, helping me get 4k watch hour in just 2 months. Now, onto the 1k subs!
Congrats 👍1k on its way
You've got this!
Rainthority same here , im struggling with subs too ..a lot. I have very young channel . I do animations and LEGO stop motion :) You have nice looking channel , even tho i dont know or play that game.
Hấp dẫn! 💪📢
4k might seem daunting at first, but I literally managed to get there in only 3 months, with most hours of watchtime being in only a month after reviving my channel, and you just need to improve the quality of your videos overtime so that the audience watches for longer.
Nice congrats bro can u give me a shout out pls
Congrats 👍on 4k
I’m so close to getting mine good luck guys don’t give up
To the person who is reading this, don't give
up on your UA-cam channel. Keep going it's
going to get better.
Yessss! New subscriber here 🙌🏻
@@LifeofVie27 🥰
2 months in and still grinding every day! I come back to watch these videos to make sure I don’t lose my hunger
Don't lose hope. We got this. =)
Profit!
This is just what I need! I’m struggling with reaching my Watch Time Hours and need all the help I can get.
Yeah me too and especially since I dont wanna make my videos too long, only like 2-3,5 min long.. what are you struggling with?
@@Beautiful_Doors_of_Sweden same here! My videos are really short - longest is about 4 minutes long. So, it’s taking forever to reach the Watch Time Hours.
@@simple_naildesigns then we have the same problem 😊 yeah its hard. You dont want to loose viewers along the way either.. 🙂 I dont know what to do ecept making a lot of videos..
@@Beautiful_Doors_of_Sweden agree! Just continue making content. It’ll happen, just keep going!
Hopefully our channel grows, tryna educate for free!
Not gonna stop until getting that 4k and 1k subscribers! Never give up
I hope everyone finds their niche that they enjoy making videos of!
4000hours seems quite a daunting goal at the moment but I'm sure everyone can get there with persistence!
Thank you for your continued guidance.
I’ve only started recently but I won’t give up 💪🏽
Hope all of you other small channels stick with it and don’t give up!
Good luck!
Thanks 👍and good luck
You got this!
Just getting started! Optimistic but also realistic 🙌🏼
Hi. How are you?
Stuck working on my 4000 watch hours and it’s been rough recently shesh
So, what about Ncs music? How to get 4000 viewers soon?
Came for the solid advice, stayed for the DS9 reference. Rule of Acquisition #57: Good customers are as rare as latinum- treasure them.
Also, I will say being a streamer makes some of the points made more difficult, but I can see ways to implement them as I need to do VODs in addition to shorts and livestreams.
DS9 is the best
One of your previous videos stated to define your business or something like that. Which to me is making lets plays for video games. Over time I have thought more about this and that doing Horror games would be more my niche. I know there is a lot of other competition in this area but then trying to define that niche again helps. I will ponder this more and see what I come up with. But hearing similar things in different wording does help so thank you for that. Keep up the amazing you you are helping so many people with these videos. Even if we never become big its helping people grow in their knowledge of content creation.
As someone that been on youtube since 2006 lived through many years of purges. I just create and do it has a hobby. I don't stress on monetization.
Iike that 👍I agree
Then no need to worry about monetization goals!
@@vidIQ people rush to monetization then I have seen some more then one channel delete their channel because they were not getting the views. The hype for monetization meh 🫤 just create and have fun.
Good morning 0:14
My niche i think is a niche with a hook....
I have a specific set of skills and i found a hole in the content i was finding which i appear to able to fill, but im also passionate about what I'm doing.
And i have a log book, so when an idea pops into my head i can write it down and either wean it out or keep it once ive thought it over
Best thing is staying motivated. I watch this channel just to feel good and keep pumping videos.💪🇵🇰
I agree 👍
As a new creator, I understandI have so much to work on to even be good, let alone great. But this podcast helps to inspire and motivate me so much. Thank you all.
Watch hours
Started using captions on my shorts. They definitely helped with reducing the number of people who swiped away, and increased watch time slightly.
I"m sorry to say my friend, but as of now, shorts watchtime does not count towards channel monetisation.
@@snapsna3567 oh I realise that, it’s just nice when a video does well that’s all.
do you mainly caption your own shorts or?
@@STLhumanity314 In some of them yes. Depends what the short consists of.
@@realmofloredor 🤗 thanks for the reply
Wonderful! Thanks for the help from a new UA-cam channel, we appreciate your help 🙌
Well done everyone ! Keep on going! Great video as always , very useful 🙂👍
Monetization requirements may lead to creators focusing solely on popular niches to gain more views, leaving other important topics and voices unheard.
Yes! This. And its sad, how boring is it if everyone is the same..
I absolutely agree 👍
I agree, my friend has a kid who loved watching buses and trains on UA-cam. I realized that there are so many of these people when I started posting videos on this topic. But it's not among the top niche(s) so many people may not think about such. It's been hard though since so many negative comments calling me retarded for filming trains, escalators and buses but I am not relenting since there are special people that wait for my uploads religiously.
Thank you for this video, I really appreciate it . Very clear and true 😊
Very well explained! This should be in the YT FAQ page! Great job!
If anybody has a yt channel that doesn't do good, don't worry i believe that you will get that sweet 1000 subs🤗
Just recently passed the 1,000 hours mark! So stoked to hit 4,000 soon!
After stumble upon this video and watch until finish, I must say what you say attracted me.
Passionate for the niche is important.
I have keeping on posting videos and developing my channel for years but not successful in getting the BIG 1000 sub and 4000 hours yet. 😂
But I enjoy to record and share what I see and hear during my travel trips.
What I learn from watching this videos is you also say passion doesn't equal profitability. I also agree on that.
Anyway thanks for this videos as it does motivate me a bit to don't give up just yet..😅
Keep going, you have more than me or some of us here. Followed you on your channel.
It’s crazy that this is what I’m currently struggling to do. But I BELIEVE I can do it.
You can do it 👍keep going you got this
Of course you can, you've already got 1000 subs!
@@vidIQ thanks 🙏🏾
You are such a perfect educator. And soooooo much more.
I agree 👍
Ha, thanks for the compliments!
