2021
This is funny.. I downloaded updates for WIN7PRO and woke the computer up the next day to find this. I actually went into my BIOS and made this change and it works, then came to UA-cam to see what it was about.. Good job spreading the news to the other folks.. I can't believe Microsoft would "apparently" brick peoples computers like this, jerks. Anyhow, great helpful video!
Not all heroes wear capes. Thank you sir
Well you deserve it. :)
Bless your soul, good sir!
I just installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my new SSD. After installing a ton of updates this message appeared after restarting my computer. Thanks a lot for this quick fixing video, it really made my day!
You have no idea how relieved I am to find this. I have the exact BIOS and I'm trying to install Debian Linux. I never even thought to check secure boot! Thank you so much! I was having a bad day, now it's a little better!
And this is how you make the whole world love you in an instant! Thank you man!
Wow! Thank you so much!! Just installed some windows 7 updates last night and then this morning get the Secure Boot Violation message. I only know what the BIOS is because my son built my PC. I could not find out what I needed to do, kept getting thrown back again and again to the BIOS. Luckily I had my creaky old laptop with which to do some googling. All useless until your video popped up. Also have an ASUS motherboard so the whole thing, although it looked a bit different, really encouraged me to look for the secure boot section (had to scroll right down before it appeared). I am now inputting this comment on my now operational PC.
Perfect, reassuring and useful! Thanks again - I thought I would need to wait till the end of the week for my son to visit and sort it out.
omg exactly the same for me like pema 50, win 7 updates yesterday not working today...
and i have like no plan bout bios and stuff like that, but did your thing and its working now!!
thanks so much you saved me ALOT of my nerves, ta for that :D
I had this extact error, with the Asus motherboard, followed these instructions worked first time, all the time, for a good time! Many Thanks from people in the comments your video is still helping in 2022! I was trying to install a Promox image on an old Asus desktop PC. Cheers Dan 'The Man'
2 minutes to solve my biggest problema with my PC. Thank You.
From Portugal in 2020
Still helping people in 2019..Thanks bro.
Thanks dude, you really saved my ass. I was about to give up all hope and just turn my pc into a playhouse for my three hamsters, but then I found this video. Papa bless
Thanks. Tech here and from experience I knew the issue was somewhere to do with secure boot/UEFI/legacy settings, but it would have been extremely time intensive to go through each possible configuration. VERY HELPFUL!! Happy holidays!
6 years later... You're still a hero! Thanks!!
Thanks a lot!! Wish I could leave a thousand likes, I was puzzled with this one for a day.
Dude, thank you :)
Yeah thx for this video
2020, worst time to have pc problems due to COVID Quarantine and this guy is still saving lives. 🤣🤣
I love you man! I was running in circles trying to figure out what is causing it till I figured out it was a windows Update that was causing the issue. I recently had to do a format and reinstall to windows, as the PC had linux installed on it from its previous owner and basicly glitched up at some point. During the reinstall, i was doing updates and THIS happened, twice. First time I figured, take out everything, format everything, and do a full 100% Clean install of both HDs. still happened, but this time i noticed I made it through some other updates before it hit again. This made me to belive it was windows update causing and had better wording to search through google with. BAM, your video shows up and the fix is real.! 2019 Windows 7 is BACK baby!
Thanks man worked 100%
Very helpful video. This solved this issue easily.
I am Turkish, I watched solution videos, but I could not come to a conclusion. Your video helped me. thank you
Wow. I'm so glad you posted this. I did a series of Windows updates to my Win 7 system last night and then this AM it wouldn't boot (have an ASUS MB so got that same message). Thanks so much. You are my new hero! BTW, did you ever change it back to the Windows UEFI boot? or is their an ASUS firmware update?
greeeaaaatttt !!!!!!! I was starting to cry wathing the monitor !!!!!!! kisses and hugs from rome italy !!!!!
watching
I will shield your back, and keep your counsel, and give my life for yours if need be. I swear it by the old gods and the new.
You are still being helpful in 2020 my guy!
Its February 2020 and this helped me and my great frustration after reinstalling my OS on to an SSD. The UEFI error happened after the 2nd round of Windows critical updates was taking place and the computer was restarting as part of the process. Bless you Filterficial !
KB3133977 caused it.
i feel like i should pay you.
I'm on a fresh copy of Windows 7 64-bit, and I was just getting the updates done and this happened, so it definitely is one of the updates that caused this.
Thanks for the video! I was about to get mad after spending hours of downloading and updating lol. This fixed it.
Thanks for the video. My copy of windows 7 would not find updates for the longest time. When I found the problem and fixed it, the pc downloaded 226 updates. Restarted once fine, updates were installed and restarted again and got this problem. Did what you said and BAM I'm in. Thank you
I thought I had to reformat AGAIN after I just did that and installed new hardware. This worked. THANK YOU
Thanks so much, really saved my butt right before I was about to leave for camping. Installed a bunch of Windows Updates, and got this error message. Thanks again for posting this vid. You're my hero, man.
Wow! You actually fixed it. It's 2020 and you're still helping people. Although it didn't work it brought me to the area where I could actually choose the option I needed. Instead of choosing other, I scrolled down and it showed me 3 options I had on my computer. I just chose the 2nd option and it worked. You are one awesome dude. Thank you so much.
I personally think it's something Microsoft intentionally does so those who can't solve it buy another computer, because this never happened before. I haven't used this computer since last year. So when I started it there was an update (hey aren't updates no longer available to windows 7? hmmm) After the update this happened. Quite a coincidence. Microsoft is a money based operation and whenever they can make more money out of you by phasing out a product with a new one they will. Or they will send you a bug that frustrates some so much they buy another device. Gotta love the American way. Bless you my friend.
OMG I LOVE YOU SO MUCH, I saw like 23 tutorials and this is the perfect one.
updated my bios and got that dreaded "unauthorized changes" message.
Was almost going to do a fresh install of operating system but thankfully found your video.
Thank you so much for posting it, you sir are a champion :-)
You are a true lifesaver. Thanks for that so much! was about to give up and reinstall the whole pc all over again, but luckily your video saved me tons of hours of reinstalling everything. And a heck of a lot of frustration as well!
Thanks!
Thanks! This happened to me this morning, and I was at a complete loss. Since I have a similar motherboard, your video gave me exactly what I needed.
Just so you know your video basically kept me from jumping off the roof just now. I thought it was going to be screwed permanently, thank you so much!
that's how you solve a problem.and that's how you smash that enter key to prove the point... u have no idea how helpful this was! Thanks dude!
Still helping people in 2020! Thanks, dude!
6 years later, and this video save my life again
I got a feeling a lot more people are going to need this with Windows 10 rolling out. You're not a hero hk3285... you're legend.
Wow! You're my hero dude. Thanks a lot for this. I do believe Windows Update was the culprit here. This happened upon a reboot following an overnight update.
OMG! You saved my day. The last thing I needed was to have to reinstall Windows 7. Thank you SO much!
Thanks man! I reinstalled windows after seeing this bootup screen. Reinstalled my drivers and updated Windows just to have unauthorized changes on the firmware, operating system, or UEFI drivers screen apear a second time.
I'm 2 years late to the party, but my God, thank you so much for this video. I had literally reformatted my drives thinking I made a mistake on the installation, and still got the same warning. You saved me from a format loop.
OMG thank you so much! I just reinstalled Windows like 4 times because of this damn error! I should have searched for this sooner. You're a life saver!
I have this error when trying to boot my Proxmox VE, but that fixed it and now it directly boots up fine. Thank you!
Thanks dude, for me I could not get into BIOS for some reason. To fix it I had to unplug the computer, plug it back in then follow your steps.
thanks man! i reinstalled my OS for 3x now because ive always had trouble with windows update.. when after another update this boot failure came up i was just like "DAMN HERE WE GO THE AGAIN".. but im glad i found this video! You just saved my day :)
you are the best! I was about to go insane, I just had a hard drive die and and bought a 1 tb SSD re-download windows all my games and that happened! thanks bro
I can't give you enough thumbs up for this. You're a life saver. I think it was during windows update like you said. I did a clean install of windows 7 from an old disk and after 1.4gb of updates I got this problem. I literally had not done anything other than install and windows update.
Thanks man, I had a mini panic attack when I saw that error code and your video couldn't have been more helpful
THANKS! DEFINITELY WORKED. I had like 30 updates and then this error occurred. Appreciate it very much.

Mate! You are the man. This worked on my windows 7 computer on the 8/8/18...
Thanks alot.
AMAZING!!!! thank you so much! I installed 2 security updates in order to update nvidia driver.... reboot and it broke the computer! I almost had a heart attack because I have no clue where my OS disk is to reinstall. Saved my life =p thanks cheif
Glad to help
Holy shit dude you just saved me! In this morning i couldn't start my pc at all. I even thought it was off power. I pulled off all cables, set it back, could start it but just got to the BIOS which didn't let me get any further. Your solution helped instantly! I was so scared to get my pc to a tech support...
Totally agree with all comments here. I panicked when this happened with my new build. If it wasn't for my mobile, the Internet and your video I would of been totally lost. Words cannot express gratitude!! AAAA+++++++
Absolute star! Thanks man… still helping people out years later 💪

Excellent! Thanks this was bugging me and I never even thought to look at the secure boot option.
I had my WHS2011 system reinstalled but this issue appeared again. This video really helped me a lot. Thanks.Maybe I wouldn't have to reinstall WHS2011 if I seen this before.

Thank you for this video. Having to hard reset my motherboard and then getting to that setup was the hardest but now everything working fine
Thank you so much! It was 100% from a windows update. I just put a fresh copy of win 7 and it happened after installing the 190 updates that install after sp1. Great video!
Thank God you posted this!!! You're the man!
And MS wonders why we don't want forced updates.
Even after 6 Years u still helpinh someone, thank u very much sir
Jesus man... REALLY helped me out with this fix. Jesus, I thought I had chunked my MBR there for a moment, because (prior to rebooting my PC) I was partitioning various drives for linux multi-boot drives; thought that this had something to do with that. However, I (also) was updating my system, with windblows updates, and I too believe that this issue propagated from a windows update. Thanks again. Saved me a lot of time troubleshooting.
Helped me today. Installed Proxmox on an old machine and got this error
Thanks FilerKingz!!! you're the first UA-cam result on Google and fixed my problem with less than 10 minutes of research!
THIS SAVE ME IN 2021. THANK YOU SO MUCH. YOU DROP THIS 👑!!!
It's 2024 and it still works, thanks a lot, man!
Thank you for making this video. I just built a computer for my friend with new windows 7 and after the first update we had this same error.
thank you for this. I am installing SteamOS and kept getting this when booting to the USB. I was about to give up when I found this. Thank you.
Thanks for this HELP!!! Spent half of today trying to find out the issue.
Thank you so very much for fixing my computer! I too have this BIOS, and this cleared things right up!
Perfect what a simple solution to a completly nondescriptive problem. Now i can install unraid thanks!
Thx a lot , i updated the Bios and could not boot. Much apreciated. You have saved me.
Absolute life saver!! You saved me in 2020!!!
Thanks for taking the time to put this up here. Saved my butt.
Very good, to the point and quick without all the video fluff youtubers want to put in nowadays.
This really saved my evening! I can't say "thank you" as much as you deserve it.
I watched your video and sure enough, it worked. Thank you! I know almost nothing about the technical side of computer software, but I have a theory if no answer has come up as to why this happens.
After I used your fix, my computer finished a scheduled update. I can't help but wonder if this is connected to updating drivers that Microsoft didn't initially recognize as safe when I installed certain software/drivers.
Its 2020 and looks to still fix these type of issues!
You Sir, Are a LIFE SAVER!
Thank You!
Thank you so much! You're still hero for people in 2021.
Thank you so much. You just saved me from a week of stress, and cash I would have spent trying to correct this.
Dude, why didn’t I gloogle this before making two bootables? Thank you so much!
I'm sure you've heard this already, but "life saver"!!! Thanks!
Thanks alot, now it took me 5 minutes to solve instead of a full reformat.
